I just left the UPS Store here in Claremont, and I feel genuinely disappointed with the level of customer service I received. I was assisted by a staff member named Alejandra. While I completely understand that she's not being paid extra to go above and beyond but really your job is to push buttons and scan a barcode at a place of business designed to ship and receive packages? I made a very simple and reasonable request: I asked if she could help me lift a small package. I had already brought the item into the store using a cart, and it was positioned directly in front of the counter. I wasn't asking her to carry it across the store or do any strenuous lifting...just a quick hand to place it on the scale. Her response was, "I can't lift it, we're under medical orders." This was surprising to hear from two visibly young, able-bodied employees. It felt more like an excuse than a genuine restriction, especially when the task was so minimal. What was most disheartening wasn't just the refusal to help--it was the attitude. I wasn't asking for special treatment because I'm a woman. I was simply hoping for basic human decency as someone clearly about to give birth. The general demeanor I encountered felt dismissive, almost like "I'm not getting paid to do more than the bare minimum." It's not the first time I've experienced this at this location either. Even walking in with a box, struggling with the door while pushing a cart, no one offers to assist or even acknowledges the effort. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that at a UPS shipping and packaging center, there would be someone available to assist with taking a package. That's the entire purpose of such a business. I didn't bring in something heavy, and I wasn't asking anyone to carry it across the store. I was literally already at the weighing scale and just needed help placing the item on it. The associate, Alejandra, said she couldn't help because she was under "medical orders" not to lift anything. While I can respect that some employees may have restrictions, it honestly begs the question: why would someone who can't lift even a light package or open a door for a customer be placed in a front-facing role at a shipping facility? If there are genuine limitations, shouldn't that be addressed through proper staffing or at least disclosed clearly? Maybe there should be a notice that says: If you need help lifting or handing off a package, please bring assistance. We're not permitted to touch any packages. That way, I could plan accordingly--because as someone who is 39 weeks pregnant, it's not safe or fair to assume I should do everything solo, especially at a location that advertises assistance with shipping and packaging. My expectations aren't outlandish. I expected basic, reasonable help in handing off a return. If that can't be provided, customers deserve to know up front so we can make alternate arrangements. This experience just doesn't align with what a "shipping service" should be. read more

I've never left a review before but feel compelled to do so in this case. The "manager" of this particular UPS store was the one who helped me but I don't really know if she was actually the "manager" because she lied to me from the first question that I asked. I told her that I was there to pick up a package and gave her my name and ID and she told me that there wasn't a package with that name on it. I then proceeded to show her on my iPad that the confirmation that the package was delivered there less than 2 hours before and was an overnight delivery. She still told me that there wasn't a package that was received under my name. I showed the confirmation again with the tracking number on it and she again told me that there wasn't a delivery of that package and suggested that I check CVS which apparently had a UPS drop off. It wasn't until I was about to leave the store that she asked me what the tracking number was again and that there was a customer by my same name that had a "UPS box" there and had a package delivered there this morning. She then checked the tracking number again on the package that she "ASSUMED" belonged to the customer that had a "UPS box" there and found that it was in fact MY PACKAGE. By this time, I had already spent 15 minutes in the store. MY PACKAGE contained thousands of dollars of merchandise which couldn't be replaced. I'm sure there is a video that would corroborate all of this but I'm sure it is deleted by now. So if this employee was actually the "manager", I can see how the previous review from Dr. A is right on point. This is a poorly managed UPS store and if I was the owner, I would have this "manager" fired. Why did she lie about not having a package in my name? And to top it all off, she called me after I complained to the main UPS number and told me that she was the "manager" and continued to lie about what happened. What was even worse is that she said that the person who had the same name as me-had their name hyphenated-the package doesn't have the hyphenated name. Two things to take away from this incident: 1) DO NOT USE THIS UPS STORE TO RECEIVE PACKAGES 2) IF YOU DO, DON'T BE SURPRISED IF YOU GET LIED TO. read more

