I don't understand why I can never get through when I call the Kailua Post Office it's either busy or it rings on end till it automatically hangs itself up and this has happened on multiple occasions and forget going in to the the location there's either a long line or a rude lady waiting for you read more

As post offices go this place has awesome friendly customer service, even when the line up is out the door. I've never had an issue at this post office, as a worker, they do awesome job and smile, that's a rarity these days. Well done! read more

The post office is still the post office. This one is still meh, except for the Hawaiian/Phillipino guy and "Glen Miyashiro" who speaks in the clearest, most articulate English I've ever heard. You know, the guy who thanks you for having everything ready and tells you how wonderful you are. He's the shining star of this place. The ladies have total attitude and are snobby and short with everyone. Hunnay, you work here to inform us! Get rid of that bitchy smirk! Sorry for the vent. Service goes fast so no complaints there and boxes and packaging is always fully stocked. Lines are insane at Christmas which I suspect is like that everywhere. Get in, give one of them a smile and get on with you day! read more

Yes, this is a post office. It has all the usual accouterments: PO boxes, lines, etc. The thing that makes the Kailua PO stand out is the service. So great! Dennis is ALWAYS smiling and friendly - no matter how endless the line is or how long the day has been. If the line begins to get a bit long, the assistant post master will usually pop out and travel up and down the line, helping people with forms and making sure they have everything ready. The staff is nice, the guy that works all the way to the right will compliment you on a successful transaction and always makes me laugh. If you need a P.O. Box and they tell you that it could be a long way, don't be discouraged. They told me it could be a month, and then I got a call the next day saying one was available. Overall, decent for a USPS. Parking can be tough when it is busy, but Target is right next door with tons of spots if you need it. Be careful exiting out of the lot with lots of pedestrian/bicycle/car traffic. read more

Service has gotten better. I'm sad to see that the post office now opens at 9 and the pick-up window opens at 8:45. This is inconvenient as I have to be at work on the other side of the island by 9 and don't get back to Kailua until after they are closed. I now have to rely on redelivery of missed packages since nobody can go pick them up in the middle of the day. read more

This is the 4th time I have mailed a package/thick envelope and it has gone missing. It says right on the tracking it has never left the building, but they can't look into it or do anything helpful other than say "I don't know". Oh wait, yes they can, the last time I asked, the guy actually said to me, "I can't help you, I can only sell stamps." Odd, since the machine down the hall can do more than just sell me stamps, but ok. Dennis is literally the only person in there with a personality and has heard of customer service. But as pleasant and courteous as he is, it's like every time he opens his mouth and the customer is pleased, somehow it makes the surrounding staff more irritable and grouchy and the less they seem to be able to speak audibly or politely thru their gritted teeth. So what are you left with? A ridiculously long line up to stand in (after wasting enough time just trying to get parking), only to get to the front of the counter and do the mental math "OMG don't let me get her....or him....aw, come on....all this time and I can't get Dennis?!" Only to be given ONE option for a mailing that has plenty other less expensive options, and then after all that....it goes missing anyway. Use the machine at the other end of the building if you can...then drop your package off in Kaneohe. read more

UPDATE: changing my review because the first time ever, we had a new mailman deliver our packages and magically 2 disappeared but were marked delivered. We were physically handed our mail and didn't receive two large packages. The mailman was new and actually ended up delivering our neighbors box to us, worth over $3000 inside. When I went to the post office to figure out where my mail was, the supervisor claims they can pinpoint exactly where they delivered the package to and that she knew what type of package it was in. If anyone knows what adult converse look like and how heavy they are and how big the boxes are, they would know 2 pairs CANNOT fit in a mailbox. The supervisor claimed they're in a padded flat rate envelope. WRONG. Even without the box, they wouldn't fit - I'm very experienced in packaging as I run my own business. To get rid of me she claimed they'd look into it and call me. Nope, not a single call. They don't care as long as the mailman scans it delivered, they've done their job. Old review: I'm a regular visitor to the post office. Owning a small business requires regular drop offs. Most mornings when I arrive to drop off packages in the bin, the same man opens up the door and brings out the bin so I don't have to do it one at a time. Such awesome service! read more

Larry G. I would like to take this time to say what a pleasure it is that the Kailua Postal Clerks and Management do that little extra to make your visit GREAT. I sent a box to my Son in Aurora Co. The postal clerks returned the box, which was for Christmas, because the mail box did not have his name on it. It fell off. Lived their 3 years.?? The manager Joy at the Kailua Post office re-mailed the box (No Cost). The Box was mailed and Joy called me to let me know, She tracked it and also followed up with a call to make sure the box had arrived. This I say is exceptional service by Kailua Post Office and also their Management. Way to go KAILUA Postal !!!!!!~ read more

