Don't count on your print order being ready when they say it will be. I placed an order online because it said it would be ready by Dec 9th at 7pm (I need it for Friday the 13th). I called this morning (Dec 10th) to confirm it was ready before picking up and they said it's not, they don't know when it will be (maybe this week), and didn't offer a solution. The woman was super dismissive and unhelpful. A simple "I'm so sorry, we got flooded with orders so that timeframe is behind. As soon as it's ready we'll let you know, sorry about the inconvenience" would've gone a long way. Just any empathy/accountability or attempt to make it right, but she truly did not give a shit and said "I can cancel your order" lol I'm just super unimpressed by a business that over promises, under delivers, and then doesn't take accountability when that happens read more

Yes it is a chain but truly they have become super efficient. I love that I can order office supplies online via their website and pick it up within a few hours. I went through this process with a new desk chair recently. They had a killer sale going on for office equipment. I also used a coupon code on top of the sale. All in all, I saved 50%; over $110! Best part is I didn't have to pay for shipping and handling since they had it in stock. Even better, I earned Staples Rewards from purchase too! I received an email when my product was ready for pick up--literally within an hour versus the quoted two hours. I used one of the online order spots in the front of the parking lot, went inside, and provided them a barcode on my phone. An employee carried the chair out to my car (not allowing me to help!) and put it in my car's trunk. I was on my way in a matter of 10 minutes! Talk about customer service! I came to the store at 10:45 to get one poster laminated. The man that helped me said that it would take one hour. When I came back in a hour there was someone else there, and I could see my poster in the back, so I said that I was picking it up. The poster was not laminated. The second worker told me that the co-worker was on break, and that he would probably get back to it when he comes back from his 15 minute break. The second worker said he wasn't trained in using the machine so he couldn't help. I came back at 1:10, and the original worker was back and when my husband mentioned he was here for the poster the worker whispered "oh sh*t" and said that the laminator machine was broken and that we could come back at 2:30 for it because the manager would supposedly come and fix it. Just through that response I could tell that worker forgot about the order, and also that there was no communication between the first worker and the second worker I interacted with letting one another know that I had returned and was asking about my order. I know the machine being broken was out of anyone one's control, but what wasn't out of their control was being able to notify me so that I didn't have to waste my time waiting for my item. The worker could have texted or called me that he wasn't going to get the item done within the hour like he had said he would. He could have also notified me once he realized the machine was broken. Went in today to return a chair that was gifted. Returned because it was a defective object, easy exchange. Manager or supervisor that was there around 1:30/2pm was great! Very helpful! Paid for the new chair to get assembled received a call stating it was ready. Went in around 7pm. First impression of the chair was that it was lopsided. Sat down to check it out, super unstable! Young guy who was there working on other chairs noticed that none of the screws were tightened. Proceeded to tighten by flipping the chair onto the dirty floor. Keep in mind this is a white leather chair. Tried to be discrete about the situation and asked him to keep an eye on that. Said he would get a wipe. At the end when I asked if there was a wipe for the chair to be cleaned I noticed that it could potentially be a bleach disinfectant wipe. As he didn't know if they were I decided to skip the cleaning. Helped me to my car. I laid out a blanket for the chair to be set in. He didn't exactly wait or look at the positioning of the chair and decided to push it in. Got home and attempted to clean the chair, stains won't come out. I wanted mounting tape and they had 12 in stock online which I had seen the day before. I was excited to pick up today and they told me they are in the back and will not get them. Horrible service. Staff is impatient and quick to dismiss customers. I placed an online order, received the confirmation email for pickup and arrived to pick up my order. When I arrived, an older lady was waiting for someone to help. A staff member came to help me and I informed him she was ahead of me. He curtly said he knew, then tried to find my order without success. I tried to give him the order number but he stopped me, saying the "print guy was supposed to be here but is not" and that he didn't know when the person would arrive. Very irresponsible and inadequate communication. When a printing staff member showed, he found my order and began to help the older lady. Convent? Maybe. Overpriced and slow service from the Radio Shack