I mean, it is a post office after all. Sometimes the clientele are a little bit entitled. It's Boulder (shrug). I have seen people arguing with the very helpful clerks. The clerks are well trained and demonstrate an astonishing degree of patience. On a recent visit, I was queuing up and someone said she was in line. Although they were clearly not. We did not receive our tracked mail delivery specified to be delivered on Saturday, 1/25. THEN We did not receive ANY mail delivery on 1/27. I am not able to get through to the phone, they do not answer the phone... the only way to reach the Valmont Postmaster is to go directly to this location and wait in line, only to be told the mgr is not there. Why are we not getting our mail? Our mailbox is intact and the weather was snowy but not unpassable by any means. We have had this post office as our primary office.... for more than 20 years and it needs a Higher up leader to visit and set them up for functiong effectively. read more

Staffed with only 1 person on a Monday morning who left the front desk for over 10 minutes with more than a dozen people in line. I use this post office to ship off items for my business very often. Everyone here is very nice. The woman that works here either does not wear a mask or wears it on her chin which is pointless. There is also no AC or enough cooling fans which is probably miserable for the workers. I feel bad that they have to be there all day. I only use this massive post office occasionally because it is far from me. But since it is the major transport hub for Boulder, I use it if I think a half day savings will get a special mailing somewhere in a more timely manner. The lines can be very long during any holiday period or the day after a Monday close but that is true at all 3 Boulder locations. The save here is that they have the best parking of any of the three. The staff is usually friendly and helpful and can suggest the most efficient and cost effective way to move something across the country. read more

Let's face it. Everyone hates the post office. So, as far as post offices go, this one is wonderful. When I visited today all three employees were smiling and happy to help their customers. Dana is the absolute best. My mail was sent to the wrong address (not USPS's fault, but the website through which I ordered) and she was so willing to help me try to track it down and brainstorm other options to get it. I was grumpy walking in (because, hey, the ring I ordered is MIA), but Dana's warm and friendly attitude turned my day around. This post office and their service is deplorable. Not only has my business requested that they do not drop off packages on weekends (since we are open Monday-Friday, from 9-5 PM), but THEY CONTINUE TO DO SO. They say they "contract out" carriers on Sundays and these carriers don't know everything.. Well, here is a clue. If you see a business that DOES NOT have a receptacle to accept packages on weekends, DO NOT LEAVE A PACKAGE OUTSIDE. When was this ever acceptable to do? Why would you ever leave something at a closed business on a weekend? Now they are saying there's nothing they can really do since it was left there and says "delivered" on the tracking. Idiots can never do the jobs they are paid to do. read more

Here's a clue from me to you: Do not go to this post office during the last hour or so before closing time. The workers here are generally in a very bad mood during this time, no doubt due to the pressure involved in their jobs, which I do understand....or at least I think I do. For years I have been going to this post office; it is close to my house and convenient on my weekday trajectory. It is open later than the other post offices in town, and that is helpful for someone I know who I help bring packages to mail for. I am invariably pleasant to the people here, the packages I bring are pre-posted and all ready to go. If the main part of the post office is closed, I simply use the self service chute in the lobby. A few days ago, the self service chute was blocked by big boxes on the receiving side so I simply needed to ask one of the postal workers to please move the boxes that were blocking the self service chute. A fellow who works at this post office opened the door to let someone out of the closed area. I politely tried to ask him if he would please ask someone to move the big boxes blocking the self service area. He responded in an abusive and unpleasant manner. Another woman was there in the lobby and she spoke up in my defense...stating that I simply wanted for him to make the self service chute usable. He was defensive about the post office being closed. I tried to explain that I totally respected that, but just wanted to mail my packages. It was such a debacle and so absolutely unneccessary on his part to go on and on being unpleasant, rude, and abusive to me. He just kept it up. It was more than I could handle, and despite my efforts to restrain my emotional reaction, I cried. Then he yelled at me about that...saying "Now, why are you crying?" I was able to reply quietly that I just wanted to be able to mail my packages. Finally he went back inside the customer service area of the post office. It was a traumatic experience, which completely took me by surprise. It was very wrong. Like they often say....you can't fight city hall, and of course the federal government is even more daunting than city hall. The average citizen simply has no recourse when it comes to self-advocacy in the wake of abusive mistreatment by an entity such as the USPS. Alas. So I suppose I've just got to mind my Ps and Qs and behave myself because this post office is where this person who I help with business mailings wants me to go. :o( read more

