I've been looking to get my passport renewed for sometime now. Usually the moment doesn't line up for me when it comes to appointment times. Fortunately, this time I had many options to pick and choose a time to get it done here at the Rodeo USPS. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. As well as a very quick and easy process. I walked in expecting a room full of people wanting a passport, and to my surprise I was the first in line. And it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. I spoke to the supervisor at the Parker Ave location regarding a delivery problem. She told me she would call me back regarding the delivery issue my package is locked in mail slot. Unpleasant encounter today at Cypress CT, and very rude. This happened around 3pm today. I just got home and god forbid that I put away my recycling bin and my neighbor' s before the mail man comes. My little nephew was excited waiting to collect the mail from him, but he bypassed him and said "PUT YOUR SHIT AWAY!" My nephew look at me in shock, and we were not the only ones with our bins out. Just recently sent something to my friend that lives in Hawaii. Went to the wrong address. CRAP ! Don't know what he post office over there did. But it came back butchered. I'll find the photos and update it to my review. Moral of the story Hawaii's post office tore it up delivered it to the wrong place and sent it back a month later. This post office here was very caring to what just happened and took my number down to update me on my package. Very helpful. He wasn't very nice the first few times but I guess I grew on him , LOL. I really hate coming to this post office! The staff (especially this one guy in the front) he has such bad attitude and chip on a his shoulder all the time. He thinks he's the KING in this post office or something. He sure acts like he's the MANAGER when no other staff is around. I came in to pick up my mail, usually I'd would knock on the small pick up window. As soon as I about to knock on the window, he screamed "hey, you gotta come in here." The I responded, uh, I usually pick up my mail here. He responded "when ain't no body here, you come in here." Okay! Mr. Making my own rules and demands, acting like you are the shot caller! I'll let him have it this time. Never failed. Of course, I came back to drop off some mails, right in the middle of the transaction, he told me to pull my card out when clearly the machine said "do not remove card". Again, with the self-Inflicted demands. What is wrong with him? Where is the manager when you need them or do they simply don't care anymore? This low rating customer service is really hurting the reputation of the entire team, unless everyone here is just like Mr. Making My Own Rules! ??? Review #008 - 2019 After driving to five different USPS locations all over the Bay Area to find one that actually provides walk in passport service, I decided to make this my last stop since my brother's house was nearby & I needed to pick up my nephew. There was no one in sight when I walked in so I wasn't sure if they'd even have a passport processing center, being that it's pretty small. I rang the bell and a nice lady walks over to assist me. She took me to the back to get my photos taken, and then helped me process my passport renewal form. It took less than five minutes for me to get out of the place. She recognized my last name & told me that my brother & his wife were actually just there the day before to get their passports expedited as well. I was pretty happy that I showed up when I did because three people rolled in after me asking to get their passport applications processed as well. This Post Office has to be the absolute worst EVER! Still waiting to hear from a supervisor 5 days later! My mail is missing and the "arrogant, condescending man" that sits on a stool behind the counter is absolutely no help! I've filed a official complaint via the website. Anything of relevance shouldn't be handled through this office UPDATE 9/20/19 I had to go back into this place and asked for a supervisor. She was absolutely no help either. The man named Julian at the counter is the rudest and most condescending person I have ever encountered. Who is the manager for this establishment? Julian makes all the customers feel stupid. I wouldn't come back for shipping off larger things because some employees just doesn't want to deal with it. I wanted to ship off 2 bumpers and got it weighed on the scale and everything ready to be shipped off by a very nice lady and was accommodating and saying that there was a guy who comes in and ships bumpers all the time. The next day Julian didn't want to deal with it as I told him it got weighed and measured the day before and he said "let me do my job". Obviously he didn't want to deal with the bumpers and told me he couldn't weigh them and the scale won't raise up (which the lady did the day before), and said it wouldn't even fit on the shipping truck. So I went to the post office in El Sobrante/ Pinole with no problems! I just don't get it. Made my day a little more inconvenient. I have been using this post office for decades. My PO Box is here & I often receive or ship boxes from here. I think that I know something about how it is run. I just read many poor reviews. History: When I first arrived in Rodeo, there was an old black man who was the postmaster. He did a pretty good job. Then there was a series of inept postmasters who ran it down for over 20 years. Mr MacDonald (I think that was his name) who later was on the Hercules City Council was one of the worst. Most recently Randy (sorry I don't remember his last name) changed everything. Service excelled. Deliveries were early or on time. I disagreed with a couple of policies but overall he did a stellar job. Computerization helped efficiency (which had nothing to do with him). . Randy has retired & whoever has replaced him apparently is carrying out Randy's policies as I think it is well run. I think everyone knows the entire USPS is having money problems. One of the problems is the Democrat run government will not allow them to increase fees to match costs. The idea of increasing postage by a penny (or recently decreasing postage 2 cents when the USPS needs the money) is stupid. They should use even round numbers. Postage should not be $.47 but a round $.50. The USPS (not just this branch) has a terrible policy for how they access rental rates for PO Boxes. Rents are cheaper in Hercules than Rodeo. Huh? I no longer need as large a box as I am paying for. However, if I change boxes, they will not forward my mail to the box next door for very long. I've learned that it takes up to 2 years to get all of my customers on board to my new mailing address. So I overpay for a box too large. PO Box customers in some branches can collect their mail 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Rodeo, due to the homeless has decided to lock the doors for over 50% of the week. I think that they could input a door that the box key will open for boxholders. At one time the parking lot could be entered from the side closest to the Safeway & exited from the side closest to the bay. This makes sense. For some reason that had something to do with Contra Costa bureaucrats they changed it to enter from the far side. The desk closes around 2:30-2:45 every day for 15-30 minutes because they only have one clerk & he needs to load a truck. Very inconvenient. Despite my many complaints, the primary job of the post office is to deliver mail early & safely. They do. This branch does it far better than ever before in the 30 (or so) years that I have been using it. They accomplish their primary job successfully. I've also found the clerks to be helpful & interested. 30 years ago most postal clerks in all of the offices I went to (El Cerrito, Richmond, Albany, San Pablo) knew little & were slow. I can think of only 2 exceptions. All of the postal clerks that I encounter today are well informed & fast or efficient. USPS delivers the mail much faster than ever before. We use UPS & the USPS. The USPS beats UPS in some cases. We print mailing labels with postage & just bypass the line in the post office & hand the boxes to the clerk even if he/she is helping someone else. read more