of office supplies Definitely. Again, I find myself in line with 9 others, all waiting for Louis in Lane 1. He's doing a great job but needs help from anyone. Anyone out there available to help? I come to Staples for one reason, I need it before Amazon can deliver it. The prices are not amazing and the staff tries but I get better information from online reviews and product web sites. Maybe if there was more people on staff during the lunch and after work hours the team would be happier and more helpful. What do I know about retail. Left feeling I didn't get what I'd gone in for which was a blank sketchbook because the product wasn't on the shelf. The product line is small in some items. Interesting! Called around to find better price to swap out laptop battery. Didn't even think about Staples but I couldn't beat their price. Thomas Kodama, the general manager, had to take my info as the tech manager was working late, but it was fine. I even decided to swap out the hdd with ssd. I didn't think of asking the price for that but it was sooo worth it. One con was that I had to call them to find out about my laptop but after that Mike Kopydlowski was great. When I went to pick it up, the new battery wasn't working any longer. Mike tried to get it to work several times. Got the new battery but Mike was working late but Thomas came over to help me after a few minutes. Mike changed the battery and thoroughly tested it. Swapped it out for free. He helped me plan a custom printing package, encouraged me to do some research to see if I could come up with some savings, replied to my emails, printed proofs that I could inspect before running the full job, and was honest with me about what he could do well and what I might want to figure out on my own. The guy at the tech center was young a didn't know what he was doing. He told me my phone was bent and that it was s mother board problem and he could not help me. He literally looked at my phone for half a second. I took it to a shop and they said it was just the lcd and they fixed it and it works beautifully. Not only that, but that shop also strained out the minor bend in my phone and hooked me up with a case and glass screen to protect my phone.Not only did staples lose my business but they would of been 40 bucks cheaper for my wallet had he not turned me away. I always bring anything I'm printing for crafting projects or party invitations here for printing, and I am always thrilled with the product. He generally gets it done within the day, and calls you to inform you when the project is ready to ensure you don't have to wait in the store for your order. We walked in looking to buy a backpack and a desk chair. We were in the store for 10 mins, found a backpack and began browsing the chairs. At this point we had been in the store for over 20 mins and not one associate had asked if we needed assistance. So we made a decision on a chair which had a 40% off tag on the chair then listed the chair price of $259. Still no associate anywhere in sight so we had to carry the very large and heavy box to the front ourselves. Once we got to the checkout kiosk we were told the chair was already marked off 40% so the final price was $259 because the original price was $400. I explained there was not an original price on the chair just the one price. Then we were told the chair which had a 40% off tag was not on sale after all and that they put tags on all the chairs which was not the case. There were several chairs without them. We told the associate that it is false advertisement and we were told they could not honor the discount listed on the chair so we walked out without purchasing anything as I feel they are not honoring what they are advertising. read more

Fun, young, energetic work staff that really cares about your needs. It's amazing to think these college students are getting paid minimum wage, but still find it in them to care about your needs. I was shopping for a computer and the sales associate who helped me took the time to explain all my questions while finding what my needs were. He then filled me in about all the good deals in the store that he thought I would be interested in... BASED OFF the questions he was asking me originally. It didn't feel like he was up selling me, just advising me based off the time he spent with me. Shocking when you realize there are a total of 3 people in the store not including the manager. The store clerks must have good training here, because not all staples are like this! They don't seem to have good management. I had a manager who was helping me order something they didn't have in store and during that time he was rude to both me and his staff. I get that he was stressed out - when I first asked him if he could help me he sighed audibly and said that they were really short staffed right now, but yeah sure, just one minute. As he was putting in an order for me, I noticed that he was barking at his staff, telling them that such and such wasn't done right, etc. Made me feel even more awkward because honestly his staff seemed afraid of him. Being short staffed isn't fun but don't take it out on the customers or the people you work with. Won't be going back there again. read more

