I agree with the reviewers here. This post office's mailmen/women are amazingly bad. Over the past few months, I have had packages lost because it was delivered to another address. I had to look for them at my neighbors' porches myself. Holding your mail is not followed. My neighbor once saw a bag of my mail on my front door when I was in the middle of my weeks long vacation. When I came back, no accumulated mail and missed a few important mails. No use calling and asking for help, too. This review is for the passport processing agent at USPS San Ramon office. The old white guy at the passport processing room was extremely rude when I was there with my child. There was no instructions on the door indicating that we need to wait outside or there was a separate line for the passport processing purposes so I knocked on the door and opened the door to see if there's anyone in there and I went inside to see if there's someone that I can talk to. About 10 seconds later, the old white guy came in and told us rudely to get outside and said that we were not allowed to come into the office when no one is there. How do we know if someone is there or not unless we come in and we already had an appointment set up for the time frame. I was bit upset because of his attitude but didn't say anything. He asked us to wait a bit far from the office. I don't know why but followed what he told us to do. However, he didn't have to be that rude to instruct us to do . I will never go back to the passport processing agency in San Ramon office because I don't want to deal with the xx asshole in the future. read more

I was visiting the area and had to get to a post office before closing, so I yelped this location in San Ramon. The parking lot had lots of open spaces. This USPS is clean, well structured and fully staffed. There was a line due to the holiday rush (lots of people were sending out packages), but the wait wasn't long and I was able to have my questions answered and my letter sent out within 10 minutes. I have never had a problem with USPS in Pittsburg, or Brentwood CA and have always enjoyed great service from them. So I was shocked when I moved to San Ramon and began dealing with the San Ramon branch. I have received the Worst service from the USPS from the San Ramon branch. They have misdelivered my packages to the wrong address Several Times! In fact, the very 1st piece of mail I had delivered to me was a package - a beautiful scarf, meant as a gift - and they misdelivered it! And they never did anything about it. They don't pick up the phones during the weekdays! The phone number they have listed just goes into and endless loop that doesn't allow you to leave a message. It's policy not to answer phones on Saturdays (actually told to me by a supervisor). When I did finally reach someone, they didn't know what I was talking about even though I was Returning Her phone call!! She even insisted she never called me, and I still have her voicemail saved. This last time was the last straw! The carrier misdelivered several packages on the same day. I received someone else's packages and he misdelivered mine to another address. I hand delivered the package I received to a neighbor in the evening after I returned home. The next day I went to the branch to look for mine. The carrier was en route when the supervisor called him and he insisted he remembered where he misdelivered my packages and harassed my neighbors (frightening them in the process). Well he was WRONG, because they didn't have my packages, and they aren't going to steal anything from me. And if they did receive my packages, and a little kid tried to do the right thing, and accidentally put the packages in front of the wrong door, it's still not their fault or their problem. It is NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to fix his mistakes and deliver the mail properly. Of all the packages that were delivered to the wrong addresses, the post office never did anything about it as far as compensation is concerned - so other people are walking around with things I ordered from Amazon and Makeup companies. Luckily, Amazon takes care of their customers, but the other vendors, like makeup companies and some independent sellers, I've lost out on. I'm currently waiting for a package from eBay and it's delivery time has passed. I'm sick and tired of fighting with the San Ramon branch to get my mail. The carrier has ONE JOB - put the mail in the correct slots. And the people in the San Ramon branch have a RESPONSIBILITY to provide DECENT Customer Service to their customers instead of behaving as if interactions with customers are the bane of their existences. read more

