The Sunnyvale post office has horrible customer service over the phone. Actually, that's not fair. Most of the time, I haven't been able to get a human to answer my phone call for various incidents over the past 6 months or so. Hard to rate service if no one helps you. Why does the national call center tell people to call the local branch? So useless. The 1 time I did get through, the person couldn't help me and promised to call back after research. Bet you can guess how this story ends. Months later, I still don't know if my package disappeared or was delivered at another time. The worst part is that I have no other options. The number of parking spaces here is severely lacking. So is the customer service. Last month I went to passport appointment, and Connie was extremely rude. I did spend a few hours reviewing all the guidelines and instructions beforehand to make sure that I filled out the application correctly and provided all the proper documentation. Connie went out of her way to make me feel that I'm an idiot for not knowing all the rules (that she ought to know because it's HER JOB), and that my existence in this world is torment to her. She could have at least attempted to enunciate her matter-of-fact instructions. It was oftentimes hard to understand her heavily accented mumbling/muttering). Her extreme slowness and rude attitude makes me wonder why my tax dollars continue to pay for the salaries and retirement fund of asshats like this. Made the folks at the DMV seem like angels in comparison. If the postmaster general fired all the people like Connie, the USPS would be a lot more efficient and perhaps be financially solvent for a change. read more

Came here to mail a package to a friend. The location is small and if you're me, you might drive past it once or twice without realizing it. Thank god for GPS, right? First door you get to is actually the exit, not the entrance. Not sure why they have it lock from the outside, but keep going to the next door. Grabbed a self-assemble box for shipping, but found that it did not have the adhesive strips for closure, and instead required purchasing tape. For those prices? Yeah right. Ended up going with a large padded envelope instead. While I was packing and addressing my mail, one of the cashiers called over and asked what I was mailing and where. I guess he was trying to be friendly but he came across as suspicious. Repeated himself several times until I just said I was sending a gift to Nevada. Why it's his business, I don't know. No pens at the counter to address your mail or fill out paperwork, had to ask at the front desk for one. Only one other customer came in while I was there. I also grabbed a greeting card to stick in my package, too. Total came to about $12 for priority shipping, which is higher than I'd like but not really in my control. All in all, small location that doesn't seem to get busy. At least not in the middle of the day. Probably wouldn't try to go here if it was in the afternoon or weekend though, I can see it getting busy and slow very easily. read more

Since the Post Office on Mary had to close since they lost their lease to Apple they moved over 101 to the Moffett Business Park. The downside is the customer parking lot is very small, but there is a sign that allows you to park where the Mail trucks park when they are gone. Service here is hit or miss. I do a lot of mailing here for my clients so it depends on the time of day and how many people are staffed for public counter service. They also take Passport photos here for $15.00. It is convenient and not that well known except by the locals. read more

*Review is for passport services! I made an appointment about 3 months in advance for Aug 21 at 9am. I had no issues scheduling an appointment. The lady who helped me schedule an appointment was helpful and let me know of all documents to bring for a passport renewal. Make sure you also have all documents needed for a speedy process. Side note: they take passport photos here for $15. I took mine elsewhere for $10. I'm sure if you do some Yelping you can find a more professional and affordable place to get your passport photos taken. On the day of my appointment, I came at 7:30am in case it was busy or something... I've heard too many horror stories about getting a passport renewed at the post office. However, it was not busy at all. The passport office itself opened a little bit after 9, and I was seen immediately. The lady who did all my paperwork was SO friendly. I wish I had gotten her name, but she was a sweet Filipina lady and made awesome conversation with me. I was out the door by 9:30am!!! It was a quick and delightful experience. read more

