I was one of the masses, mailing my Dad's taxes two days before the deadline. I came here only 5 minutes before their closing time of 5pm. Of course there was a line. Please don't bother coming here, go to any other Post Office. There's always a line no matter what time of day, they're always out of 90% of their inventory, and their self service machine has been broken since the dawn of time. I've been here a few times before and it sucked, but I'm willing to put up with quite a bit. Today's experienced ensured I'll never return. I needed to mail two things and didn't have envelopes large enough for them at home. Because they're out of most everything, I made due with what I could find. They also only had two ball point pens available, but most of the envelopes in stock were the ones that required a sharpie. None in sight. So I get in line, planning to ask the ONE employee to borrow their sharpie at the window to jot down the address as I check out. He takes forever, we might as well have been serviced by a sloth. I finally get to the front after nearly 30 minutes and ask for the pen and he tells me I can leave and get back in line when I'm ready. The line is now nearly to the door. It'll take 5 seconds for me to write the address, he's taken his sweet time with EVERY OTHER CUSTOMER, but now he's in a rush (if thats what it could be called). I took his sharpie, I put it in the cup holder next to the line for the next poor soul and I left. This particular post office would do better to accept its fate and just fade away into the ether than subject anyone else to this "service". I forgot that this location sucks for a few reasons. The first no mailbox outside or skit to drop off mail. The customer services here is horrible and they take forever. Now a standard letter cost .78 cents and I would say in a few more years the post office will go out of business due to their high rates. If ups and fedex lowered there rates and undercut the price at the post office. Almost every of important is now paperless and so why do we need a post office any more. The U.S. Postal Service increased First-Class Mail Forever stamp prices to 78 cents (up from 73 cents) effective July 13, 2025. These adjustments, part of a 7.4% average increase for mailing services, include higher rates for postcards (61 cents) and metered mail (74 cents), Just think in a few years you will pay $1.00 per letter to mail!!! read more

I was assaulted by a male postal employee after he screamed at me, got within 2 inches of my face while continue to yell at me, then finally used his chest to aggressively physically shoved me. He had at least 4 inches and 30 pounds on me. He was upset that I use the word fuck in his presence, despite the fact that there is no law against using swear words and in fact it is protected speech. I did not use this word towards him, like fuck you, or you fucking asshole, instead I use this word in the context of "sometimes you're really fucking sick and you make a fucking mistake" I never raised my voice, I never called him any names, and I never did anything aggressive. I am an autistic middle-age woman who is visibly frail. Nothing in our interaction I did broke any laws or would constitute having the police called on me, but once he found out I was recording him he almost immediately threatened to call the police. He is a tall, imposing, sturdy man who said, captured on video, "I can do anything and everything I please" Since Covid I have noticed that in multiple post offices the male employees have become much more aggressive and both male and female employees seem extremely entitled to say anything they want, to anyone they want, and if you complain they threatened to call the police on you. This needs to stop. I am not the only female customer who has had issues at multiple Long Beach post office and does not feel safe while in the presence of the male employees. Just two weeks ago I had a conversation with three other women after hours at the post office on Grand and we had all had disturbing incidents and did not know what to do. This has consistently been the most pleasant post office we've ever been to. They always are the definition of customer service. The friendly and warm staff at the counter are always smiling and welcoming, and often start off apologizing for your wait if there is more than 2 ppl in line. If you want to feel depressed come here. If you seen Zootopia and it's Sloth scene, and want a real life experience of that, come here. Unfortunately I've never had a pleasant experience at this location. Upon entering this place, it isn't really well kept nor clean. Products out of place, sticker/label residue stuck in countless areas, items not restocked, etc...I can go on and on. I'm surprised how any supervisor (if there is one) would be happy with its appearance. Coming in at opening is pointless unless your the first few. Otherwise be prepared to wait...and wait. The day I visited I was 6th in line and clocked in a 35min wait. I don't understand why there isn't extra help? Look I get it, at times your a one man band and hustle as quickly as possible all while servicing the customer, but I've been here with a dozen of people in line, with the one employee working having personal conversations of barbecues, places he's been too, or anything else random, and it's just all unnecessary. The clerk isn't exactly mean or rude from my experience, but seems oblivious to the mounting frustration building in the line or he simply doesn't care. I come here due to the convenience, it's on my way to work and it's in a shopping center area with Trader Joe's, Target, other shops and restaurants for errands. Which makes it more surprising that this Postal Office operates the way it does. They circle and tell you to please fill out the survey of your experience upon receiving your receipt, which is laughable, wondering if they would actually care? But I'm not holding my breath. There is another post office I can go to it's a bit out of the way, but given the service and time I can save there, my next visit will be there. read more

