I have not been to this Post Office in years. A relative on the east coast had sent us a box of books, multiple copies fresh of the press that he had written. Not only did the box not get to us, we were sent the labels from the box and they looked like they had been cut off the box with a neat box cutter swipe. Not a stain, not a crease, just the flaps with the labels in perfect condition. It came in a clear plastic bag, the size of a business envelope with an apology from the P.O and a website to get directions for claims. I tried that and discovered the sender needed to do it with proof of value of the contents. So we took pictures of the package and sent via email. He did that much at his end. Today, we got a letter from the USPS offices, asking us to bring the actual remainder of the box to our PO for inspection. We took the little clear plastic envelop to the office we use near our home. The staff there, usually very helpful, refused as our zip is different than theirs so we went to the main city PO which has the same zip as ours. It's downtown on a busy street so we used the nearest parking garage and walked from there on a hot day. The line there is notoriously slow and it was as usual today. The one staff working, midday on a weekday, did not know what to do with it. So he left the counter unattended while he went for help. The apparent manager took over and was incredulous that was all we got. So he took it from us, and said he'd send it for processing and when a determination of cause was made, we would be notified BY MAIL! Believe me, I will do nothing else. The sender had receipt, he's entitled to recourse for insured value and forcing us to use the most inconvenient office to process is ridiculous. The first office could have and should been allowed to do the same thing with the papers. The main PO wasn't even apologetic in any way. The only staff member in a place with 6 windows for service, did not even know how to do it himself and left everyone waiting while getting a manager. read more

Beyond frustrated. I had shipped a very old, one of a kind handmade Navajo rug through ebay. The item was sent July 28th. According to tracking, a delivery attempt occurred August 1st. About a week later, tracking was still saying the same thing. Attempted delivery August 1st. I contacted the buyer to see if there were any issues with delivery. He said package was delivered Aug 1st. It was left on the ground next to the mailbox and this has been an ongoing issue for him. Due to the cost of this package, a signature was REQUIRED. I paid for this service with the label. Yet, one wasnt collected. Tracking is still in limbo saying attempted delivery Aug 1st. The issue now is that my funds are on hold because this wasnt scanned correctly. I called Aug 13th to see if they could manually scan the item. The supervisor said she could and would do so. It was never done. I called Aug 18 to ask the same thing. Still, nothing has changed. My funds will remain on hold until who knows when because this post office cannot do what should be done correctly the first time. Or second. Or third read more

USPS said this has a 24 hour self service kiosk but all the doors were locked when we got there after hour

I quite love this Post Office! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing - it also has a staff of friendly and patient clerks. There are P.O. boxes you can access around the clock, a great card selection, automated machine to purchase stamps or purchase package labels, lots of fancy and festive padded envelopes, a drop off for Santa's Letters and more! With it being the holiday season the line has been a little wild (yesterday it was literally out the door). I do not fault the fine folks of the USPS at all. They are patient, helpful, and so kind to those that walk up to their counter totally unprepared - which describes quite a few people yesterday. While it can be cumbersome to walk your packages in to this location (if you live near downtown) I often find it a much more enjoyable experience than visiting the sister location on Valmont (lots of grumpy patrons out that way - which can be amusing to witness if you are in the right mood). The Valmont USPS parking lot can often feel like a demolition derby - not to mention turning left onto Valmont when you leave can be near impossible at times. I'll gladly wait in line any day to peruse and purchase the latest coolest forever stamp book! read more

This Post Office has always been easy. Easy to use, easy to find, and the employees are easy to talk too. Never really a line, even when there is, its been only like one or two people. I like the architecture of this building. It was built to be the central focus of the Downtown Boulder area. When I enter this building and look around, I can get a sense of the history of what it must have been like back around the time when it was first built. You cant get that in a new modern building. Tried calling several times during business hours wondering why a tracked packaged is sitting in their facility, not being delivered. No one answering at the main line at 303-938-3704, alt. customer service number 720-988-1400. Both continually ring until it goes busy. Trying to get a hold of anybody to simply ask a quick important question, find out update on a package with anyone available during business hours is useless. On their defense...most likely due to being under-staffed, too busy during work hours to pick up phone dealing with customers during business hours at the post office. Realistically one has to drive there to get issue resolved, or call main 1-800 number to file claim, wait for process from there. read more

