Alright, so I waited yesterday, USPS online said my package should be delivered here by 8:45pm, nothing. So I waited again today & when I went outside to check all I saw was letter mail & "we redeliver for you!" Stating "oversized heavy" this package is around 40 pounds. At least knock on my door I would of pick it off your truck. Now I have to go to the downtown location which parking is impossible to find. I did postal overseas twice & I hate civilians workers, they are very LAZY! This building is unprofessional the staff is horrible I have had my department of treasury checks lost or stolen from this building multiple occasions I have missing mail almost frequently. The staff does not care and they will not try to help the worst manager as well as Loss prevention manager I have ever spoke to if I can report to the local news I would because this building need to be under investigation from the staff!!! the manager is rude which he only gave me his first name Drew and loss prevention is horrible he had no explanation to what happen to my mail but was adamant that I should accept the loss and go about my day thank you for nothing. I had to drop off a package before lobby opening hours and had to literally fight with the mailbox chute to even get it open so I can place my packages inside of it.. Also, homeless people were sleeping inside the PO Box area so just be aware of your surroundings when inside. I have had 2 packages lost this week. Both were marked as delivered, but never were. This has actually happened to me in the past 2 other times, and the packages were never recovered. I tried calling this post office using the number provided on this Yelp page...don't even bother. They don't answer. I called 5 times. I'm about to go in to try to sort it out but I'm not holding my breath. **UPDATE** went to the post office and they couldn't locate the packages. They said they will notify the mail carrier to check if they put them in the wrong mail box. If they don't show up, then I need to file a missing package claim, which does NADA. The way I see it, USPS owes me money for the packages they lost/stole/whatever, and marked as delivered. However, the lady who helped me at the post office was really nice. If you are picking up a package, PLEASE go straight to window 8 which is behind the elevator when you first enter. I was about to go into the main line until I remembered a few reviews talking about a line behind the elevator. I was so glad I found that window, otherwise I'd be waiting in the other line for 30 minutes. The line to pickup packages was not long at all. For a tip, have your tracking number and ID ready at the window. The lady at the window did not have an inviting vibe, but I just brushed it off. At first I was worried because I saw a lot of upsetting reviews how people went to pickup their packages and left empty handed. I did not want to be that person so I tried to not give the lady at the front desk any trouble. I gave her the info she needed, and was able to get my package. First off, my carrier wasn't able to deliver my package because I wasn't home. I requested redelivery twice and my package still wasn't delivered. If you're trying their redelivery service, it's not gonna happen. Overall, it's just a typical post office. Don't expect the best service. read more

I hope this place gets smashed in an earthquake. They did not even try to deliver to my shipping address. I was there all day waiting for my package. Tracking number says it's available for pick up. No notice left. There's no free parking. So I have to pay for parking on top of shipping fees where they couldn't even do the job. Then I suck it up and do that. I wait in the long line for nothing where it turns out that the pick up window is hidden by the PO boxes. They need to put some signs saying so!! I could've been in and out quickly. When I go to the pick up window, it turns out they can't find my package even though the tracking number tells me it's available for Pick up. The clerk thinks it might be out for redelivery. If it's not delivered then I'm supposed to come back for them to take my information and be contacted for updates. If that ends up the case, I'm not going to bother. This location has wasted my time though already. The item I ordered is no longer worth the displeasure of having to deal with this company. I hate to be harsh but the USPS drives me mad. Nonstop misinformation, destroyed mail, lost packages and there's no recourse no matter what. Too bad it's competitors aren't any better for me. read more

Everyone always has to wait at least 15-20 min. They're slow and inefficient. Pickup window is at #9, don't wait in the regular drop off line on a busy day to be told 40 min later at the window that you need to go wait at window #9. At least the building is aweome looking. read more

