Mail carrier stole my package. She argued with me and immediately accused me of losing it when I asked if she could double check parcel boxes. She confirmed she placed it in my mailbox then doubled down and said "i don't know maybe i delivered it at door and it got stolen" I have two witnesses to this interaction who also kept asking her to make up her mind on the lie she wanted to tell. She was shocked to learn she would be reported for this and scurried off. She expected me to accept it was lost and move on. "Nothing can do. You lost it. Sorry" "i did. I remember put package in box!" "It was small box. I did yes!" Her words. It may have felt like jewelry to her. It was medical devices in a small box. Writing a negative review of a US post office seems pretty redundant. I imagine the same is true with writing reviews for DMV offices. But, I digress. I've been using Facebook Marketplace to sell items. Marketplace uses a flat rate shipping fee based on weight. There is no place to insert the dimensions of the box, nor does Marketplace care, because, again, it's all based on weight. Yesterday I tried to drop off a package that was under 4 pounds. It was a bigger sized box because the item, while light, was 24" long. The woman working the counter says, "The weight is fine, but the box is too big." She calls over someone (her supervisor, I'm guessing) and he asks about the weight. She repeats that the weight is fine but the dimensions of the box are big. She then proceeds to pull out a measuring tape to figure out the dimensions. She asks if I put in the measurements when I prepaid the shipping. I explained it was through Facebook Marketplace and there is no place to put the dimensions. That explanation was deemed unsatisfactory. After some back and forth with the supervisor she tells me it will cost an additional $90 to ship the package. WTF? My patience being at its limit, I walked out and drove to the post office on Kiely. The package was accepted by the manager (he's always super friendly) without an issue. I have been avoiding the Kiely office because parking is a pain. But, from here on, I will be exclusively going to Kiely. Oh, also, after I left I noticed that the prepaid shipping label I got from Facebook Marketplace clearly states "NO SURCHARGE." So, if you sell through Mercari, Poshmark, or Marketplace, save yourself the aggravation and avoid this post office. read more

This location does not have its own designated parking lot which makes it a little difficult. It has street parking. It is also extremely small and can be difficult to find if you don't know what you're looking for. The only perk is that it has a self service and drop off area that is always open where the PO Boxes are. I would not go out of my way here unless it's after hours and I really need to ship/drop something off. read more

Review for the white guy who calls himself: FRANK I never knew this post office was this bad? It wasn't like this before. I see all the reviews and now I will never return. The one on Kiely (Santa Clara) is so much better. I happened to just stop by 15 mins before closing and the only window open who calls me, was this white guy who already had an irritated look of having to be there til 5pm. There were 3 more customers behind me... I had to send out 2 packages (as a return) which had pre-paid labels sent from the company. The boxes were shipped in the original packaging/boxes. The FIRST remark he makes is: OH, 7oz? we'll see about that! I had no clue what he was talking about. Then after weighing the two, he mutters, YEA RIGHT! and rolls his eyes. He then prints out the receipt and throws it towards me. Then takes the two packages and throws them down into his outgoing bin? (regardless if it had 'FRAGILE' written all over the box) Now I'm pissed, I asked him 'WHAT HIS PROBLEM WAS', and he tells me, your pre-paid label's weights are off. O-K, so I told him it's prepaid labels on the original boxes which were sent by the company. He shakes his head and says, "IT'S OK! JUST GO!". That's when I asked him for his name. The first time I mailed here turned out to be a disaster experience. An old lady helped me mailed an international package. The package arrived, which is a miracle. there is a typo every 5 letters she typed. She typed room 7b to be 78b, also wrong receipter's name. When I asked about the shipping options she only give out price, I have to push her to find out first class shipping has no insurance nor tracking (never use this) When I change to priority mail, she didn't mark the tracking number. But most importantly, she didn't show me the address to double check. the usps in Newark always do and because this is my first time mailing international one I was overthinking about concerns but forgot to ask the most important thing. She is extremely unprofessional , she doesn't offer any info and doesn't even meet the minimum requirements for this job. I could lose the medicine for my mom and it cost $400 with $80 shipping fee! This review is for a passport application fair that they organized in April 2017. The post office does not take passport application otherwise as of writing this review. I'm writing this as recommendation to go to their fair if they do it again. Passport application fair point is to give people a change to submit application without booking appointment 2.5 months ahead which has been standard for past 2 years as I learned. There are some post offices that take without appoint else where, but they can process about 40 application a day, but they process about 200 at the fair. There are some unwritten practices about passport application process which I want to describe here. The post office was supposed to start processing the application from 9am and do it until 3pm. 5:45am - I showed up about 5:45am. I was person 46. at this point, but 66. in the eventual line. First person showed up 4am or based on some discussion it may have been 3:30am. Sign up for unofficial registration sheet. It's 100% self organized by the people who showed up in order not to actually stand in line at first. Make sure that there are not duplicate lists. There is no guarantee that this gets respected. Official do not accept it. People just have to trust it and line up by it. People hang out around and inside the post office before the actual line is assembled. The post office was open and warm and lights were on. It was nice to just sit down there. People did bring their own seats. 7am - a official came to talk with the people and gave some initial information. He did answered all questions and was very welcoming. He did ask us to form official line. He showed where to make it. As I told, he did not help in any way in making the line nor did he took the unofficial registration paper. Some active people just started calling out names from it and people nicely formed a line by it. No hassle, no arguments. I hope it's respected the same always. 7:30am - people are given more information how things are going to work. They also say that they'll open as soon as they can. They have done many things to streamline the process. There are more people in the line than they can even handle on that day as far as I can tell. 8:00am - they start checking documents and hand out actual line numbers. They make sure that everybody has what they need. 8:30am - first group goes in to submit the application. I estimate that there are about 500 people in the line. It's the longest line I have ever seen. People are informed about the expected fair application limit again as it was done before, too. 10:10am - I'm 66. and I get to file my application. First person checks my documents even outside. Seconds person calls my number. Third person goes again over my papers and calculates the fees and fills in what ever is needed. Fifth person takes the papers and payments. 10:20am - I'm done. I went to farmers market and didn't check how many they got processed or when did they stop. They estimated that they take about 25 application in 1 hour. Things that made me give 5 starts 1. They started giving info 2 hours before actual opening time. 2. They multiple times gave general info and were always available for additional questions. 3. They started 30 minutes earlier 4. All seemed as streamlined as possible Now something that is not a must, but is super nice extra 5. The post office is in a court yard which is just very beautiful and there are trees that provide shade. Super nice surrounding. 6. The fair is on Saturday and the cross street has Farmers Market on it. Somebody plays guitar and food is available. These 2 last points create just amazing atmosphere which means that people are not grumpy and even long wait seems short. read more