Have you ever tried calling this post office during normal working hours in hopes of speaking with a person? I have tried numerous times and it just rings and rings and rings... and then you're hung up on. Count me as someone who understands why the USPS has lost a ton of business to other delivery methods. Frustrating! BTW - we've been coming here since 1979 and there are 2 or 3 employees that are special, outstanding, and we're very friendly with. They are great and caring. I believe that whatever demon haunted the psyche of Franz Kafka infiltrated this Post Office.* Every experience I have had at this post office has seemed like an intentional conspiracy. From every other package being damaged, to their refusal to deliver packages when they weigh more than 20 pounds, to waiting 30 minutes minimum in line to mail something or pick up packages, to the hell of insurance claims when they destroy your stuff, I learned my lesson and do not do any business with this post office. I drive to Superior if I absolutely have no alternative to USPS, or I don't use USPS at all. Got there on time for a passport appointment, there was no one at the passport office and was apparently getting his "drawer checked". The clerk came back to the passport desk with 2 mins remaining in our appointment time. At that point I had to leave back to work, I asked to get a new appointment but instead the clerk told me to go online and book another one... great stuff... no appointments open for weeks. read more

This is one of the worst post offices I have ever been to. Don and Troy, are two grumpy old men who act as though they are the know all be all of all things postal. Today that was not the case, they did not know how to ship items the Way a woman who works there does. They both tried to charge me twice as much. And they were rude and refused me service, when I told them they didn't know how to do it, and to ship it their way. Which isn't surprising that they were upset with a woman telling them they were doing something wrong. They were rude and truly did not know what good customer service is. It is completely pointless to write a bad review (or any review) of a post office, because, I mean, what's going to happen, they're going to be scared of going out of business? Not. However, if anyone's here checking out post office reviews before deciding where to go to mail their packages, here's some advice: don't choose this one. I had a package that usps.com stated was delivered to me, but it never was. I was sent jumping through hoops trying to locate it. I had the tracking number and everything, but all I was eventually told was, 'all I can tell you is it says it was delivered, so I'm thinking it was delivered.' Oh really? Thanks, man. You saying it was delivered totally suddenly made my package appear in my hands! No apology was forthcoming - they simply would not admit they lost the package. I would have been all right with it had they just said "we're really sorry, but we just can't locate it". Their setup is confusing - the express and priority boxes are lined up by the entrance so it seems like those are the only boxes they have. The normal boxes (as I found out after I had packed my stuff into a priority mail box) are hidden in a corner facing the postal workers, out of sight of the customers until AFTER they're gone through the line. Oh, if you want to tape up a box, you better buy a whole entire roll of tape from them, because there's no free tape at the, um, post office! read more

I've had really good experiences with the downtown post office, which is definitely not what I expected from prior post office experiences. The lines here move fairly quickly which is definitely nice when they're super long. I think that partially this is because there are a decent number of tellers and partially because those tellers really know how to efficiently help you mail your product. That or when I'm not looking they're flashing people with one of those things from Men in Black that makes you forget everything and walk away. ... or maybe they ate the people and then flashed me?? ... maybe this is just all a dream. Or maybe this really is the best post office I've been to! One particular experience sticks with me over my last several at this location. I was mailing a DVD for the first time (ebay n00b) and when I walked up to the counter with the smallest Priority Express box the teller looked at me with something like pity and said "Is that all you're mailing?" "Yes," I said. "Is this the right box? I couldn't find anything smaller... should I use something else?" I practically started blubbering because I had no idea what I was doing and there was a long line behind me. "I think you should use a small bubble wrap envelope - it's not out there and we have to order our own. Let me go back and grab one for you. In the meantime you fill out this address sticker" which I at that point realized was totally obvious and I'd totally failed to do "and when you're done just come right back and I'll help you next." From that point until when I was happily on my way out (tracking number included) was probably 5 minutes. DURING LUNCH. Excepting the possibility that this was all some crazy dream (or the result of the aforementioned MiB flashy-thingy) I have to say that was, dare I say it, a FANTASTIC post office experience. Whatever they're doing for training and employee satisfaction here I have to think it's good, because while I've never quite had the level of service of that first time, every visit has been consistently quick and pleasant. As far as Post Offices go, this one is OK, the staff is friendly and helpful and they usually have the new stamps that I want. However, it is almost ALWAYS crowded, with a line of six people or more. Maybe I'm just going at the wrong times, but every time I have been there after 10am, there has been a line that lasted about 20 minutes. Otherwise, pretty standard. read more

