Woohoo! As good as it gets! And, yes, I'm talking about a US Post Office. The Van Buren Street US Post Office will have you in and out lickety-split and I guarantee leaving with a smile on your face! I'm fortunate that this Post Office happens to be in my neighborhood, but I'd seriously drive out of my way to receive awesome customer service and avoid the inevitable lines and headache at other locations. The employees at this location are always so friendly, which makes it actually enjoyable to visit the Post Office! All of the employees seem to enjoy and take pride in their work, which shows in their interactions with the customers. The other day Terry saw my ASU card and said, "Go Devils!" I didn't hear her and thought there was something wrong with my card so I mumbled, "Huh?" Then she smiled and gave me the Sun Devil Pitchfork hand sign - how awesome is that?! 10 Reasons this Location is the Best 0. They have Harry Potter Forever Stamps! (okay, just a bonus reason) 1. Ample parking spaces 2. Friendly greeter who always says, "Have a nice day!" 3. Fully stocked mailing supplies and good selection of greeting cards 4. Extended hours: Mon-Fri 8:00am - 9:30pm; Sat 10:00am - 5:00pm 5. Knowledgeable employees help customers save money 6. Multiple customer service lanes means short wait times even with long lines! 7. Employees are friendly and seem to enjoy providing excellent customer service 8. U.S. Passport Office and Photo service 9. Drive-by mail drop option for stamped mail 10. Lobby is open 24/7 for around the clock access to P.O. Boxes

Ask the Community - US Post Office

Is this the main processing and distribution plant ? Where the machines are. I'm trying to transfer from Delaware I'm a mail processing clerk working in automation.

I'm not 100% sure because, unlike HNL, it's not connected to airport property. It is very close by, though. This is where all the big trucks come and it's the largest location I've found. Good luck with your transfer

There's a little gas station that's closer to me, but the USPS drop off inside didn't have the small priority boxes. This is a pretty large post office. There are tons of P.O. boxes. They did have self-service machine where you can handle most transactions yourself, but I was disappointed that the send package option was not currently working. That's pretty much the only reason I dropped a star. Rich seemed to be the only employee working the counter at the time, but he was quick and got us out in no time. There were 5 of us in line. When it was my turn, he asked the usual questions about the box I was mailing (any liquids perishables, etc.) and then asked if I wanted to purchase a book of stamps. I politely declined but was curious to know how much a single stamp is nowadays (I haven't sent snail mail in a loooooong time)!! He said the current rate is $.78 per stamp and that there's talk about the price hiking up to ninety-something cents in the future. Yikes!!! I remember when they were a quarter each!! My, how times have changed... Anyway, I'd definitely return to this Scottsdale location. There's a good size parking lot outside although I can imagine it getting packed during the holidays. 4 solid stars!

The reason I am giving this 5 stars is for the customer service. The gal behind the USPS counter was not only helpful, she was extremely friendly. She treated each customer as if they were a personal acquaintance. She was extremely knowledgeable on all the options I asked about and recommended the best option for my request. To boot, it wasn't the most expensive option. The store is clearly marked and meets COVID standards. Regardless if there is a location closer to me, I will definitely be returning to this store in the future. They also have lots of greeting cards and unique, interesting gifts. I do apologize for not having the 5 star service employee's name and not certain what day of the week I went in. It was August 18, 2020 around 3pm. Super friendly and deserving of props. When I go back I look to get her name and update this review. Thank you for be a ray of sunshine during this time when it is difficult to even see a smile. Enjoy y'all!