By far the rudest service I have ever received!! All I wanted was to buy stamps but Susan wanted to spar. I walk up with a smile on my face and say, 100 Celebrate stamps please. Susan says, I don't know what you're talking about...so I say, oh I saw them online. So Sassy Susan says, then buy them online....hmmmm. Ok. So it's like that. So I say, oh ok, wel what do you have. She shows me the standard stamp and the love. I say that's all? She says yup, and I say what about Hanukkah? Oh ya, those... So I buy my stamps and give her my debit card. She says cash back? I can't even begin to describe the depths of my hatred for this particular post office. The people here are rude, disgruntled, inefficient, ineffective and the line is ALWAYS out the door because of how slow they work. Beware if you ship media mail because they will read you the riot act and claim that your mail isn't eligible for media even though it is. I've opened up a case on them in the past but unfortunately I have to continue to use this location since it's the closest one around. If I could give it one stars I would. The old grey haired lady is the absolute worst ever. She lectured me that she had worked for 32 years and trained everyone who works here, too bad she doesn't know what classifies as media mail and what doesn't. I just want to add how awful this Post Office is. I just called to ask how much a PO box is. First of all, the lady that answered just mumbled. When I asked, she said "hold on" very rudely and quietly, put me on hold for three minutes then a different guy answered and told me my answer. I am always very friendly when I talk to people because I know that work is tough. I said thank you so much and have a lovely day and he just hangs up on me. No bye, no thank you. I have gone to this place numerous times and the people that work here are so rude and unfriendly. When I ask the question, they just stare at me blankly. I have made formal complaints against this post office by calling the USPS complaint line at 1-800-275-8777 numerous times. Again my personal time sensitive mail got delivered to one of my neighbors. I don't understand how hard it is for my mail main to put the mail in correct box! Hate coming home to my mail at my door from neighbors house!! Only positive thing about this post office is they have a 24 hour kiosk, however if you use flat rate boxes you can print the labels at home . I had a item that I desperately needed my a certain day before a certain time. I called the post office 800 number to see if I could have my package held at MY local office to pick up. The lady gave me the local number stated that there not open yet but someone should answer. Called and spoke to a lady name saleace or faleace. She stated she would TRY and pull it and call me back. I recently moved into a new neighborhood, and USPS will not deliver our mail until more people move in to the area. I ordered a package unaware of this, and tracked my order. Online, I was told that my package was sent out for delivery. Just wanting to make sure I didn't in fact have to pick it up at the end of the day because I will be leaving for SoCal tomorrow, I tried calling... 10 times. Because even though it's a Saturday and it's 12:00, they can't pick up. Nope. The phone rings once and then goes to a recording asking customers to call back during business hours. Make the extra effort to go to another post office. These people are so rude and just want you to go away. They lost my package and had no idea where it went. After waiting a 1/2 hour I was told "someone will call you". As an experiment I decided to wait to see how long that would take. It's been 2 weeks so far. Pretty sure I won't be getting that call. Dear San Ramon USPS: I'm not sure what philosophy of logic you all subscribe to, but your response to my missing items claim was rather offensive. To say, "I'm not sure if you checked the mailbox, but they were delivered" indicates that you assume I am a complete and utter idiot, and decided to file a missing items claim without checking my mailbox first. No competent person would ever do that. The carrier says he put them in the box - great. I actually already had that information prior to reporting my items missing. The reason I filed this claim is because THEY WERE NOT IN THE BOX. So calling me and stating that he did put them there is not an appropriate resolution to my claim. That's fantastic that your mail carrier has such a crystal clear memory to be able to confirm, with such confidence, exactly where he placed two out of the countless packages he delivers on a daily basis, to such extent that your company feels his say is the utmost resolution you can provide me. Whether you'll be treated as a member of society with respect or like an idiot who doesn't understand how the postal system works. This is by far the worst post office I've ever been to. If you can, avoid it at all costs. There is only one women there that at least seems pleasent and you're lucky if you get her for assistance. The rest unfortunately, are rude. I brought some expensvie wedding invitations in to be hand canceled so that they wouldn't have to go through the machine twice. When I asked the women poliety to hand cancel them she refused. I then poliety asked again and stated that I know for a fact that the post office does hand canceling. She again refused and said they were thin enough to go through the machine. That's not what I asked for. You ask for hand canceling so that they don't go through the machine twice and get dirty and bent. I ordered Priority Package service for a Monday pickup. I went away for 3 days and the package is still here on Thursday! This is 2nd. time the local San Ramon Post Office failed to deliver on its service promises for Priority Pickup. The last time the local post office rep said that the carrier did not get a notice to pick up. I wonder what the excuse is this time? When I called the post office on Alcosta Blvd. They couldn't figure out where my office was located, but that they would send somebody out to pick it up right away. WHAT ????? UPS or FedEx is the only way to go for business package services!!!!! I WON'T EVER AGAIN USE THE POSTAL SERVICE FOR ANYTHING IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!! Seems like a common culture for USPS, rude and not helpful. Seems like most USPS locations I have gone to have the same attitude. What they seem to forget behind the counter is the customers do not sit behind a counter and fill out these forms all day long so their assistance when we need to fill one out is appreciated instead of copping an attitude. I am also writing because my carrier was possibly on vacation, they left packages near my garage door instead of my front door? WTF? in plain view on a busy street for someone to come along and help themselves which almost happened once. When I called the manager whom I could barley understand due to her accent (not knocking the accent, just saying I could not understand her), she basically did not give a rats ass about my issue brushed me off. Which shows questionable management skills. USPS is never friendly and never helpful when I have visited and by the other reviews this seems to be the protocol. Sometime back I had five packages stolen from my mailbox I suspect by the mailman.Visited this postal office over 5 times in between work from Pleasanton and each time they would say we are looking for it and will get back.In short the packages were never recovered even after filing a police report as well as opening a case with postal inspector.The supervisor (Chris?) was absolutely worthless and of no help.The one older Asian lady at the front counter was nice though.What other reviewers have indicated about this office is absolutely true.Because of this experience i had to re route all mails to work.Absolutely no work ethics at this location and such a disgrace. read more

