No sense of urgency whatsoever. Zero working activity evident in back room. But other Postal workers visible. Apparently enjoying their paid non working Saturday. How do I get this job? Not the best visit to this post office. I showed up at the end of lunch time on a weekday and there were only two employees helping customers at the main desk. The good news was the line was short when I entered, though it was pretty long when I left (not very long after). I had come in to check on an important package the post office seemed to have totally lost, and the lady I talked to said she could see what I was seeing online, just with a little more detail. Unfortunately, she also stressed there was absolutely nothing she could do to help me with my parcel, which hasn't even left the state and it's been several days. I paid $58 for priority express and no one has any clue where my package even is right now. I know it's not her fault, and she did keep her tone even and professional, but she also said I was wasting both of our time the longer I talked to her, since she couldn't help me at all. I an now wondering why she didn't offer to help me file a claim for the missing mail... well, in any case, I'll try to avoid going back to this post office if I can help it. read more

if I could give 0 stars I would. There are 4 computer stations and only 1 person with absolutely no desire to make any part of being here a pleasant one. There were 12 people in line and every once in a while the clerk would blurt out some random instruction like, "there is a machine that reads QR codes at the entrance". No one asked her and she would say something else before she took the next person in line. You were not given an answer if you yelled back a question. It took 20 min to ship 1 box. In a day and age where a little goes a long way, you can tell she did not enjoy her job or do anything to keep it. read more

Went to pick up a package which was held for pickup on Friday Oct 17th- 10am and they were locked up and closed. Not a holiday, no reason given, their site and the damn sign on the door said hours 8:30am-4pm. You could hear workers as well behind the door talking, so unprofessional and there were at least 10 other people who came and had to leave. Why post hours if you're not going to follow them and instead waste people's time. read more

June 2nd mail-person didn't put the key in my mailbox to open the bigger mailbox I live 55+ community. emailed a complaint, USPS emailed me back saying packages were delivered IN or OUTSIDE the mailbox...I explained with another email, the key missing and there was no way Mail-person could put 4 packages in my little mailbox ‍ No reply... Awful. Driving up to the exterior mailboxes today, I found the first one stuffed to capacity--it would have been impossible (and insecure) to try depositing a letter therein. I drove up a few feet to the next box--it was stuffed so full that letters were sticking out of the slot (see the attached photo). Do the employees not periodically empty these boxes? I parked, hoping that I could send the letter using an inside mailbox. No dice, as there is no inside mailbox. One would have to get in line and hand it to the people at the desk. But to do so means waiting in a winding line about 25 people deep. Typical government organization. Avoid this place like the black death. read more

I can't get through to an actual person to speak to so am writing this here. I went to mail a package last Friday 12/22 from Arizona to Pennsylvania. It was a younger man working. I told him I've never mailed a package before & asked how to address it. He told me to write directly on the box. It says in big large letters "TO: Name, Addess, Zip Code & FROM: my name, Address. Zip Code." I go out of town that day & come back today 12/29, a week later to find the package on my door step. I was mailing an already late Christmas present & now it's even later. I laughed about it & was polite when taking the package back to the post office, assuming they would be helpful in resolving the problem. I was obviously charged the wrong amount last Friday so they had me pay more money. I asked since the postal man made the mistake, if there was anything they could do & no.. insisted on me paying the remainder.. it's Friday now & it won't get there until Wednesday 1/4. When if it was mailed correctly last week, it would be in PA by now. I feel like they could have at least offered express shipping or ANYTHING. No one took accountability & I walked out in tears feeling embarrassed. read more

What a disaster. The drive up deposit for mail cannot be reached by your car window. You have to get out of the car to deposit the mail.

I'm in the building. They watch me grab the package slips out of my box. Worker goes to stand at the door to the package pick up and shuts the door in front of my face and locks it as I'm running up and the clock turns 430 to the second. I work in medical care where you do what it takes to help people regardless. Have all your mail forwarded to Biltmore Mailboxes on 32nd st and Camelback. This has hands down the most disrespectful staff I have ever experienced. They have "lost" hundreds of dollars in packages for us. I have seen the staff literally scream insults at people multiple times. I defended one staff member from a disrespectful customer just to be on the receiving end of a clerk's temper tantrum the next time I went in. There was one man there who was a gem and I haven't seen him in months but everyone else here is so blatantly unpleasant and rude to you for absolutely no reason. Their attitudes give me anxiety anytime I am forced to go there because they will go out of their way to make you feel awful by the time you leave. Not one other job or entity would let their staff treat people this way I will never understand how they're able to continue mistreating people on a daily basis. read more