It was very difficult to get a passport appointment. I called numerous times and it was always busy. After a few days of calling & calling & calling & calling I finally got someone. The only appointment was a month away. Which sucked but not terrible so I booked it. The appointment during was fine. However, I took a photo at this location. The person taking the photo didn't really seem to know how to use the camera. And in the end, I got a notice from the government that the photo does not work! I paid money for a defective photo and now I have to go and get another one taken and mailed in. Word of advice do not take your photo at this location; go somewhere else and make sure it's correct. The experience was fantastic today - very unlike a couple of years back. We went for passport renewal as well as to mail a couple of items and we received stellar service. All staff were pleasant and patient. They also went out of their way to speak in broken Spanish to help a customer with their query. One of the best post office experience I have had in years. This is the closest post office to my home. Back in the day, I would go to Mary Avenue to drop off my packages and pick up packing supplies. When that location closed, I had to go to the one in Fremont Avenue. Lo and behold! I discovered that there was actually a post office that was closer to where I lived ! Initially, I went there and I was frustrated with parking. It seemed that everybody wanted to mail something. He ! He ! After a few years, parking here has been better. They opened up the back part of the parking area which was supposed to be meant for their mail delivery transport. Now, when the front parking gets full, people can park further back. What a relief! Yes post office has ample parking now. I have never had any experience where I had difficulty parking just like the first time I came here. This is now my post office. It can get busy in the morning specially on Mondays where the line can get really long. However, staff is fast and friendly so there really isn't any hassle unless you are very impatient. Often times come by to drop off my packages during the weekend or after hours. They have plenty of chutes for different sizes of packages. The main entrance door is always open - weekends included. This is the main post office of Sunnyvale where they also have passport services. The main person Who takes the passport applications, new and renewal, is friendly and accommodating. Just make sure you make an appointment with her. She's very fast and very efficient with what she does. Besides the passport lady, the main post office staff is also efficient. They always indicate which one is which in my mailing receipt, that way I can track my packages properly. Even the lady that picks up the packages that have just been dropped off is very friendly. They have schedules for pick up and the last schedule for pick up is five in the afternoon. Surely I will be coming back here. The office is clean and organized. They don't run out of my boxes or my envelopes. Whew! read more

I appreciate that the USPS is still here. I feel bad for those that work here, the aesthetic is depressing. Getting your passport? Appts are scheduled about a couple months out. As inconvenient as it may be, go in person to book your appt. I think overall they answer their phone about 10% (generous estimate) of the time. When your appt comes around, be prepared, and have all your paperwork and documents ready. If you are ever in the mood to get yelled at, there's a lady here that can help you with that. She answered some questions I had about a vacation hold, and yelled at me. But not really, I think it was a cultural thing....she was just talking loudly to me :) Saw the review of the dude complaining about his boxes sent to Hawaii with before and after pictues--FWP!! Worst place for passport service. I scheduled a passport appointment 4 months in advance for July 24th at 9:45am but instead of assisting me they took a walk in. I gave my name and information but they still let the walk in go ahead of me. I was assisted an hour later at 10:45 because Roxane said it would be quick and this family has been waiting since 9am (without an appointment.) it turns out this family claimed they were the 9am appointment, which was false and were pushed back and given my slot. Coleen said the family lied when she called my name they raised their hand and said that was them... which is why they got my slot but their ID or passport information did not match. When I finally got assisted it took 45 minutes to purchase my money order and fill out paperwork that would have taken 5 min. (She worked at a snails pace and it was grueling to watch her slowly staple two pieces of paper together while I was very late for work.) Roxane and the other lady working took the liberty to express to me how slow Coleen works as they gossiped saying my appointment would last 5 minutes but since it's Coleen, it would probably take 30. They weren't lying because it took about 45 minutes and I left around 11:30am. Roxane and the other staff didn't seem to care about the urgency and encouraged me to sit back and relax, go grab a cup of coffee, etc on a busy Monday morning. When I was finally being assisted I was told to checkout at the register but the line was full. I went back and asked Coleen if it would be possible to ring it up herself on the empty register but she said I had to go to the back of the line and wait. I waited 15 minutes to ring it up before she began working on my paperwork, keep in mind I had all my scans, photos and pre-filled forms so it should have been a breeze but it turned out to be a very excruciating process and no one seemed to care that my appointment was stolen due to the horrible book keeping and relaxed demeanor of this branch. Overall the experience was very unrealistic, it felt like the DMV scene from Zootopia. I do not recommend wasting your time here. The branch in Santa Clara seemed to answer their phones quickly and express actual customer service when I called to inquire about my passport. So I'm waiting inline to mail a package and notice one lady helping a gentleman taping his boxes than in the next line the lady isn't letting the other customer use the tape to tape up her oacjage and starts selling her on buying $4 tape for her small box. I go in line and ask if they aren't letting anyone use tape? Because I've never had a problem using tape at any other PO before. The old Asian lady clerk with short hair was rude and pushy. I was in line first but she took another rude customer before me. She asked me for my address so she can find my package, before I wrote the whole thing down, she stopped me after the street address. She yelled, "NO NO NO write the apartment number! Apartment number is very important!" I said, "It's not an apartment." There was no one else behind me but she was pushy and tried to get rid of me quickly. No manners. read more