I came in to print a 40 page project that was a big part of my grade. My friend and I were little bit crazy about getting the printing right, but the guy working at the printing station was extremely helpful! He let us print out a test page and then fix our watermark at least 4 times. He even calmed us down when we freaked out and helped us with technical difficulties. The manager kept the store open 40 extra minutes for us. Overall they have great customer service and extremely helpful and accommodating employees! read more

Definitely understaffed. I went in on Thursday to buy a laptop and all I kept hearing over the PA was "Customer call waiting.." Don't expect much help. They have a few good employees, the young black man was very helpful even though he was obviously being overworked, and helping three of us at the same time. Get rid of the cashier girl working Thursday afternoon, she has a severe attitude problem. I asked her about price matching and she replied as if I was taking the money from her. If it's the stress of being overworked and underpaid, let her go, it's better for both her and the store. My boyfriend went in later in the afternoon for a laptop sleeve and had the same opinion of both employees, the guy was very helpful, the cashier girl was not so friendly. I went in to Staples today unexpectedly. I was looking for a place to print my pictures and there it was! Immediately I was greeted by Sage and she helped myself and my friend print our pictures. She was extremely friendly and easy to talk to. There was a small misunderstanding of how to get the pictures to her and she was incredibly professional about it. I asked if they were certain the whole store had no internet and the 15-year-old girl working there became confused and offered to sell me some overpriced flash drives instead, which she then didn't know how to locate in the store. Another turned off customer withdrawing business. Attempted to buy 2 chairs from the store. Only one in stock boxed, plus a "display" chair that they would not part with or box up. Instead of giving us the one in stock & ordering delivery of the 2nd chair, the gentleman made it so both go delivered. We paid for the items with a delivery date of 3 working days & left the store. Nothing from Staples or courier arrived until 7 working days from time of purchase - The following Thursday - where the courier let us know via email that it would be delivered Friday( 8days after purchase). Never showed up. First complaint call to chase up we were told the Courier said "attempt was made but no-one was home at 8.25am", which absolutely never happened. After calling Staples again to rectify this issue we were told that driver couldn't find or confirm the address - although this wasn't the initial reason we were given by courier - this was because the clerk in the store never put a street name or house number on the order....yup, just a town name, a post code, & instructions for driver without street address....mistakes happen, I get it but... Staples didn't flag this up until 8 days after the sale after 2 x 40min+ complaint calls. Was offered another delivery attempt on Monday, 11 days after sale, for $300/400 worth of chairs that we haven't seen but the time had passed & they were no longer of use to me. Reluctantly opted for the refund, but get this, they cannot refund the money to the card that was used to purchase the items over the phone - they can only issue refunds via cheque (waiting for cheque to turn up + time it takes bank to clear cheque & refund the money, on top of the 8 day delay for items....... ) or you have the option of returning to the store you purchased the items in WITH the items you purchased...the problem with this is we cannot take back items we never received - apparently this is the case because of their 'internal stock systems' - if a refund is attempted to be issued their system will not allow it unless the 'sold items' are "scanned" back into the system - meaning its "wait on the cheque", possibly as much as 2 weeks after purchase for refunded monies, for items that were never received, nor even attempted to be delivered, nor updated on the status of for over 1 week. To add insult to injury, the store is approximately less than 5 miles from where they were supposed to be delivered. On a positive note, after 2 long phone call fob-offs, I pushed to speak to a supervisor, and the kind young gentleman initiated the refund process & a sent a discount for future purchases at Staples - The gesture was appreciated however, due to my customer experience here, or lack there of, I won't be going back to cash it in. We also asked about an HP monitor that we wanted to purchase from the shelf, but there were none in stock & none in the warehouse (and of course you cant buy the display model!!!)....we were left without any kind of answer to as/when or where we could order this from as there didn't seem to be a procedure in place at Stapes for this information. "Probably a few weeks, not sure". They didn't seem that interested in a further sale after spending already close to $700 total in store...totally dumbfounded. Don't know if its Staples or the staff but I have never experienced anything like it.