If anyone has a small business and ships out packages with prepaid shipping labels, don't ever come here to drop it off in the parcel box. This happened to me TWICE. The first time it took it here- it had taken 4 days for them to scan my package, actually it wasn't even scanned here. Then the other day I dropped another one to see if it would happen again and yep it did! Still hasn't been scanned. Tried calling and nobody answered. I will NEVER come here. I absolutely hate dealing with this post office. The service is slow and they make no effort to look like they are trying to move quickly when there is a long line. Last time I was there they had a single person plodding along at one workstation and you could hear everybody laughing in the back on break, apparently. One person then emerged to say that he could help anyone who just needed to mail a package or letter. So I came over and started to help me until I said "I need insurance" then he said "oh, I can't do insurance at this station" and sent me back in line. I did finally mail the package and insured it, but they didn't give me a tracking number and the package got lost. It's just miserable being there. read more

I have had a P.O. Box at this location; they loose about half of the packages from Amazon. The person in the office said that they receive a giant bag with a bunch of packages, and somebody sign for all of them, and it takes them a while to go through it, and sort it, and to deliver packages to P.O. Boxes. I expected to receive a package on Tuesday. Today is Friday, and I have been to the Post office twice already, and they do not know where the package is. The person at the office said that they need to get a tracking number, or she cannot help me. So I will need to go there for the third time, and see if they can find my package with a tracking number. Also the employees are really mean. Whenever I get pictures, they cramp it into a P.O. Box, and damage the pictures. The pictures cost me $50. Nobody is responsible for anything. I told them: "it says on the package here DO NOT BEND. Don't you see?" They told me, that their employees are not required to be able to read. Seriously, they gave insults instead of apologies. Unless you do not want to receive your mail and get harassed instead, go ahead and get a P.O. Box there. Also hours are inconvenient. They close at 5:30, so that you can't get there after work. The location is inconvenient. It is not possible to reach any person via phone. Instead, you get a robot that sends you to a website, and the website says that the package is delivered, even if it is not. Do yourself and community a favor, and do not have any business with this office. This business needs to close down, and get replaced by a healthier business with employees that like their jobs. read more

But not as efficient as the SWISS railroads. Their trains arrive EARLY. Anyway, they do seem to be able to handle a high volume of customers here, as opposed to the downtown branch, where half the tellers always manage to go on break right before the rush. Waited half an hour the other day on a 5 person line. Don't get me started. But anyway, the Valmont location is expecially superfine if you're driving in east Boulder. The parking lot is huge - "easy in, easy out" as we used to say on the East Coast. Do people really still collect stamps? Wow. God bless 'em. read more

It's a post office! I like sending post! And it's part of our postal system, which we need to keep around - unlike Canada where it's falling apart. So, I give it 5 stars. I admit, it only deserves 4, but a post office isn't earning it's rent if there isn't a line of people at the counter trying to use the post office. :/ Pros at this location: lots of parking, among roads which aren't horribly congested. Cons: There's always a line! Bring a book if you're going to need to stand in line. My personal use for this PO - I drop off stuff which I already have postage on. I use the APS machine - I would rather use the human at the counter, but don't want to stand in line for half an hour! Even the APS often has a line of 3+ people. APS machine is the automated machine where you can buy postage for your envelope or package. There's a nice drive-thru drop off in the parking lot if you're on your bike (or in your car). read more

Generally I love the US Post Office service and have been satisfied with my service here in Boulder . However twice now I have had an issue which is frustrating . The sender omitted to include the apartment number of our unit , the street address is otherwise perfect . The carrier can clearly see our name on the mail box at our address mail boxes, but he has twice returned our mail to sender causing me inconvenience . Is it asking too much to have the mail man trouble himself to check the name and leave the mail in the right box here ? When I mentioned this to the mailman , he said he remembered returning my package , yet he repeats this . Have we really reached the age of unhelpful and un-resourceful service ? This post office used to never have lines but unfortunately they had to cut staff and now it takes forever. I had to mail out a bunch of packages and figured I'd wait until around 10:00 on a Wednesday morning. The line shouldn't be that bad right? Wrong! Even during an off-time there was a pretty long line because they only had 2 people working when they needed more. That being said the staff makes due and is still really nice considering they are probably over worked. This post office is large and does have a lot of space. Parking is much easier than the downtown location and if you are shipping large packages you can usually park pretty close to the door or get a cart. This used to be my preferred location because of the short lines, unfortunately now it is just a run of the mill post office. read more