This is one of the better USPS facilities. After several failed attempts, I vowed not to send packages to people from USPS. They are horrible, no matter what location you used to drop off your packages that cannot be sent using priority shipping...they are horrible at getting the package there on time and intact. However, I will send letters, priority mail, purchase stamps (yes, I need a stamp now and again), etc. This location have friendly staff. The lines move fairly quickly. I feel for the workers AND the public here. Most of the public doesn't have the experience or knowledge needed of the systems and processes to accomplish what they need to do. Even the simplest tasks. And it has got to be frustrating for the postal workers to constantly feel like they need to educate the customers, holding their hands to guide them to the finish line. The inexperienced customers and time taken by the workers to educate on the fly create delays and long lines. It's a classic catch-22 that I don't think will ever be solved. This post office is often busy and parking can be a challenge. Otherwise, it is kept tidy and is fairly typical for a post office. They have one self-serve kiosk at the entrance which I use so I don't have to wait in lines. These kiosks are easy to use, but intimidating if you haven't used one before. If they had more than one kiosk I think people would be more tempted to try them. That might help with long lines because I think most of what people are in line for can be accomplished at the kiosk. read more

It seems like this location struggles to meet the demands of the growing community. I've had three packages go missing in less than 6 months. One package was never found, the next took over 7 days to begin tracking and same story for the third which has still not begun tracking and I dropped it off a week ago. I know the holidays have been challenging for shipping items but I've used other USPS locations in the Valley and have had zero problems. Wanna know why the US Postal Service is struggling to keep their nose above water and on the brink of insolvency? Not adjusting their business plan upon the arrival of the Internet and Email Age, and...customers. You must keep them and their changing needs at the front of everything you do. One day this week, I stood in line at this US Post Office for about 15 minutes, only to find out that my stuff (packed in my own box) didn't qualify for any of their Priority Mail flat rates...it would make the Large rate ONLY if I crammed it into their own awkwardly-sized, long, flat Priority Mail box. This meant I needed to: 1. rip open my own taped-up box (with what??), 2. unpack everything in it (in front of all these people waiting in line??), and 3. re-pack it in the USPS "large" Priority Mail long, very flat box (what if some of my items weren't that flat??). Exasperated after considering this option, I returned their "Priority Mail" tape to the counter, hopped in the car, and Yelped for the nearest UPS store. UPS gave me several shipping options, and I chose the one which got my box to its destination for $2 cheaper than the USPS, and also INCLUDED a tracking number. In and out in less than five minutes. US Postal Service -- time to get out of the Stone Age. Customers rule now, and the world revolves around our needs and wants. We young whippersnappers will absolutely whip out our iPhones, find your competitor, and give our business to them...all while standing in your store. read more

Fran was so efficient and helpful. She was the only one working at the counter this morning, and she stayed cheerful, making sure everyone got what they needed. I don't need to go into a post office often, and it was my first time here. I was shocked at the state of this location - all lights turned off in the public areas (I kept thinking I had my sunglasses on indoors), barely any supplies available, and everything looked filthy. I guess times really are hard. I would give less than four stars, but Fran and her colleagues were working very hard in what looked like tough conditions. read more

Horribly rude employees. Publicly embarrassed this poor woman for a mistake they made. Passive aggressive and unprofessional.

The counter clerks at every window I observed and heard to be Courteous, Patient and Helpful. For the volumes of postal patrons that funnel through that station, the clerks were all - to a person, each and every one - extraordinarily patient, even with occasional disappointed patrons from whatever cause; and further I noticed that they would greet each patron anew, ready to help however they could, from offering optional different classes of mailings at different rates, to answering even the most obtuse of questions. Their countenance the product of both themselves individually, and good management - good management filters down, can be discernable if lacking, and this station with this staff is the happy product of good people in their service to the public. Avoid this location at all cost. There is one lady that's always here and she's SO rude. I brought in a package & asked them to tape a label and they said they were out and haven't had any tape since December. I found that strange but maybe there is a tape shortage I am unaware of.. they then went on to say that I couldn't mail the package with the tape I had it closed up with??... so I guess I'll be running across to UPS to request tape and then come back over... I only am sending USPS because the package requires it. Save your time, mood, & frustation and go across the street to UPS. read more