This is the Santa Clara #USPS that I have favored because it has parking. I've changed my mind, thanks to my last visit. Go process this scenario: I visited this location on March 28th, and 29th. On both days, I came to this location with a near identical package with "fragile" written in red marker. Both packages were the same size, same weight, with bubble wrap, and same Priority mail Tyvek envelopes. And- I go to the same clerk at the same window. I had written "Fragile" with a red marker on the shipment envelopes. On Thursday March 28th, the Indian lady at the counter window took the package and gave me a receipt. On Friday, March 29th, there's more scrutiny. She takes the package, puts it on the scale, and tells me that my package would be $9.30 instead of 7.35 because I marked it as Fragile. as opposed to using a padded envelope. I told her that I did not see any padded envelopes. She replied that they do not put them out because customers take them. That's great logic. IF the envelopes are NOT out there, how would customers be aware that they are expected to use them for these instances? I was instructed to re-package my item in a padded envelope to avoid being charged the extra fee. I did, then stood in line again to see if this item would meet with her tacit approval. I was grateful to myself that I went slightly overkill with the tape on the old package, as I needed to reuse the tape for the new package. She "accepted" the package even though some of my tape still bore the words "Fragile". Over the last couple days, I've been shipping items from Ebay sales. I take precautions for myself by weighing the goods, determining what is the correct package for the item, and ensuring that I pad the merchandise with the understanding that USPS has borrowed the Orangutan at the zoo for the day for handling shipments. It's fair. This is not the first time I've sold and shipped items on Ebay. You have to anticipate any possible surprises when dealing with USPS. I have NOT always gone to this branch. Normally, they just take the package, no questions asked. Later in the evening, I verified the conditions that qualify for an extra charge for shipping items (You can purchase Label 139 to mark item as Special Handling, Fragile, qualifying as a 10.35 fee). A customer writing "Fragile" in red marker does not warrant charging an extra fee. And, the fact that she took a similar package previously does make me wonder if USPS employees like her have to have their random power trip. It makes the day interesting. Congratulations- I was the winner on Friday. My husband was waiting for me at the fountain outside. He was bemused by my story, the clerk wanting to charge me the extra 2.00, and the humorous part about the "Correct" padded envelopes, not available unless you ask for them. Usually I use the self serve counter which is really convenient. I try to avoid interacting with the clerks here if I can. They are nice people, but customer service is seriously lacking... Took a pre-stamped package for drop off today, I did not realize the tape at the bottom of the package was falling off and was told I need to take it home to repackage it or buy a roll of tapes from them. I asked if there is a short piece of tape I can use, the gentleman said "no, you need to take it home or buy tape." Meanwhile, I can see rolls and rolls of tape to his left hand side. I feel lucky that I keep additional packing tape in my car so I didn't need to go all the way home. Yes, I could have purchased a roll here as well but that is not the point. All I needed was a short piece of tape to fix an boo boo (see photo), not 10 feet for the whole box... Yes, I'm complaining. I don't know if there is a strict tape policy at the USPS. No one LIKES to deliver the mail, but this is a good enough place to do it if you have to. This is a very old Post Office which makes it kind of cool. They have some pretty sweet old murals that will help you pass the time while you are waiting. And if you go during peak hours that wait might be substantial.The trouble is I am not sure when peak hours are. I have been there at all hours multiple times and have had trouble figuring out a busy schedule. The staff is all pretty nice. I don't foresee anyone going postal here. But they are usually a bit understaffed which adds to the delay. If possible I'd suggest just using their automated system, or dropping things off in the mailboxes outside. They even have a drive through mailbox which is pretty convenient. So if you have stuff to mail then this isn't a bad place to go, but you might be in for a wait. read more

