    Spoke with Eric T.

Yesterday I used my lunch break to pick up a package that was supposed to be delivered. I requested the package to be dropped off and signed the slip but it never arrived so I went in according to the slip they left. I arrive at Encinal Station and wait 15 min, not too bad, but when I get there the employee tells me the package isn't there but instead at 209 E. Java, which is around the corner from my house. I get to 209 E. Java and Eric T, "helps" me get my package. He's snappy with me and as I'm getting my Id out he says over and over, Id! Id! I need your Id! I finally give him my Id and I request to see the Manager. He asks what for, and I explain the situation and instead of apologizing he points out that the address is crossed out and the correct one is listed. The employee at the first post office wrote that on there. I ask who the supervisor on duty is and he said No one, but the employee next to him points at him. He asks if I need anything else and then rips up my delivery ticket. No apology and terrible service. Waste of time and money driving across Sunnyvale during my lunch break.

Beware, the parking lot has limited space because the mail baskets are spread out every where.

This USPS location really does suck. The parking situation is horrible. Even if the gates are open, all of the spaces are taken up by mail bins or mail trucks. I do not know why the post office thought 10 parking spots outside of the gate would be enough since there is NO DRIVE THRU DROP OFF anymore. I am like most and hate to wait in the long lines. I frequently use the automated machines to avoid the lines. However, the automated machine is either down or broken at this location. I have mentioned this to the staff numerous times but it has not been fixed in months. The screen still flickers or freezes in the middle of a transaction. I am better off driving to the Fremont Avenue USPS (which is triple the distance from my starting location).

For decades, as I've travelled the World, I've always found the postal service--regardless of the country of origin (though most frequently the USA)--an extremely effective means of sending heartfelt messages that carry far more impact than an brief text message or email (though pix, when appropriately captioned, are very powerful statements, too!). Whilst a teacher in the World-class Ysleta ISD, part of my employment involved helping students obtain their very first (paid) employment, usually in fast-food. I regularly would visit with the employers, who might get as many as 100 applications a week, which is, of course, an overwhelming amount of competition for the few openings. It was during the visits that I'd ask if they had received a postcard from me; realizing that I was there on the behalf of my students, that single application would suddenly go to the head of the line for consideration. I was always pleased when they were bona fide paid employees, and like to think that my postcard enabled it! Yes, that was a digression, but I could not have performed that important part of my teaching position without the postal service, especially the USPS. While I wasn't at this great post office sending postcards (I'd retired 31DEC2017 from YISD after 28 years in the classrooms), I was performing a vital document delivery for my much better half, and the postal date-time stamp was important. Whilst in the queue, I witnessed the hallmark of ALL USPS personnel, which is unfailing service to every customer, regardless if that customer is positive or negative (I'm always positive). This particular customer ahead of me should have never come into the post office; he was determined to make someone pay for his horrific inadequacies/poor planning. Unable to get his mail acted upon in exactly the way he wanted, he berated the window agent, threatening later action with her supervisor. The wonderful window agent maintained very professional demeanor and responded to every question with calmness and clarity. She was the perfect representation of EVERY postal worker I've encountered in over a half-century by demonstrating her commitment to the "service" in "United States Postal Service". It's unfortunate that some (influential) people fail to understand how incredibly important the USPS is to an effective/fully functioning USA, but it is another gleaming aspect in our currently floundering country! Obviously, I highly recommend this station (as well as all around d the USA); it definitely has my coveted "iWheel of Approval!"

And 5 stars for his service!…read more I was in a bit of a bind with an upcoming work trip in the next 2 months, my passport had just expired and I had recently just got married and was in the process of a last name change for all my documents. I took a look online for process and to no surprise as all other government offices, appointments were months out. I did a quick google search for non appointment options and found Eastridge Post Office welcomed non appointments. I waited about (2) hours in line as there were a mixture of appointments and non appointments. Once I was up, the process was seamless and Harry was professional and delightful to speak with. He answered all my questions in some of the areas I left blank on the application and he worked as quick as he could to get everyone taken care of. Definitely an efficient multitasker. Anyone coming here to get help with processing your passport, I'd say downloading or filling out the application ahead of time helps with the process and bring your photos and all supporting documents to make it quick and easy.

Mailing a letter was straightforward; they had plenty of envelope options to choose along the walls. I went for priority shipping (~$0.70 extra), but my clerk slapped on some stamps (+$1.50) without a heads-up or asking--frustrating on principle, even if it's costly. Pro tip: Lines move fast, so jot your return address while waiting (no pens on hand--bring your own!). Solid 3 stars--efficient service saves the day, but transparency matters. I would swing by again if needed but will try to generally avoid.

As I was waiting in my car in the drive-through line, the person in front of me shouted out that the box was so full she could not put one more piece of mail in it. I parked in the side lot to go inside. As I was walking in, a man told me the mailbox inside was so full you had to hand your letters to someone behind the counter. I was bummed because I was in a hurry and didn't want to wait in line. Fortunately, it turned out you could walk right up to a worker who was accepting stamped, outgoing mail with no wait. He kindly stopped me to say one of my cards needed two stamps instead of one. He also complimented the stamps I was using, which were WPA posters from the Great Depression that I bought a few years ago. It was so nice of him. This post office always seems to be crowded, but I've only ever had good service here, except the time I saw a manager throw an outgoing box across the room years ago. That's an image I'll never forget. I vow to mail my cards well in advance of Christmas next year.
