Recently left town for family emergency and put vacation hold of my mail on both P.O. Box I rent here and my home address as well came back and went in to counter to pick up my mail and was told none for home accumulated but I had received notifications I was getting mail while it was on hold so I have no idea where my mail went. Just noticed yesterday some extremely important paperwork was returned to sender from my P.O. Box, this is unacceptable, to be paying for a P.O. Box every six months to have my important mail sent back and possibly never receive. read more

I came in at 8:30am, one person at the window helping another person. I waited for about 5 minutes and was my turn to mail off a package. Nice and quick after that. I had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had at the Sunnyvale Post Office during a walk-in passport application for my 1-month-old baby. The USPS website clearly states this location accepts walk-in passport applications from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. We arrived right at noon, were 4th in line, and thought we were fine. The employee handling passports, Mike, told us they "only take 4 walk-ins per day" -- a policy that is nowhere on the USPS website or posted in the building. Even though we were the 4th in line, Mike refused to check us in. At 12:30 PM, halfway through the posted walk-in hours, Mike announced he was going to lunch. He was gone for nearly an hour. When he finally returned, he only serviced people with appointments, keeping us waiting indefinitely. Sometimes he even took people who had shown up early for their appointments before helping us. After two and a half hours of waiting with a newborn, we spoke to the manager, Preet, who apologized but said there was nothing he could do. If you plan to come here for a walk-in passport, be warned: the posted hours mean nothing, the staff will not honor them, and customer service is virtually nonexistent. read more

I came to this E Java Sunnyvale USPS today (Monday) at 11:50am and based on Google it's not busy at all. I came into the office and there are only one lady at the counter and three customers in front of me. The lady in the counter seems very nice, trying to explain and give different options for the customer. But she took a long time to treat every customer. She did not notice the sequence of the lines and took the person who is not in front of me to service first. I thought it's going to be a quick service but then this person took 20 minutes and still not finish. The line is getting very long with five people behind me. I walked out the office because of the big service issue here. Post office needs to train staff to understand the urgency of the clients. If the office is empty with only one client, you can take forever time to provide options and extra service but when the line is long, you should quickly finish every client instead of chitchat. Because my next meeting, I then went to the USPS in Allendale Ave in Saratoga (Google said it's a little busy then usual) where they have three people at the counter and super efficient. Took me only three minutes to finish my stuff. read more

Why am I reviewing a random US Post Office in Sunnyvale? This US Post Office location is the only one in the South Bay that offers fingerprinting, and I was able to quickly make an appointment and go to the post office on the same day and get everything done electronically for an urgent job requirement. Parking isn't really a problem here, and I was in and out in no time. No complaints at all, and if I ever need to go get my fingerprinting done again, I'll just make the small trek on over to Sunnyvale, get it done quickly, maybe grab a quick bite at a Korean joint, and call it a day. TIP: Great for getting your fingerprints done fast, same day service. read more

Bloody awful and rude service. I've seen honey badgers with better dispositions. I went to pick up my mail and verify that it would be forwarded to new address effective next day. The woman, who everyone seems to complain about, just glares at me, snapping at me that it's not allowed then storms off to get my mail. Slaps it on counter and screeches next. I say, excuse me but I asked if you could verify my forwarding address is in place. She snarls you're filled out form - it's good enough. I responded well half my mail is being held and the other half is being delivered so could you verify. So obviously the USPS Sunnyvale is literally the WORST of all public service. They told me they will solve the problem in 2-3 weeks. But it's already 2-3 months, the problem is never solved. And the ridiculous thing is, they will just label your service request as "resolved" in their system but actually it's NOT. Their manager and staff are just shameless liars and will just eat their own words and lie to your face without a blink. You'd better pray that your letters and mails never going wrong with USPS or you'll have to face the fact that they will never help you with it, the problem will never be solved, and you'll suffer from all the loss caused by them on your own. read more

I have informed delivery so I see a daily report about what was scanned and is supposed to be delivered... well, this post office or carrier or whoever keeps never delivering letters, envelopes, etc that I am supposed to get. This is totally not acceptable... I report items that were not delivered but still never get them. Yesterday I used my lunch break to pick up a package that was supposed to be delivered. I requested the package to be dropped off and signed the slip but it never arrived so I went in according to the slip they left. I arrive at Encinal Station and wait 15 min, not too bad, but when I get there the employee tells me the package isn't there but instead at 209 E. Java, which is around the corner from my house. I get to 209 E. Java and Eric T, "helps" me get my package. He's snappy with me and as I'm getting my Id out he says over and over, Id! Id! I need your Id! I finally give him my Id and I request to see the Manager. He asks what for, and I explain the situation and instead of apologizing he points out that the address is crossed out and the correct one is listed. The employee at the first post office wrote that on there. I ask who the supervisor on duty is and he said No one, but the employee next to him points at him. He asks if I need anything else and then rips up my delivery ticket. No apology and terrible service. Waste of time and money driving across Sunnyvale during my lunch break. read more

Parking is plentiful now that the patrons can park behind the former gated area for mail trucks. However both times I have had to mail a package from this location I was assisted by a very rude, condescending older Asian lady (I think of Vietnamese descent). If one has questions and doesn't know mailing rates, best to go elsewhere. read more

The employees here are very helpful! They helped me save money on the shipping costs of packages I was mailing, and offered assistance without me having to ask. I've also used the self-service kiosk and it was simple and fast. I haven't had to wait in long lines here either, maybe because I've been able to go on weekday mornings. read more