Worst service. I often do not receive a certain monthly bill, they must have been delivered to a wrong address. But since I do get that bill sometimes, I know the sender has my correct address. Then yesterday my doorbell rang and when I opened the door no one was there. Later when I checked my mail there was a notice from the carrier that they had a letter requiring a signature for me and I need to go to the post office. Or go online and enter the barcode number, which I did, and the reply was that they could not locate that number. The carrier did not wait even a little bit after ringing the door bell one time. This place is a joke. In July I received a notice saying that hundreds of dollars of our baby formula being shipping from Germany was lost. We have literally made over 40 phones calls, filled out endless documents, visited this post office many times, all to be told the sender needed to submit a claim for reimbursement. It's now September and I just received a letter asking to verify if it's still lost....ridiculous. Nobody in the office or on the main line was any help whatsoever. We ran in circles time and time again. So upsetting to lose that much formula due to irresponsible package handling. On top of this incident, I called today to book a passport appointment. All websites list the same number to call. I called for an hour and a half and kept getting an answering machine that stated they were closed and regular business hours started at 8:30.....I called from 8:30 to 10am. Finally someone picked up, a rude and very unhelpful lady by the name of Maria, who didn't seem to care at all why I was calling, immediately put me on hold. A man then picks up telling me this is an employee line only. I tell him that it's on every single passport website but he doesn't seem to care, just wants me off the phone. Called into this post office for a passport application appointment. First call I was put on hold for 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure they just flat out forgot about me. Second call I actually got a real person to check on availability. They gave me a list of three dates I'd be out of town for. I mentioned this and was promptly hung up on. The service at this location is very slow. Many clerks have a way of speaking English that is difficult to understand. The worst delay is the window where one must wait to pick up registered letters and mail that has been held. Fortunately, there are several self-service postage machines for weighing envelopes and packages and purchasing stamps. Two of these are locked up in the counter area during hours that the post office is closed, but one of them is in the lobby. The most annoying thing about this post office is the parking. Usually every spot in the lot is full, yet when I go in the post office, there are only 10 or so customers in the whole place. I have a large vehicle and try to park away from the other cars, yet now that has become impossible. I think the post office has leased out their lot to a car rental agency or something. They have put up signs stating that certain spaces are for post office patrons only, but the signs don't do any good if one does not enforce the rule. At any rate, it is just awful. I have a PO box, but I avoid checking it except on Sundays and at night. Something really needs to be done about the lot or the location. read more

So the post office apparently delivered my parcel last week. I was in all day the day it was supposedly delivered. No one knocked on the door or posted it to our mail box. Having phoned the post office on the Friday and being told 'they'd call back' I was still waiting on Saturday morning. So we called on Saturday at 9.30/10/11am to the message: 'our opening hours are 8.30-2pm on Saturday, call back in business hours'. Not quite sure how that works! So I called back today to be patronised by someone who told me it might have been left on the porch and that I can't have been sat by the door waiting all day. Apparently now she is speaking to the carrier but I will be amazed If they call back to let me know what happened to my parcel. Apparently I now have to file a claim, no apologies, no help. I needed the contents of that parcel for a special occasion, so now I am going to have to reorder or track something down in the shops, not an easy job. read more