I declare i'm an expert since I've been to 3 post offices today and waited on the never-answering call for over 45 minutes...and have been trying to get answers on the USPS website which wasn't helpful either... frankly, the first lady at the counter was pretty unhelpful... she said if it's not more than 30 days late or missing-- i can't file a claim... she has nothing to look up. but on my second visit to this postoffice today, they made an effort and I ended up talking to three people (2 were managers I think). Detective work and effort from the Lundy post office, my mail carrier and the java location got us on the right track and hopefully my package will be tracked down instead of in it's mail processing 'loop' it's been in. I am SO grateful they took the time to speak to me and try to help me... people make a huge difference... life can't be automated...a big thank you!!! read more

The Sunnyvale USPS main office moved from Mary ave to this Java location This place is not as convenient to stop by or service the residence of the old area. The location in the Moffet Business Park surrounded by one way streets and VTA lgt rail which make it only convenient for maybe company mail drops. The service area is not as large, parking lot is a lot smaller and there is NO parking or Stopping on the street, or a drop box area. If you miss the parking entrance you end up circling the block. I don't think they put a change of address sign at the old place. United States Postal Service do you want to stay in business? Update: They opened the fence where the postal tuck park overnight to give a few more space for visitors. Yea some progress. read more

Mailed 3 boxes of persimmons from Sunnyvale to Hawaii on a Wednesday and it arrived on Friday, the same day I got there. 2 boxes I went to the counter in the morning and I was helpedby an older Indian lady complaing about the weight. The third box I mailed in the afternoon snd used the self-serve kiosk. All 3 boxes looked like they got run over by a truck when it arrived. I expected some damage to the boxes but the damage was ridiculous. I can't wait till all these postal workers lose their jobs because they obviously don't like what they do and it shows. This place was horrible. We had the worst customer service. In fact, the lady that (didn't ) help us, is included in the photos. My bf and I came in here clueless/helpless and wanted to ship out our eBay items. Since, it was our first time doing so, we got the boxes that would fit the items, and then put the prepaid labels on them. However, the lady that helped us informed us, we did it incorrectly (which is fine). But instead of correcting us, and informing us on how to do this process correctly and more efficiently, she decided to cause an unnecessary scene. Perhaps, we frustrated her because we did everything wrong, but if that's the case, we even apologized for the inconvenience. You should still handle your attitude more professionally. We didn't come here to make your day difficult. Neither of is were confrontational or giving her any attitude. In fact we just stood there and took her belittling. We left there humiliated for no reason. Not only did we not ship our items, but we are never coming back here. we are going with FedEx, as this whole process/trip was a nightmare. I submitted a re-delivery request two days before the new re-delivery day because I missed the first delivery online, and received a confirmation number. However, I did not receive the parcel on the re-delivery day. The website was not updated with any information. I called up at 8:00AM, the answering machine told me that postoffice started at 8:30AM. Unfortunately, the telephone line did not seem to work after 8:30AM, I made 6 phone calls after 9:00AM (every 30 minutes), the line was always "busy". I had to go to the postoffice in person to figure out what was happening. I arrived there at 3:20PM, and saw 3 counter clerks. They did not serve customers at the same time, they were in and out..... I am not sure about their job description..... After the only clerk finished up her sweet but LONG chat with her friend customer, she took the tracking number paper from me: 1. The clerk could not find my parcel in the parcel shelf. 2. She asked me to line up outside of the Passport office to ask for delivery manager. 3. After 10 minutes of waiting, the Passport office closed 4. I had to ask the other clerk who was not helping any customer for help, he paged the delivery manager 5. The delivery manager came and took all the information I had for my parcel and disappeared from my sight. 6. 20 minutes later, the delivery manager appeared and went to the same parcel shelf the first clerk used, he located my parcel THERE!!! Man, it took 40 minutes to get one simple parcel pick-up done. If the first clerk was dedicated to her job to find the parcel in the first place, we did not need to go through such inefficient process, which was involved at least two more people and 30 more minutes. While I was lining outside the Passport office, people complained about parking "cars are lining up to the street". The answer from a clerk was "if you come before 3:00pm, there will be plenty of space". Be prepared and be patient if you need to use this postoffice. read more

