I needed to get a mailbox and was honestly dreading having to drive, find parking and then wait in a long line. I came to UPS on Anapamu and the guys were incredibly helpful. I stop in a few times a week and notice that they manage to greet EVERY SINGLE PERSON who enters their store. They are all very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. If you are looking for any type of mail services or need to get a mailbox, this is the ONLY place to go to in Santa Barbara. I have tried a few other UPS locations in town and have left with unanswered questions and unfriendly service by employees who don't seem to want to be at their job. Whatever this great family is doing, it's working and it's spot on! I feel bad about this because the staff are all immigrants that are working hard. On the phone they speak rapidly in accented English that is sometimes incomprehensible. They make promises they cannot keep, and when you get there to accomplish something, you realize they have no idea what they are doing. I needed to ship something packed in dry ice and they made so many mistakes it was scary (dry ice is hazardous when sealed in packages. If I had gone through with what they recommended, it would have been dangerous and these guys had neither the smarts or curiosity about why this may be a problem. When I was there, there was a line going out the door because it was taking them so long to do even routine tasks. read more

Street parking is a challenge but there's a parking lot across the street. This is my go-to for my frequent package shipping. Steve and Bobby bent over backwards to help me with a large shipment. I needed a notary to designate a beneficiary for my CalSaver's account so the clerk walked me through most of the process before he noticed that my wife needed to be present as well. I had already signed, but he had me re-sign and logged the interaction saying the only thing left is to have her come in and sign. He said I did not need to do anything further because he had already verified my information. I re-scheduled on a day my wife and I both had the day off, but this time his "brother" was working and said I needed to re-print the designation form and start all over. I told him I can reprint it but he did not have a computer for me to access the link to the PDF. I told him that that his brother said I only needed to have her come in and sign and it did not matter. Either his brother gave me the wrong advice in the first place, or he did. Either way, I think I will find someone who knows what they are doing. read more

All the people that work there are so friendly, always helpful, and just make you feel very welcomed. One of the gentlemen that works there speaks Spanish and I have seen him take extra time with Spanish-speaking customers to help them get the help they need. Don't go here, they rip you off left and right. Had to overnight something and they said not possible anymore since past cut off time for overnight. I asked since it will not make it overnight is there a cheaper option. They said No, so I paid $126 for the envelope to arrive two days later. A little later that day, I checked UPS online and it did still give me option for overnight AND it was only $76 online. Plus, the 2-day option would have arrived SAME DAY as my $126 "overnight" for only $20 or something (so much for "no other option"). My advice: Don't trust anyone in that UPS store, they are cheaters. Go online and check first, maybe even pay online and just drop off at that location. Better: Go to FedEx and use their 2-day option for $9.95 (which I did for my next shipment since I was so angry with UPS). I will never go to this shop again. read more

I have been a long time customer to this UPS and things have certainly changed within the last month. My elderly mother and I have a mail box here and for the last 4 months she hasn't been receiving her flyers. With her age she isn't good with technology (computer) and enjoys to get her costco flyer. I had over heard one of the gentlemen mention how most of the flyers and "junkmail" are to be trashed. Also, witnessed this action. Isn't it a felony to destroy mail that doesn't belong to them? Never had an issue with this before. Also, they need to stop pushing customers to give good reviews. I heard it 4 times while waiting in line. Reliable and convenient! This particular store is only a few blocks from my home and I've been here a handful of times. It's just off State Street in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, but off the beaten path enough to where it feels private. There isn't dedicated parking to my knowledge but it's located directly across the street from a city lot. The interior is basic but has everything you could need for self service. I've been able to wrap up packages, print items, and take parcel measurements right in their front lobby. There are also a collection of PO boxes to one side of the store. I feel that the service here is always quick and friendly. The men behind the counter don't skip a beat and get me in-and-out in a matter of moments. I know I'm in good hands and can have peace of mind knowing that my parcel will be delivered promptly and safely. A good spot overall. read more

No apologies, just tore it up and gave me a receipt for my item. Had I not noticed the weight issue, I'd have had no proof I returned an $800 item. I don't get the impression they care. No one in line so I waited my turn to be called app for about five minutes tried to be extremely pleasant as I could see she was already agitated. Didn't get much better. A hell on Earth! STAY AWAY! YOUR MAIL AND IDENTITY ARE NOT SAFE! I have had to cancel all my credit cards...banking, everything with any ID on it...call all my banking, financial organizations, and all mail. Put a stop and new address on everything... Very timely to do....and costly. I had over $20,000, worth of checks floating around, that I had to stop...and then wait for... When I tired to work work with them, I have been abused, lied to, hung up on, told there was less mail in June for everyone...it is a P.O, issue! Lol, 1 lame excuse after another...totally incompetents and no integrity, none, NO responsibility no apology! Just too bad...do not text us! I still have not uncovered the purpose of this still unfound mail...inside job? Something is not Kosher...I fear identify theft. Where is my 3 month's of mail? Now, I have sent a letter and texts, terminating my contract...they are refusing to send my July mail. I have paid till the end of July... He wants my credit card number! Hello. More number's! I have been with this box for 35 years...It is a new owner... I am becoming suspicious of foul play...If this continues and my contract is not terminated, and acknowledged... and my new mail not forwarded.[ so far it has not been] I will have to a make a police report. More of my time and energy, for disrespectful and deceptive folk. I guess UPS does not do any back ground check on their franchises, or who works in the store. I have sent myself two letter's with their address...Gone! Not found...probably all my mail goes into trash if it has no value for them... It is not forwarded, not returned. What is going on? I try to only write positive reviews... But I just had a bizarre and upsetting experience here. After waiting 20-25 minutes to drop off some Amazon returns, the clerk promptly started accusing me of "being short with her." I tried to apologize and say I hadn't meant to come off as short, but she cut me off before I could finish and started arguing with me, saying "No, you are frustrated but that is no excuse for being rude and short with me. You were short with me and that is not appropriate." By this point, I was frazzled from being verbally attacked by the clerk, and struggling to match up the Amazon codes with the items. I tried to clarify that I was just trying to match up items, she kept arguing with me and growing impatient, "can't you tell what matches." (Again, this is after waiting 20-25 minutes while a line snaked out the door and the employees did not care). I tried to apologize again just to get through the awful experience, she cut me off again, saying in a REALLY SNARKY, RUDE VOICE "Whatever, it's water under the bridge now."
