I visited the service desk on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a random post office. It was along my route during other tasks so not my local post office; I picked it specifically because of the positive reviews recently. I can't express more how shocked I was at the Pleasant and quick service I received. Honestly, it was night and day compared to my local post office and any other USPS location. Like everyone else has expressed, Paul provided, exceptional, friendly, and attentive customer service. There was zero line when I arrived, which was already a wonderful plus, and I soon as I approached, I was welcomed and greeted warmly. Paul answered my questions with such a positive tone and attitude! it was such a refreshing experience, that I am literally sitting in my parked car next to the office just to write this review. I dropped by for the first time to USPS. It was a bit of a line but they really moved folks pretty fast and in a timely manner. Easy in, but like most USPS locations not as quick out. Came here to mail off two letters and it was quick once I got in. The AC is irrelevant (or rather so minimal) here since the main door is always open. It's a lot smaller at this USPS than others, but they do have a ton of P.O. Boxes so that take up more of the locations than the main lobby or main counter for request and shipping. The postal workers definitely don't want to be here or have been working in this heat for too long and too many years, but do their best to hide it, so A for effort and for them. Definitely will come back for future shipping needs... just which they held my mail at this location versus the compound location on the other side of the 405... who made up these zip code lines... I live 7 minutes walking distance from here... that said... Pretty easy to spot this location w/ a decent amount of street parking if not on foot or walking from close by. read more

Yes, I agree... this post office does kind of suck. The main thing that sucks is there is NO parking as stated by the first reviewer. I've never been to a USPO that didn't have at least a small lot with a few spots. The people have been typical for gov't workers, but none have been mean. I'm giving it 3 stars though because I used to live in Hancock Park and went to the PO at 3rd & Western and THAT was the biggest nightmare ever. Like being in a 3rd world country and literally, I was there two times when fist fights almost broke out because of how long the lines were and only one or two clerks were working. So, this Van Nuys PO is like heaven compared to what I used to have to go though. I've never had to wait in line more than a few minutes here. OK... I wrote this mediocre review a while back and I and now, taking time out of my busy evening to edit my review and say that this p.o. SUCKS DONKEY DONG. They have lost my mail more than once now and I've really kind of had it with them. Twice (once a package and another time a letter) items I mailed did not arrive when it was supposed to. Not even close. The package, which was mailed "Priority" took almost two weeks and the letter never arrived... over a month waiting. Oh well. I drive to the p.o. on Magnolia and Kester now. This Post office has the worst customer service I have ever received in a USPS location. The clerk either doesn't like her job or who knows. She sure gave me lecture at the window about the mail not metered by me that I was only dropping off for my employer. I get it, but all she has to do is tell me nicely to let them know how the mail is to be metered correctly. She pulled out a cardboard guideline that we don't have nor is it supplied to us by them, so easy for them to know but how do we know? We have to guess. I love this post office, because it's conveniently located. Unfortunately, there is one specific woman that works here that creates an unnecessarily hostile environment depending on what kind of day she's having. I have attached a photo, so be advised. I come here quite frequently as parking is always a breeze, and the lines typically tend to be shorter. Its always dirty, but that's nothing to write home about. I have purposely avoided coming here at times in order to avoid the negative energy permeating from this one specific woman. Today she decided to belittle me, because my handwriting is a bit different. I prompted her at the beginning of my visit with my go to -- if you need help, let me know as I am used to it. I'd normally have a label printed out, but I didn't happen to have one this time. She proceeded to go back, and forth with me about whether one of MY letters that I had written was an "R", or an "S". Lady, it's not that deep. Run me my postage, and let's get on with our lives. She decided to tell me that my package was going to get sent back to me. I'm sorry, WHAT? Can you simply put just do your job, or is THIS not the post office?!? I get it, people can be short with you and maybe at times even rude. But, I'm not one of them and I sincerely don't appreciate being treated like I did something wrong, especially when I am a frequent visitor and have never not once had any issues with anyone else at the post office. On the contrary, everyone else makes her appear to be that much worse, because she's temperamental. You shouldn't treat people the way she has now repeatedly done. She's unprofessional, period. I noticed a few negative reviews about the US Post Office at 6531 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys and I thought I should add my 2 cents; primarily because some of the reviewers mentioned the staff being rude. I use that small sub-station post office a couple / few times each week and honestly the staff are always really considerate and helpful. I've never seen any of the staff being rude to anyone. That said - once it's 5pm they are DONE and aren't about to let late-comers in at the last minute. Maybe some consider that rude but I can't say that I blame them for locking the door exactly at 5pm. My beef with this office is that they do not keep a selection of Priority and Express boxes, shipping bags and labels and steer customers toward the main Van Nuys post office on Sherman Way if requested - this really is unacceptable. I get that this is a small post office that in no way can compare to the size of the bigger ones but there is room for additional Priority and Express boxes there. The small help-yourself Priority station in the front should be re-stocked regularly and it doesn't seem to be. If that area cannot be stocked often they could at least have the boxes, shipping bags and labels on-hand behind the counter. They say that they are too small to carry all sizes of Priority boxes and mailers but that really doesn't make any sense. It's as clean / tidy as one would expect a busy post office to be - the counters are a little rough around the edges from constant use and the counter trim should be replaced but aside from that it's fine. read more

