It seems when packages go thru Austin, they take an additional 2 or 3 days. Packages can be received in Dallas, sorted and sent to Austin in 3 hours. It then takes Austin 3 days to get it to the correct mailbox. I understand Amazon has now started delivering their packages from Houston to La Grange, Bastrop, etc. to avoid going thru Austin. read more

I've come here on a few occasions to drop off packages, send packages, get my passport, etc. My most recent trip was to retrieve a package that was not delivered to the address because it was rejected where I was staying. I came into the facility and spoke with Eddie. I explained to him the situation and after checking in the back, he figured that the package is still with the driver who was still out and about. Eddie then took my info and promised to contact me once the package is in the facility when the driver gets back. It took a few hours but I really appreciated Eddie staying on top of this despite it being a busy Friday evening. I was able to come back to the facility once the driver has handed my package to him and Eddie handed it to me. Thankful for dedicated people at the USPS! read more

Exceptional Customer Service from Donna! I want to give a huge shoutout to Donna this USPS location. She went above and beyond to help me when I really needed it. The self-service drop-off was stuck (as it often is), and instead of turning me away, Donna stayed after hours to make sure I could send my packages. Not only did she help me send them, but she also assisted me in purchasing the right box and tape making the whole process so much easier. This kind of kindness and dedication, especially during the busy holiday season, is rare and so appreciated. Every time I go to mail a package to my solider I get different answers - does not seem like the employees are knowledgeable about military discounts and what you need. Ann was rude and very hostile. It was not worth my time arguing with her for the $2 - She thought I took a picture of her when in fact I was replying to a text message. As I was leaving Ann shouted out that she would sue me if I posted a picture and that she was taking my name and address from the package and was keeping it. This doesn't seem legal to me and makes me fearful that she took my personal information and has it. read more

I had scheduled a passport appointment online for my daughter at this post office. Just over a week before the appointment, I realized I didn't have a confirmation email. I rushed over here today to see if they had her on the roster. They didn't, BUT everyone I spoke with was very helpful, and tried their best to rectify the situation for me. Even though they ultimately weren't able to pencil me in anywhere, I left knowing the local staff here hadn't just written me off or just given me an "oh well.". This Post Office is by far the worst in Austin. It is severely understaffed with only one person working the counter and the black woman is EXTREIMELY rude to literally every single person she comes across. I understand that they are extremely understaffed with only 3 people working here but don't expect them to be friendly, kind or helpful. There is only one person working there who is like that and I don't know how she manages to do it with a line across the door every single day. For many years, this has been my go-to post office in the city. I have never had a package lost, only had damage once. Lines are usually not bad except at rush periods. The workers have been always friendly and patient. It is kept nice and clean. Confused customers and customers who are trying get passports and slow things up a bit, but most of the customers just chill and chat with each other. Well done people, well done. read more

I have had 6 first class packages go missing at this Post Office in the past week. I dropped multiple packages off at this location with Prepaid first class mail labels. All of the packages where I have checked a package in at the front desk and got a receipt were fine and delivered as expected. Whenever I drop packages in the mailbox outside or the dropbox inside (even during business hours) none of them have been scanned in. I have inquired about the packages and noone has any answers. At this point I suspect foul play that is going on at this Post Office. I wouldn't recommend using drop box inside this post office or mailbox outside at all. I would only use the front desk and get a receipt. Don't trust them otherwise read more

