Relating to an online return. A Monday morning at 10:30 (i know different times affect service). Parking was easy. I was returning an online purchase that had a slightly different process than i have experienced. The clerk was pleasant and super helpful in explaining what was to be done, the best way for me to proceed and helped me get it done. He was just sitting on his phone scrolling through TikTok while "helping" me at the same time. Had a scheduled passport appointment for a minor at 9 am. Get there, the three of us (both parents and son because we all have to be there) standing at the door waiting. The person who was working didn't say anything to us. A lady came from the back to do something and was like oh, are you waiting for the passports. Me: Yes, we are. Her: The appointments for the day have been canceled; you should have received a call and an email. Me: I didn't receive either of those things that's why we are here, that's frustrating we took time off work and my son is missing school to be here. When is the next appointment? Her: Next Thursday. She said or you can do a walk-in at the SDSU or the Jamul location. We leave; I'm upset. I checked my emails when I got in the car. I did receive an email notifying me that my 9 a.m. appointment was canceled; the email was sent at 8:30 a.m. that morning. read more

I called at 11:45 this morning to see if they have walk in hours for passports. They said yes, beginning at 1:00. I confirmed the address with the man on the phone and we showed up at 1:00. They had a sign saying "no passports today." The guy at the counter said he didn't know who I talked to but they couldn't do it today. So annoying! read more

The manager Jessica (younger, shorter female) has very bad customer service, especially for a manager. New fees are going into effect for PO boxes. We did NOT receive the 1st notice AT ALL in the PO Box. The 2nd + 3rd notices are both worded differently + contradict themselves, as well as the other. BIG Line..... Went in to pay for PO Box that is due next month. She told me It's not due yet, you can't pay. I knew I had payed B4 the due date B4 + told her. She said "you can't pay B4 the due date + that the instructions on the paperwork were for people who's bills were due in January". (Mine is due next month in February). I told her that is not stated anywhere on the papers Dismissive again, ..... "you can't pay early". I asked for a manager, she said she was. She asked if I wanted the customer service number, I said please, she said.... sarcastically..."they can explain it for you" Her knowing that numerous people are coming in due to poorly written notices, should apologize, + point that out. She also should of told me that I can pay early, which I knew I had, but it needs to be 30 days or less till the due date., + in 9 days I could come back + pay it early. She is, supposedly, the manager + has seriously poor customer service skills to say the least. The facility itself is Pretty good now...... I am giving one star because the customer service is non-existent. Today, I went to send an envelope but realized after paying that I had forgotten to include one document. When I requested to cancel my purchase because the document was at home, the african-american male courier got mad at me and ripped off the label. When I told him he didn't need to rip off the label and just let me retrieve the documents inside, he rudely replied, "I don't care." To make matters worse, he kept my receipt and didn't return my money--$14. Who is hiring all these people? They never seem to get tired of being rude. USPS should contact me to return my money; otherwise, I will sue them. This was a frustrating and disappointing experience. read more

I went in the PO at Grossmont to mail a letter and I asked for a certificate of mailing and the clerk looked at me and said " we don't do that here try another office " I said what aren't you a PO? She said we don't have all the services here. ??????? That was crazy read more

I've been to this location twice to use the self service machine. The first time the machine took my money and didn't give me my stamps. The second time, the machine was out of order. Go during business hours. Parking is available in the back of the building. read more

This is the second time the mail carrier has delivered a package to a parcel locker, and put the key in someone else's mailbox. The first time I was told that since we didn't have insurance on the package, they weren't responsible for misplacing it. Okay. Whatever. I was able to get reimbursed by the vendor, thank God! This time, TODAY, same thing. Delivered in a parcel locker, but the key is in someone else's mailbox. Get it together! People spend money on these items and the mail carrier is being so damn careless. It's so frustrating. Update. My husband called the post office and they were able to contact the mail carrier and correct the issue which I really appreciate. read more

Not good, not bad. There was nothing extraordinary about my visit. I'm happy the Saturday hours end at 1pm. They do not have any tape for customers so bring your own. I didn't see it available for purchase either. It's very small inside. You may wait outside because fits three waiting customers comfortably. read more

This location provided a poor costumer service, and very poor costumer solution services. They are far below the standards of any carrier I have ever used and would not even recommend them. I don't know how this company stays in business with the lack of resources to costumers. Avoid if possible. read more

This location is okay, just kind of tricky to park due to it being attached to the library building. I don't personally like it as well as the old location which had a more personal feel to it. This one feels more inconvenient but that may just be because I haven't gotten used to it yet. I was very comfortable in the old one and had gotten to know the setup, the clerks, etc. I guess I just don't like change, sigh. Oh and if you want to drop off your mail in a mailbox, they keep those about a block away, which you probably wouldn't know if you didn't live in the area. Not too logical a location. read more