The staff is so rude and they will literally ignore you. I only needed a passport application paper and the staff were being rude about it, making me go all the way back in the line after I asked for ONE PAPER they could easily give me! I had two of my packages given to someone that wasn't me. I rent a po box at this location though I will absolutely not renew once it's up. My parcel key to retrieve my packages was put in someone else's box & then of course the person never returned my packages. I was told by management to file a claim to get a refund. I then filed a claim that was denied because they said my package was delivered! Yes, it was delivered & you guys gave it to someone else! I've Also been given certified letters in my P.O. This review is only for the Phoenix 20th St/Camelback 85016 branch. I feel bad posting this review because most of the clerks I have dealt with at this Post Office have been friendly and accommodating. I walked into this PO last week with a media mail parcel and was help by Clerk 17. She questioned why I taped two LP mailers together. Earlier I had seen her question other clerks as to why they let a customer us the Priority Mail tape to tape a Priority Mail package. I came back to ship another parcel which was over 1 pound. I assumed it would ship Priority Mail due to weight. I walked in with an untaped parcel. While I was waiting in line I was yelled at by this same clerk #17 that I needed to tape my parcel. I mentioned I was shipping Priority Mail and she said "we dont give tape to customers". I mentioned I was here this morning and a customer was given Priority tape to tape their parcel. Then she yelled at me they are out of tape. I said make up your mind. You have given me two reasons which I know are not true. Which begs the question what is Priority Mail tape used for if not for Priority Mail packages? Makes absolutely zero sense. So I drove 15 minutes back to where I was staying to tape this box. Drove 15 minutes back and waited in line again to ship it. When I was at the head of the line clerk #17 walked away, refusing to help me, until another clerk was able to help me. Clerk #17 is a bully to her fellow clerks and should not be helping the general public. read more

this office is terrible!!!! they have a number that they never answer it rings for 3-4 minutes and then goes to busy signal and if they do answer they hangup on you as soon as they pickup pushing numbers like they are dialing out, i yell for help so they can hear me on the line but they do not respond, i wish the postmaster for phoenix would see this terrible service and replace the workers who are too bothered to do their job read more

Avoid this location as much as possible. I dropped off six packages yesterday morning at 8:42 am by putting them into the self service drop box. It clearly states that they empty that box 4 different times a day. It is now 7:50am the day after and none of my packages have been scanned once. I have never heard of this before, I called the local big hub and distribution center who all said they probably lost the packages or didn't do their job correctly. I have always brought my packages to the one off van Buren and I have never once seen a 24 hour turn around with no scan. Where are my packages usps? It is really hit and miss here depending on who's working, but lately I've been stunned at how poor the service is here and how rude the workers are. So many lies told over the years. So many times getting there at opening time to wait 10 minutes before they actually open. So many times watching dozens of employees scurrying around doing nothing while one person is at the counter and there is a line 10 deep. This is quite possibly the only gov. entity more poorly run than the VA. The employees, in my experience, would have to take energy pills for decades to work up to just slow and apathetic. In a real job in a real world there would be productivity requirements and consequences for horrible service. read more

Ordered live insects from a trusted seller who always marks it to be held at post office so the insects aren't riding around on a truck in AZ heat during delivery. I signed up for text updates on the package, and I left my work when I got the notification the package had arrived at the post office. When I got there, I was told it was sent out for delivery anyway and marked undeliverable even though I was at the office all day and we received several other packages. They tried to call the carrier but he wasn't answering, so they told me to come back tomorrow or 'flag him down if I saw him' and get my package that way? The next morning I got a notification saying my package had been dropped off at some location in a strip mall about 15 mins away. I drove to the given address right away. As best as I can guess, it was once a USPS counter at the back of a greeting card store, but now it's a nail salon, it was not open yet, and I have no idea how it's connected to USPS. I went back to the post office as soon as it opened, and manged to get my package. The package had a label on the outside that said requested it be held for pickup. The people at the counter were polite enough but unhelpful. This is the only post office that has not held a package for pickup when asked. The insects were still alive because the seller added a cooling pack, but more sensitive species could easily have died, and in any case it was a frustrating waste of time all around. read more

The ladies and drop box young guy that work here are incredibly nice (I'll get names next time I go in). I used to hate post offices, until I saw the general public waiting in line and how short and rushed they were with the workers no matter what. I'm sure it sucks having to work over hours just because people can't make it in, but they don't make their hours, the government does. I know wherever I've worked I've (along with all other workers) always wanted to leave right when it says closed, so I don't know why we expect these employees to be any different. These ladies are super nice and patient and they've always been incredibly pleasant with me when I go in. Go in with a positive, patient mindset and that's what you'll get back.