Dear USPS, This is my unofficial personal complaint. Your service is slow, you guys are very disorganized, and need to work smarter. I came here to pick up a package. There is only one window, behind the elevator, that provides pick-up service. This single line is for complaints of lost deliveries and pick-ups. When people come here to complain about lost packages, they can stall the line for a long time. I can understand them, because who would be happy when their delivery cannot be found? However, at the same time, USPS needs to find a smarter way to move the line. Please do something about this. Either create another window for complaints and misc activities and another for people who have their pick-up slips for an express service. Also, if you cannot find the package within 3 minutes, please do not go searching any longer. The person in front of me patiently waited 15 minutes only to find out that the carrier cannot locate the package. Luckily, he didn't vent his frustration and held the line longer for others. Everyone in the line was grunting at the level of service. If this keeps up, I am all for privatization of the postal service. read more

This is a downtown post office that mainly serves the community around it. Parking is mostly non-existent so you have to walk. The women that work at the front counter are great. They have to put up with a lot of the hassles and inconveniences that come with such a large downtown location. I've seen them be yelled at and abused by customers, they always remain calm. This is a review for the passport department. In order to have a passport renewed you must call to make an appointment. To make an appointment you must call the number they provided. I called multiple times but had no response. I called the state department to see if I had the wrong number but it was in fact, the correct number that they gave me and was advised to call again as the only option. I called every day for an entire week Monday through Friday to try to reach them. Not just one call, but every few minutes on my commute to work which is an hour. Not once did some pick up the phone instead auto hangs up after a while. That is almost two hundred phone calls without an answer. Now, the only logical conclusion is that either no one is at the department OR they are not picking up phone calls which is fine IF they didn't require you to call to make an appointment for their services. They NEVER answer their phone. They never have the same carriers. The carriers on my route frequently forget their arrow key to get in to the gangboxes at my apartment. Which means they often can't get in the property or actually deliver packages. It has been costly to have things reshipped, but to my husband's work address in Orange County, as these people can't seem to get it together. read more

Came here to pick up my package before 830am when they supposed to open for business. Waiting in line for 15 mins and was told that pick up window was not open until 9am which is fine I'll wait. Saw a lady sitting Inside of pickup counter. Asked if she could help me, first she ignored me like I am not existed. 5 mins later she looked at me with her side eye said no she cannot help. Really???? It's how you service the customer. If u cannot help or not time to work then say something when I ask or leave a sign out with accurate pickup time for ppl to know. I don't usually write reviews unless i'm happy but this one is definitely an exception... but since i'm reporting them to their higher authority, why not yelp, too, to help other people out who are experiencing hardship and frustration with mail delivery post offices, particularly this one?! The worst customer service I have ever experienced here and i'm returning from 17 years away from this area. Where do I begin and end? I'll try to be brief before I go back in there to make sure my mail is properly forwarded to another location in the area for "General Delivery". What I will say is make sure that you go do business at the Post Office already knowing what services are standard for customers and what is considered "courtesy". The supervisor Amber made me think she was extending a "courtesy" to me when it was just standard mail delivery options. I mean to let her know as I report the service to a higher authority about my important missing mail. I don't know how much mail has been delivered here that I haven't received in the last thirty days. I had to open a case and report identity theft and stolen mail...and i'm not done, especially if I can't retrieve my CA ID from the DMV that said they sent it a week 1/2 ago. They seem understaffed but the staff they have there move slow and lazy in the back. The mail looks strewn all over the place and they look disorganized. I had to go in there twice in one day to get mail I should've received once. The beginning: They charged me $22 late fee for a post office box i've had for six months, after a ten day grace period with their office being closed on the last day of the grace period, instead of Amber "extending the courtesy" of waiving that ridiculous fee (which actually would've been the definition of courtesy extended), she chose to mention a standard procedure that I could hold my mail for 30 days, but that my box would remain closed and they would switch out the locks and it would take up to 48 days for the box to be available, again. I turned in the keys and waited for the locks to be changed so I could retrieve the box (so I wouldn't have to change my address everywhere, which I now have to do, anyway because she made sure that I would have to, because I was getting around the late fee and she was all too happy she figured out how and threw it in my face 30 days later when she decided that the hold would be lifted at the 30th day mark AFTER I spoke to her staff that confirmed with me well before 30 days, and was told that my mail hold would be extended to May 5th and that my mail would NOT be forwarded to the change of address she forced me to give her 30 days ago that she conveniently forgot about yesterday (but prided herself on remembering the entire exchange that happened 30 days ago with her selective memory, apparently), when she simultaneously decided to override her staff and the confirmation the staff member gave me. The change of address for forwarding is in MD... so now I have to pay about $20 to get that mail, eventually). That forwarding address doesn't have my CA ID tho'...because this post office has it or one of their staff took my mail because i'm not understanding why I've been getting piece mail in fragments upon past deliveries unless my mail is scattered all over that damn office, disorganized and irresponsibly. Anyway, i'm about to calm myself down and focus on "general delivery" (that I just learned about when I placed my complaint with USPS with the intent of the US Postal Inspection Service also investigating my stolen mail), the general delivery will be set up at a different location closer to my house. I don't need to deal with the possibility of my mail being stolen here, again. I just put in my report to the Office of Inspector General, today. I hope there are cameras in there. Now, I have to find another post office to set up my box. Better I learned about their disorganization thru a simple mail hold that later tho'. I wonder how many other pieces are lost in the fray, there, that I might get months from now or not at all. Integrity is totally shot. FIRE THAT SUPERVISOR, ASAP, she went out of her way and she doesn't even know me, or what i'm capable of....she will learn because I don't have nothing but time when it comes to tampering with my identity. read more

