I ordered some items and while tracking them saw that the post office had given them a delivered status. I waited all day for those items that never arrived and yet that same day they had them marked as delivered. They never arrived. The post office wants you to prove you didn't get them when they should be proving that those lying workers delivered them. Missing 3 items now. Who's ripping who off?? Being in the armed forces you'd expect some kind of loyalty between another agency of the government, however that isn't the case. I've read about how the actual shipping process works so let's break it down for everyone. First, your package arrives and is scanned like the rest, but if your package is to be shipped by air to more secluded locations, they are scanned for DEPARTURE (but do not actually leave the facility) and placed in a crate awaiting other packages to join so they may leave in a more cost effective manner. Secondly, the package will show up on the tracker as "departed from the facility" which is a flat out lie. Your orders are waiting for others to be shipped out. Yes it's smart since they're on their third year decline of government funding, but to just screw over customers who are FORCED to use USPS is preposterous. There are thousands of military personnel abroad and I highly doubt the crater three packages have been sitting in for four weeks hasn't filled up, especially when I receive a beaten up USPS package from my girlfriend AFTER the three prior packages have been sent. In short, they really don't care about their quality of work because at the end of the day they aren't a business, just another arm of the government being deprived of funding. I'm going to try and call today to explain to them that it's not my packages I'm angry about, it's their shipping process. But considering I have thousands invested in those packages, if I don't receive them I will be filing a report against the agency. I'm focused on doing my job not them doing theirs. read more

why do I get other folks mail & I haven't gotten my N.Yer for 2 issues? I called the 1.800 # & a case was opened. I got a call back from someone at USPS about the first weeks issue that didn't arrive - so what. Then last weeks issue didn't arrive - I called the i.800 #. It was difficult to explain that I wasn't talking about the previous weeks issue not arriving & case # they had given me. Now that I'm onto the third week of a N.Yer being issued....well, I'm in a Twilight Zone episode. Will I get it???? I do call the N.Yer & they do send me out a replacement magazine - that takes 2 - 3 weeks to get to me. I haven't yet gotten week 1 replacement. Irritating? Hard to keep up with? Never! Never! Never again will I send my niece any packages to California from Albuquerque, NM unless it is thru UPS or FED EX. My package has been sitting at the Richmond USPS four 4 weeks now and consumer affairs is a JOKE. What's weird is I sent 3 packages and 2 made it and the third on is stuck. Short lines and friendly staff (well, there are a couple sour pusses but they aren't a major deterrent) keep me coming. That and it's right across the street from work! This location is physically small with a small selection of mailing supplies for sale. It could use some major cleaning. The place has an grimy feel to it. But then again, it is in the heart of the Iron Triangle - this could explain the short lines. A huge plus is that they have a passport office here. I have used this service twice and have been helped by a super friendly and helpful Filipina. Around the holidays, this is a nice place to go to avoid the horrendous lines at other post offices. I use to want to save this location now, I could careless if they close this location it would be for the better, all my mail doesn't make it in my box and I get others mail in my box next time I will be sure to take a picture and and post it, if you don't keep track of when your P.O Box is due you will get a $22 late fee because you won't get the envelope in the box, I honestly think the mail is being thrown away, and those who want to retire can't leave just yet so they kind of half azz do their job, I also think mail is being stolen but nobody follow ups to see what is going on. Just like so many here, I noticed a pattern when my packages were late in arriving. The common denominator? The Richmond sorting facility. Living in Hawaii one tends to shop online a great deal as many things are not available locally, or are overpriced if they are. Our local branch of the USPS is great, very responsive and well organized, as is most of the USPS across the country from what I've experienced. Richmond is the glaring exception. Currently I'm waiting on a package from ebay. It managed to make from Connecticut to Richmond in a couple of days, and there it has sat, for the last 8 days. Almost without exception, anything that I'm expecting is delayed, sometimes for weeks, once it hits this "facility". Richmond has earned its reputation as the "Black Hole of the Pacific Coast" through poor service and an attitude that can best be described as "F**k You, you'll get it when we feel like it". It must be their motto. I've even spoken to them { they answered their phone, amazingly } I had called my local post office about a package I'd sent and received a call back, from our local Postmaster, directing me to them. Their response? Literally "Tough sh*t, we can't help you, we're too busy". This was years ago, so this isn't just a recent phenomena. This "team" needs to be broken up and spread through the rest of the system, if they can't be fired, to limit the damage they do. Management should be demoted, or fired, for being utterly ineffective. read more

I've been waiting for a book that I ordered from amazon for over a month. It's been stuck in Richmond, CA since Sept 1st. I ordered another book from amazon on the same day and it also went thru Richmond, but I got it on Sept 16. So where's this other book? I filed a claim with USPS and was contacted by my local postmaster. He told me stuff going out of Richmond, CA goes by boat and could take up to 3 to 6 weeks. So I should just wait and see. Maybe the problem is with some employees of UPS, They seem to send packages to a post office in Richmond for delivery, that do not belong there. My thought is that UPS needs to straighten up and deliver packages to the correct post offices. For those whose package seems to be stuck in limbo in Richmond: Try contacting usps consumer affairs at 510-874-8737. Give them the tracking number. If no case number is assigned to it yet, they can provide one. I mailed a pkg. from Ohio to S. Lake Tahoe last month, and I'm hoping this step will finally get results - the helpful person I spoke with is working on more details (apparently photos are taken of these packages, btw) and told me she will contact me tomorrow afternoon. Trying not to be skeptical - at least I have the phone number to call back and a case number. She did mention that packages are supposed to be held for 15 days before being returned to sender, but mine has left the facility the next day and is in transit to who-knows-where. read more

I ordered a book from Amazon on October 27th, 2015, and Amazon stated that it would be here by November 5th, 2015. It's still not here and it's stuck at this post office. This isn't the first time that I had trouble with this post office, either. After the 3rd package had to come through here, I noticed that it took a ridiculous amount of time to reach me, and that's bullshit. I read something on a website that the reason shipments take so long is because they put all the packages in large containers and they can't send things out little at a time, so they wait until all the containers are full before they actually do send it out. That's stupid and wrong. Some people PAY for faster shipping and they are basically robbed of their money if it stops at this facility. All the other places don't seem to have any trouble sending packages to their next location, so the fault lies with these people. This place needs to be shut down. read more

There should be a meme for the sheer feeling of horror we experience upon checking our tracking info and realizing it's been routed to this facility. Automatically, you prepare for two things: waiting for months to get your package (when it was supposed to take 2 days), or the possibility of not getting it at all. My boyfriend has to deal with this notorious "black hole" all the time, and warned me about it before I had the unfortunate experiences myself.
