This honestly has to be the worst USPS facility around. Extremely unorganized. I had to go because I had not received my held mail in 4 days. Of course they have a local number but do not answer it. I waited in line for over 10 minutes to get up to the counter. It seems like when someone was done, they just got up and left the counter. I finally got to the counter and was faced the rudest, unprofessional employee ever. I asked if my mail was still being held and was ordered to provide my ID. No please or thank you - just give me your ID. I had my printout as well showing my dates when my mail was to be held and when it was to be delivered. After giving my ID, waited over 8 minutes for her to return. Was handed a bunch of mail, some of which was not even mine and gave back to the agent. She immediately marked as return to sender. I told her it should not be sent back, only to be delivered to the right address. Didn't matter, still marked AUK - address unknown. I asked if she could verify if my mail would be delivered moving forward. I got an eyeroll and huff. She said she had to check with her supervisor. I also asked why my mail had not been delivered as scheduled. She stated our "regular" person was on leave and had temps and they had thrown out all of the hold mail cards and people had to come in. Which was very frustrating to hear. No apology, nothing. I am truly hoping for my mail to get back on track. Just do better. read more

My package was not delivered due to insufficient address. So I called and they told me the address which was the Menchaca Rd to pick up my package. However when I get to the post office they tell me it's not at this post office as well as they had already sent my package off somewhere else. Taking timeout of my day to go there then getting told it's not there when I called really pissed me off. Generally everyone had an attitude there. Don't recommend this as your go to. read more

By far the BEST post office I've ever been in to. Even when there is a line (which can happen on weekends) they are fast and efficient. On most days you can be in and out in minutes. I'm fortunate enough to have lived on the side of town that makes this my primary post office since I was a teenager. They've helped me with everything from my passport during the worst time to get one (2019/2020) to sending mundane letters and packages to my aunt and uncle in Germany. They are just as fast,and more cost effective,than UPS store. read more

It seems things at this location are slower and more disorganized than they used to be for the Dutch door and delivery services. Average trip is 20 min+ with one to two people ahead. It takes between 5-10 minutes at the Dutch door for one service to be performed. Our mailbox has been broken for over a year now. USPS said it's been "fixed", yet they've never actually fixed anything. We've had packages "delivered" through USPS and they've been unable to locate them or have said they've been delivered, but we never received them. We get packages from Amazon monthly and have never had them go missing. Other than most of the staff being friendly at this location, nothing else decent I can say. read more

This is the most disorganized and cruel post office I've ever been to. All services that involve incoming mail have been diverted to a split Dutch door that is in the lobby, just by the entrance. There is almost no time of day that you can show up where there isn't a line in front of it with at the least a half hour wait I stood in line for an hour and 20 minutes (there is nowhere to sit), and then just when I was near to the front, was scolded for being there while they were trying to close and lock up. And when I showed them the note about what I was there for, they told me it wasn't there and was probably still with the mail carrier, who won't be back til later, and that I should come back and try again tomorrow. I guess I have no other choice, I will be back tomorrow and hope for a shorter line. read more

They tried to deliver mail to my mailbox that required a signature. Problem is that the mailbox is two blocks away. They left a note saying it wasn't delivered because nobody was there to sign for it. Ahh, yeah. Unlike most postal employees, I have more important stuff to do than stand there all day awaiting the presence of a civil servant. I have completely quit using snail mail.. I've always hated snail mail but recently it seems like the only way the post office turns a profit by distributing spam.. I dont want spam and if they dont have stronger spam filters then I dont want them. I'd much rather use private mail like UPS or FedEx than deal with the USPS... I would suggest that you do the same. That is unless you like dealing with the least efficient government office in the world.. They even have a sign out front that basically says you can help yourself... they certainly dont want to help you. read more

I love this post office. especially that guy Rob. I don't know if y'all have noticed but going to the post office is depressing because usually everyone is angry. I agree the lines are too long, yada yada but newsflash: the people at the counter don't have anything to do with that, they're just minding their own business and going to work. anyways, Rob doesn't let the overall lame vibe of the angry mob get to him. nor the powers that be, which I'll go out on a limb. here and say, I bet the people in charge are probably some governmental soul suckers, ol' Rob gives his spiel to each customer with his added joie d'vivre paying special attention to each person individually and questioning whether they are trying to mail mercury etc. in his sort of theatrical way. They didn't process TWO separate change of addresses and I had to drive 40 miles to get this info cleared up as it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to get a human on the phone. If you want to be treated like a child and yelled at then definitely go to him when you need something from this branch. Hands-down my favorite location. Today, I went to utilize their automated postage machine to get some stamps. The machine was malfunctioning, so I got in line to make my purchase. They had 3 tellers working. I was impressed that one of the tellers apologized for the wait time of the line to get service. She apologized to each and every customer that came up, although I didn't feel the wait time was long at all. Still nice to have the teller recognize that long wait times can be inconvenient. My teller was helpful, nice, and even laughed at my excitement for Christmas themed stamps. Thanks for being pleasant "James T-7'", AND the other 2 tellers. I'm sitting here wondering why I should bother with this. We don't get to choose our post office and they probably couldn't care less about reviews on Yelp. LOL! My advice, if you are stuck with this PO, is to go in when you need something. Don't even bother calling, just take the time to go in if you want to get whatever you might need from them. At least they're friendly. :) My other complaint is that I had to go in three times to secure a PO box. The first time I filled out the paperwork, and paid for the PO box, they lost it, so they locked my PO box forcing me to get in line and find out what the problem was. I filled out the paperwork, they took my two forms of ID (DL and LTC) both state issued photo IDs, and it seemed I was good to go. Then they locked my PO box again because they said the LTC ID wasn't accepted. What!? The third time they finally got it figured out. Like I said earlier, at least the staff is friendly. Wow, this is one of the friendliest post offices I have ever been to. They had three clerks working and added a fourth when they saw the line getting longer. Every time a customer came up to the counter the one clerk apologized for the wait. I have never heard any post office employee do that before in my memory. She was very nice and chuckled softly when I told her I needed stamps and wanted something pretty. She pulled out about four choice's and I instantly liked the one with the kittens and puppies and got that. She gave me the information I needed on the small packet I was sending, price, tracking information included, and expected date of delivery. I left smiling. read more

