I really like this post office located in Encinitas. I came to drop off a package and buy some stamps. Overall, the inside of the office was clean. The service machines made buying stamps. Very easy instead of Waiting in the long line. Overall, the line was still moving pretty quick. If you need to make an appointment for passports, there is a phone number at the front door that you can call. -My package ended up shipping and arriving 3 to 5 business days. I do feel that the post Office Workers, Maddie, effort to get my package towards destination in a reasonable time. read more

Tellers are friendly and nice and they have all the amenities from postal envelopes, small parcel packaging to large parcel packaging for mailing. Clean not very crowded unless you go at lunchtime. I came here to send off a package. The greatest thing I've seen was the self service kiosks. Easy to use and you can avoid the long lines. Customer service here is beyond expectations. The clerks are amazing and even received help from a letter carrier to help me with drop offs. I even asked for help on the process of the kiosk to send out my own packages, on my time. The prices are definitely worth it here versus other places like UPS and fedex. When I needed help, it was always there to help guide me through the process. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have not reflected those values. Both times, I paid for overnight express delivery with a guaranteed date and time, and both times, my important documents failed to arrive as promised. All information on the label was correct, verified, and accepted by the counter staff. The front-desk representatives have always been courteous and respectful, and I appreciate their effort. However, the repeated delivery delays suggest a breakdown in reliability further along the process -- perhaps in sorting or transport. When customers choose Express Mail, we're not just paying for speed -- we're placing trust in USPS to deliver on its commitment. Time-sensitive documents can have financial, legal, and personal consequences when delayed. That's why upholding the USPS values of accuracy, accountability, and dependable service matters so deeply. Although I still respect the professionalism of the team members at this branch, I can't risk another failed express delivery. Until I see noticeable improvements in delivery reliability, I'll be using another facility for my urgent mailings. Although this isn't the post office I get my mail from, this is the one I like coming to. There's always plenty of parking and if there are any lines inside, they do move very quickly. Outside of all the typical sending and receiving services, they have a passport section and a large P.O. Box area. The employees are always very welcoming, professional and helpful. I came in few days ago to ship a package. But as the geek in me noticed new stamps, I had to get some. The sweet lady who was helping me was very patient as she got me the stamps I wanted. I've used this Post Office for basic mail needs. Lots of drive thru drop offs. Really convenient for this. When I've needed to go inside, the team at the counter is fairly efficient and helpful. Do not ever use the post office for shipping. Guaranteed package delivery for Thursday(shipped Tuesday). Currently Saturday at 11:00 and still no delivery. This package requires a signature so one of us has been home waiting. Pay the extra money and use FED EX or UPS. If the shipper wants to use the post office as they did in my case, insist on an alternative. read more

This is not my favorite spot to send and receive snail mail. The staff that I have encountered are the embodiment of stereotypical government employees. They get paid the same no matter how well they do their job, how fast they do it, or whether they perform outstanding customer service. This office is diametrically opposed to the funky cool Leucadia post office that I love. It is a massive, sterile environment devoid of character and fun. I had to send an important document overnight and visited this location recently because it is a main postal artery and I wanted my mail to get into the stream as quickly as possible. I sense that this location is close to the distribution channel, which means my mail has one less stop on it's journey and one less place to get lost in the mail. I guess you could call this the epicenter of snail mail so when I have something urgent I sacrifice the cool factor and patronize the Encinitas office. read more

This is my main post office, and I have NEVER had bad service here. The postal workers are kind, courteous and oh so patient with everyone. I appreciate how hard it is to work at a counter all day. They do a fantastic job. I also want to thank the postal carriers who drop mail and packages at my house. They are part of our neighborhood, and often a bright spot in my day. The postal service is a gem! On February 20, 1792, President George Washington officially created the modern United States Postal Service by signing a sweeping act that promoted a free press and put privacy safeguards in place. Mail delivery and an earlier version of the Service had been in place since 1775 when Benjamin Franklin was named as the first postmaster and the Continental Congress paid him a salary of $1,000 a year. The Articles of Confederation, which preceded the Constitution, also made it clear that the government "shall also have the sole and exclusive right and power of ... establishing or regulating post offices from one State to another, throughout all the United States, and exacting such postage on the papers passing through the same as may be requisite to defray the expenses of the said office." And the Constitution made sure that these crucial services were preserved. In Article I, Section 8, the Constitution gave Congress the ability "To establish Post Offices and post Roads." That means not only does Congress have the power to create a postal system, it had the ability to acquire and control the land for the "post roads" to carry the mail and the buildings needed to maintain the system. In 1789, that meant 75 Post Offices and about 2,400 miles of post roads. But it was the Postal Act of 1792 that established the foundation of a modern Postal Service. If you enjoy waiting in long lines, this is the place for you! Some clerks are friendlier than others, and the crowd is always interesting. One customer told another customer who was coughing away, that she wasn't wearing her mask properly and "Karen" went off on her, saying that she has a medical condition, and told the other person to be quiet. My rating is based on the long lines, and average service. I don't know if clerks get some kind of credit for selling stamps, but when they offer stamps, and I don't buy any, they seem annoyed. read more

