I sell stuff on line- not tons, but enough, and over the years have spent much time in post offices in two cities and this branch is the best. The people are unfailingly helpful, trying to save you money and just friendly and nice. Also, if you pick your time right there is little or no line. People love to hate the PO and some branches are pretty bad, but it's still a great service at a fair price. read more

This is seriously the worst post office I have ever been to or have had to deal with. I work at an e-commerce fashion company and we ship hundreds of packages a day so i'm very familiar with how all of the postal companies operate. USPS is by far the biggest hassle of them all. I moved to South Austin less than 2 months ago and I have already had at least 5 missing packages from the post office. When we went for the first time to get our mail key, it took them 30 minutes to find it. Last week, I received a signature delivery slip in my mail box so the next morning I drove to the post office to pick it up. After waiting in line, I then had to wait another 20 minutes for them to look for the package, which they could not find. I ended up going home and luckily they were able to locate the package and deliver it to me the next day. After we noticed that we have had about 5 packages that were not delivered, we called the post office and they said that the next day, they would have the carrier check all the boxes. The next morning, we have 7 packages delivered to our door! SERIOUSLY. Were they just sitting in someone else's boxes? I have no idea how that happened or why they weren't delivered originally. And now, I still have another unsolved issue. I received a signature request form at my door last Thursday. I thought that the post office didn't deliver them to our door, and only to the mail box. So when I heard the door bell, I walked downstairs (literally 15 seconds) and found the form. I don't understand why they couldn't just wait for me to come sign it? My car was in the driveway. Anyways, I returned the slip to the post office and now over a week later, that package has still NOT been delivered. I have called the post office 20 times in the last 2 days and they have not answered. It's really frustrating at this point, considering that i'm 6 months pregnant and a lot of the packages are gifts from friends and family. I just can't bring myself to actually go to the post office again because I don't feel like wasting another hour of my day. If in any case, you can use UPS or FedEX instead, I strongly advise you to do so! read more

Every time I have gone in for the past three months I have received top notch help from super nice and courteous people. They apologize for "long" waits even when they're not long, provide useful information and they do not rush through, even when the pressure is on (as it was during the holidays). I remain a fan of the classic USPS. Thanks y'all! read more

Over the years I have done business with many different post offices in Texas. The mockingbird station in Austin is head and shoulders above all others! They are fast efficient and courteous kind and always apologize for your long wait in line even if you were the first person to get there! Yes the automated postal machine gets messed up and that's not the fault of that station. Yes the drawer that drops the package is in gets jammed but again I've seen people shove boxes in there that should never of been put in there so it's not the employees fault the box gets jammed. They're very good about putting signs on things to help you understand what's going on like use your knuckle to press the APC machine instead of the fingertip because it works better. They don't have to do that! Other post offices do not! I love these guys and I know that some people come to the post office just to stand in line and complain to everybody else about how awful everything is. But that's their problem not the problem at the post office. Some people just want the opportunity to piss and moan and complain about the world. Unfortunately they think it's appropriate to do that at the post office. This one is extraordinary! All post office it should be modeled on this one. read more

Zero stars. I went yesterday to pick up a package that never delivered to my house, USPS told me it was at this post office because there was an issue with my address. I get there and wait over 2 hours in line and finally it was my turn and the lady didn't even write down my tracking number when I gave it to her, I wait 15 minutes and finally comes back and asks for it. I wait another 20 minutes and finally comes back and tells me that my package was sent back to the seller. I told her that was impossible because USPS told me I could pick it up here and it wouldn't be shipped out until the address was confirmed. I left after 2 hours and called USPS AGAIN just for them to tell me it was still there. I even contacted the seller and they had absolutely no knowledge of the package being sent back to them because it wasn't. I decided to keep trying and this morning got there right before they opened, when it was my turn I told the guy my situation and that the package had to be here, he took my information and went to look. Came back after 25 minutes with my package. The fact that they lied and said the package was sent back is just ridiculous. Their job is to manage these packages and the mail that comes to them, and they're giving out false information without doing their research. Who knows if they even looked for it at all. It was there the entire time, and now I can't take back the two hours I spent yesterday waiting for it. This is their job. Why aren't they doing it?? I checked Yelp before going this morning and saw that everyone had something bad to say about the customer service and professionalism at this post office. I understand making a mistake, but this has happened with so many people, not just me. I hope I never have to deal with this again. read more

Ever since I moved to the area a year ago, I have been so grateful for the service of these humble people who provide me service, no matter what the need, or direct me to where I need to go, no matter what mood I am in on the other side of the counter. They are all very patient, whether the place is full or empty! Thank God they know most of us by first name or face, and talk to us! I am not an old folk, but a folk that is grateful for the service of an organization that has given their utmost and is being rightsized by folk who don't care about anyone on either side of the counter. They are indeed some of the sweetest postal employees, I have ever recieved service from. Thank you!!!!! read more