well there is really nothing good to say here. I have packages that are not delivered when they say they are, tracking info says they where delivered and left in the box. couldn't get the package as there is NO Key to open the box. this is the 3rd time a package has been ruined due to lack of being able to do your job. package goes in to parcel locker key to said locker goes in my box... not too difficult to do. however what happens is package goes, well who knows where since I don't have a key I don't know if it's in the box or in the truck or in space. it's like the Schrödingers cat of packages. we truely don't know if it's in the box or not. are the gummies I ordered melted in to a brick? are they sitting In the parcel locker as the tracking number would suggest... Well we just don't know as I DONT HAVE A KEY TO OPEN THE BOX!!! this happens all the time too. third time in as many weeks. Now this may not be the offices fault but since when I call to see if we can sort this out I get nothing. No one answered the phone. so I called the national number. that was as useless as calling the office. i want to file a complaint or talk to a human. save your self the trouble and use yep, fedex or send smoke signals. read more

One of the worst post offices I've ever been to. I mailed out my passport, and this post office sent it to the regional post office in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia regional office sent it to the wrong address and sent it back to my address. This post office wanted me to pay again to send it back out to the original destination that it was supposed to go to. Awful customer service and it's no wonder why USPS is a failing business. This place SUCKS! I had to file a form with the IRS on the last day of the year. I thought that - surely - the Downtown USPS post office would be open on the last business day of the year. Nope! They closed at noon. A small sign on the door (among the other craptastic, dull notices) said that only TWO USPS stations would be open in Austin that day. One in far north and one in far south Austin. So, I drove the 10 miles or so (wondering what people without a car would do...) to the post office on Manchaca. There was a line of 42 people and ONE USPS employee 'handling money.' (Take a look at the two cellphone pics I've uploaded) Sure, there was MORE than one person in the back - but they would only bring packages. After 50 minutes, there was a growing mutiny amongst the taxpayers in line who pay for these people to do their job. Finally one other USPS guy, reluctantly, showed up to take people's letters. The laziness and lack of consideration shown by these USPS personnel was truly amazing. I finally got out of there after an hour and 20 minutes. USPS you suck! Your management must be 'mentally challenged' to have so few people working in the entire city on such an legally important day of the year. Passport location review: 5 stars!!! Hopefully, you're fortunate to get Ron! He's awesome! Super efficient, super friendly, super informative! Getting passports, I assume you're prepared with all the required documents and proof(s) of citizenship, etc. Above and beyond service: Ron indicated that my husband's (lesser concern) and kids' (greater concern) birth certificates weren't likely to be accepted being the "short form" version. Husband's birth certificate has an "I" after the issue date: "I" means he was born in a hospital. "Might" be accepted, but likely not - Ron advised him of how to get the more proper and likely requested birth certificate. For our kids, no "I" was after the date of issue because they were home births. Apparently, there was a time when midwives were providing birth certificates for "aliens," so these are no longer accepted. Now you must have a "long form" birth certificate for adequate proof. (No problem for us since we applied for passports in enough time before our trip). My application wasn't an issue because I provided an expired passport. If you have a passport that's expired, this passport (+ driver's license) is pretty much all you need. I say "pretty much" because you'll also need to complete the application and pay the fees. Advice: Get the process going sooner than later in case you encounter challenges (you can pay extra fees to expedite the process, but you need to make sure you also get any outstanding required documents pronto!). There are long lines at this location, but the online change of address is a scam. They charge you $1 to verify identity, then take you to a page with a bunch of coupon orders that says you have to select at least one to go forward. If you don't and leave the page, you then get an email that says your change of address wasn't completed. And if you cancel it instead of having to select a coupon order, they keep your money. read more

Do people really enjoy going to the post office? If you do that is weird in my opinion. This location is right by my house, so I go here a handful of times a year. There is always a line, so don't be in a hurry. The employees are helpful for the most part but there are a couple you can tell that hate their job. My fiance needs a passport so I saw online that this location accepts passport applications by appointment only. So I called the number they have listed to schedule an appointment .... and I called ..... and called .... and guess what ..... called again. No answer, nothing ever picked up. Then I called another post office phone number and went through the prompts which told me to call the same number where no one picks up. If no one picks up how am I supposed to schedule an appointment??? I then decided I would just go up there and wait in line and ask to schedule an appointment. When I asked I was told that the closest appointment was 3 weeks out!! That is crazy! Insane! The postal worker did give a sheet of paper that refers to a couple of places downtown that you can go and one does not require an appointment. Anyway that is what I am going to do ... but I still don't like the post office and can not ever really see myself looking forward to going here to stand in line. read more

Wow - for days I've been trying to get someone on the phone to ask a simple question before I go out of my way and show up there without proper paperwork. Website isn't clear what I need. At first the phone just rang and rang. Now there is an automated system that just sends you down one rabbit hole after another and even when you try to hit the button to get a live person it just ends the call when no one answers.
