Always great service with every visit to this North Highlands Post Office on Watt Avenue. Even with a line of people waiting it seems to only take a minute before you are greeted by one of the customer service employees. The employees are always knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. Fire Wendy! If I could give zero stars, I would. My parents came in today for a scheduled passport appointment, and from the moment they walked in, Wendy gave them attitude for absolutely no reason. She was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Instead of completing their sensitive paperwork in a private office, she did it right out in the open--at the counter where people usually drop off mail--exposing their personal information, including Social Security numbers, to anyone who happened to walk in. They paid nearly $800 for this process and were treated with total disrespect. Completely unacceptable. We will never return to this location, and I strongly suggest others avoid it too unless they want their time, money, and privacy disrespected. Do better--and Fire Wendy. read more

I came here during the listed walk-in hours to get my passport and the gentleman at the counter was telling another woman that walk in hours were over even though they hadn't started yet her and I were quite frustrated because it's extremely misleading. Appointments are a month out and if I could, I would have made one. Fortunately, a very kind woman named Twynett who processes passport was able to help me and she was so sweet and efficient. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes and I was on my way. I understand the hours and the system is most likely beyond their control but as a consumer, it's extremely frustrating to follow those guidelines and rules and be turned away thankfully Twynett was able to help me and because of her, I should have my passport back in time for my honeymoon. Been coming to this branch to ship mails and parcels since I got in town. All the regular male employees (3 of them) were all nice and efficient. One was always chatty, one was regular chatty while one was more serious but is an observer. All three of them were always nice to transact with. There was just one instance during the holidays when they got a temp to help out. The woman was not so nice and made unnecessary comments about my package and she was loudly complaining about it too. My main complaint would be office hours. Most people work 9-5 so we can't come early, and your closed when we get off. Leaving one day a week for under paid workers to try and get to the long line post office before 2 pm on a Saturday when you need to be with your children. read more

Passed this location umpteen times and didn't realize I do frequent business so close to a post office, yay! Found a parking space immediately and no waiting in the service area. There were three customers and three clerks inside. Martin helped me with my transaction. I shared some information and Martin made a few shipping options based on my needs and I swiftly made a decision. Martin asked if I needed stamps or any other service before completing my transaction which was nice. I was in and out in under five minutes...how's that for a spot on Post Office experience. I have always gotten pleasant and great service EVERY time I've gone in here. Maybe you should remember when going in here that these people are SWAMPED on a daily basis so cut them a little slack. I come to this post office because that's where I live. It is really clean and tidy despite the fact that it is ghetto area. It is big and spacey. I always get helped here except the last visit. I was supposed to pick something up from there, but forgot the slip that they put in your door. So I came there and they took my address and went searching for my letter. In a minute a guy returns and states that my shit was mailed back. Can you imagine my despair? I go home finds slip, come back with it and my letter magically gets found. LAZY!!! Been helped by Snipes twice now and can confirm that he goes above and beyond to help customers. The first time I was helped by him, I was very upset to hear the worker next to him be very rude to a man who didn't speak English. It was hard to hear but I was unable to help the man break a large bill and couldn't cover the cost of his package either. The man was very confused and the worker just kept raising his voice and repeating himself even though the man had no clue what he was saying. I understand how the situation could be frustrating but the worker didn't change his approach at all and it was super upsetting to overhear. Snipes immediately jumped in to help and was so kind to the customer. The situation was resolved quickly and everyone was happy. The second time I came in he was so helpful to me, a mom with a toddler in hand and helping me figure out the best was to ship and even helped me package it up. My trip today started with me returning a pair of boots. The only box I had was the one they sent me which allowed two pairs of to fit. I was going to pay $41.00 to return a $70 pair of boots. Wendy was so helpful once I told her the company was also going to charge me a 15% restocking fee. She suggested I try using the large priority box and they fit and I saved $21.00. Kind of weird how no one has posted a review on this branch but maybe because no one dares to really go on their way out to any place in North Highlands? Well here is my review: 1. I was not happy with the new regulation in having to pay to get my mailbox key for the home I just moved to. But after the Usps lady explained what ?I need to do, where I need to sign, when I will get the key- was outta there in less than 5 minutes--I didn't mind paying! It was a smooth transaction = happy camper. 2. I don't know if I'm lucky but every time I go here the lines are very quick. 3. Customer service--contrary to other post offices is excellent!! And the reason for the 5th star missing--location. I have nothing against North Highlands--I actually just moved here...but coming from Natomas I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable with the creepy people in the front where people usually park. read more