I rarely need to ship things out, but I have been to the Rodeo Post Office a few times but stopped going because of poor service. Today's experience led me to post on Yelp. Because I was already in Rodeo running an errand, I decided to stop by for a new book of stamps (that I rarely purchase anymore). One person was working the counter and handling someone opening up a new PO box. Fine, I understand that she was taking care of the first person in line. The problem I had was the manager who walked by, saw his employee handling more than a "stamps" customer, saw the 5 people in line, asked if anyone was just picking something up, and then walked back to his office after everyone said no. Buying stamps has to be way easier than picking up package.... If you are in the Hercules/Rodeo/Pinole area, I would suggest the Pinole Post Office which is way friendlier, well staffed, and very receptive to customers. Hercules Post Office can be pretty fast, but I've noticed some of the employees can be a bit snarky. I'm OK with snarky. =) read more

This post office supervisor is just awful. Their service is outrageous. Today they delivered damaged empty parcel to my friend. The enveloped was opened before, the package was taken out, after that they put scotch tape on the damaged envelopes, and delivered it to the customer. When my friend called them - the supervisor Jagdeep Singh was rude, was trying to lie to the customer, did not apologize a single time, and hang up the phone when talking to the customer. It is such a shame on that USPS office, such a shame on that supervisor. It does not like that person can take that position at all because nobody in that office wants to be responsible for anything. Totally LOST my package and has no idea where it is. This is the SECOND time this has happened. First time the postmaster told me it wasn't at there facility, I had to insist she go double check and wouldn't you know it was there out of place. Use this post office only if this is your last resort! You will be either greeted with postal works in sloppy T's and sweatpants, or if you are lucky, you might get the nicely dressed post master. I have never been lucky. I needed to send an envelope with enough postage for my friend to send a t-shirt to me. I brought in a sample t-shirt for him to weight and he kept saying that he needed to stamp the envelope. The guy in the grubby T (no name tag) behind the counter could not understand this. I will have to go to another post office and start all over again. Long story short, if you have the patience of a Saint and can endure slow and less then motivated workers, you'll be fine. If you have something to mail and be done accurately, this is not the place to go. read more

