History of Medford
John S.

I just spent 55 minutes in line with 2 people in front of me and 3 people standing in line behind me. There were 4 clerks behind 2 service windows. Only one of them was working. Rest of them were talking among themselves, and from time to time 'checked us out'. They were hoping we will give up waiting, I guess. The post office is dirty, clerks unpleasant, and the historical mural, now covered by a dusty piece of a disgusting plastic is really something to look at. Medford citizens must like it, nobody is objecting to this service, but I do not like to come here anymore. I recommend you avoid this post office and go somewhere else, unless you want to spend your time. No wonder post office can't reach profitability with such workers and such attention to clients. They make sure clients are not offended by a piece of history, and can enjoy modern neglect, ignorance and laziness instead.

It's a post office where it has stamps, boxes and you can mail things but the service lines are horrific!!

It is true and thus I will say it. I was absolutely blown away by my experience at this US Post…read moreOffice location. Never before in my years of toiling and moiling and moheling have I had an actively positive experience at a US Post Office. Whether because of the havoc wreaked by utterly shameless customers, because of the misery cultivated by aggressive employees, or because of the intoxication prompted by terrible chemicals in the air, a simple trip to the post office is rarely simple. But lo and behold, an exception is found at ZIP code 02138! And to think the skeptics warned us to be wary of a ZIP code beginning with zero (0). This US Post Office graced me with the swiftest post office experience known to humankind: I entered to ship a box and ship a box I did. Some may say that the pleasure and speed were a gift of the self-service kiosk I used. Indeed no human interaction was required. A mere machine took the addresses and dimensions and weights and masses. But as we know soon the machines will be the humans and the humans will be the machines or something along those lines; of course someone once noted that the last shall be first, and the first last. Aye.

This experience was by far the worst, I waited in line there was only one person ahead of me. I'm very very noticeable so the big huge unhappy piece of flesh behind the booth doing the passport was so bothered by my present he waited 5 minutes just to look up and still not greet me lol. Again I'm used to being mistreated because I'm black but he was black too and not only that but the fattest person I have ever seen so I was so confused, stay with me so I wasn't helped to say the lest because we spent the time going back and forth about how his customer service was 100 percent with the customer before me. I have a trip I'm planning for and needed my passport I took work off today just to be not helped by a man who lacks body health. This location is a no for me. Get it together seriously I'm disappointed and disgusted this was so distasteful.

Minus one star for customer service. Last time I went in, I needed a money order. I got the money order quick enough, and without issue, but since it was raining, I asked for an envelope to protect the money order slip. The cashier told me she didn't have any envelopes. How is it that a *post office* doesn't have an envelope? The post office processes plenty of small and important documents that people store in envelopes, so I can't imagine that my request is that unusual.

This post office boasts a 4.0 rating, but its actual service is an absolute joke. They claim to…read moreopen at 6:00 AM. I arrived at 7:30 AM to closed doors, which was bad enough, but by 8:00 AM, they still hadn't opened. Their excuse? 'Understaffing.' Yet, there was absolutely zero notification of this on their official website. This is a staggering level of incompetence. It's not even a question of good or bad customer service--there was literally no one there to provide it. Nearly 20 people were trapped waiting inside, all of them in a massive rush because they needed to mail their items before clocking into work. This chaotic mess is a direct result of USPS's systemic mismanagement. It is acceptable to face staffing shortages, but it is completely unacceptable to fail to update your official hours online. You mislead the public into believing you open at 6:00 AM, post a note on the wall saying 8:00 AM, and then fail to honor even that time due to a 'lack of personnel.' This is utterly ridiculous and disrespectful of people's time. Zero stars."