This morning was no different than any other morning I've haplessly and regretfully wandered into the US Postal Office. Do I secretly have a death wish? Do I thrive on frustration and angst? Am I obsessed with dealing with absurdity? I'm not sure, but what I can tell you is that I wish they hired a worker to deliver a blow to the back of my head whenever I walk into here because operant conditioning might be the only way I'd learn to never, ever return. Had a small and lightweight package I needed shipped to NC. I pleasantly and politely began the conversation with, "I need to ship this package WITH tracking as inexpensively as possible." A simple request normally, but after going through all the options for what seemed like 15 minutes with me trying to translate the tellers words into English, we nailed down the details and settled on price and packaging and I began filling out the necessary form, thinking that I was in the clear. How naive of me. "Certication?" "No, don't need certification, I only need the tracking number." "Oh, tracking is extra." "I said at the beginning I needed tracking." "You want Certification, it just as good?" "No, TRACKING. I need to TRACK the package." "Certification will give you confirmation of delivery." "I NEED TRACKING!" "Certification is only....45 cents." " I NEED TRACKING. I need a tracking number!" "Tracking cost more." "How much more?" "Total of . . . . $24.75" "WHAT? That's $15 more than UPS!" "They use a different system." I unfortunately have to mail things constantly for work. Most of the time I take advantage of the convenient drive up mailboxes right out in front on Monroe St. If for some unfortunate reason I have to go inside then the experience isn't quite so pleasant. They have a free parking lot behind the building, but I normally just use the Franklin Square lot on the other side of the building instead. It's twice as big, not nearly as crowded and easier to get in and out of compared to the smaller post office lot. The building itself is really nice, it looks more like a quaint hotel than a post office. The problem with having to use the services inside of the office is the small staff. There are normally only two windows open, which almost always means a long line. Once it is your turn at the window the staff is always very friendly and helpful. They always have the answers to whatever questions you happen to throw their way and are surprisingly pleasant compared to most post office staff I've come across at other locations. read more

Worst experience i have ever had at this USPS today. There was no one in line. So i went to the man working today at 9am and asked for tape. He wasn't doing much but he said " i am busy right now". So i walked away saying "ok, i am only asking for tape". No need to have that kind of attitude and to work in customer service. He finally handed me the tape cuz i think he felt bad. Then when i finally got help with the other woman and after she taped the label on to my package. I asked to have it back to make sure everything is okay she just walked away. And i was left there not knowing what to do. Ridiculous! So i took my package and left to the USPS on Kiely(even tho they were a a lot more busy, they were much nicer). Firstly, they are very rude. I have a home based business, I do more than 2000$ shipping through USPS. I ran out of some priority mail boxes and I went to this post office and requested if I could get some boxes plus the clear envelopes that they use for international mailing. One of the workers in window #3 said since I am a professional I could order that online. I usually go to the livermore post office and I must say they are very courteous. My favorite post office in the South Bay. They avoid long lines by always having enough people working at the counter (which is more than I can say for Campbell!). The workers are friendly- I took my wedding invitations there to be weighed, and they made sure I was using the right postage by weighing it several times for me. When I requested to have the invitations canceled by hand (not by machine), they were willing to do it. When I returned with all 85 envelopes and dealt with someone different, they gave me the same answers! Astonishing. I have had a PO Box at the Santa Clara Post Office for decades. Every year the rental fees have gone up, but service has gone Down. Progressively mail distribution was done by 6am, then methodically changed to where it is now 11am. Rates have gone from a yearly rate of$15 To the present yearly rate of $100 +. Parcel pickup window hours have also drastically changed sometimes making it impossible to pick up because of work or other obligations. Does this make sense from a department of the government which is to serve the people? Is this how patrons are to be treated? On May 16 I arrived at 3:15 PM to find that the lobby has new hours 8:30AM to 3:00 PM The Campbell Post Office lobby hours are 5am to 6PM. This is a big disparity in service and unfair to patrons Who Pay to have access to their mail but are not receiving services. I cannot think of any valid reason why patrons have literally been locked out. I cannot think of how COVID19 could affect an empty lobby and hours. Well yet again, I got screwed by them. This time because I live at my parents house again... They don't like me shipping things (they're very controlling). I asked the USPS to hold something I ordered. They're all "SURE! No problem it'll be here on the 30th" Did it get held? Nope instead I got yelled at.
