If you choose to come here, I would show up just a few minutes before they open. The reason???? They SLOW........I ain't gonna sugar coat it! To top it off, the business hours at this branch is super short, and probably not convenient for the average customer. Sometimes I wonder why they bother to keep this post office location in Aina Haina open, after all, the Monday thru Friday business hours are from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM (so basically they are only opened for 5 hours per day during the weekday). Now here's the topper.........for the weekend - Saturday, the Aina Haina location is opened from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (open for just 2 hours on Saturday). I sometimes wonder why even bother to open at all for these very short hours? Go figure? I won't even comment on the customer service here, as you can just read the other fellow Yelpers reviews posted here. Lol! Let Bruddah Fran give you a tip! March 14th, Saturday morning, Hawaii Kai Post office closed due to power outage, so I came to Aina Haina Post office, 10:00AM, the lady who opened the door, had no response to my "Morning" greeting, she had a very unfriendly look, terrible face. I will suggest not going to this post office. read more

I'm going to buck the trend on the other reviews and say that I for the most part enjoy the service that I receive at this post office. I can't recall the woman's name that's usually on the right side of the counter, but she's always been very pleasant and helpful. There are some upgraded storage lockers that I haven't used yet but overall the location is kept clean and presentable. read more

I rated this post office two stars instead of just one because I witnessed some phenomenal customer service for the guy who was in front of me in line. I got a missed delivery notice the other day by a mail carrier claiming no one was home. I say claiming because had anyone attempted to deliver anything I would have answered since I was home all day. The notice said I had to go to the Aina Haina Post Office if I wanted to pick up the package. I could offer feedback or schedule a redelivery on their website - which by the way is terrible. I couldn't leave feedback and didn't want to reschedule so the carrier could claim I wasn't home again. I walked into the Aina Haina Post Office about an hour prior to closing. There was one guy being helped at the counter and one woman filling out forms at their side desk. Cindy, I heard postal employee give her name to the guy, spent over 15 minutes walking him step by step, all the way through the process of filling out a change of address form. I know it was over fifteen minutes because I waited in line (unacknowledged) for fifteen minutes and they were slaving over those forms when I walked in. With an hour left before closing this post office had 1 person only working. During the time I stood in line four people came in after me, two got fed up and left, and another one was entering as I finally finished and was leaving myself. When it was my turn at the counter Cindy didn't acknowledge my long wait, didn't say anything other than "how can I help you" and after that, "would you like to buy stamps". My transaction took about a minute and a half. I really dislike having to go to this pretense of a post office. Parking in the Aina Haina Shopping Center is appallingly bad and traffic getting in and out is worse. It's always over crowded so you have to circle several times before you can find a stall. The service in the post office itself is slow. Something that should only take five minutes takes three times as long. And it's apparently hit or miss if you get good service. The person behind me also got the same abbreviated service I did because he was in and out just as quickly, If the US Post Service isn't going to commit to properly staffing or managing this location they should just close it down and reroute people to Hawaii Kai or Kahala where staffing and service aren't inconsequential. read more

This location is not very convenient for me unless I happen to be heading to/from Hawaii Kai since I live in Kaimuki. BUT, I must say... the employees are friendly and if there's no line, they don't mind talking story with you for little while. This makes the overall experience nice and personal. Pets are allowed too. Parking is a hit/miss thing. Around lunch time, you'll have a more difficult time finding a stall. Just cuz there are so many peeps looking for somewhere to eat, the parking can get scarce. However, they are right next to a Starbucks so that's worth driving in a circle worth a lap or two. read more

Not sure why all the bad reviews about this place. I believe it deserves at least four star based on the convenience of their package lockers, which minimize the need to wait in line to pickup packages. Understand that their operating hours aren't the best and parking are challenging because of all the store customers use the same parking lot. They have temporarily assigned workers there from time to time, so it is understandable that a few of them may not be the most friendly type, but at least Cindy is the very best, efficient, friendly, and most helpful; great job, Cindy!! read more