I came in here with the Amazon return. I was meant by David, he is the epitome of customer service. I did not have a envelope to put this item for a return. He managed to find one without charge. This envelope was from another customer as a return that he kept just in case a customer needed. This level of customer service is beyond expected. Got there at 6:10pm to return Spectrum equipment last week. Mind you, they close at 6:30pm. The same man who gave me a hard time for returning Amazon items during Christmas came to the counter. He tells me he can't do my transaction because he already did end of day. I responded, but you close at 6:30pm and nowhere does it state there is a cut-off...this is such a disappointment. He said, well I can try and I said I don't want to waste more time. I quickly drove another 3 miles to the next UPS store. And guess what, they took it and it was minutes to closing. I asked the associate if they already did their end of day and she said yes, but they are still expected to take the equipment and send it the next day!!! Needless to say, that man at the first location was just being lazy and was counting the minutes to close up instead of going the extra mile for his customer. And they must deal with totally imbecilic Karens who can't be bothered to read instructions, bring correct paperwork, etc. And especially during the holiday season! This UPS store was a lot different then most. They were actually redoing it when I went there and the manager and the staff were super friendly and also very funny. They have just about anything you could possibly ask for including PO boxes, faxes, scanning, notary services, and all kinds of miscellaneous Post Office and mailing things that you would need. Look at the photographs the store has up on yelp, you will see a stack of boxes and a roll of plastic bubble wrap packing material on top of them. Remember that as I share my experience today. This store is an Amazon drop off point. I had a item that I was returning to Amazon that was in its original packaging but not in a shipping box. Amazon had told me that I did not need the original shipping box. The clerk scanned my SKU and she said this needs to be in a packing box. I attempted to explain why it did not need to be in a box. She said without packing box Amazon could end up charging you for The product anyways. OK I said how much is a Box? The young lady said it'll be $10. And I said $10 for a small box? I said that seems a bit pricey, everywhere else sells this size box for $3 to 5. The owner of the store jumped into the conversation His tone was a little aggressive and he said I'll take over and she basically was dismissed. He then repeated exactly what she said Word for Word. But he added well if you don't like our prices you can always go elsewhere. I fell silent which is what I do when I'm getting irritated with poor customer service. I got on the phone with Amazon customer service and I was explaining to them the situation. The owner came over and interrupted my phone conversation with the Amazon representative saying excuse me "I am the owner of the store and this is what's going on " jumping in to give his defensive side of the story. The representative was in the process of explaining to me that all that needed to happen was that the Amazon representative needed to change the SKU to allow them to take the box without it being in a shipping box. If you are a business that is responsible for receiving Amazon goods and getting paid for the job, wouldn't you know that? What really upset me was as this was playing out , I looked over and I saw that stack of boxes I mentioned earlier. There was a large sign on that stack that said three boxes for $12! So they were trying to sell me one box for $10. They actually had same size box that I would need on sale for three boxes for $12! They even have a photo of these boxes I'm talking about right here on their yelp review page. When I pointed that out to my friend who was with me. Suddenly the owner jumped in and said well we could sell you one of those boxes. I wasn't about to pay for a box at this point . Amazon had straightened out the situation I flipped my phone around and said let's just scan the SKU so that I can give you this box and leave. So the young lady scans SKU it worked they took the return I got my receipt and I left, never to return to the store again. As a fairly new store in a fairly new shopping mall I would think that an honor would be doing everything possible to earn my business not to alienate a new customer. This situation could have easily been resolved. The owner Could have simply come over and said to me why don't we call Amazon and get you the correct SKU so that we can take this box from you. Because I didn't need to buy a shipping box from you sir all I needed was the correct SKU from Amazon so that I could hand you the return item as is. read more

I ship packages daily and have been thoroughly and consistently satisfied with this location. All of the staff are friendly, professional, efficient, and helpful. The store is clean, organized, and well lit. It's in a nice shopping center, so I can combine grocery shopping and coffee in one trip. I will sometimes drive past other UPS stores that are more conveniently located on my route just to use this one. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I have used this UPS store since it opened. They have consistently been courteous and helpful. I have visited many UPS stores over the years--- This one is the BEST by far. It is really a locally owned business. Jim and is staff always have solutions to issues I have with returning items or sending presents. They give advice on the cheapest way to send and/or the fastest way. I think it is charming and thoughtful that Jim often asks me if I am sending more handmade baby gifts to family members. I gave my package to an older gentleman who refused to provide a receipt for my drop off. The recipient never received the package and the tracking shows it never left their facility. I called more than 5 times to inquire about the package and the owner was extremely rude. He said I should have a receipt since I dropped it there but i was refused one when I dropped the package. I stopped by to request more information and the staff told me rudely they could not help. I am now out an iPhone. I hope the staff were able to get good use out of my phone. read more

Update 7-27-2021- I have the correct location, nice try trying to deceive yelp visitors by throwing blame on another location. This place started off being a good place to go but now seems they want to charge for every little thing. $1.25 for a SINGLE envelope. $3.00 for taping a UPS box shut. I used to go here for all my needs but don't recommend anyone go here anymore. They just got on my nerves by charging my pregnant wife $3 to print a UPS label. That is completely unacceptable. It is a UPS label- at a UPS store. To charge for this, not 1,2, but 3 dollars is highway robbery. You have LOST 3 families from doing business with this location. Avoid this place like the plague, they will nickel and dime you to death and then act like it was your problem. The owner sits in the corner and watches all the employees to make sure they don't miss an opportunity to charge you for something. read more

Was looking on Yelp for passport photos and chose this UPS Store because of the reviews. Was a bit early but the door was unlocked. We were greeted by Jim (aka Jimmy). What a nice guy. He let us in early and did a passport photo shoot like no other. Haha. The pics weren't so great, but that's not his fault. He could only do so much with what he had to work with. This ups store was so awesome and the employees were extremely helpful. I was struggling to find decently priced shipping to send my boyfriend a deployment care package. With the frustration from going to fed ex first, coming here second, they were able to Find me the best price and the fastest shipping and even repacked my boxes for me into one. Lesson learned.
