This is the rudest USPS I've ever been to, which is surprising for such a nice quaint area in Claremont. I do NOT recommend this place. I've been to many different USPS and have never received such rudeness. Ridiculous. Will never be back to this location even if I have to drive a further distance. Need to work on customer service. Everything you need in a post office and very reasonable wait time if any. I've used it as our only post office for almost a year now and have been impressed. Have to give a shout out for Ray: he got a bad review and here's a good one. Every time he's helped me (which has been a lot-he must work all the time!), he's been quick and very helpful. I completely agree with the earlier reviews about one of the employees. He is the most unpleasant person I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. He was so incredibly rude and condescending. I was trying to get a refund for my PO Box key and he told me to throw the keys in the trash and forget about it! I was so shocked that this man is able to keep his job. He is clearly power tripping and treats everyone like total crap. FIRE HIM PLEASE!! Edit: If anyone has been persecuted by Ray, please file a complaint with USPS so he cannot continue to bully people. I visited this post office today for the first time and I gotta say, the customer service sucked! I was able to observe the workers demeanor while standing in line and they were short with customers and very dry. The only time I noticed a difference was if the customer was someone who frequents the place. I was helped by Ray who was rude and clearly didn't want to deal with me at all. I made the mistake of trying to use my drivers license with the wrong address on it for one of my forms of I.D. and the guy goes off and says sharply, "God! nobody reads the forms! It says right here that you have to have two forms of I.D. with your CURRENT address! If you don't have that then here is a list of other things you can use!" I was so taken aback that I just looked at him. I calmly told him that I had to go back to my car to get my insurance and registration. He told me to go to a different person when I came back in and not to stand in line. I tried to stand in the line that Ray suggested and the lady told me to stand in a different line because she was going to take a long time. I stood back in line and guess who had to help me...Ray! I smiled at him and said, "hello again". He frowned and mumbled "Jesus!" I looked at him, shocked again and he looked caught like he didn't mean to say that out loud! I chose not to respond negatively. I even told him to have a nice day when he was done. It sucks that I paid for my P.O. Box online before I got there because now i'm tied to this place. This is my local post office and every time I go it's a pleasant experience never too busy and all the employees are super nice

Horrible customer service, I cannot stress that enough. Not friendly at all! The guy that works there talks down to people and does so in a loud way where everyone in line can hear. We measured our box and bought postage through paypal for USPS, we clicked the oversized package option. When we took it to the post office they would not take it saying it was too big?! Why would there be an oversized package option on the USPS website!?! The instructions were followed correctly. He said to take it back because it certainly wasn't being shipped from his post office. We already paid for our postage, so what are we supposed to do!?!?!? So absurdly rude! read more

Just plain awful service, even by post office standards. Long lines in an annoyingly cramped and uncomfortable space. They never have any priority mail stuff available so self-service with pre-paid postage is utterly impossible. They actually demand that you pay more to buy a non-usps envelope and then pay their much higher non flat-rate fee, even though you have a prepaid stamp, because THEY don't have the supplies. WTF? Rude and incredulous behavior on display every single time I come here. No matter what time or day, I somehow always want to tell them to F off. read more

The problem with this post office is the Postmaster. He is arrogant, belligerent, condescending and refuses to admit when he makes a mistake. I had my second experience with his oversized ego today and I intend to write complaint letters to everyone in government who has anything to do with funding the US Post Office. The Postmaster is a government employee, i.e.., he works for ME. You wouldn't know it by his awful attitude. Furthermore, he's not even there half the time. This is a very cute post office in my beloved town of Claremont. There is even a friendly and helpful woman who works in it. But these elements are far outweighed by the awful attitudes of the other people who work there. These are people who go out of their way to be rude to you. I imagine they have team meetings in the morning to decide how they'll ruin people's days that day. read more

Oh my gosh the staff here is lovely and so welcoming! They are conveniently located on the corner, but you have to park on the street because the back parking lot is for employees only. Also, four stores down is a UPS store if you have packages that have to be sent out through both like I had. Beware of pedestrians and cyclists when you are driving in the area because they come out of NO WHERE and literally run the road. I will be back when I have to send out more packages at work. read more

I'm not sure why this post office is getting such bad reviews. I love this post office. Virginia is my favorite and she is the kindest, most helpful and patient person. I've never had a bad experience here. If anything, I've always been so surprised and happy at how marvelous everyone here is. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PREPAID MAIL HERE!! I dropped off three packages that were prepaid for Two-Day Priority mail on January 14. They were not even processed until January 16th. So they sat in a bin or on the floor for two days before sorting them. I started prepaying because customer service here was flat out BAD! Now I will avoid this place like the plague! Go to La Verne. Its the worsted post office ever. Been there a few time to buy a stamps and i pacifically ask them to mailed out my letters on the same day and the letters never got to where it supposed to be sent. It's happened more than a few times. The people that work there are so rude and never smile or they shouldn't work there if they are not happy or want to be there! read more

