Our company started using courier service for certified mail starting in October 2021. Modern Express has been better than other courier services we've used in the past. Arranged for a pick up of custom furniture in chico at 0800 to SF by 3pm. Was told that was when the crew would arrive by Modern Express scheduler. ,I told the custom builder to expect them around 0800. Provided delivery drivers phone number. Received this message from "10:35, no pickup yet, supposed to be somewhere at 11. Called them, only getting head scratching, not very happy" Called company to hear "oh yea sorry we are running late". I found out I needed to schedule an urgent messenger in Palo Alto the next morning at around 8 PM the night before in Los Angeles. After looking through Yelp, I noticed most of the companies that had great reviews were not open during the weekends. I'm not sure if delivering Container Store shipments is new for them, but when I'm given a 4-hour delivery window from 12pm-4pm, I expect delivery within that window. They called at around 3:50pm to say that they are delivering my order but will be late -- possibly 4:15pm, if not then by 4:30pm. At 4:45pm, I called for an update was told it would be another 30 minutes. They finally showed up around 5:20pm - almost an hour and half after the delivery window time. The reason for two stars instead of one is because the woman on the phone was friendly and kept following up to see where the driver was to make sure that the delivery would be done. read more

Modern Express saved my bacon! I had sent an important package via UPS for Saturday delivery and they failed. It wasn't going to be delivered until Monday--which was too late! I called Modern Express on a Saturday night (10pm) and they set up a pick up for Sunday morning and delivered the package to my client before 10:30am. The courier was very personable- even texted me when it was delivered and the name of the person it was left with. Mo called me with updates and was so nice and easy to work with. The person took all of the info about the delivery and said someone would call as soon as they got to the office. Sure enough I got a call at 5:30am and they were there for pick up by 6am.