They are not always great about giving refunds but in general the post office tellers are great especially a woman named Melissa who is always in a good mood and there are others whose names I can't remember who are also always polite and happy. I never think there is too long a wait time except around the holidays which is to be understood. I've seen fellow patrons be pretty rude and the tellers keep their calm. read more

This post office is as efficient as the German Railroads. Everything is always on time, staff is helpful, friendly, and professional. This location has great Business Hours, Mon-Fri 8:00-6:30pm , Sat 9:30-2:30pm , & closed Sunday. They have a box, envelope, etc. for every USPS service, a good selection of stamps for a you philatelists, and very short queues. read more

Line out the door; three staff, visiting with a friend for 7 minutes after business concluded. 29 minutes to hand a 13+ once package with postage to a real person. The problem with this place is nobody cares about their jobs. It seems to be Colorado thing as I haven't ever experienced this before moving here and it has been at 3 different post offices! There is one man that is pleasant and efficient. When he is there he will help twice as many people as the other one or two people there. My most recent, and worst experience so far, was when I had to go pick up a letter that was certified (which, as usual, my mailman didn't leave a letter about in my mailbox) and the woman at the desk started yelling at me that it wasn't her fault and she wouldn't be able to find the letter without the slip. Surprise! She found it when I refused to leave without it. I told her she was lazy and she said it's not her fault. And you wonder why the post office is going out of business... read more

There is no imitative here or anyone actually trying to have some simple customer service skills. AVOID this dismal place, they are obviously going out of business and it is pointless to associate with them. I went here to open a mailbox for my small business. Simple, right? Should have taken 15 minutes start to finish... Following an infuriating conversation with a rude and condescending employee who had an indecipherable, thick foreign accent to boot, I have decided I don't need to waste even a small amount of money per month at this dying (for good reason!) institution. USPS has gone completely belly-up. Just use UPS or FedEx for your shipping needs. At least those companies are run like proper businesses, and much more effectively than USPS. WELCOME TO THE TIME WARP. Longest lines ever, slowest service ever. These people act like they took sleeping pills before their shift. This place is so bad that I've witnessed fights break out in line because people get impatient and finally snap. It's truly unbelievable. Expect a 30-40 minute wait for 4-6 people in line. If the line is to the door, DON'T WAIT. You will be there all day. Fire these people and replace them. Good riddance!!! read more

I recently mailed a package overseas. It was a gift for my father and I completed the customs declaration form online, printed it off and took it with me. The counter clerk processed everything, attached the form to my package, entered stuff into his computer, charged me a boatload of money and then a week later the package came back to me because there was a problem with the bar codes on the form! Apparently the employee had utterly failed to notice this when he taped the form to my package. I went back to the post office, talked with a manager who also didn't know what the problem was but said I'd have to pay for another shipment AND then claim a refund. You can't claim online for a refund because you need a specific form which the post office did not give me and was also not on the website. I was given an 800-number which was utterly useless! Turns out the "international" claims is an entirely different 800-number. Then you have go through three different options to get to someone who also can't help because apparently this refund is "at the discretion of the post office branch" so now I have to go back to them to request my refund. Gods forbid I get hold of someone on the phone because the line is 100% busy (are they just taking the phone off the hook?) This package has now cost me $47 to ship - THREE times what I paid for gift inside. It would be so wonderful if the people working at this HUGE post office actually knew what they were doing! And if someone actually responds to this review I'll faint with shock. read more

All the personnel I've dealt with there are very nice, and this isn't necessarily a reflection on them. But unless you want to set aside 45 to 90 minutes waiting in line forget this place any time after 1100 in the morning. The amount of people who come to this post office to pick up a package being held, or change their addresses really bogs down the minimum number personnel that are available. If you need to mail something out, at all costs avoid get there early, or go somewhere else. read more