Went in here to return an item I purchased online for my daughter. The item had its own packaging. I stood in line and waiting for the one employee to help me. She had an attitude from the start and treated me as if I was a child myself. I asked her how I would go about sending the package and she told me she "wasn't my consultant". She had me step out of line till "I felt I was ready for her to do her job". When I figured it all out on my own, I got back in line. She told me she was charging me for the one staple I needed and one slice of tape. Do yourself a favor Claremont Post Office, work on your employees customer service. read more

My one star rating is not referring to the service. It is adequate, sometimes you get someone friendly with a smile and sometimes ya don't. The one star rating is for the actual post sorting/delivery/management of mail service in the Claremont/Pomona area. There has been a few mishaps with my mail for years and I am finally writing about it. In the past, a few pcs. of mail has not just gotten lost but never arrived, esp checks and payments (hmmm) but it happens to everyone so I didn't make a big deal. However in 2013 I changed my home mailing address to my PO Box address (both Claremont addresses) and for one year I never got my mail. It is still missing til this day. I was living in another state at the time. I've investigated this back in 2013 and was told that Pomona was to blame, I called Pomona and they said Claremont gets the mail. They are to blame...ya ya. Okay. Well, today (2015) my bank card didn't work in the ATM machine and I walk into the bank to find out what happened. My account was closed due to my not using my new hi tech cards (What???) they were mailed to me 2 1/2 months ago. All 4 cards for two accounts never arrived. All four mailed in plain envelopes, all separated from the other. On top of that, I just bought a new home in San Diego and was awaiting an old tax document that was supposed to arrive 4 days ago for escrow to close. It is currently MIA. I just return from downtown LA offices with my copy of this needed document so there is no hold up in escrow. I can't depend on the postal service here for anything important. Oh, well. Just thought I would post my 8 years of experience here. read more

Very rude customer service. The female African American postal worker shut the doors on me as I was walking up the stairs. The time was 4:58 pm. Did not realize the new 5 is 4:58. I asked her if I could pick up my mail as it was not yet 5 she told me NO. I told her I just came from La Verne post office but they told me mail was in Claremont. She didn't care said no was not nice about it just rude. The frustrating part was I had driven to la Verne due to the certified mail slip informing that I had certified mail at post office listed La Verne on the form on top of Claremont address. Postal worker could have circled the address for me to pick up so I would not have to drive to 2 post offices. Now I understand why individuals utilize paying bills on line and refusing to go to post office. Rude and unorganized. I left work early to pick up mail. The post office can keep my mail and send back. I will inform the mailer and all individuals to use FED-EX. read more

Located in the downtown "village" area of Claremont just south of the library, this quaint post office evokes small town America. Built during the Great Depression as a WPA (Works Progress Administration) project it's architecture is in the Spanish Colonial Revival style with a wonderful interior mural by Claremont resident and internationally renown artist Milford Zornes. Commissioned by the Treasury Relief Art Project (Public Arts Program), Zornes 1938 mural depicts Pomona Valley life and graces 57' of the upper walls of the lobby. The Claremont post office is limited to counter services, stamp machines, and post office box customers--Claremont's carriers are stationed at the neighboring City of La Verne's post office. I've been a p. o. box customer at the Claremont Post Office for 30 years and in the past worked as the mailroom supervisor for one of the Claremont colleges. I've had a lot of interaction and experience with this post office. Overall, it's an excellent post office. Usually, 1 to 3 clerks actively serve customers at the counter and most are very friendly and helpful. Lines vary from a couple of people to almost out the lobby door. As might be expected, lines are longest during lunch hour, near closing time, and during Christmas holiday. They're shortest in summer when most of the Claremont college students are away. Nearby parking, like most places in the Village is sometimes difficult to find. Contrary to other comments, there are drive-up/drop-off mailboxes in the alley behind the post office. A few postal annexes are located in businesses throughout Claremont as alternatives to going to the Claremont U. S. Post Office. read more

This place is pretty bad. I pulled up to park and one of the deliverers was unloading her truck. She had it parked in such a way that she completely blocked the parking lot. I was very clearly trying to get in and she didn't even give me a passing glance. No, "one second sir," or "there's no space in this lot, sir," or "excuse me, it will just be another moment." No, "Let me move my car since it's awkwardly angled to block anyone and everyone with no consideration whatsoever to other people." I was shocked to be ignored so rudely. She finally (after taking her good ole time) finished up and moved. I had a flier telling me I needed to come in to pick up my package. So when I got to the window inside, I asked if there is anyway I could just get redelivery next time instead of having to come in personally. First he said he didn't know, then he just said no, they don't do redeliveries. So I paid and was on my way. So now to confess my own stupidity... it says right on the back of the card (that I didn't bother to look at, my fault), how you can get your item redelivered. Either he is really that uninformed that he doesn't know how redelivery works, or he intentionally lied. Neither gives me confidence in this place. After reading the other comments, it all rings true. I will never go to this post-office by choice. It's the first time I've had to go in the six years I've lived in Claremont. I'm hoping it's the last. read more
