Here's the thing about old documents, like maybe some of you out there, I still had a lot left going back some 16 to 17 years. Now like a lot of people out there I have a shredder. Let's be honest though, how many of us (10 pages at a time) will actually shred such a big amount in a relatively short time? Raise your hand. (Pause). Yeah me neither. This is where neighborhood parcel comes into the picture. They are quick and efficient. If you take the drive up there my advice is to look for parking space 999( no not even making this up) as that is right in front of the building. They remembered me from a few years ago (hey I had a ton of old papers then). They are friendly as well and weigh each loose bag by the pound. Ironically I filled out and had them mail out the notarized certificate of document destruction. They will also email it to you only if you prefer. I can't tell you how much time they saved me (as I am getting to that stage in life of weighing time vs. money vs. the fact I won't do it all myself in this case). The relief of knowing that these old documents I was never going to look at again were all gone is priceless. If you've got a whole lot of documents you have been "meaning to get to" bring them here.

I've almost always used the self-service kiosk for everything, including mailing letters, buying stamps and postages, as well as mailing/shipping USPS Priority and Express packages and envelopes! Very convenient to have this kiosk here! I wish all USPS locations would have one of these kiosks.

Athena turned a routine passport visit into an ugly demonstration of how someone on a power trip…read morecan weaponize even a small amount of authority. Walk-in passport services were available from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and our family arrived shortly before noon. Athena was extraordinarily loud throughout our visit. Her voice carried across the entire post office, making every conversation and comment clearly audible. After learning that we did not have an appointment, she announced publicly that she did not know whether she would get to us. We stayed in line. Athena then repeatedly stopped working for leisurely conversations, removed her reading glasses to chat, inserted herself into another employee's transaction, discussed movies with the white family ahead of us, gave their children M&M's, and used the word "bastard" during a loud conversation with a colleague. She had ample time for everyone and everything while our family waited under the threat that she might not serve us. When we finally reached the counter with a complete and organized packet, her warmth disappeared. She barely spoke to us and did not even acknowledge our child. When a colleague told her to focus on helping us, Athena loudly replied, "They don't have anywhere to be. They've spent an hour here." She did not know where we needed to be. We had spent an hour there because she had deliberately taken her time. She appeared angry that we had remained instead of becoming discouraged and leaving. The clearest evidence came at approximately 1:10 p.m., after walk-in hours had ended. A white man in his twenties arrived without an appointment, and Athena kindly offered to help him. She did not announce that he might be turned away or attempt to embarrass him. The appointment was not the issue. The deadline was not the issue. The difference was whom Athena chose to treat with dignity. I know the hot sting of realizing that someone has judged you for nothing more than the melanin in your skin. Athena's selective hostility, deliberate obstruction, public humiliation, and dramatically different treatment of white customers communicated that message clearly. Our child witnessed it too. This was not merely poor customer service. It was a sustained exercise of petty power marked by discriminatory treatment. USPS management should investigate this incident and hold Athena accountable.

The staff in this post office are consistently rude and condescending. They interrogated me about…read morewhy I needed to send such a large package abroad given how expensive it was. This is none of their business. They don't understand that the UK does not have "provinces". It does though have counties. One time a lady at the front desk looked visibly annoyed as when I lined up she was playing Pokemon Go on her phone. She imagined that she was being paid to play video games rather than run a post office. Another time a gentleman employee did not understand how to fill out a customs form and adamantly gave the wrong information. They have mastered the art of making you feel insignificant. Over the years I have watched them play favorites telling one person that they need to stand aside while amending a form because "other people are in line" while immediately wasting a lot of time frivolously chatting with a customer about their vacation. Apparently they "knew" them. You will frequently queue up for a long time indeed. And they lack a clock so far as I can tell so you don't as easily notice. So why not give it one star? Well it is open lengthy hours - something I am deeply appreciative of. It opens at 7:30 am allowing you to take care of an urgent matter before work. It is conveniently located next to the commuter rail and close to various forms of parking. It has post office boxes and the full plethora of options from a full service branch. Sometimes they will quickly give you what you need of it simple, like a book of stamps. Indeed the best way to deal with the employees is to keep things as simple as possible. If I had better options I would go elsewhere. I wish there was a way to force government services to be less condescending and rude.
