Too bad I can't give a rating lower than 1 star, because they definitely do not deserve any. I have had multiple packages get stuck in Richmond, CA, which is like a blackhole for packages; They always just seem to disappear until a month or two later when they finally reach your doorstep. My packages are going overseas so I heard that the reason it takes so long for Richmond to ship is because they wait for enough mail to ship through boat, but that is not the case. I had two packages at Richmond at the same time, I received one package after almost 6 weeks in sorting, then the other package 3 weeks after the first. I have never been to this post office physically, but after reading so many reviews about rude and slow employees, I would love to stop here to give these people a piece of my mind. read more

Being in the armed forces you'd expect some kind of loyalty between another agency of the government, however that isn't the case. I've read about how the actual shipping process works so let's break it down for everyone. First, your package arrives and is scanned like the rest, but if your package is to be shipped by air to more secluded locations, they are scanned for DEPARTURE (but do not actually leave the facility) and placed in a crate awaiting other packages to join so they may leave in a more cost effective manner. Secondly, the package will show up on the tracker as "departed from the facility" which is a flat out lie. Your orders are waiting for others to be shipped out. Yes it's smart since they're on their third year decline of government funding, but to just screw over customers who are FORCED to use USPS is preposterous. There are thousands of military personnel abroad and I highly doubt the crater three packages have been sitting in for four weeks hasn't filled up, especially when I receive a beaten up USPS package from my girlfriend AFTER the three prior packages have been sent. In short, they really don't care about their quality of work because at the end of the day they aren't a business, just another arm of the government being deprived of funding. I'm going to try and call today to explain to them that it's not my packages I'm angry about, it's their shipping process. But considering I have thousands invested in those packages, if I don't receive them I will be filing a report against the agency. I'm focused on doing my job not them doing theirs. read more

why do I get other folks mail & I haven't gotten my N.Yer for 2 issues? I called the 1.800 # & a case was opened. I got a call back from someone at USPS about the first weeks issue that didn't arrive - so what. Then last weeks issue didn't arrive - I called the i.800 #. It was difficult to explain that I wasn't talking about the previous weeks issue not arriving & case # they had given me. Now that I'm onto the third week of a N.Yer being issued....well, I'm in a Twilight Zone episode. Will I get it???? I do call the N.Yer & they do send me out a replacement magazine - that takes 2 - 3 weeks to get to me. I haven't yet gotten week 1 replacement. Irritating? Hard to keep up with? I'm sorting more mail for my carrier then my carrier seems to be sorting mail correctly. Something is clearly wrong at the P.O. & it's not that they're running out of $'s. read more

I've been to about five post office is trying to get my passport and everybody has been mean and unhelpful directing me to other post offices which end up being more dead ends. FINALLY I WAS DIRECTED TO 1025 Nevin ave in Richmond. The passport lady there was the absolute best ever. She was able to help me and got me all set up. I think everyone at the the other post offices could really learn from her kind yet get-er- done approach. read more

Called literally 19 times to make an appointment but no answer but once I was finally answered, they hung up before saying anything. No stars if possible I really am disappointed in this place. Never! Never! Never again will I send my niece any packages to California from Albuquerque, NM unless it is thru UPS or FED EX. My package has been sitting at the Richmond USPS four 4 weeks now and consumer affairs is a JOKE. What's weird is I sent 3 packages and 2 made it and the third on is stuck. Short lines and friendly staff (well, there are a couple sour pusses but they aren't a major deterrent) keep me coming. That and it's right across the street from work! This location is physically small with a small selection of mailing supplies for sale. It could use some major cleaning. The place has an grimy feel to it. But then again, it is in the heart of the Iron Triangle - this could explain the short lines. A huge plus is that they have a passport office here. I have used this service twice and have been helped by a super friendly and helpful Filipina. Around the holidays, this is a nice place to go to avoid the horrendous lines at other post offices. Don't know if Richmond, CA is the only distribution site to Hawaii, but I've only experienced delayed goods coming out of Richmonds Sorting Facilities. Always the case of my shipments getting stuck there for 2 weeds then gets sorted out to Hawaii. SAD that we pay top dollars for USPS Fed workers pay and benefits. read more