Ok...so in case you dont know, this location moved a few blocks up Van Nuys Blvd next to Bank Of America. Its waaaay smaller. But its still slow as hell and there is still only two people working the place at any given time. Its the same older guy who is really nice and older asian lady whos is usually mean and snappy with the customer. Theres a couple other employees who seem nice. The thing that really annoys me is the fact that they used to have one of those machines where you can weight packages and buy stamps without waiting in that horrible line...but they got rid of that machine months ago....why? This place it's annoying. Terrible actitud from the people that attend there. In the past I had a conflict with the old man that is there. Today I went and the fist thing that I see is one of the post office employee fighting with a client. Finally I made it after that horrible line and the first thing that I find is that the person that took my package did not help me in a good manner. I ask if she can provide me a label for my package and she gave me bad aptitude and got worse when I said how much was the difference between priority mail and standard. She look at me as if I was stupid that didn't know. Finally went a little easier when I said " I don't know prices and is my first time. If you help it will be much easier" Any ways, my advise. There's a reason this place has a 1 1/2 star average (the people who gave it 2 stars were apparently in an extremely nice mood that day.) There's is no parking. The staff are like something out of Central Casting. Remember Ed Debevic's? That restaurant where the waiters are intentionally horrible to you and it's hilarious and delightful because you're in on the joke? Well, it's exactly like that except not hilarious or delightful because it's not a joke; it's actually the way these people are allowed to behave towards customers. Whoever is in charge of this place should either be fired or should fire the current staff and get all new people who actually want to help customers. The USPS Service is one of the worse services known to man! DO NOT EVER USE this Service! They don't care about you whatsoever! I shipped a package to Canada via EXPRESS, which the fees are almost double UPS. I will NEVER EVER use USPS service again! By using USPS EXPRESS your package is guaranteed to be delivered to the destination by a certain date and time. I shipped this package for $300 in gifts to my brother in Canada. The package left the United States via LosAngeles and never made it to Canada. I put a case for this package which is now considered lost! Waited over two hours on the phone and all supervisor told me that they are not responsible for my package! Mind you she told me they are not responsible! Why did I spend an extra amount of money for express service and to ensure my package if they aren't responsible? Phone who just blatantly lied to me end it wasn't helpful at all! Warning! Do not even consider on using USPS service ever! Your package will be lost and they don't care and you'll never get your money back! they probably have behind the scenes ripping people off because they know that there's no way anyone can do anything about it! They are thieves! I will be suing USPS for negligence, loss of money, and false advertising! If you ever want is a service to ship your package to Canada or wherever, then use UPS or FedEx, which USPS are Corrupt and they will lose your packages, which are being stolen by their workers and your items will be sold on the black market! read more

I've literally waited an hour before in their line and it's just bad customer service. Anything you want such as stamps or an envelope, you have to wait in that God awful line. Sloppy, rude, and disorganized. This post office is a crap hole. There were no flat rate envelopes or labels available in the supply area so we either had to wait in line to get supplies, or interrupt the workers helping other people to get them. Further, the woman helping me was the RUDEST postal worker I've ever encountered. Her name tag was covered by her sweater, but she was a bit older, long brown wavy hair with some gray. And she wore glasses. I was taking a photo of a shipping label on the counter so that I could send a photo of the tracking to my friend. She stopped what she was doing and told me that she would not allow me to take photos of the tracking and actually chastised me. I let her know that I've never had a problem taking a photo of my packages with the shipping label and tracking on it. Postal workers are always so helpful and ALWAYS let me take a photo of my package. I do this to prove to people that their package is in the mail. It's also helpful to do this when I'm shipping multiple packages - this way I don't have to guess which tracking number is which on my receipt. She then told me that it's her personal policy because photos of workers have ended up on Yelp. WTF? SERIOUSLY? I had my camera facing the counter. Not her face. She wouldn't continue to help me until I put my phone away. She just stopped and starred at me. I think she hates her job. Due to her terrible customer service, I'm posting a review about her on Yelp. So, here ya go lady. You're on Yelp for how awful you are at your job, which is helping people. read more

This place isn't terrible it just happens to be conveniently close sometimes. Count on there to always be a "situation" at one window consistently. It's so weird to be reviewing a post office; but since my two years living in the area, I've never had a good service here, I figured they deserve the rating. Parking sucks, there's only 8 street parking that seems to be always full because it's located next to a court house. The workers are not helpful, not even nice. There is no drop off area for boxes, so even if you print your stamps at home, they still make you wait in line. They are so stingy and always trying to get you to spend more.... I mean com'n it's a post office, not a street market, not a place to bargain. They wont even give you a piece of tape, they want you to buy the tape from them. For me, it's always better to drive a little bit further for easier access and better service. read more

This place really isn't that bad. I guess since people hate it, few people come here so the lines are the best I've seen in the valley. You may have three people in front of you which isn't bad at all. The thing I hate, though, that others hate too, is the fact that there's no parking. You have to park at a meter or far away on another side street. There are cops everywhere. The first time I came here, I would have given it a one star review, but after the last two, I'm okay with it. The last few times I went was fine because I snagged a parking spot that already had time left in the meter, so I was golden. I just had two walk a block to get to the post office, but I'm not going to complain because we all need exercise. As for the staff, they're the typical post office staff. Not too friendly, but they get their jobs done. Can't expect too much from this place. I keep coming back because it's the closest USPS to where I live. read more