US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - La Mesa, California

I enjoy the fact that this location is close to where I stay when I'm in San Diego. It's a clean area and pretty organized. The people at the counter were very helpful and helped answer my friend's questions. The lobby is huge and I haven't seen this location ever that busy. It's also good to know that if I ever need to drop off mail I can always go in any time of the day and drop it off in their drop off location in the lobby. read more

So I was basically refused service today. It was 4:43 or so when I made it to the Post Office on Friday (it doesn't serve the working class that post office closes at 5pm) anyhow... I thought I made it, but the lady working today on March 10th was not much help, I had to send out a small envelope package with 2 light items internationally, but this post office worker basically said no to me "you passed the time" when I told her that last time I was there it was the same time and I had no problems, she responded that "she couldn't do it she was by herself today" (there was only one other customer there beside me) . The only reason I'm giving this location 2 stars and not 1 is because last time the other woman working was very very helpful and i arrived at same time, she helped me out so much since last time it was my first time sending package to Canada, and she was way busier than this lady with way more customers. This business needs to give more training to its workers if they don't feel comfortable doing their job and I get that it was close to closing time, but common! I would have understood and maybe even sympathized if the post office was busy, but it was basically empty. Now I have to make another trip to post office tomorrow , and for sure will not be coming to this location after this type of service! Waste of time! read more

I come to this location even though theres a closer one to my house because its right next to the library so I can kill two birds with one stone. I have an online store so I come to the post office quite frequently. I never had a problem with speed or service here until the past 3 times I have been here. SO SLOW! Often times theres only one employee with a line of 15 people and they move so slow. Its awful. Again, I only come here because its right next to the best library! read more

Sure, the USPS generally sucks as a business organization, as being customer friendly, and as being open when you need it, but this specific location isn't bad. I've been in here twice recently to mail Christmas packages, and the line was moderately long, but it moved fast. They had three "cashiers" on each of my visits, which was nice to see. The only downside is that the parking lot doesn't have tons of spots. The location is a little hard to find also, but I think that helps keep the crowds away! read more

I like that my community has been revitalized with new pedestrian walk ways, police and fire stations, library, and this post office! I love the convenience of living in La Mesa. I can walk to all these places and more. There was a long line when I went in yesterday. The line moved quickly and I was out in 10 minutes. The postal worker was fun and chatted me up while she helped me. They have a machine you can use if you know how. Then you don't have to wait in line. They also have a cool variety of collectable stamps. read more

Staff is usually pretty helpful & informative. I mail a lot of prepaid Priority Mail packages & like them to be scanned immediately, this seems like an annoyance to some staff (since I could just leave the on the counter to be scanned later). When I do leave them on the counter, it isn't scanned until later that night. I drop off between 8am (if the shoot isnt full) & 9:30am, packages scan/update between 6pm and 10pm that night. But that's why I just wait and have them scanned in front of me:) Instantly updates to my email and they're all set to go. read more

Walk in to send a couple of boxes, a balding Filipino postal worker was NO HELP, he was condescending, rude, and totally unprofessional. Was not helpful at all! And some stupid customer had to chime in to nothing he knew about. Went to self service area and got label done. I was accused of using their tape that they sell, even though I had brought my own. I tried to explain to the postal worker, but she didn't believe me and said she would have to charge me. It was obvious the tape was already used previously, it was almost empty. Worst customer service. read more

Communication horrible where im on day two of missing my package. 1st day driver lazy to come to door puts redelivery slip in box. This post office would appear to be convenient but it's not. The service is terrible here. No smiles (not even half cocked ones at attempt). The staff is generally rude and 9 times out of 10 I've always had a bad experience here. This moderate size post office does have a parking lot and has most amenities but the service is really sub-par. I realize these are government employees, but they aren't even trying to be pleasant or accommodating. I do realize that so many customers make issues for the efficiency of this post office, but still a little patience and tolerance goes along way. Any time I've had a question I couldn't find an answer on my own, the response has always been delivered rudely here. When you bring in mail you can't throw into a mailbox because of its size, or destination requiring an international slip or exact postage (usually around Christmas when you have many gifts to mail out), you immediately get a look of disgust as if you are inconveniencing their time by minimally expecting a postal worker to do their job and process mail like yours. And when you fight with kindness and a smile, you get more attitude and flack here. The last time we came with our xmas gifts to mail off here, there was two others in line, 2 employees and nothing but attitude. It's a good thing I live near a better post office, because this post office is my absolute last resort. read more

There is an employee at this post office that seems to think that she can take up a parking space for 9 hours a day while she is inside working. There are a limited number of parking spots directly behind the post office where customers can park. We end up parking further down in a parking lot where the city employees park, or park in the commercial unloading zone right behind the post office. There are a lot of older people in La Mesa and going to the post office is difficult because they cannot park close enough using their walkers, wheel chairs, crutches, etc. She drives a BMW sedan and also a old red ford ranger truck and takes up the spot right next to the handicapped space at the west end. This time of year is extremely busy as it is and someone needs to educate the post office employees about hogging a parking space for 9 hours each day. read more