You might wonder why I'd give the post office a 5 star rating....especially since I shipped a package to my daughter twice and twice it was returned to me! Arrgh! ha ha. This review is for our local post office, not the one in California....here's how it goes.... I went to the Aina Haina Post office to send a package to my daughter..the people there were great...easy parking, efficient service and even included tracking for the package....well she waited, and waited, and waited for her parcel to arrive. Yesterday, the package appeared in my mailbox! Whaaaat? I looked at the tracking number on the package and went on-line to see where the package had been...well it showed that they tried to deliver it twice, but she had moved and had not left a forwarding address....ummmm...I'm her mom, surely I'd know if she moved...so I sent her and e-mail showing the tracking info and asked her to confirm her address. Of course she had not moved and confirmed that the address I used was correct. She told me that she is getting letters at that address and send me an image of a letter she recently received. Today I went to the Kahala post office with all of this information. They were very polite and kind apologized for the mishap. They offered to re-send the package,, but at this point, I'll just wait for her to come home for Chiristmas....since the package was never delivered properly, they gave me a refund for the postage... At this time of year, the people were still really nice and patient...so Thank you US Postal Workers! I am still so amazed at how they get letters to people...well in this case someone messed up, but the local post office took care if it. read more

I live in the neighborhood, but avoid going there because of the parking situation and because of the rude Asian lady with glasses, I think that her name is Cindy. She is hot and cold, she will be nice to one person and then turn around and be rude and mean to another for no reason. She will send you home to repackage for ridiculous reasons, the flat rat box corners don't meet exactly, not enough tape for sealing etc. This has been going on for years she shouldn't take her self loathing out on others, she needs to retire. I was just scammed by the government. I know the USPS is almost bankrupt, but... Took a small package, the size of a kids bag of corn chips, and asked for 'the least expensive.' The asian woman clerk with glasses, said '1st class will be the most efficient, and charged me $3. She also kept asking if I wanted insurance, tracking, stamps, tape, packing materials, or french fries... I had another one to send the next day, and went to the self serve kiosk, and it was 90 cents. Not going to use a human clerk anymore. read more

Followed the instructions, paid the postage based on the weight the machine said and guess what...i had it returned this week saying it was in sufficient! Really...the machine weighed it not me..... Literally the worst post office. They insist on charging me almost $4 to mail a letter weighing less than an ounce, and they charge me the same to send a heavier bubble mailer. Any other location calculates the exact postage I need and charges me accordingly. Apparently Aina Haina's location thinks I need tracking on a normal letter? Never again. I utilize Yelp! as a tool to help me find out more about an establishment, but I rarely if ever post. Especially about an establishment like the Post Office. However, I feel compelled today to write a review so that others can save their time and not bother utilizing this post office. I was sending a care package to my buddy who is a US Marine and forward deployed to Australia. As a true Marine, he only wanted one thing: some Copenhagen dip. I knew that sending tobacco products by mail, even domestically, can be an issue so I made sure to read up before I headed down to the post office. The postal clerk who assisted me was rude and lacked knowledge and customer service skills. She made me fill out a customs form instead of looking up if it was necessary for where I was sending the box (it wasn't). She also rudely stated "we close in 5 minutes, fill out this form and then we'll see if we can help you." I get it, you want to leave. I don't want to stand in your way, but come on; you don't need to be so flippant especially since it's going to take me all of 2 minutes to fill out the form. When I filled out the form, declaring the contents, and got back in line, she told me "you can't send tobacco." When I challenged her and informed her that Congress and the USPS had amended a 2009 law to allow the shipment of tobacco products to deployed service members, she dismissed me and didn't bother to see if what I was saying was true. She then indignantly said "you can send it if you want, but there's no guarantee it goes anywhere." Thanks, real inspiring and helpful! I asked for the package back and left. I did more research and double and triple checking of laws and operating procedures for the USPS before heading down. 39 CFR Part 111 clearly states what you need to do to send tobacco products to service members at APO/DPO/FPO addresses. I made sure to comply with every detail of the directive, and it turned out to be largely unnecessary since the postal clerk who assisted me at the Kahala post office knew how to do her job and knew exactly how to handle my shipment. The moral of the story is just go to the Kahala or Hawaii Kai post offices if you're in East Honolulu because at least those postal clerks know what they're doing and won't waste your time. read more

