Late morning on 12/15/25 there was a long inside line for the counter, staffed with 3 workers. Efficient and friendly guys not flustered by the onslaught. They took their time without hurrying up the customers while working calmly. My guy even laughed at a joke. read more

I wanted my Christmas card delivered to my grandson, the new Manager David C. Bisgrove @ The ITH Santa Barbara Beach Hostel, 134 Chapala St. Santa Barbara, CA 93101. It was sent from Albany, NY on 12/18/2024 and returned to me on 1/10/2025 marked "Not Deliverable as Addressed, unable to forward. My grandson is the new manager of this establishment. The card was not delivered. He lives at the Hostel. It is his home as well as his place of business, He moved there from LA before I mailed the card. I am very upset as I mailed him a check for Christmas. I stopped payment on the check on 1/9/25 and it cost me $30. The next day the card was returned to me. Why in heavens name didn't the postman deliver it to the ITH Santa Barbara Beach Hostel??? Now i would like to mail him some cookies, should I mark it "deliver as addressed!" ? read more

Staff are nice but be wary of shipping anything of value. I've had so many of my packages crushed and items damaged.

Negative stars if I could. Supervisor does a very poor job. Lack of communication and customer service. We had a horrific incident where a carrier pepper sprayed our small 1 yr old dog through our fence. (Because he barked) Our mailbox is outside our property on the street. Mail carrier in a vehicle. subzero stars for this horribly managed, supervised post office. the supervisor, i think he is daniel, needs to get a job where he's competent. not only does he allow a line of 25 people, out the door, to be served by...........one counter clerk, but when a carrier avoids getting out of his truck to deliver a registered letter that needs a signature, but the carrier is lazy despite his contract to serve the public, the supervisor tries to avoid that carrier having an official complaint put in his file by saying he'll talk to him. nonsense. that carrier needs to be complained about until he is fired. how do i know? because i am a postal carrier and i take pride in the quality of my work, as do some........some........of my fellow workers. avoid the san roque post office if you can. it is terrible. read more

I have had a P.O. Box here for 30+ years. I pay for a P.O. Box the doors open at 7am but they will NOT give me my package till 10am!! The associate actually took time out to tell me this! I've never had a bad experience with this post office. I find the staff to be very friendly. One of my favorite guys from the Patterson office moved to this location so it's nice to see him again. It's my new go-to location since I now have to work from home. These are tough times so we all need to be patient. read more

By far the worst post office in Santa Barbara. The line is almost always out the door and the staff is incredibly irritable. It's seriously worse than the DMV (didn't know that was possible until I found this USPS) One time my package was too big by 4inches and the counter lady couldn't explain to me how the packages were actually measured... (L + W + H + Girth) Took me 4 trips from my house and back and 8 different measurements before I was explained the proper measuring technique... Another time I had my box all taped up but didn't write out my slip before approaching the counter... I had just waited 20 mins and the clerk made me go to the back of the line... I then waited again and got to the front of the line and didn't have tape (cause my box was all taped up already) and they tried to charge me to tape my packing slip to the box! These are just a few of many horror stories I have from the San Roque USPS! BE WARNED!!! read more

I usually go downtown or to Patterson for my US Mail needs but a friend told me about San Roque.... uhh in short not a good recommendation. Here's why: 1. No parking 2. Crazy, Congested Traffic 3. Long Line (with unprepared people) 4. only 2 of 5 stations open 5. Customer Service rep was very rude, basically called me a liar because after declining my postage request I told her I had done it before and her response was that she had been there 17 years and knew they didn't do that.... excuse me? Why would I lie about postage?? Anyway my needs weren't met, I'll never go there again and I'm left wondering why after 17 years at the post office she lacks customer service skills (especially for a counter clerk) and hasn't been called out about her obnoxious smirk and demeanor. Hello Post Office!! If you want to increase revenues and revive the US Postal Service you may re-think who you have at the counter! A basic rule of customer service is NEVER calling a customer a liar and having a professional appearance. If my experience is any indication of how this customer service rep carries herself on a typical day of service then I think she should go to the back far from the clientele and sort the mail. read more

Zero stars. Worthless post office. Might as well shut it down. How is an indoor drop package Bin "out of order" for months? The point of a prepaid label is that you can just drop it off and avoid lines. I'll just drive 10 min out of my way to an actual post office with employees that aren't lacking by as many brain cells as the folks that run this place. Who hires these sad people? I live around the corner from this post office and yet my mail is never delivered accurately. Our mail has been returned to senders multiple times because our name was on the mailbox for a day, but we still received other past residents mail who are also not on the mailbox. I called this post office twice yesterday and again today because I have confirmation that my package was delivered two days ago, but never received it. Yesterday was helpful and the guy who answered took down my number twice to talk to the carrier and see what may have happened. Today when I called the guy who answered said, "Several other people still have problems. How can I help you?" After that it just kept getting worse. His attitude was unbelievable. He gave me entirely different information than anyone before and he didn't even ask for my information to look into the problem. Thanks for nothing, San Roque Post Office. read more