Giving love to the post office? What?…read more You would if you went here as often as I do. My first need for the good ol' USPS arose when I was an undergrad thousands of miles from home. I stood in line frequently between the hours of 9 and 5 to mail letters and packages to those people Far Far Away who would send me the same, as I was in what seemed to be The Middle Of Nowhere. And since then, having lived and traveled extensively abroad, and having as many connections internationally as domestically, I have a great need for the USPS. And have patronized heaps of offices since my little 18-year old self started making my weekly homage... I have been to post offices where the clerks flog you for not knowing how to prepare a package according to Official Guidelines. I have been to offices where there are seas of unhappy customers battling heat and their patience as they wait in line - with only one employee behind the counter. I have seen postal workers who couldn't care less about your dilemma or crisis - you simply are another annoyance in their day. And I have been to many wonderful places where the clerks smile, care, joke, help, and make what nearly always is a significant wait bearable. These are my ladies at Mill. There's an older brunette woman with an easy smile who last helped wrangle a package of mine into acceptable measurements. There's another older woman - with salt and pepper hair - who kindly told me that my international packages would be cheaper if I used their new standard Global Priority mailers. I could carry on about other mundane postal dealings, but my point here is that these clerks are some of the best out there in an environment that can be very tedious. It's the post office, for crying out loud. There will almost always be a wait. There is little variety in what to expect. And the process is very routine. But my ladies at Mill always have me leaving with a smile because, it seems, they make an effort.

Please, someone fire these two workers... they were simply talking each other instead of working…read more.. as a result we got 2 hours of lane for such a small place.. please get rid of these two immediately

Have avoided this PO like the plague for several months, but had an important letter to mail…read more There were some different staff there and they seemed to have their A/C turned on this time, which was good because it was 106 degrees today. One of the employees actually came out into the waiting area and queried those in line personally about whether they were merely picking up or dropping off a package that already had postage, instructing them to report to the far left window. At the far right was a newer employee who is extremely tall and muscular and friendly. As each customer left his window, he apologized for the wait, as there was a long line. But he works very fast, so the wait is not because of him. The female at the far left pickup window was a little strange. She had a big head bandana and crazy eyes. She had no one at her window and wasn't doing anything, nor was she announcing to newly arrived customers that if they only had a pickup or drop off they could come to her window -- other employees seemed to take on that "heavy mantle" FOR her. She only gave confrontational stares to customers in line, like she wanted to jump over the counter and fight with them for looking at her (probably wondering what her job was). The other employees were working a little slower, but not as slow as PAST longtime employees used to (maybe they finally retired). There used to be a middle aged lady with short spiky hair that worked so slow it was almost impossible to tell if she was moving. Just watching her made me feel like I was going into a coma. Maybe she is finally gone. SHE is the one who always SHOULD have apologized for the wait... Dare I say things are improving slightly over there. At least they had 4 active windows going. I'm curious as to what accounts for their sudden new motivation to actually do the jobs for which they are being handsomely paid... It is in a convenient location with good parking access IF you are going northbound on 7th Avenue. Otherwise you are pretty much SOL.

This is the worst post office in the country. The staff clearly hate their jobs (when you're…read moreactually able to interact with them), the counter closes earlier than any other post office I know of in phoenix (4:30 on weekdays, but last pickup is 5:00??), and the self-service options are always broken or out of service! I've actually had an attendant come out the door and YELL at me for freeing up the jammed drop box. Oh, I'm sorry -- that was YOUR job and you weren't doing it! I've seen staff empty out the same bin into a collection cart while tossing in boxes and muttering insane SON OF SAM things like "stupid people. What's wrong with people? Ugh!" Things *I* say, but mostly about the STAFF AT THIS POST OFFICE! Today I drove all the way over to ship packages with pre-paid postage knowing the staff wouldn't be present but the self-service box would likely be jammed... didn't even get that far! The ship station was out of printer paper and couldn't print ANY labels. I've seen them without receipt paper before, but this time it was the shipping labels and stamps! Wtf. They literally want to do the least, and they won't even let automation step in by letting customers do their job. I've had no less than 4 cases opened with USPS HQ where they've had to investigate the dumbest problems, and only THEN were they resolved. A missing green card, mail holds that never ended, other lost packages that show up after an agent had to research. Never drive to this post office if you need to ship something with a deadline.