The mailman that delivers to Willow Glen Apartments in Hercules,CA should be fired. This mailman is incompetent and clearly lacks the ability to read a number on a mailbox. This post office is the worst post office I have experienced in my life. I have lived in Richmond,CA and in FL, and what I have seen in the last 5 months here in Hercules from this post office can only be called incompetence and unprofessional. Never have I had so many packages get lost and show as delivered before. Is this guy scanning his packages and just shoving them in boxes without checking the actual mailbox number? How do you constantly deliver mail to the wrong mailbox? Thankfully my neighbor was kind enough in the most recent incident to give me my package that was put in her mailbox, but that's unprofessional to not check your work. This is the 3rd time that a package has been put in the wrong box at my apartment complex, and I've only lived here 5 months. That's unprofessional and shows that the mail man is rushing his work without trying to properly deliver mail. Ppl depend on this service to be accurate, as many communications are very important and time sensitive. Haven't these employees been trained? If your employees lack focus and the quality of paying attention to their work, how can they deliver mail? That is unacceptable to put my mail in another tenant's mailbox. I've had 2 packages get lost and show as delivered on the tracking app, but they were not "delivered" to my mailbox. Would have been 3 if my neighbor was a dishonest person. Had a package that FedEx returned to this post office because the place of business I ordered a Christmas gift from had the wrong address. I went here to see if they still had it and the manager was awesome. He looked for it and found it before FedEx picked it up to return it back to the store! The staff was great. Never would I wish a more horrible punishment to send someone to this post office. I got notice that I missed my package so I went to the Hercules post office as directed. After spending 10 minutes in line and another 15 waiting for the lady, They told me I had told me to go to the Rodeo one. So I spend another 10 minutes driving and another 15 minutes in line. Once I get there, I explain my situation to the Julian and he disappears for 10 minutes then tells me my package isn't there... Then comes back makes me sign my name and number and then disappears for 15 minutes and I found out he went out for lunch I'm thinking what the ?!?? . The another lady finally tells me the supervisor (Abel) will follow-up and to wait outside near the wooden door and of course another 10-15 minutes goes by. Normally I'm pretty good at waiting, but today I had my dog in the car and mind you this whole ordeal has taken 1.5 hours of my life and counting.. And worse part is my package is still missing and I never even met the supervisor. I left after 20 minutes. Rodeo post office consistently delivers mail to the incorrect address. Tonight, a neighborhood lady was walking around delivering mail that was not hers but came to her address. It was first class mail. I receive mail for the street behind me and I have missed paying bills because my mail was delivered to the wrong address. At least 3 times I have talked to the acting postmaster and he does not seem to be concerned. Last week, I took mis-delivered mail to the post office and asked to talk with him, he never came to the window and never returned a call. I have no faith the USPS can deliver my mail to me and if I have any letters of importance, I try to use UPS or FedEx. read more

Awful service this time. I went in to renew my passport. There was no bell to ring in an unattended front desk, other than a sign to say hello if needs help. A man with no visible ID nor uniform and very rudely informed me that "they don't do passport". upon telling him about the sign on the door, he became defensive and said "I don't do passport and she isn't here". My regular carrier is great.But yesterday,she's on vacation and replacement carrier who delivered my package to wrong house.Good thing I was home and I followed him and politely showed him and told tracking number that it showed item was delivered few minutes ago and I did not see the package.This guy act like he did not understand what I was talking about and I had to repeat that like 3 times and his response was may be someone from my house got it.I said it was 3 minutes ago and my already asked my wife and she did not get anything.He then probably realized he delivered to the wrong house and told me he will come back and check,came back and knock on my neighbor's house and got my package.He also said address was printed so small that's why he delivered to wrong house.He finally say sorry.Actually address was printed clearly. When my family first moved into our new house all of our mail was held by this post office. We had to come here everyday to pick up our mail. They always had it ready for us and we got in and out in less than 5 minutes so good job guys, hope they don't close you down as part of the big downsizing. read more

Her excuse was that the lady doing the passports was the only one and already worked a 10 hr shift- understandable, but if they had planned to not accommodate a certain amount of people, then they shouldn't have waited till 1 hr till closing. If I could leave less than one star I would. Most of the Staff are rude and very unfriendly to customers who bring in packages with a prepaid shipping label. However the Post Master is the rudest and does not have the ability to be helpful, understanding or cordial to any of his customers. Even though there is information stating on the USPS website that ALL Packages need to be scanned at the counter ......... the Staff, which are backed up by the Post Master, REFUSE to scan my packages at the counter. The Postal Employees (staff) even want to charge me more to have my packages scan. The cost varies between $1.35 and $1.50. The Post Master and Staff do not have the ability to understand that until a package is scanned into the USPS System, the package HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED. When I have purchased Postage online to get a Prepaid Shipping Label (Click and Ship or eBay), I receive a Shipping Label with a Tracking Number....... BUT the Package has not been received physically into the USPS System. Why can't the Rodeo Post Office get that simply concept. This is not the first time that I have been tracking a package and the Post Office has it listed as processing. Since the timeframe fell over the 4th of July I gave them the benefit of the doubt for any backlog but after 6 business days, I checked the sender and the package was returned. There was no notification no attempted delivery to indicate there was a problem. I called the sender and was informed that the return label was used meaning that the Post Office had to open the package to return the product which had my address on it. There was no indication that the package was damaged since the Post Office has to provide that to the senders with the tracking information. My guess is that the package was delivered to the wrong address and returned to the Post Office and they returned it instead of redelivering it or for whatever reason they decided it was too much of a hassle and returned it. This is just one of many issues lately especially when the UPS packages are given to the Post Office to deliver, not only does it take another 2 to 3 days but can go back and forth between San Pablo and Oakland and back to Rodeo again. Most of the time the packages are shoved into the mailbox, which at times can cause damage. Unfortunately there is not much of an option when receiving mail or package but maybe someone will finally take a look at all the complaints and at least address the issue here. read more