This USPS location really does suck. The parking situation is horrible. Even if the gates are open, all of the spaces are taken up by mail bins or mail trucks. I do not know why the post office thought 10 parking spots outside of the gate would be enough since there is NO DRIVE THRU DROP OFF anymore. I am like most and hate to wait in the long lines. I frequently use the automated machines to avoid the lines. However, the automated machine is either down or broken at this location. I have mentioned this to the staff numerous times but it has not been fixed in months. The screen still flickers or freezes in the middle of a transaction. I am better off driving to the Fremont Avenue USPS (which is triple the distance from my starting location). read more

On my second visit, the counter clerk took my address info and cell number again and promised me that the Manager will call me--NEVER HAPPENED! The Asian at the counter lady told me that priority mail can go up to 1lb but USPS website says "Maximum weight is 70 lbs." The counter workers need to be re-trained again. I was sending 28 packages and the counter workers told me that I can ship only 10 package at a time and I have to go back to the line to ship another 10 packages and go back to the line again. This is nonsense. I asked where the policy mentioned and she couldn't reply . This is the worse post office I have ever been to. Wendy was so so rude. It was very hard to understand her and instead of listening to me, she just kept cutting me off and yelling at me telling me that she didn't want to look through all the packages they had in order to find mine so I should just wait for it to come or come some other day. I had to ask to see another employee who was willing to look for my package and get it for me within a few minutes. Had I listened to Wendy it would have been a waste of a trip and I would have left without my package and feeling frustrated and offended by her treatment. I understand it's a government institution, but it would be great if my tax dollars resulted in even slightly better customer service. read more

Given the prevalence of negative reviews, I wanted to leave a positive review for Java USPS olcation. I always had positive experience at this location, whether at the customer service desk or after hours drop off. I recommend NOT using any USPS location (or Fedex or UPS) during busy hours with long lines. The customer service is very helpful, but customers not experience with shipping often come completely unprepared, and have completely unreasonable expectations on how long it takes to ship multiple packages. The time to print your shipping labels, write address etc... is really not at the post office, but at home. If you've ever tried to ship 10+ holiday packages to family, you know it takes quite a bit of time to generate shipping labels etc... even if you have them completely packed. I'm amazed at the number of customers who walk into this location without a pre-printed label simply because they wanted to save ~ $2 on shipping and didn't have a scale at home. Another great positive about this location is that it has some of the latest hours for unattended drop off service. I've had packages dropped off past the 5PM deadline, that went out same day (but don't count on it). The negative is that the parking lot is tiny. I would say this is my main complaint (and the reason I don't recommend coming in during busy hours). This is a large office from operations standpoint - if you ever come after 6PM - there will ~ 50+ USPS trucks parked at the location in a U shape around the USPS building. Not sure if they have more space to expand the customer parking lot without losing USPS truck overnight parking space, unfortunately. read more

The online service and options are horrible. I needed to schedule an appointment for Finger Printing Services, but that is not an option you can select on the website. So I scheduled an appointment for a passport. I called several times every day for a week. I wanted to talk with someone to confirm that I needed an appointment for finger printing and never got a hold of anyone, so I canceled the appointment I had. If I call every day, at different times throughout the day, why was it still impossible to get a hold of anyone to answer my simple question? It makes me upset that I have to give them one star before I can submit my review. read more

Worst USPS experience. I was tracking my package and noticed an update saying a delivery was attempted and notice left, at the time I was home. I did not hear any door bell, so I checked my security footage, no one ever came. Turns out they left the notice inside mailbox, how do they expect to find a person to sign, at the mailbox? I took the notice, and out of the few delivery options listed, a "pick up" was already circled for me, so I thought ok I guess I can only attempt to go to the store and pick up. I went to the store, took 3 people to attempt to find my package and failed. Finally the last person said, sign the notice and put it back in the mailbox, the package might be out for delivery already. Fine, I signed the notice and put it back in the mailbox, 3 days gone by, no sign of redelivery, no tracking updates, nothing. Next time, maybe actually try to delivery the package before putting out a notice, or delivery the package in one of those locked package delivery boxes, or let the customer decide how he/she wants to handle the re-delivery, or have the package actually sits inside the facility after circling "pick up" for the customer, or get a new manager that actually knows how to manage a place. read more

First, the mailman did not leave a doortag at the time he said he did. We were having a Halloween party right in front of the apartment mailbox and he did not show up. At the office, since I didn't have a doortag, they didn't even TRY to find my package. I am leaving in a few days and they just said they'd find the package and redeliver it. They threw it onto the desk and left. They ignored me when I wanted to talk to him again 5 SECOND LATER to make sure what he was going to do with the package, because he was in a rush and didn't elaborate. I am going to request all my packages will go through UPS or FedEx or go to my Cupertino house. The post office in Cupertino has never been awful to me. had enough. Update: I ordered a small purchase, not knowing a shipper required a signature. I did redelivery, and nothing came. Wow... is it normal for this office to lose redelivery packages? I sent a complaint to the post master inspector general, but I highly doubt that helped anything. When the DMV is a more pleasant experience than this post office, they have a problem. read more

My new postal deliverer has been delivering the wrong mail to my address couple times in the past 2 weeks and since it is locked boxes, I can't really put wrong packages into the neighbors box, I can only drop it off. I like this post office very much. The clerks in the front are very friendly and helpful. I also enjoy browsing through the many greeting cards they carry. The Sunnyvale post office has horrible customer service over the phone. Actually, that's not fair. Most of the time, I haven't been able to get a human to answer my phone call for various incidents over the past 6 months or so. Hard to rate service if no one helps you. Why does the national call center tell people to call the local branch? So useless. The 1 time I did get through, the person couldn't help me and promised to call back after research. Bet you can guess how this story ends. Months later, I still don't know if my package disappeared or was delivered at another time. The worst part is that I have no other options.