I needed to speak with someone at this post office and was not able to get to the location... so I called... and called... and called... and, you get it, called. I've now called over a dozen times throughout the day and they either pick up then hang up or let it ring until a beep noise answers. So unbelievably frustrating! :( read more

This location is great and the staff here are absolutely wonderful--I cannot say enough great things about them! The lady at the front is SO Helpful and always willing to go out of her way to help you! Also, all the attendants I have worked with have been extremely nice friendly and HELPFUL. Great customer service, ALWAYS. Yes, it is can get busy and the lines can get long but that's not their fault. They do their best to get everyone taken care of in a timely manner!! EVERYBODY has sh*t they need to mail out so people need to slow the fu*k down and let them do their job and wait patiently like everyone else. I wish I could give no stars. This post office is the worst. Every time I have dealt with them it's been an inconvenience. They have a phone, that they hardly ever answer. Picking up a package is always a big ordeal. The staff is very rude and will tell you anything to get you out of the building. Most recently, yesterday, I went to pick a package that the slip clearly stated pick today after 3pm, I got there at 5:15 pm. The elderly man couldn't find my package and said I should come back tomorrow. Told him this package was vitally important and needed for tomorrow am, hence the paying for over night delivery. He tells me to come early and knock on the window/half door and someone will answer and give me my package. Wrong. After knocking for 5 minutes, I decided to call... A lady answered and asked me to hold. 10 minutes later on hold and still knocking, nothing. It's obvious by previous rating this place has not cared about customer service in a long time. I hat that because of where I live I have to deal with this place and these people. You all are horrible and should not have a job that involves customer service. read more

It's too bad that I'm just having to agree with all the other negative reviews about this post office. Whenever I'm there it just seems like the employees are of the "I don't want to be here and I'm mad because of it" school of customer service. The desk people are, for the most part, lackluster at best. I think I've had one congenial person help me there in the 4 years I've been going. The rest have either been non-caring, blah, or just plain mean. Today I arrived at about 8:20 to pick up whatever I had behind the counter (they don't bother to fill out the form used to notify me - it's just a card with my box number on it). There was a line of 11 people waiting when I got there. The sign says they open at 8:30, and you would think they'd open at 8:30. Nope. 8:30 came and went...then 8:35...and then with no action going on behind the louvered door, I left at about 8:38 when one of my line-mates mentioned the fact that even when they do open the door, we'll all have to stand there while the clerk gets his/her station ready. I've been through a lot of training at my job on how to serve your clients, and the Post Office has apparently never been thru ANY of that training. Imagine....just imagine how we ALL would've felt if they'd opened the door at 8:27, smiled and invited us in! Would've changed the attitude of the entire line. Had we only known that just down the street, in Manchaca, there's the GREATEST post office, with people that smile and help and seem to be glad to serve. I recommend that you go there if at all possible. They're open earlier (they close earlier, too, though), and they're always nice...there. Not here. I have to agree with the review of Jim L. It's 1973 all over again here, with methodical employees and grey tile. Meh. read more

EVERY visit here is agonizing. Today's special spark to comment is that the door for mail pickup is closed. But there isn't a sign on the door. So far 2 people have waited twice at the door, and other people in line have instructed them not to wait in a separate line. We just got our passports done at this location today. For a "not fun" task, the process couldn't have gone better! We made an appointment online for 11:15, and they were on time. Eli was the gentleman helping us with our passports, and he was very kind, patient and informative. My husband and I both recommend going here to get your passports! Keep up the good work, Eli! They should start sending people here to punish them. I certainly felt punished when I left. Everyone who works the counters moves as if through Jello. There are no signs where they need signs and 2 signs for passports, which apply to maybe 2 people a day. I mentioned to the guy helping me that a sign at the package pick-up line would be really helpful for the people coming to pick up a package and he proceeded to tell me how that wouldn't work. They don't always have someone to work the package line. Yes, I see...CLEARLY, it's an UNSOLVABLE PROBLEM. Places like this make me feel trapped and cranky. read more

Post office states that the package was delivered by door or front porch. Not sure how that can be because the address is an apartment complex. Was told by the USPS 800 number that the package is at the post office. I have called all day and can't get anyone to answer the phone to ask questions. This package was suppose to be for Christmas. Can't believe that no one will answer the phone. Going forward I would suggest using FEDEX or UPS. read more

This post office wouldn't redeliver a package unless I filled out the form saying for them to do that. What baffles my mind is that they were going to my house again the next day anyways to deliver the next days mail but still expect me to know to make a special trip up there. This post office has saved my butt a number of times. I've had to head over there for a last minute mailing: 6pm cut off on weekdays, open Sat 9-11am, and the mail station/machine is open 24 hours. Only been to the counter once, nothing to rant or rave about. read more

I was shocked by how quick and easy my trip to the post office was. I walked in, I was greeted by a speedy lady, just gliding around from customer to customer. She was great, got me to the supplies I needed and into the line to be helped further. I was in line for under 5 minutes and was out the door. I'm use to the South Congress location which is totally miserable and a huge time suck. This was awesome, my only post office going forward! read more