Horrible customer service! I am a govt employee and stopped here for some change of address forms that we use when working with low income clients. It costs money to change an address online, plus you need an email address. Thus, these forms are necessary. When I asked for a few more forms I was curtly informed me to "order some, that's what we have to do." Okay, noted. I asked if they are free; advising that I too am a govt employee and we are over budget and therefore this is no money for forms that come with a fee. The male USPS Rep then had the audacity to chime in (with a customer in front of him btw) and reiterate what the female just advised. I don't need to be informed twice, when I clearly understand the first time. Not to mention, no peanut gallery remarks needed, your colleague had the situation handled just fine. I would rather drive out of my way than come back to this location. I understand being overworked and underpaid, but I also agree with the need to leave your own stuff at the door when in a position of helping others. I'm not sure if the people who work here could be less helpful. Thank god for the kiosks so I can do most shipping myself. This place runs at a snails pace and I am always spoken down to for not knowing exactly what packaging/postage I need. Certain priority mail envelopes are only kept behind the counter so you have to wait in line even if you plan on using the kiosk. Today I was trying to quickly drop off a prepaid package and I was treated like a kindergartener who couldn't do simple math. The customer service is just awful. My two babies were crying because the visit took so long and by the end of the ordeal I was crying too. No sympathy or help. Phil, the older white man with a ponytail is the worst postal worker that exists and should be fired immediately. I will be filing a formal complaint w the govt as well as the postmaster for his egregious behavior. I showed up today with 88 wedding invitations that had a wax seal INSIDE the envelope. I stood in the typical long line for this post office and was dreading going up to him because he's been an asshole on more than 1 occasion. Unfortunately when I was next in line, I had to go to this asshole's counter. He put the envelope in that stencil thingy with the slot to determine the thickness of a package. It slid right through!!! Zero issues going thru. In fact, room to spare. so then he tried to tell me these 88 envelopes will require additional postage beyond a standard envelope because, "There's something bumpy in there. Feel it. Do you feel that? Is there something bumpy in there?!" Well dumbass Phil tried the wrong one, because I don't give a damn how many people are around, you ain't gonna talk to me like that!! So I clapped back and said, "over my dead body will you charge me extra when the thickness of every one of these envelopes fits just perfectly through that slot. I don't want your assistance anymore, give me someone else to help me." He told me to step aside. Get this... I was the 2nd person that stepped to the side to not work with that asshole today! And when I stood to the side, the other guy said, "That guy is so awful. That's why I am also standing here, I never work w him." And more proof is in all these reviews that he is garbage and should be fired asap! I waited some more and went to the counter to a nice african american woman who said my 88 invitations were perfectly fine to send w a regular stamp and didn't require extra postage. What a joke. Quick service as this location is small. Though the customers flow quicker than any other post offices around. The staff members are friendly and willing to help. The parking is free. There's Trader Joe's next door as well as Target and Big Lots so you can do lots of shopping or just to walk around and just kill time. read more

This postal office lost my package and the customer service I received was negligent. I had dropped off a medium sized box package, and the shipping label on it was never scanned. After waiting more than two weeks, I went to the last place the package was seen, only to be told immediately by one of the workers, Phil, that they do not hold any packages in the office. I was given a number to call their consumer affairs office, (323) 586-1250, only to be met with no agent on the other side. I left a message and have still not received a call back after a week.