Easy process to get your passport renewal! You just have to make sure you make an appointment early, bring all the required documents, and finally watch out for the horrible long line inside to pay and receive your money order. Apparently they under understaffed so there is usually one lady ringing up 15 customers..not cool. read more

My order was shipped from eBay with USPS postal fees. the tracking number shows the package has been delivered online and i haven't received any package. after talking to global USPS contact number, they had suggested to talk to this post office. After multiple tries i could get hold of someone in the office and she took the tracking number and mentioned she will check with the carrier and update me. after 1 day I called them back as i din't get any update and that lady put me on hold and left for more than 10 mins, I got pissed off and have to hung up the call. read more

I gave it an honest go with a PO box here for my new business (because boxes left on our doorstep are likely to be stolen). Right off the bat - the very first box I had delivered - was lost somewhere in the back. The only reason I knew it was there was because I had online notification of delivery. I had a second delivery arrive a couple days later, that one had a notice left in my box, which is when I asked about the first delivery (I thought maybe there was some processing time). The clerk went and looked, came back and said she couldn't find it - shrugged - and said she didn't know. I had to ask a few times about what happened now about lost packages, and I was sent to an office. After about a 30 minute wait, my small package was found somewhere in the back. I thought maybe it was a fluke, and continued to give my PO Box a shot. A few weeks have gone by where I have received everything that I have expected. I did learn that with some deliveries, those delivered from FedEx or UPS in the "mail drop", will go to San Francisco for processing and this can add an additional FIVE DAYS to your delivery time. If you pay for fast delivery, this can triple your delivery time (and your online delivery notification is useless). Don't waste your money, unless you're willing to gamble. Today, they lost a Registered Mail delivery. It was delivered yesterday, according to USPS.com ("Notice Left" at this post office, it says). I went to pick it up today, and they "can't find it". I have to return tomorrow (silly me, I forgot the registered number... thinking I'd just go pick up my parcel) with the info so they can "look in the computer". Another oddity is you sign a piece of paper saying there will be notifications by email when you have things arrive (I thought). I received an introductory email saying that I have been added to the service. I've had maybe a dozen deliveries of all kinds - registered, regular, signature required - no notifications, ever. Not sure what that was for. On a brighter note, the staff are generally friendly (although don't seem to care too much -- to be expected, perhaps). I simply can't add any stars to this review though - losing mail on multiple occasions within one month - within the post office itself - is about as bad as it gets. But a couple of the clerks here are quite friendly and nice to deal with. Parking is terrible at busy times (narrow crowded lot, no street parking, sometimes wait in a queue on Java blocking a lane waiting to get in). Anyway, I am headed off to UPS private mail boxes. I simply can't trust my PO Box if they lose Registered Mail deliveries to my business. Who knows what else I will miss if I don't have delivery confirmations, and I can't afford to lose my supply deliveries like this. UPDATE: I am adding one star, because they found my missing parcel today. I never received a notice for it, which is quite bad I feel, but at least they found it and I have my stuff. I am disappointed with this postal service facility. The customer service representative told me a few years ago that there are a few people working in the postal service that will take your mail. My package never left this facility. It was never delivered to me in the first place because the tracking record was never reported. Also, my other piece of mail was lost in the system at this place. Nobody cares at this facility. You cannot rely on your mail going through this place. And that is why I mail my most important mail at United Parcel Service. They get it done right! read more

Review for PASSPORT service. What a great experience! Arrived at approximately 8:50am for my 9am appointment, parking lot was nice and empty. Everything went smooth and quick, I was out of the post office at 9:12am. I'm glad that they only take appointments and no walk-ins, no more waiting in long lines for hours while babies cry and kids kick and scream. It went better than I expected! read more