I used to think this that was a pretty great post office. The counter staff are very friendly and efficient. They go out of their way to make sure you get what you need and what is best for you. Nicest PO counter staff ever. This post office does not get more stars, however, because I didn't get mail since last Friday! No mail on Saturday. No mail on Monday. WTF? Christmas holidays ran long? I know they didn't come at all because I left mail to be picked up -- and it stayed there until today. Today, I open my box and -- lo and behold, I have mail. One piece of mail was postmarked December 12th. Really? It takes 14 days - 2 FRIGGIN weeks for a large envelope to get to me from Las Vegas, NV? This is a two hour plane flight. The rest of my mail was postmarked from the 12th to the 19th. I know we live in a rural location, but its really not that rural. The school bus gets here fine. The weather has been great. What is wrong with the post office these days?? Oh -- and I hate that they got rid of their number system and now you have to stand in line again. Sucks because now I can't check my PO box or shop for mailing equipment while I wait for my number to be called. So -- I get my tape and stuff at HEB now. Take that, USPS. Oh -- and it really sucks for all the old people who used to be able to sit down and wait with their packages until their number was called. I have made at least 20 attempts to contact by phone. Rings and rings, not answer, then disconnects. First the do not deliver a package, then they claim that they will re-deliver the next business day (that was 2 weeks ago). The package made it all the way to this post office, to the carrier route and they can't finish the job, Why is there no accountability. First off this review was 2 stars until I read some Yelp reviews... The phone # listed on the .gov site for passports is wrong and will ring endlessly. Super frustrating. After reading some reviews here on Yelp I found the correct web site and signed up for an appointment 3 days away. I provided all the documentation and a quick 30 minutes later they verified the paperwork and sent everything in. What an absolute disgrace of a post office! I sent a package 2 day Priority Mail that showed out for delivery yesterday morning through this PO. As of yesterday afternoon, tracking showed the package was returned to sender (me) because of "Insufficient Address." The address, as verified by my shipping label history and per the recipient, is 100% CORRECT. This PO will NOT answer the phone and you can't even get a fax through because apparently they've taken that line off the hook and there's never anything but a busy signal. I am honestly floored at how downhill this location has gone. I am not that "person" to take survey's on my experiences at different businesses, but oh my goodness, the moment this clerk handed me the receipt with that option I ran home and left it on the USPS site. The clerk was beyond rude, snotty, uppity and just not helpful in anyway. I admit, I'm a novice when it comes to shipping USPS and international none the less, this woman took LESS than zero time to assist me with my questions, and even after I filled out the proper forms, she made me step aside multiple times to add addresses on my box, only to tell me I did it wrong after I came back to her station- after following her VAGUE af INSTRUCTIONS! She was fussy with the credit card I was using, (the purchase was only $20 or so) as it was a business card, and had the business name (not mine) on it. She wouldn't let me use it to pay for my business package to be shipped. whatever. Then she practically goes on to scare the daylights out of you by saying that USPS can't be responsible for fragile items overseas, I explained it was small and well wrapped but could I still put a fragile sticker on it, she abruptly said NO, and she couldn't even indicate on the form I was filling out for them to be careful with it. I told her it was well wrapped so it should be ok, but she even went further to put in my face her opinion of "well is it wrapped well enough to sustain 70lbs of boxes ontop of it????" my box was tiny... we are talking 4" x 7" x 4". I kind of looked at her in amazement and said, yes ........I think it'll be fine I did the best I could. and she literally said "well you had better". Oh my god. really.......? Her vibe, energy, and overall just persona was that of a person who is just "so done" with everything. Isn't it her job to educate you on how the process goes? And be kind to those of us who are clearly lost on what selections we should be making? I felt pressured, and flustered the entire time I was conversing with her on this transaction.....I'm certain this could have been done in a nicer, more polite way, then to be doom and gloom with my tiny package and treating it like "good luck if it even gets there lady". She didn't even bother to offer insurance options, or any sort of upgraded shipping options that might have made me feel more comfortable that my package WOULD arrive instead of circle the globe on a truck and end up at the bottom of the sea or something!!!!!! I'm sorry, and I know lots of us can relate, the ENTIRE postal experience SUCKS. going in,having to fill out forms, already makes me cringe & lose sleep over the very thought of going TO the location itself. BUT then you add this complete lack of empathy and assistance by this employee and wow. yeah.... literally makes me want to NEVER return to this location. I would literally pay MORE just to go to UPS for everything I ship from now on, purely because of this woman's rude & inappropriate attitude. Having lived in many places across this fine country (and dealing with the local Post Offices accordingly) I can honestly say this is one of the worst. 1) In our neighborhood (which is served by this post office) we routinely get packages that are mis-delivered to the wrong address. Neighbors are always emailing the neighborhood looking for mis-delivered packages, packages that didn't show up, etc. 2) Good luck trying to call them to schedule a passport appointment. Even though you are supposed to call them to schedule said appointment, no one will ever answer. I have tried for 3 days straight. 3) if you are unlucky enough to have to sit in line and wait for someone to help you, bring some music, a soothing candle, and a chair. you will be sitting there for a while.
