Unfriendly, unkind, unpleasant, unwelcoming, and unprofessional - this is how I would describe the customer service from a lady who assisted me named Laura (Caucasian mid-60's postal clerk lady). I went in to mail a package during a slow time. I greeted and spoke to her - as I greet and speak to everyone- with positivity, kindness, and consideration; however, she was dismissiveness, bitter, and rushed (even though there was no line). It's possible she has worked there for a long time, felt burnt out, and or was having a bad day, but when I saw her being very kind to an older gentlemen next to me - who she seemed to know and or who supposedly comes in often - it became clear she was conditionally nice to him and for whatever reason not to me. Her demeanor was a stain on the environment and my experience. I would encourage the Tarzana Post Office Management to revisit her employment status. In a society where there's a lack of kindness and decency, genuine people are hard to come by; when genuine people themselves are treated with disrespect and unkindness, action then needs to be taken, otherwise the company culture suffers for the other employees and the customers they serve, like me. For those living/visiting the Tarzana/Encino areas, I strongly advise driving further elsewhere to another post office if you want better service - or if you want to keep your joy. read more

The latest in the long saga of USPS miseries... I sent a small mailer to Oregon that weighed a mere 3 ounces. Price to mail? $8.17. But that's not where it ends. I actually paid $2.17 but when the postal worker on the other end delivered it, they collected $6.00 from the recipient after being told "the sender screwed up." THANKS A F**KING LOT. This is the post office I usually go to because it's the closest one to where I work. The staff are always nice and friendly, and they answer any questions you might have about sending or receiving mail. There's plenty of parking at this location, and they have some self-serve machines that help you avoid waiting in line if you don't need assistance. When you do have to wait, the time depends on how many people are in line and how many staff are working the counter that day. It's always a pleasant experience using USPS. The supervisor "Marvin" (spelling?) is very rude and inconsiderate. I recently called about a package that was too large to enter my P.O. Box. He had no problem checking to verify. The second time I spoke to him about a separate package that arrived after I already left the post office he rudely said that is not a service they provide. He said that cannot go back and forth to check that. I understand what he said however the delivery of the message was very rude and unprofessional. If they don't provide services like that , why not say that the FIRST time I called? I just started using a PO BOX and will not keep it after the 90 day period. Horrible customer service especially by the lady who works by the counter Laura. I came to drop off my direct mailing campaign postcards which I had went through the process online. I made sure to follow the directions to a tee and divided the stacks into bundles of 100, even filling out all the documentation per stack. Laura sees this, scoffs and makes a rude remark that I wasn't supposed to do it that way. I told her I followed the official USPS website directions and she's like well you should have known we only take bundles of 50, how would the carrier take that. Then she goes off at me over how I should have had a plastic bin from USPS which doesn't make sense cause isn't that why I'm there in the first place. Ron is a mailman at the USPS. A few months ago this guy called me a racist even though it was the first time I ever laid eyes on him, and I was offering him drink of water. A couple of months after, Ron told me that I looked like a terrorist the way I was carrying a box to hand it to him as an outgoing mail. I complained to his supervisor Joe Gomes, only to receive a pre written letter indicating that " resolved " on Saturday this gentleman tried to pick a fight with me, RESOLVED my ass. Saturday was an exciting day for me as I made my first International shipment at the Post Office with Lyric. I've been hesitant to do International shipping but Lyric (the usps associate) changed my mind. She helped me find an affordable way to ship to Canada and knew exactly how to fill out the customs form. The Canadian address was extremely confusing to me as it's quite different than the US format. But she made it simple. She helped select the right size box. Was very friendly. This is not my usual post office, reseda Blvd is, but I decided to come here because it opened a little earlier. The first woman I encountered was very helpful, tried to help me figure out how to get a return label,she had blue scrunchies in her hair(didn't catch her name). She then explained how she couldn't help me with this particular label and that I would have to print it myself and then bring it back with no problems. So I did. Upon my return I encountered the woman next to her(also didn't get her name-sleek top bun) but she was very monotone, not helpful,almost rude in the way she spoke. And