An issue for our building is that the USPS leave pkg in front of the building on the walkway rather than at the door of the recipient. Packages are very frequently torn open, items scattered and some purchases are stolen. When asking for help/ investigation from the PO they say they can not help unless they are provided a VIDEO of the theft. If we knew who was doing this , we would not need an investigation. So the US mail is not safe. Asking the bldg. for video camera installation has been fruitless. The PO investigation./complaint line really seemed not to think it was a very big deal. Yet the US mail was at one time almost sacred if interfered with by a person it was not addressed to by the sender. The only offered solution was to insist on a signature for delivery but since most work 9-5, this is not possible. The USPS would do well to investigate these thefts and vandalism as retail sales are now so common. The Boulder Police Dept did try to help but not the post office. I am grateful to the Boulder Officer Cast who did take a vandalized pkg to check for prints. He was very helpful and concerned. The Post Office, not so much. read more

If there is one place in Boulder where the staff never forgets to take their happy pills, it's here. I love all the nice middle-aged postmen that work in this office. Every time I have gone in to ship something, they have always been kind and incredibly helpful. I just wish there was a parking lot here but there is usually street parking in front. I'm used to the kind of postoffice where you wait forever and tell them what you want quick- and better get it right the first time. Not here. They are always providing you with answers to your questions and they want to help you with whatever you need. Sometimes there's a short wait but when it's your turn you're in good hands. I had a package sent to my office (address verified over and over) via UPS, which was then transferred to USPS for final delivery. It was out for delivery according to the UPS tracking system during a time-frame that I was at the office, delivery should have been no problem. The package was not only not delivered, and no note left to pick it up at the post office, but it was returned to sender as undeliverable due to incorrect address. We get mail delivered to this office EVERY DAY! I verified the address numerous times, what the hell is going on? Why didn't I get a call on the number listed on the order? Why was this returned to sender instead of held at the post office for pickup? I wish I knew the name of the guy who helped me out-- he deserves a Post Office Worker Award of the Year! As an tourist I'm used to getting mediocre service (especially since a lot of Colorado seems to resent tourists in general) but when I walked into the USPS building in Boulder to mail a couple postcards and a book I couldn't have asked for better service. The man at the counter helped me get the right mailing envelope for the book, helped me find the cheapest way to ship it to my friend, and over-all had a really nice attitude about a task that usually stresses me out back home. I live in a housing complex nearby & was already frustrated when my packages weren't being delivered. When I called to see what was going on, they said that there were too many packages going to my housing complex for them to deliver (aren't you a delivery service??). THEN when I asked if I could come pick my package up they told me "no, there's too much stuff & we don't want to look through it to find your package" Wtf?! Then proceeded to tell me "if the stuff isn't picked up soon, we're sending it back." Unhelpful & rude. I would give a negative rating if I could! read more

Wow! Went back in after my tracking number didnt seem to work, clerk went out of her way to search for my package and find the tracking information! Then I went in with another package and forgot the suite number and again, they found my package and helped me correct it! Also, their flat rate boxes are AMAZING! My textbook was amost 7 lbs and it shipped for only 13 dollars. I got a little extra shipping to cover my textbook which was reasonable at $2.75 for $100 coverage. Sure the line is a little long and it's pay for park outside, it is totally worth it for the price and the service. I have a return label , prepaid, and left it outside our bldg. by the mail box as instructed. It sat there for many days. The trouble is in trying to call the USPS to alert them of the issue. The national no. is a phone tree without the choices needed and the local no is not picked up. The vce mail tells you to leave a no. and they will call back. So even with a prepaid label, I cant get the package picked up. Will alert the media if they do call me back. Sorry I have no helpful answer to this issue but if you are able to try to avoid companies that use the post office for returns is my only suggestion. read more

I went in to get my package as the USPS does not deliver parcels to my area. I made the mistake of saying "mailman" instead of "letter-carrier." I legitimately do not understand hypersensitivity to words like that. Yes I am a woman and yes I consider myself a feminist. Still the female clerk decided to berate and belittle me for ten minutes before allowing me to leave with my package. Rude, obnoxious, cruel behaviour that is absolutely unwarranted. Part of any customer service job is overcoming your individual preferences in order to provide the best service. I wish she had been working for tips, instead of to the tune of $53k/year.