Major props to the USPS at this location today! I've been here multiple times and usually look forward to it like I would a colonoscopy without anesthesia, but thanks to Mr. Edgar Moreno, four employees were behind the counters, service was speedy, there were smiles on faces and people are moving in and out of here at an astounding rate today! I got help with my packages and even some excess packing material for shipping. Worst post office ever. Lines out the door both on the weekend and at non-peak times on week days. Over the weekend, I waited 20 minutes in a line out the door and the line never moved. I had to leave and come back on a weekday. When I returned on a weekday, it was no less crowded and the line did not move faster. I spoke with one postal worker who told me to call back in two days after 1pm to resolve my issue. I called and called and either received a busy signal or no answer at all. This has to be one of the worst postal offices i have ever been too. They are usually under-staffed. Lines are always long. I am force to pick up my packages from post off every time even if it's from target. They refuse to leave my packages at my door. I just really hate this post office. It's a headache coming here. WORST POST OFFICE EVER!!! If I could give zero stars I would. I am usually not such a hot headed person but Andre and Frank were so incredibly rude and absolutely REFUSED to give me my mail that I took a picture of their faces and threatened to post it on social media if they didn't turn it over. Half the residents in my apartment complex didn't receive mail for three weeks because the lock to the box was broken (which apparently in this case, the post office had to fix themselves) but a work order was never placed. When I tried to call (several times a day over several days) guess what? Nobody answered. Ever. Not once. I had to leave work early one day to go to the post office to pick up my mail but they refused to walk to the back and give it to me because "it hadn't been sorted yet." Thankfully I talked to my post man the previous day who said he brings the mail (sorted) everyday but because the post office still didn't send someone out to fix the lock on our mailbox the post man hasr to bundle up all the mail and return it to the post office. It's been about a month since this issue was finally resolved and now I'm trying to deal with them once again due to a priority mail package never being delivered. Why would you have a phone number to call if the employees don't answer the phone, place you on hold immediately without saying anything, or just pick up the phone and hang it back up. It's worse than trying to win tickets from a radio station. I've tried calling this location on several different occasions and can't ever seem to get through to anyone. Since they are already picking up the phone to hang it up they could at least say to call back later, but no, they just hang up. They should put on their webpage that all communication has to be done in person and take off the phone number since no one answers it. It's infuriating! read more

I live in Charlottesville, Virginia. I sent an express mail package to my daughter but misprinted one of the digits. When it didn't get delivered as expected, I called this location which would have delivered it. Although when I hung up, I had the impression that the package had been returned, whomever answered the phone found it, called my daughter, straightened out the delivery address and got it to her. So my impression is that something was done out of the ordinary by an employee that cared. By the "rules" I made the error, but my suggestion as to what phone numbers on the ticket might be for found a willing listener. Just so you know, I love to the post office. They provide a very useful service. The only problem is, I am a HUGE fan of efficiency and showing a concerted effort to help the customer in a timely manner. As a kid I worked as a cashier and it was like I had four arms! I was the epitome of efficiency. People mistook me for Asian, that's the level I was performing at. These lovely people handle customers like someones grandma might perform Tai Chi. I tried today for HOURS, not just 1 or 2 or 3 or even 4, but HOURS trying to call this location to schedule a passport appointment. There are 2 different numbers you can reach them by, as stated on the passport application website and no answer on either number-----awful. This location knows they are a designated location for passport appointments. read more

My apartment complex made the decision to no longer accept packages in their office. Most packages are delivered during the work day, when the majority of people are at work and not at home. I have had to make multiple visits to this location and here's my take on it: they don't respond when you try to set up a redelivery so when you have to go into the office (which is not near my work or home, so I'm not stoked to be there either) every single time they cut you off and say "did some one tell you it was at this specific location?" to which I say... "yep" and then they sigh and make sure you know that you are GREATLY inconveniencing them (...at work.. where they are paid to help you) and reluctantly go and look for your package. It's just a miserable experience and I dread going to this location. read more

No one likes to go to the post office. This has been my SIXTH TRIP to order and get my mail key and it was still unsuccessful. When I ordered the key I waited in line for 45 minutes. After placed, you should get your key in 1-3 weeks. I kept calling (as the instructions permitted me to) to see if it was ready but no answer. After 3 weeks I went to pick up the key. The said they never received an order for it! Cool. We put in another order. I go several times and the line is out the door. Finally today I'm standing in the appropriate line when a worker at the shipping counter tells me to come to her line because no one is working the other. Stand in line for 30 minutes and when I'm next in line she tells me to go back to the other one! You have got to be kidding me. These people are ridiculous. I literally hate this place read more

Incompetence. I lost at leat $100- 150 because some woman is too lazy to move slightly heavy packages to the other side of an open wall. She damged my ebay shipment and whatever box was below it. Totall stupidity. Collecting insurance is almost impossible if you are an ebay seller. The onus to collect is basically on the receiver of the package. Good way to lose all you customers. read more