I've been waiting for a book that I ordered from amazon for over a month. It's been stuck in Richmond, CA since Sept 1st. I ordered another book from amazon on the same day and it also went thru Richmond, but I got it on Sept 16. So where's this other book? I filed a claim with USPS and was contacted by my local postmaster. He told me stuff going out of Richmond, CA goes by boat and could take up to 3 to 6 weeks. So I should just wait and see. I use to want to save this location now, I could careless if they close this location it would be for the better, all my mail doesn't make it in my box and I get others mail in my box next time I will be sure to take a picture and and post it, if you don't keep track of when your P.O Box is due you will get a $22 late fee because you won't get the envelope in the box, I honestly think the mail is being thrown away, and those who want to retire can't leave just yet so they kind of half azz do their job, I also think mail is being stolen but nobody follow ups to see what is going on. If in a rush don't go here because the line will be to long with only one person to help if you think your going to get something resolved think again, they don't care nor do want to care about our mail or anyone else mail for that matter, I've had my P.O. Box for over 10 years now I can't rely on getting all my mail in it, nor canI rely on getting the notice on when it is due, didn't get the envelope nor did I get a courtesy 2nd notice, only a piece of paper in my box after the due date! Way to make money U.S.P.S nothing like printing out a piece of paper and putting it in the consumers box after it is due! Now the post office can hustle us. For those whose package seems to be stuck in limbo in Richmond: Try contacting usps consumer affairs at 510-874-8737. Give them the tracking number. If no case number is assigned to it yet, they can provide one. I mailed a pkg. from Ohio to S. Lake Tahoe last month, and I'm hoping this step will finally get results - the helpful person I spoke with is working on more details (apparently photos are taken of these packages, btw) and told me she will contact me tomorrow afternoon. Trying not to be skeptical - at least I have the phone number to call back and a case number. She did mention that packages are supposed to be held for 15 days before being returned to sender, but mine has left the facility the next day and is in transit to who-knows-where. read more

I ordered a book from Amazon on October 27th, 2015, and Amazon stated that it would be here by November 5th, 2015. It's still not here and it's stuck at this post office. This isn't the first time that I had trouble with this post office, either. After the 3rd package had to come through here, I noticed that it took a ridiculous amount of time to reach me, and that's bullshit. I read something on a website that the reason shipments take so long is because they put all the packages in large containers and they can't send things out little at a time, so they wait until all the containers are full before they actually do send it out. That's stupid and wrong. Some people PAY for faster shipping and they are basically robbed of their money if it stops at this facility. All the other places don't seem to have any trouble sending packages to their next location, so the fault lies with these people. This place needs to be shut down. read more

Maybe the problem is with some employees of UPS, They seem to send packages to a post office in Richmond for delivery, that do not belong there. My thought is that UPS needs to straighten up and deliver packages to the correct post offices. Just like so many here, I noticed a pattern when my packages were late in arriving. The common denominator? The Richmond sorting facility. Living in Hawaii one tends to shop online a great deal as many things are not available locally, or are overpriced if they are. Our local branch of the USPS is great, very responsive and well organized, as is most of the USPS across the country from what I've experienced. Richmond is the glaring exception. Currently I'm waiting on a package from ebay. It managed to make from Connecticut to Richmond in a couple of days, and there it has sat, for the last 8 days. Almost without exception, anything that I'm expecting is delayed, sometimes for weeks, once it hits this "facility". Richmond has earned its reputation as the "Black Hole of the Pacific Coast" through poor service and an attitude that can best be described as "F**k You, you'll get it when we feel like it". It must be their motto. I've even spoken to them { they answered their phone, amazingly } I had called my local post office about a package I'd sent and received a call back, from our local Postmaster, directing me to them. Their response? Literally "Tough sh*t, we can't help you, we're too busy". This was years ago, so this isn't just a recent phenomena. This "team" needs to be broken up and spread through the rest of the system, if they can't be fired, to limit the damage they do. Management should be demoted, or fired, for being utterly ineffective. read more

Every other time I order something it takes MONTHS to get to me and when I track it, what do you know? It's been sitting in Richmond being processed and re-processed over and over again!!! I am so fed up with this! I'll order two things from amazon at the same time. One shipment will make it within two weeks and the other one won't make it for 5 months because it is stuck in Richmond!!!!!!!!!!! Arghh! I just spoke on the phone with a woman named Keisha who was VERY rude and acted like I was bothering her. I asked if there was any way she could give me an estimate of my delivery time she just said, "no" very pointedly. Well, this is disheartening. First, USPS made a mistake by routing my package to CA from CO (I live in PA, which is where it was supposed to get shipped). And then, it ended up in this "sort facility from hell?" Info says the package departed on December 6th, but then there is just ....nothing. I was on hold with USPS for two hours last night to try to get some help. The rep who finally picked up the phone responded to my polite inquiry with "Check your local post office. It might be there." ?? That was it. Checked with the my local post office --of course it wasn't there. But they said I could file a claim with the package description. MEh. It was shipped on Jan. 25 from Nevada. it arrived at the Richmond facility on Jan. 27 and on Jan. 30, according to the tracking info it is still sitting there with no date or time given for delivery.