This place need to expand, I dare not to stand in line and get some stamps. If you ever think of going here unprepared "Don't" or you will find yourself waiting in line for the next 30 mins. I always go to get my stamp else where and I make sure I have things ready before I talk to a postal clerk. I wouldn't find myself here at night with out a baseball bat or gun, because it's not to well lite and a lot of empty parking lots surrounding it. Like every post office, you are going to stand in line for awhile, so make sure you bring something to read or listen to music, or start up a conersation. Be sure to have whatever your sending out ready, that way you can get out faster. Overall, my experience with this USPS has been really positive. They are efficient, affordable, and helpful. FedEx and UPS are way more expensive - I shipped packages here for less than $3 that would have been more than $8 at FedEx. The line can get kind of screwy, especially since so many people are using the counter to fix up packages and it can be hard to tell the order. People will try to cut in front of you if you're writing addresses while in line. I'd suggest looking up details/questions online and making sure you have everything ready to send (addressed, packaged) before you come in so you can get straight in line. Free envelopes are available in the front, but you must ship priority mail if you use them (meaning it's slightly more expensive). They'll also ask you a bunch of questions before mailing your package, it's a bit extra to track shipment and get insurance. If you have flammable items (like perfume) I believe you have to ship express. Last time I went in, Patty was super helpful! She was supposed to be going on break but stayed longer to help me understand and find the cheapest/best way to ship. She also brought a selection of envelopes out that were marked down so I could have some ready for next time. So shout out to her for being awesome! read more

I have been with n. Highland post office since 2006 and never had any major problems till lately last january i made my p.o. box payment i put payment in the office in the letter mail slot about 2 or 3 weeks later i go to get my mail and i had been locked out. When o asked about it they told me i never maid payment and now i owed 75 dollors more and that they were going to send all my mail back to senders so paid the 75 bucks ever since then all my important mail gets sent back to sender. ie; my monthly stock check, my credit card statments and now my tag renewel from DMV. All i get in my box is junk mail and a bill to pay my p.o. box! I went inside talked to a man about it and all he said was " what do you want me to do about it" i was shocked by his reply i said " hell i dont know i dont work here can you put a note on my box and tell them to quit sending it back" his reply was " so and so ( i dont remeber her name) is good at her job" and still i only get junk mail. So i advise that no one should rent a box from these idiots, they are mot helpfull in anyway they are to lazy to even do their job correctly. You should seek a better post office than this one! Because of them i have had to pay out x amount of dollors in late fees and insuffecent funds from my credit card company and my bank!. Boy cot this office cuz they SUCK!!!!! read more

I am very disappointed with the service of USPS overall. I mailed a package on 10/08/15. I checked the tracking on 10/9/15. It stated and still does that it was delivered and picked up 15min later. It was suppose to be going to MN. I tried calling the customer service number and couldn't get thru after a waiting period of 1hr and 10 min. They said my wait was 39min to 50 min. So, I went down to the post office and talked to one of the clerks. After explaining why I was there he said that it's not suppose to be delivered until the 13th. I once again explained ( because he obviously wasn't listening) that they said it had been delivered 15 min later and picked up. He looked at me like he was on drugs. I said can't you do something for me? He walked away and came back 5 min later with a print out and then walked away. I checked the info and left.
