Great service. You get in and out quickly. When standing in line, you get additional help from one of their employees. So, if all you want are stamps or drop off something You are taking care faster. Lines move very quickly when they are busy. They are very friendly too. read more

I'm beyond upset at the fact that I signed the slip that allows a representative to pick up my documents and the post office won't give it to the person I specified. I'm unable to pick up my mail that requires a signature because I work during the day and by the time I get off the post office is closed. The staff had the audacity to tell the person picking up my mail to get my ID and bring it with him so that they can turn it over. WTF?! Because I don't need it to drive to work right? My boyfriend and I went here to renew our passport. He is a citizen and I am a legal resident. We confirmed with them twice to see they can do mine and the lady on the phone said yes both times. We set up an appt. First of all, I thought we were going to an office to talk about it (because the lady on the phone said it will take 30 minutes). However this guy name RICARDO, who works in the front desk, called us, "passport renewal?" while looking everywhere when we were already in front of him and was already told by her coworker that we were there. Take note: had all our information out on the desk, place was packed and it only took us 3 minutes. We were being patient and nice because we wanted to get it over with. He saw that my passport wasn't made from the US, but he did not give us a straight answer that they couldn't do it. My bf said, "we called and the lady said if we could provide information that she's a legal resident then it is possible. So you really think we can't do it?" And this is Ricardo's reply, " Well I can just take your money and send it." We didnt know he was being sarcastic until I asked, " how long will it take?" He said, "Oh, its gonna take forever!" So I grabbed all my stuff and put it all back in the folder cuz I was done talking with that 40 year old looking guy who talkin like a little boy. Seriously, Ricardo?? One of your coworker gave us false information. Can't you even apologize on her behalf?! Just because we are Asian and we look young that doesn't mean you have the right to talk to us in a way u did! How unprofessional! I even took the day off so I can do my passport ..but it was just a waste of time! Oh the best part, Ricardo went crying to his supervisor. This post office has repeatedly not delivered any packages. 3 out of 5 packages were not delivered. When I complained, I was yelled at for getting upset that they ruined Christmas for me several times overs. I guess I shouldn't rely on them for delivery. I later found out the packages never left the office, they never even attempted to deliver it, they just returned the packages without even trying delivery. Avoid them if you can. People have had their utilities turned off because they can't get mail delivered. No wonder they are going out of business. read more

the postmaster lady was nice enough and would periodically take the people who just needed stamps or wanted to mail a letter within the US out of line for express service. the other guys at the counter were indifferent and unfriendly for being so earlier in the morning. I made an appointment to get my passport for 10:30AM. I showed up at 10:15 and waited in line to speak with a clerk. 10:20 I was told no one was available until my appointment time. That was fine, I waited in the corner for 10 more minutes. no one came for me and had to wait in line again to speak with the same fat balding jerk (he had serious unprovoked attitude.) He then tells me that I have to get out of line and fill out the renewal form or whatever. I do that and then have to wait back in line to turn it in. 11AM I pay my fees and the same guy shuts his counter down and takes me in back to take my photo. seriously, we couldn't have just done this at 10:30? after a few photos, a veiled slur about the chinkiness of my eyes when I smiled, and $115 later, I was out of there. He confiscated my old passport and quickly locked the door behind me. I assume my passport's in the mail. read more

No matter what time I have gone this post office always has a crazy long line. Also the displays that hold the shipping envelopes and boxes have been empty of shipping envelopes EVERY SINGLE TIME I have needed on. That means standing in the long, slow moving line, instead of just printing my label at the self service kiosk. The employees are always friendly however, but I would rather they just stock the envelopes and let me be on my way. Oh how I miss my Roseville Post office! read more

This place is terrible! I went on vacation for 2 weeks and I requested my mail to be held in the post office and delivered when I get back. When I came back, I found out from my apartment manager that the delivery guy was still delivering mail to my tiny mailbox. Apparently, he didn't receive the request? Not sure. To make matters worse, when I tried to pick up any mail I had from the post office, they told me it was all returned to the senders! What a bunch of BS! Why have the service to hold mail when your on vacation when all it'll do is screw up your mail service? Geez. The front desk guy, Ricardo (?) was no help either. He was a bit rude too. I've been to this post office several times. Ricardo doesn't care about anyone or anything. The last time I was there, I needed help getting a package and in the middle of a question for him to answer, he looked at the next person in line and said "Next". New to town, new to Yelp and new to the Carmichael Post Office. Hate for my first review to have to be a 1-star. If I'd known about Yelp before I wouldn't have made this mistake in the first place. Having come from a city where the 24 hour lobby was a place you could trust, I threw my money down with faith and purchased a year's worth of service at the only 24 hour PO lobby in Carmichael. Pros: 1. The doors ARE open 24 hours. (For now) Cons: 1. After lobby hours, during the cold months, you'll be sharing (and smelling) space with the folks living in the far corner where the "too large for your box" postal boxes used to be. As far as I can smell they only drink, eat and smoke there. 2. The oversize mail boxes are still there but the postal workers don't put parcels in those boxes and slip a key into your personal box like they used to where I lived before. I assume that's due to the people who live in the lobby during the cold months. Or any month of the year, since I've observed break-ins during the hot months too. 3. If you work during the day, good luck getting an oversized package at any time since the lobby is only open for business between 10 am and 5 pm. Even fewer hours than most people spend in a workday (for instance mine, which is 9 - 6, and add an additional half hour before and after for commuting.) In other words, if you order a package that doesn't fit in an 8x10 envelope and you have a mailbox at this PO you probably won't be able to get it unless you quit your job. 4. They take their phone off the hook. Busy signal alllllllll day. You couldn't make a direct complaint to the postmaster if you tried. 5. If you do happen to make it into the lobby during the hot months, remember those ARE the hot months and this Post Office doesn't use their air conditioning. That means cranky postal workers and cranky customers. 6. They are obviously severely understaffed. The government's way of saying "you'd be better off using carrier pigeon services". I'm training some right now. read more