This is the WORST post office location I have ever been to, and I frequent post offices as I've lived apart from my friends and family for several years now. This location is huge, yet they have very limited supplies out for customers and they have VERY limited staff onsite. While there are at least 9-10 windows for service, they never have more than two people working; and there is always a line for assistance. Also, while they offer a self service kiosk, if your package doesn't fit into the outgoing mail slot, you have to then wait in said line to give your paid postage package to a staff person to put into the outgoing mail bin. What kind of self service system is that? How is that customer service oriented?? I know you are struggling USPS but you've got to do better here! read more

The woman at the pick up window was such a rude individual. This is by far the worst USPS I've ever been to. USPS does not deliver to my apartment complex so I went to pick up my package at 4:30 pm. I had food items that needed to be refrigerated within 24 hours of delivery and I stood inline just to have the woman Yell viciously at me from the window in front of all the customers picking up their packages and my child that she was done and would not be helping anyone after the woman in front of me. Keep in mind there was NO ONE behind me. I was there 30 minutes before they closed and she refused to help me because she "couldn't" take anymore customers. I explained to her that my child's breast milk is in there and she said that is "not her problem". I told her to please just let me pick it up since it had to be refrigerated and she continued to yell at me saying she did not care and that i should have came in sooner.... as if i wasn't there at 4:30. USPS store is at it again claiming packages are being delivered to my parcel locker and they aren't! Same shit I had to deal with last year and this is the 4th package that just completely vanished without a trace!!! I have submitted yet another complaint and have it currently being investigated. Don't waste your time trying to go here to pick anything up you've got to pay for parking and will be standing in line forever. I've had packages lost and other people's packages/mail consistently delivered to me. I spoke with the branch manager, "Mike" on two separate occasions regarding a lost package that was an eBay purchase. All I needed was a letter from the P.O. regarding the lost package and eBay would issue a refund. Mike assured me I would receive a letter. NO letter ever received. If the manager cant even do his job as he promised how should we expect the carriers to be good at their job either. No Parking, long lines, window clerks with a dont-give-a-crap attitude and incompetent management.....Long Beach Post Office is a complete joke. Avoid this place at all costs. Go to another Post Office in a different city or better yet, use FedEx or UPS. read more