I love that this location is easy to get to and has 3 self scan kiosks so I can always get a receipt for dropping off my packages with a prepaid label anytime of the day or night. While the front office might not be open all hours, the USPS works hard all night to get packages out quickly. I've dropped off packages at 10 pm and gotten notifications that they've scanned in and started tracking an hour later. read more

In true Yelp Elite fashion I am writing a review on the US Post Office! It seems kinda weird to me but a business is a business so here it goes. The Post Office is easy to find, right near everything in Encinitas. The parking lot is large and the spaces aren't tiny, which I always appreciate. When I first walked in there was quite a bit of a line but if was moving fairly fast. An employee was helping people to use the self service machine. I figured I could have tried it but wasn't sure what it did so I continued to wait in line. This must be the case for everyone and the employees here know it. When the employee came to me to ask if I wanted her to show me how to do self service I said yes. The machines are pretty easy to use, nothing to tricky or confusing. However, if you aren't a fast reader or have any trouble with technology you should probably stick with having the employees at the counter help you. read more

Our oldest daughter filled out a Change of Address almost a year ago. Because the United States Postal Service uses only the first three letters of the first name for a Change of Address (July 2022), and since the first three letters of her name are the same as my husband's and son's, her mail is still coming here (July 2023), and their mail is going to her address. When I recently informed the Garden View post office of the situation, they stopped delivering MY mail completely. My name does not share any letters. Now, my mail is being returned to the post office (?) marked "addressee unknown". When I called the Encinitas Garden View post office to ask the location if two packages that were "out for delivery" on July 14th but returned "addressee unknown", I was told that someone would look into it and call me back (an hour ago). This is after I provided the tracking numbers. Additionally, the same post office accepted a package a couple of weeks ago which was returned for $50 additional postage. I paid shipping through eBay based on its exact weight and dimensions. I called the next day to ask for an update on shipment. The postal worker remembered the package (I brought it to the front desk, and it was marked with arrows and smiley faces). The worker said he saw the package go on a truck the previous day for delivery to its next destination and that tracking would be updated at its next stop. A few hours later, the item arrived in front of my garage with a note requiring $50 additional postage. This post office is not functioning well. read more

If I could have a favorite post office this would be it! I like that there is a lot of parking and people are pretty polite. There are three self serve stations (2 are toward the back 1 is in front) which is a good amount for the size of the place. I love that they don't only have one or two and a postal worker trying to "help" me use it. It ends up slowing me down and really is annoying. So good for them for putting their staff on the desk! Today is February 15, 2019 and it's 4:15 PM and I cannot believe that the older female postal worker employee with the bangs and the blondish brownish hair refused to give me a 4 inch piece of tape so that I could mail my package!!! After buying the postage at the self serve kiosk, I realized my small envelope wasn't taped up and she would not give me a 4 inch piece of tape!!! The younger employee who had the tape gun in her hand went to give me tape and stopped because the older one said no! Power trip much?! It's no wonder the USPS is losing shipping business. This post office is a joke. Second time I get a notification that the package couldn't be delivered, but I was sitting in my living room, no one knocked the door, or ring the bell. Came to this place and the post master is the most unhelpful person. She justifies the bad customer service from the carrier. I'm pretty sure that person didn't even brought my package to my door. I did enjoy the kiosk assistance when I dropped off my Holiday package two weeks ago 12/12. I was told it would arrive at its destination in 3 days (12-15) - yahoo! But, Covid delays I get, until I checked daily status of the package and see it didn't even leave this Encinitas location until 12/16. I bet the drivers get some feedback when packages were excepted but I know now it can be traced back to the original drop off location. I was asked to step aside so I can fill out a label, which I did. But I didn't stand at the specific counter by the line which was much lower because I had just hurt my back today. (I literally just came from the chiropractors office...which in Encinitas..is pretty understandable.) The postal worker started yelling "we have a rebellious customer" and called the manager over. To which I replied, "she's ridiculous and I'm not moving to the low counter I just injured my back." The manager said "Oh it's ok you can stand there. " And I responded with"thank you..I know I can. I think she should be working somewhere else. " Seriously what sort of nazi Germany post office is this?! A rebellious customer? For standing OUT OF THE WAY at a different spot at the counter.
