I generally prefer to use UPS, but avoid this franchise/location. The space is small and crowded with limited options, and I don't find the owner/manager, particularly thoughtful. The anonymous response to my yelp review indicates my transaction was video and audio recorded without my knowledge. I would like a copy of this tape, because I would like the opportunity to dispute the version of the anonymous person's account. Ladies and gentlemen, would you like your Yelp review attacked without the opportunity to see the audiovisual tape taken of you without your consent or knowledge that could then possibly be cherry picked in such a way as to impugn and damage your account and important details could be omitted that bolster your case? This is big brother at its worst. UPS used to have wonderful customer care centers, but now we are stuck going to these UPS stores that can overcharge you and pack up your packages, whether you ask them to or not, in such a way as to incur needless extra costs. I went to a different UPS store in another town and got good service one day and another day I came in with two packages and the guy tried to charge me for packing the two packages into a box for which he charged me plus his future packing, even though he didn't pack the two packages into a box at the counter in my presence, nor did I ask him to. I only found out this is what he was charging me for, because the cost was so high, I asked to see what the charges were. I asked him how he could charge me for packing the two packages into a box when he didn't do this, nor did I ask him to do this. He said that it made sense to pack the two packages into a box and he was going to pack them later on. How can you get charged for something you didn't ask for and wasn't done in front of you? It has come to this. This packing packages in boxes without your requesting this service is not an isolated incident. The other clerk took my packages and measured and weighed them so fast, who knows if it was accurate, but it cost way less than what the first clerk attempted to charge me. i would quit using UPS altogether if there wasn't a rash of USPS thefts on doorsteps that rarely used to occur. Our country is not what it used to be. Corporations video record you without your consent or knowledge, and you cannot see the tape. They then are free to interpret, cherry pick, and omit important details from this tape any way they please in such a way as to impugn and hurt you, which is far worse than being charged for services you never asked for or agreed to. read more

What a beautiful find right on Great Plain in Needham. As we all know the United States Postal Service can't do everything and it's great to have UPS for deliveries packaging and all of your other needs that require exceptional service and dedication to getting your packages delivered. I've been a customer at UPS in Needham for several year several years and these guys are unbelievable. Because I have to deal with all of the zoom conference calls given my profession I usually am always riddled with anxiety going into any store because I have to then get on a conference call as I rarely have time to just take a breath. The reason I tell you this is that whenever I see a line at the UPS store I can actually breathe easy because the people that work there truly care about you and will do everything they can to help you move through the processing as fast as possible. I had a package that needed to be delivered to a school in NYC for Christmas. The return address was my daughter's apt in NYC. I had it typed out with the To and the From clearly marked and explained to the guy behind the counter that this was going to a little girl at a school with my daughter's return address. He seemed to understand but messed it up. A seven year old girl now goes without a present this year. I used Fedex while my two kids were in college - never a problem. So UPS left a package at the bottom of our long driveway instead of by our door, as we have previously requested both on their online portal and by telephone. This package unfortunately sat out in the rain overnight. When we fetched it, it was falling apart because the cardboard was soaked. But then we realized that it was not even our package. It had our name on the label, but another label directly under it addressed to someone else. When we opened it, we had no idea what it was, but clearly not for us! So, my husband drove about 20 minutes to the Needham location to do the right thing- give it to them to sort out and hopefully deliver to the person on the label below our label? Instead the person at the store was SO rude to my husband. He told my husband that he could not accept "this garbage." (Um yeah it does look like garbage because the box was completely soaked overnight thanks to the careless driver who left it at the edge of the street! My husband pointed this out to him and he retorted that they are just a franchise and have no responsibility for the driver. OK, that may be the case, but aren't they operating under the UPS umbrella? Also, why be so rude to a person who is taking his time to drive 20 minutes from home to your store to make sure someone gets the package that went to the wrong address in another state?!?! Appalling that he was treated like this. UPS can do better all the way around. We have since contacted the 800 number for UPS and they are trying to sort it out, but we will never visit the Needham location again! read more

I have been a customer of the Needham UPS Store for many years. The staff is friendly and helpful in solving my shipping needs, and much more, including print jobs, shredding, and a variety of supplies for the home office. I also have a private mail box (PMB) at the UPS Store. Since I am single and travel quite a bit, I am always confident that my mail is secure. In addition, and most importantly, packages are received at the UPS Store and stored securely until it is convenient for me to pick them up. With the advent of "Porch Pirates" and valuable packages being stolen from peoples front porches, the UPS Store provides peace of mind that my valuables are safe. read more

Always been my go-to place and my last visit will tell you why: Rushed in maniacally at 5:30 p.m. on a Monday with a bag that had been left behind and HAD to arrive in Philadelphia by the next morning. The UPS folks said that they would do what they could, but the bag had to be securely wrapped and boxed (weighed ten pounds and contained laptop/notes)) and probably couldn't arrive until Wednesday. A letter i left to the owner John - My name is -----, I have the ------- and worked next door at -------, we would bump into each other at the ------- fairly often. I had to write a note about how awesome your staff is. I restore, collect and sell vintage drums doing 99% of my business online. The drums require very odd size boxes and no stores except the UPS store actually carry them in stock. Your employees are always very friendly, fast and helpful on the phone and in person. I have gone to staples a few times as boxes are 1/3 of the price there but the employees are miserable and they usually don't have what I need. This week I tried to order 24x24x6 inch boxes from them and I was given incorrect, dishonest information by the manager about a special order and it impacted my customer service and shipping time. I am done with Staples, your employees are much more helpful and I always get what I need with less drive and less attitude. Even walking into Staples, the kid who did my return smelled like he had not showered in a week and was definitely not using deodorant. I have even been checking out and seen some difficult customers in line before me. Your employees were very patient with them and remained calm even as I was ready to bash the annoying patrons over the head. I hope you value and trust your employees as they do an excellent job, every one of them, every time. read more

Serious fail on all accounts. Expensive boxes--$2.95 for their smallest. Anyway, besides the prices... I walked in lugging 11 packages, and obviously 32 weeks pregnant. I bought the boxes I needed and decided to head to USPS instead, since their shipping prices were through the roof! Again, I lugged the packages to my car, before leaving, I told him I will be right back to pick up the purchased boxes since it all was too much for me to carry and too heavy (That's ONLY because I'm pregnant! I would easily deal with it if I weren't!). There were 4 people in the store and I was the only customer. Do you think for CUSTOMER SERVICE points he would have helped me to my car? He sat there, looking like an idiot with his arms crossed, watching me carry these things to and from the store. Like HELL I will ever be back. And yes, I AM playing the prego card here since I haven't my entire pregnancy until now! read more

Went to this store about a month ago, and was greeted by John, who was extremely friendly (jolly almost!). I had to return an online purchase. The package was a bit heavier than the label allowed for. John kindly explained to me that it would be okay if the weight was too much. They will work with you to get you a better shipping price and seem to know their stuff, especially if you need a shipping quote for ebay items which I do a lot of selling. pros: -cheap shipping on HEAVY parcels, anything less than 5 lbs should be brought to post office -cheap black and white/ color copies -knowledgeable people cons: -only one person on staff most of the time, but they are still pretty quick read more