This post office is slightly below average compared to the free market, as most government-run entities are. I have found their package prices are slightly below those of UPS and FedEx..of course, letters are pricey, but since it's a government monopoly on letters, there is no other choice but to use the post office. Since my place of employment only uses cash for errands like this, I have no choice but to stand in line, even to buy one stamp (that's right, Kel E., if we want to use cash we have to stand in line even to buy a single stamp since the automatic machines only take debit or credit.) Going through that line is what makes this experience so miserable. The workers are typical government employees who know there is no competition for their jobs and therefore have zero customer service skills. They never smile, instead looking like annoyed robots with monotone (and loud) voices. They are also very rude, acting as though the customer, that is, the tax-payer who funds their salaries, is an idiot. Here is a pretty typical conversation (this happened to me today): Me: "Hello, I would like to buy 16 stamps please." Worker: "Why not a book? It is 20 stamps." Me: "I only have a $10 and I..." Worker: (interrupting) "Book is only $8.80" Me: "...and I also have a letter for Puerto Rico which I need to pay for." Worker: --- Takes Puerto Rico letter and weighs it. Says with disgust, "It's only 44 cents, you want the book?" Me: "I guess so.." Worker: "Its ok if you only want the 16 stamps." Me: "Well I actually need 17 if Puerto Rico is the same." Worker: "You want 17 stamps?" Me: "Just give me the book then." Why it has to be so difficult, I don't know. If you are going to this location, take an extra dose of nice-pills that day so you won't get frustrated with the treatment, give yourself an extra 20 minutes for the line, and BRING A PEN if you need to fill out forms because they never have one and good luck getting someone behind the counter to give you one, (and EXTRA luck if you go to the counter without your forms being filled out!) On a final note, the parking lot is spacious (much better than Dublin or Livermore!) but a bit horrendous to get out of during 4-5pm.. there's a traffic jam within the parking lot to turn onto Alcosta. Give yourself extra time for that as well. read more

A small post office, compared to those in SF. Usually there are three windows open, but it's still slow service here, like at all USPS locations. This office is not nearly as busy and not nearly as slow as the ones in the City, so I'm glad for that. Ample parking out front, convenient drive-thru drop-off mail boxes on the other side of the parking lot. Sometimes the last mailbox can get full, so if you can, drop off your mail into the first one. And open the slot after you put your mail in, to make sure it dropped down into the bottom. A typical government office, like CA's DMV. Both places act like their the only game in town and guess what, they are the only game in town! Us Commoners just have to deal with the slow process at the USPS and DMV offices whenever we go there. read more

I have been coming here since I was a baby (literally). 20 years later, the post office is still the same - long waits. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes. Worst I have waited was 30 mins. This post office is nothing spectacular. It is very understaffed. Even the self-service machines always have people using them. So, I fought my way through afternoon Hayward traffic (not for the faint of heart) to my payroll department earlier this week to get a copy of my W2, since the San Ramon post office did not deliver it weeks ago after it was mailed out. (I had already called my payroll department to verify the address they mailed it to. It was the correct address.) When I got there, my payroll person said, "...we have your original W2...", then went to a pile of undelivered W2's. I've lived at my current address for almost SEVEN years, yet, the post office had added a yellow sticker to the envelope of my W2 that said "Return to Sender - Attempted - Not known - Unable to Forward". Are you KIDDING me???? Every single character in my address was correct. I've lived at the same address for close to 7 years, yet I'm not known??????? Unbelievable. Congrats, San Ramon Post Office, you get the YOU SUCK award for crappy service!! UPDATE: 11-9-13 Well, they STILL suck!!!! I had been waiting for a priority delivery which contained materials that could be damaged. When I checked the delivery status, it showed the package had been delivered one hour prior to my checking the status. I checked my front porch...no package...which only meant one thing - the package had been crammed into my mailbox, which was CLEARLY too small for the package. When I checked my mailbox, I literally had to use the jaws of life to get the package out. The merchant had CLEARLY stamped on the package "Please DO NOT BEND". The only way to get the package into my mailbox was to bend it - a LOT!! What a sorry group of workers. They should pay the POST OFFICE for allowing them to work there! So, I just called the customer service # at the San Ramon post office to complain about the latest delivery. I made the call at 2:30pm. The outgoing message says their customer service department closes at 3:00pm on Saturdays - then goes on to tell me to please call back between regular business hours. Wow, night and day compared to the Dublin branch. Still slow but at least they had three elderly people working today rather than the standard two and those at the San Ramon branch were at least friendly. Giving it three stars because it still took almost 45 mins in line to mail 7 flat rate (supposed to be the easiest transaction they offer) and it could have gone a lot faster if one lady had told her customer to move off to the side while she filled out what seemed to be a college thesis length paper for an international package. I don't think any post office will ever get more than three stars based on how ridiculous their pricing is and how slow they can be. My neighbors moved out, but they still continue delivering their mail completely ignoring forwarding mail they asked for already a few times.
