Better not be here for no other reason!

This PO is small but full service. Parking lot is very tight. One drive way serving both enter and exit. It can get cramped very quickly. Drop boxes out on the sidewalk of 23rd are a nice convenience. Inside there is counter service, but usually one person working the counter from what I've seen. Still, if you come early enough, you should be able to get in and out and on your way.

Post offices are dreaded for a reason and this location is a reason why. There is never more than three employees working the front desk and one of them doesn't do any transactions. What does she do? I don't know. They have instated a new policy of not taking any pre-stamped mail at the front desk. I really don't know what this BBW does. Regardless, the other two regulars are very friendly and do their best to cater to people, especially non-English speakers. The actual post office is pretty outdated and quite ugly in my opinion. It's always busy at noon, during peoples lunch hour and during the last half hour of business (5PM). If you come mid-day, you should be in and out in 5-10 minutes. I would really like the interior to be upgraded and at least one more regular employee. They carry the usual items you'll see at other locations: boxes, tape, envelopes, etc. Not a bad place, but don't be a regular.

My package from Target has been sitting in your post office for two weeks. Could one of your three employees please send it on to Hawaii?

But they are our main post office so here is the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good is that they held our mail for about two years because our HOA management company sucked. They did this again after the below-mentioned unhonored vacation hold and they held our mail. I got to know the woman working there and although she knew my name, she insisted on seeing my ID which I really appreciated. Too many shady folks running around and I totally understood. The bad is that they got tired of holding the mail and delivered it one day without notice. They know that we have a history of theft and don't consistently deliver packages to our units as we've requested and they've promised. They have left some big packages in the lobby and thieves walking by, are very much tempted. They also left a medical package for me in front of my unit, although I've asked them to deliver it to a neighbor who is always at home. The ugly is that they didn't honor one of my vacation holds and my mail was stolen. And it was a hold that I put in early. They also deliver mail to broken mailboxes. I have the USPS service where they tell me what mail is coming, however, I don't always receive it. My box is empty for days. When I finally called someone, they said that sometimes the package will arrive days after it's supposed to. Really?!? I've had so many issues, that I had their direct number which they answered the first time I called. After that the phone rings and rings and rings, which means that I have to go up and talk to the manager. I didn't get mail for almost a month in my box, no burglaries (nothing on the camera) and when I went there, they told me that even when I get a notification from them that I have mail coming that it still may not be delivered for a week. So what's up with the daily notifications when it doesn't mean anything? Something is up with them. Another issue is that they are responsible for delivering our mail. We have a post office that is closer to us and they have more hours in which they are open, however, they provide a place to send mail, buy stamps, and have a neighborhood post office. They are closer to my home and would be a better choice.

Packages dropped off were not scanned. Unable to track package sent. No help from grumpy lady…read morebehind the counter. You can tell she hates her job. She will not greet you or try to help you.

Stopped by the Pinole Post Office on Friday around 1 PM to send some mail to my aunt. This is the…read moreonly post office in the city, so I expected a bit of a wait. There were only two women working the counter, and the wait ended up being about 5 minutes. Given the circumstances, things moved along reasonably well. The woman who helped me was actually very nice and helpful, which made the experience easy. Customer service was good, and I appreciated her patience. That said, this location could definitely use more staff, especially considering the time of year and how busy it can get. Overall, it was a good experience. I'd recommend this post office and would return.

1/23/25 - I'm in this post office this morning at 9:00. There's no one in line…read more There's one person behind the counter. She's on the phone. Apparently it's a personal call because she's calling the person by their name and she's looking at some document and they're going over something. There's no one else there and I stand there while she continues on with her personal call. Why is there one person and she's on the phone? Can anyone tell me why this is acceptable? I stand there like a moron and after a couple minutes, someone else finally comes in the register next to her and calls me over. Then she starts helping the other person the phone. So I'm standing there while BOTH people are helping the person on the phone I go back in line as I realize standing there was a waste of time. Maybe a third person will come out and actually do their job? Is this possible? Why did this second call me over and then start helping the other lady. Was it to be a jerk on purpose? Can anyone at the post office explain it to me? So now, the moron that I am, am standing there in line, still the only person, as the two people behind the counter are talking to someone on the phone. After a couple more minutes the first lady finally calls me over and starts to assist me. She's giving me nothing but attitude because she can see I'm not happy. How dare I not be happy standing there in a line while she and the other person on the phone talk to their friend. Stupid me. She's curt and clearly wants to be done with this transaction - just hands me my receipt - it's the first time I can ever remember the person behind teh counter did not circle the part on the receipt and tell me to take the survey about her service. And this is the first time will do the survey. I want to make sure the USPS is aware of the ridiculously awful "service" the Pinole Post office offers. 2 people behind the counter, both helping someone the phone. 1 actually calls me over and then helps the person on the phone. Why did she call me over? Why am I getting attitude because I have the audacity to not be happy that two people are yapping on the phone instead of helping customers like their job description says? I realize management at this office will read this and laugh. They don't care. This is today's post office. This is not your parents USPS that would hire people with the correct skills to do the job. Places like this hire anyone who wants a job. "Customer service" is not in their vocabulary. And with the new White House talking about doing away with the USPS and making it a private company. Honestly, would this be a bad thing at this point? When you see post offices like this one that couldn't care less about actually doing their job and give customer's attitude when they don't think customer is happy with their "service" - would it be bad for these people to be out of a job? They certainly do NOT belong in any kind of "customer service" position. But I will get the word out. This is not the first time I've received absolutely awful "service" at this post office.