so after that experience I have to rate this place a 1. I am so disappointed seeing as it was my first time returning anything here with all the running back and forth. Summary: this is my local post office and it's more of a museum! Great service by all the employees here! Ambiance: talk about Tarzan memorabilia! Why? We duh, Tarzana was named after burroughs' Tarzan character (and Burroughs has his ranch here too!).... you can learn all this stuff a the post office while waiting in line....and the premises are always clean!!! Parking: large lot ... I never have issues finding a parking spot here! So big with a few spots that have shade... Service: some of the best postal employees you'll ever see! All of them are nice as heck and very patient with customers.... Amenities: lots of post office boxes as well with reasonable rates! I used to have a box here and it's very convenient. So I just got back from mailing my crappy eBay 14 kt gold earnings back, as they were defective. Luckily I had only had two people ahead of me. I needed to purchase a small padded envelope to mail them back in. I came with the eBay label ready to have the lady affix it for me. She tells me, "Oh, we do not provide tape but you can buy it for 3.79" WTF??? I am purchasing the envelope and you cant put a piece of friggin tape on it for me??? Just had a horrendous experience. I live in a big apt complex and they NEVER leave a pick-up slip. This was the second time it's happened and I tracked my package to confirm it's at this location. I went over there this morning and this woman (who I believe is named Diana) was VERY rude and insisted that she, "didn't want to hear" that they don't leave slips. She made a scene over her own employees not doing their job, AND blamed me for it??? What the hell??? When I went back in to ask for her name to complain, the bald guy mumbled something incoherent so I asked that he write her name down because I needed to file a complaint. He said, "I can't do that. NEXT!" and took the next customer in line. Wow, what the fuck??? So, I called customer service, they gave me the number and I spoke to Diane again, because apparently she's the manager... haha. Again, she wouldn't take responsibility for her horrible customer service skills and raised her voice on the phone, interrupting me with, "I SAID I DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR about them not leaving you slips!" so I said, "What am I supposed to do, it's the truth-" and she HUNG UP ON ME. I don't know what to expect from a USPS, but this location is just as lousy as others. Not the worst I've been to, mind you, but still pretty bad. Whenever I come in, the people up front always act like they're doing you a favor when they are just doing their job, and they come across as being quite patronizing and rude all the time. You can tell they hate their job, but they don't have to take it off on the customers. Easily the worst post office I've ever been to. Expect to stand in line for at least 30 minutes every time you're there - doesn't matter how short the line is. All the cashiers either have terrible attitudes or can barely speak English, or both. They've destroyed some of my packages, they're constantly are out of first class boxes in their bins, and they treat you like shit. Pure nepotism as its best. I had a package being delivered when i was on vacation and I had to pay USPS to hold it at our local post office which is 1.5 miles away from my home. I processed the request online, it showed me the address and location of where the package would be delivered, there was even a fee that I gladly paid since I was worried about porch pirates. When I showed up to pick it up, the rude woman working the counter told me that I did not live in Tarzan and thus should not be there. My license says Tarzana, my car registration, my utility bills everything says Tarzan! She told me that I should try Reseda since it seemed that this would probably be where I belong. My package would absolutely not be in Tarzana as it is impossible for my stuff to go there. I told her that I selected the Tarzana post office since the USPS website showed that was the closes to my home and even took payment. I tried to show her the receipt, email confirmation from USPS saying it had been delivered there and she refused to even look up the tracking information. She pointed out that both the DMV and California where wrong about where I lived as she seemed to know where I should belong. Flat out refused to look at anything outside my ID, even though its shows Tarzana right on it. I drove to the Reseda post office that is over 7 miles away from my home. The agent there told me that the package had been returned by the Tarzana post office to the sender. Not only did I have to pay, but the way I was treated by the woman at the Tarzana location was unwarranted. All she had to do was check the tracking number and see the information, instead she saw me and didn't believe that I would live in this neighborhood. Is it too hard to just do your job and look things up, don't judge people by what they look like. If someone has multiple sources showing the information how hard is it to check. read more