Just had to put in a good word for an employee at the Carmichael branch of the US Post Office. Lawrence Robinson has been personable, polite and super helpful on numerous occasions when I needed to go in and get my mail. Always smiling and positive, Lawrence went out of his way to help me out; opening the mail department a little early to accommodate me and I saw him helping other customers with carrying their mail and boxes to their cars. Lawrence is full of enthusiasm and good humor - smiling and laughing and making the "post office experience" easy and good. It's so nice to see a young employee with such good manners - he's a gem and I wish him luck in his future endeavors! read more

This post office used to be a model of efficiency..... over the past year it has really gone down hill. Maybe they got a new post master?? Window clerks (usually only 2 even on the busiest days) are rude and indifferent. The line is usually out the door and into the lobby. Clerks have no sense of urgency and seem to take their time doing most tasks. I have been going to this post office for more than 20 years and they have hit the bottom in my opinion. Gave this one star because I could not give minus stars. For YEARS we've used the self "checkout" machine to mail Christmas cds----a cd in a padded 6x9 envelope, shipped as a Large Envelope. This year one was returned for additional postage. When I went to the post office to find out why, first I was told that it didn't fit through the mail slot, it was too thick. But then she pushed it though the mail slot and it fit but she said "Oh this is broken." Questioned her and she called a supervisor who said if it doesn't bend in half it's not an envelope but a "package." WTF!!! We have mailed these like this for years without any problem but suddenly told an envelope isn't an envelope but a package because they want extra postage. The "supervisor" then proceeded to call me a thief saying I had stolen postage by mailing them like that in the past and it was a good think I had finally be "caught." He then told me that "UPS is right down the street" and I should take my business there. All righty then, I certainly will NOT be going back to this post office and will try to avoid all of them, whenever possible, in the future. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Since I lived in Carmichael 5 years I've had packages from retail stores stollen 5 times. It never got to my mailbox basically and the only way to ensure that what ever I ordered did get to my mail box was to do priority shipping. Very important documents regarding citizenship never made it to my mail box either. A bunch of low life scum bags work in the Carmichael post office. Ghetto ass losers! The most recent missing mail was my Mac Pro card that you actually need to use with my ID, your not gona get s**** with out MY ID! read more

Horrible customer service it takes forever to get someone on the phone and are absolutely no help when you're finally able to talk to someone.... I had a package that was supposed to be delivered to my house, it said it was delivered but it was not it had got sent back to sender my name and address was correct by the way, and when I had called to see what happened and why it happened all the guy said was he didn't know why.... and after trying so hard to talk to someone to help me that is the answer I received " I don't know why" and that was it didn't do anything else to help me that @$$ needs to find another job and let someone else who actually wants to work do his job because all he is is a waist of time read more

On i regular the mail man will put are mail in other mail boxes and vice versa we will get mail for other people. Some times they forget to shut the mail boxes after ther done delivering the mail. I mean isnt that there most important thing a mail man should no? Not to leave all 54 mail boxes open have had droble with mail desapering. And at times I have very important mail that has to be reseved and responded to in a timely fashion. And as of lately since we have a security gate and some mail men seem to no the code and others do not for today as a matter of fact a very important package is to be relieved and I got a notification this morning at 8:30 am saying package is to be delivered to today well I guess it must be one of the mail men that do not have the code... Feed up any ideas on what to do to resolve this issue. I have tryed contacting the post office several times cant ever get through i mean your mail is federal.. Leaving mail boxes to where anyone in the complex and grab anyone's mail seems like it should be a crime train you postal workers to do at least the simplest things like getting the mail in the right boxes closing the mailboxes when you're done delivering being able to get in our gate code which is been the same for 4 months it's ridiculous if a citizen was to grab somebody else's mail it's a felony it should be a felony for the mailman to continuously leave our mailboxes open to where anybody can help themselves to our very important mail at times I would give it a zero star but I can't very very disappointed read more