Had something very important mailed to me express that I needed in order to pick up my epilepsy medication. Was supposed to arrive Thursday- was late.. I get it, covid and Hawaii. So Friday comes and I see it is out for delivery . So I purposely stay home so I can get it. No one knocks on my door. Nothing in the mail all day. So Saturday comes around, I have a seizure. No big deal. I manage to make it to this post office (that I know is my post office because I have an Aina Haina zip code) before closing and there's this woman that is working , Asian . Glasses. Name is Cindy. She asks me what I need help with & I tell her. I start to pull out the paper with my tracking number and before I can show it to her she says "well what's your zip code?" It's 96821. She says "ooh! Oh ok. I'm going to give you this number and this is the carrier you want to call." Puts the sticker on, covering myy tracking number and says have a good day. Very cold. I look up the phone number and it's Hawaii Kai post office. Naive as I am, I believe that I made the mistake on the damn area I live in. It's past closing so I go to the Hawaii Kai post office on Saturday. They get five stars. They were confused on why my package would be with them, as was I, but still spent the time looking for it everywhere. For 30 mins to be exact. Had me leave my name and number in case it showed up, but most likely was lost. Sunday goes by, as does Monday because it's a holiday. Tuesday comes by and I catch the postman to ask what office he's from and he says AINA HAINA. Furious, I go back over there and it's Cindy again. She acts like she doesn't know who I am but she knows. I tell her my issue again and that Hawaii Kai spent time looking for it. After persuading her to do so, she THEN decides to ask me details such as my name and where my package came from. It took her maybe 2 minutes to find it, I kid you not. I very nicely took my package and left to the hospital to get my medicine - 1 seizure and 5 days later than expected. Thank you Cindy for finally choosing you could help me. They are really rude... so I wanted to speak to them about the mistake of the print out. It didn't ask me for the address before printed. I wanted a VA one not NY. So I needed to wait till they are open n on top of that. I found a bundle of letter that someone forgot on the table behind the machine. I knock on the door to tell them that someone left there letter on the table. N her respond was what do u want me to do with it? She said just mail it. Idk if it really to mail or not. I was shock of her response. She asked me where I found it. I told her on the table. N she told me to put it back where I found it. I told out loud. If someone steal it. On New Year's Eve, mailed a medium-sized, USPS Priority Mail package to the MIL, who lives an hour or so away in central O'ahu, to wish her a warm and dry New Year's, since hubs & I won't be seeing her until well after the ringing in the Annus Monkeyus festivities. Just a furry, cute, but inexpensive poncho (big black and white stripes!--'cuz it's still 2016, the Year of Plaid, after all) and a light, hooded, fully-zippered windbreaker (also jet-colored...'cuz mom-in-law is conservative, stylistically). CostCo, ya know. Got a humorous scolding from the postal auntie at the counter. Don't I know that for packages weighing under 50 lbs., if you're sending locally within Hawai'i, it's cheaper and will arrive the same time frame, to send via regular postal rates, not Priority? This $12.95 Priority Mail fee would cost $6, if I were to use regular mail, she chastised. Still want to send? Unabashedly lazy, not wanting to find an appropriate box among my Xmas leavings to re-wrap the whole thing, then find parking in a busy, pre-New Year mall and its crazy traffic, I said, sheepish, Yeah, and paid the $6.95 extra. Sheesh. Been doing this kind of thing for years, relying on what I'd thought was the cheaper and quicker Priority Mail rates, to send her last-minute gifts. They get 1 star for the mailing kiosk, that's about it - if I could I'd give them a 0. They charge the highest fees for a PO Box, yet they do not utilize lockers so you must go to the window to retrieve packages and they have terrible hours (11-4 MF, 12-2 on Sat - a whopping 27 hours a week). Because of this, I have all packages sent to my office instead. If you actually have go to the window, service ranges from unfriendly to hostile. They often act like helping Customers is an inconvenience to them, and sometimes there is actual eye rolling, sighing, tongue clucking, and scolding. The only reason I go there is because it's the 2nd closest PO to my house after Hawaii Kai, which is perpetually sold out. If not for the hassle of having to change my address with everyone, I'd close this box and open one elsewhere. Until then, I guess I'll just have to put up with the inconvenience and bad service. read more
