I am posting this review to warn local residents who rely on this post office for secure mail…read moredelivery, specifically those using the PO Boxes at this location. On Thursday morning, an envelope containing $1,000 was delivered to my assigned PO Box. When I went to retrieve it, the box was completely empty. Upon speaking directly with the employee on duty behind the counter, they admitted on camera that they had been misplacing mail across multiple PO Boxes during that shift. They explicitly confirmed that mail intended for other customers had been swapped into wrong boxes throughout the morning. Despite this immediate admission of sorting errors, no immediate fix was available. A physical check of neighboring boxes and casing units by management yielded nothing, meaning $1,000 intended for critical living expenses was either misdelivered to another customer who walked off with it, lost in the facility, or stolen. To make matters worse, this facility does not have security cameras installed in the PO Box lobby area, leaving zero video trail or accountability when misdelivery or theft occurs inside what is supposed to be a secure federal building. This loss of $1,000 could not have come at a worse time. I am currently pregnant, navigating a career transition before starting a new job, and relying on those funds to cover basic necessities like my car payment and groceries. Having $1,000 vanish from a locked PO Box--combined with staff actively confirming that mail was being placed in wrong boxes that exact morning--is entirely unacceptable for a federal service. I have formally escalated this issue by filing claims with the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) and contacting federal representatives for a formal inquiry. However, if you are a local resident considering renting a PO Box or having anything of value mailed to this facility, please be extremely cautious. Double-check your mail immediately, do not send cash or uninsurable valuables here, and be aware that sorting errors are actively occurring without lobby camera oversight to back you up.

I spent a lot of my childhood at my Grandma's house in Loomis, scurrying to the top of the playset to watch as trains flew past. I loved falling asleep to the gentle sounds of steel wheels hitting train tracks as a kid, and now that I live in midtown Sacramento, I still get to hear it, and it makes me happy. I'll stop being a Sheldon Cooper, and get on with it. Although trains have not stopped here for many years, the Loomis Train Depot has recently been restored to its former glory as a historical point of interest train station in the heart of the town of Loomis. You can't miss it. Just follow Horseshoe Bar Road from the Loomis exit off of I-80, past Taylor Road, until it dead ends at Blue Anchor Park, behind Taylor's, where you should also stop for a Golden Eagle Shake. GO DOHS! It is currently the site of town hall meetings, and inside you'll find a gavel and courtroom style chair set up along with a small train museum for enthusiasts. It's also an awesome venue for a small party or in this month's case, a bridal shower. There are plenty of chairs, tables, and a kitchen complete with sink, trash cans, microwave and fridge. I liked this location as a venue so much that I have my eye on it for the future.