When I go to the Post Office, I have GREAT service. However, I have a new mailman, and he's the reason for the 2 stars - I've had to sort my own mail - he puts our neighbor's mail in our mailbox - had to leave a note in the mailbox who NOT to put mail in there for (there's already a note in there stating who is OK to put mail in for). I just looked at my tracking - shows that my package "was delivered in or at the mailbox." I had checked the mailbox earlier (passed by the mailman - on my way home - in my lane, to my mailbox) and there was NO package in there. Very disappointed in my new mailman. read more

Just left this post office mad as hell. First of all I came here yesterday, seen that there were boxes on the side so I started packing it with snacks not knowing that the flat rate boxes were on the other side. Stood in line and went up to the lady named "Shirley", she looked at me weird and just started saying "what are you doing you have so much things going on right now". Telling me because I had 2 boxes and the green slip and I filled out this other slip. She basically talked down to me and made me feel like I was stupid!!!!! Yeah obviously I haven't shipped anything before. So she tells me that I don't have a flat rate box and it's supposed to look like that, pointing to this lady behind me. The whole time I'm standing there I'm out of words. Like you could say it in a nicer way and not make me look dumb in a room full of people. Anyways I took the flat rate boxes home and decided to bring it back the next day, which was today! So I come in and I have the same lady that helped me yesterday "Shirley", she tells me that one of my boxes might get returned and that the 2 ends need to touch together and just pretty much telling me that they're gonna send it back and whatever's. At this point I'm pissed off already, because their damn sign says "flat rate boxes, any weight and any size" there is nothing that says the damn flaps need to touch!!! I tell her I need a manager. The manager comes and is pretty much NO HELP, telling me that yeah it needs to touch and that I need to re-wrap it. Not being helpful at all, telling me that I need to pay extra if I want to ship it like that. The customer needs to take it out themselves and do it over again. This lady is really good on "customer service" NOT!!! Telling me I can do whatever I want to do. Pay extra and blah blah blah. Oh her name is "Chris" by the way. At this point I'm about to explode! I gave this 1 star because "Shirley" re-wrapped my package and taped it. Oh yeah btw the manager wanted me to buy my own tape and tape it myself. Going to leave this review on their survey and whatever higher up I can go because this is ridiculous. After all being said, the manager said she ain't putting no damn sign that says it has to touch, you know why? Because the customer should know already. read more

The post office cannot figure out why they cannot make money? Try over 30 people in line and only two of the five registers open. over 30 minute wait to mail something. PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE TO WASTE TIME! Two separate people directly in front of me waited in line to be told their package is being delivered and cannot be picked up even though both had a pick up slip. Both people left really upset after waiting in line for soooooo looooong. We like it quick and easy not long wait and then fill out difficult paperwork. Oh, and why are the postal workers so rude? I thought we were the customer? No wonder they are losing money. read more

Extremely unprofessional and rude. I ordered something from a website a few weeks ago and still haven't received my package yet. I was told to contact my local post office to see if they were holding it. I called 3 times (they didn't answer the first 2). When they finally answered, the woman said "hello?" First red flag. What kind of business answers the phone like that? I had to ask if it was the Kailua post office. When I inquired about my package she was extremely sarcastic and rude. I told her that the tracking site said that the package was supposed to be delivered on February 14th (it is now the 25th) and she said "well, it's on a boat. Trust me, I know." Her personality didn't get better for the rest of the conversation. I only wish I had gotten her name so I could report her to her manager. read more

The manager and Dennis are OUTSTANDING. Dennis is the picture of the ideal customer service provider, which a very rare thing at any business much less a government office. The manager has helped twice with missing deliveries and he bends over backwards to get packages out to you even if the regular carrier has already made a stop. The carriers are always friendly but don't always deliver the mail in a timely fashion. They may bundle your mail and deliver it when there is enough to stop. The parking is a MESS and needs an overhaul, but if you go at night and drop your packages in the automated teller drop then you don't have to deal with the chaos. read more

Just wanted to let everyone that the Kailua hours have changed. They open @ 9:00am and close at 4:30pm.

The two stars are only for the workers at the windows. The administration of this location is horrible! We have dropped our p.o. box fees in the mailbox numerous times only to have our box locked and they claim they never received our payment! We make a special trip, during work hours, to bring another check and low and behold . . . our first check is returned in our p.o. box. On another occasion, after we argue with them, it's "Oh, yah, we have your check." Add to that, they will place new, blank checks in the locker because it doesn't fit in our p.o. box, but they will make us come special to pick up junk mail (Midweek and magazines) that they've bundled. After having our p.o. box for over 25 years, I think it's time to stop wasting our money. I they wonder why people are not using the USPS. read more

I have basically only had bad experiences at post offices, in general. However, I called this post office to discuss an "undeliverable" package and was so pleased with the customer service. Glenn (I am almost positive that's his name) was amazing. He deserves an award for being so helpful. I hope you get a raise. You are awesome. read more