First off the lobby being open until 3 pm on Saturday is appreciated. Second, the lady at the counter that likes to sing R & B tunes I'm on your side. The gruff "manager", I use that term "loosely" as he never wears a uniform and tosses mail blindly into crates behind him---tried to cut off her singing by asking me, sarcastically, "Hey, bud, I bet you like the entertainment." Being one who never leaves his bag of wit at home, even on weekends, I said, "Yeah, hey, BUD, break this ten into ones, so I can tip." Everyone laughed. The Manager? Not so much... I'm come to expect my mail not arriving or being delivered on time, and rarely to the correct address on the first, second or third attempt, but please, US Mail managers, let them practice their incompetence while doling out the occasional show tune. I live in SB and mailed a certified letter to Sacramento three days ago. I tracked the letter to Tampa, Fla. all the way across the country. The PO originally told me it would take 4 days to get from the Central Coast to Northern CA, and blamed the "slow mail" on COVID. So is COVID responsible for their ineptness as well? I mean, there wasn't one opportunity in 3,000 miles to notice the letter was going in the wrong direction? No one had even bothered scanning it in the processing centers between here and there. I tracked the letter again this morning and apparently, the letter sat in Tampa for almost 12 hours. Funny. Had the Santa Barbara post office just done a reasonable and expected job, the letter would have already been in Sac for at least two days. I called customer service to make sure what I was reading was correct and she told me I should understand that MIS-SHIPMENTS happen ALL THE TIME. Interesting to know. I wonder how understanding she would be if the USPS mis-posted payroll? Why am I posting this review? Because this location is notorious for its terrible service and hopefully, someone will do something about it. read more

I don't like to review parking but in this case I actually avoid going to the PO. Few spots and irate drivers are a nuisance. The lines here are usually long, and my experience is that usually two windows are open. I remember once a third window opened and I was amazed only to then see the employee on the far right took a meal break. The people who work here are more friendly to me than downtown or Patterson. If I must go to one this is my first choice. Also avoid rush hour to minimize having an auto accident. Note my review does not include parking in the stars. read more

Worst post office in history!!! for 3 months I have been going in for and calling and complaining i cant get my mail!!! they keep sending it back. No resolution I. And everyone else at address has no issue after weeks of all their mail being held . Im saddened at their attitude . All they have to do is deliver my mail. I have never had this issue anywhere and have livex in 4 countries and 3 states. They are not pleasant to deal with im forced to pay 100 for a box and Im not convinced they will forward it either. read more

Went to get passport done with my little daughter. The woman was the most disgusting human being I have encountered in a long time. She seems to truly hate her job. She was mean and condescending and passive aggressive. I was missing a form to which she talked to me like a child IN FRONT of my daughter. Needless to say, I am happy that I no longer live in Santa Barbara and I won't ever need to set foot in the post office again, nor interact with that horrible woman. Go elsewhere!! I went to the passport place in my hometown and it was fantastic! The women were helpful and I was in and out in 10 minutes. HORRIBLE SB LOCATION AND HORRIBLE WOMAN! read more

Worst counter clerk lady ever. She seems to take pride in making things more difficult. It would be great if she would be removed from dealing with the public as she seems to despise people. Actually a pleasure to come to this Post Office, even on tax day (well tax days when I get refunds anyway). The staff is nice, knowledgeable, friendly and I think pretty patient compared to other P.O.s. I like the location too, near the Chaucer's bookstore plaza, Harry's, Gelson's tasty but overpriced everythings and dry cleaning. On a beautiful SB sunny afternoon, evening, the mountains as you walk around look so nice, people are out and about and just feels good to be alive and in SB. My refunds make me overly happy at the moment, but seriously this is a fine post office compared to all the ones I've been to. read more

This is the most pleasant and convenient post office in SB, except for parking traffic (the parking area is so busy with other businesses around). The staff is great (the best mail officer is Lisa!). The worst (grumpy and unkind) post officer is an older stunt lady with short blonde hair. Its cozy and you get to meet some nice people during busy times. read more

worst customer service ever!!! had an important letter 3.21.14 mailed at this location to santa barbara, same zip as post office. delivery was to be 3.22.14 --still today 3.27.14 the envelope is in transit according to tracking; as it has gone to new mexico!!!!the clerk who handle the transaction in the first place wanted nothing to do with my request of where-abouts of the letter. the man at the supervisor's window told me " we don't guarantee anything". and was no help either. needless to say, i still don't know when the envelope will be delivered. read more
