I hate the way the postman delivers my mail. I have many packages that come through USPS and they are NEVER delivered to me. Right now I have a little pile of orange "Sorry We Missed You!" slips sitting right here on my desk. Which is funny, because I've been home all day long. The postman NEVER puts my packages in the lockbox at my apartment complex. I guess it IS too much to ask to bring it to my door. Fine, whatever. MOST of the time, I don't even receive a little orange "Sorry We Missed You!" slips. I have to track my package and discover online that my package is waiting for me at my local post office. It's so irritating. I don't have time to track packages all day long. So, the other day I head on over to the post office to pick up some packages that I noticed have been there for days...just waiting for me to pick them up. Did I know they were there? NO. I didn't have that damn orange slip. So I go up to the counter....I ask for my packages. I get two out of three. There is supposed to be a third. The woman runs back to check again. NO. It's not there. YOu'll need to call us with the tracking number. So I go home. I call them. The man who answers my call tells me...Why, I'm holding your package in my hands right now. So I have to go back up there and retrieve it. I am NOT looking forward to my visit to the post office tomorrow. Why not have it redelivered you may ask. Well. I'm not sure why they list a phone number on their website, they refuse to answer it. I have been calling for two days straight end it just cuts off after about 3 minutes of ringing. I have had hundreds of packages delivered to my house, for some weird reason they decided this week to put a delivery slip in my mailbox a couple of days ago instead of delivering the package. Mind you, I was home at the time. I tried calling the post office multiple times, of course they didn't answer, so I filed a redelivery request online with specific instructions to leave the package in my box around the front porch. The next day I see the mailman out front by our mailbox, I go up to check it later, and there is another delivery slip instead of the package! I believe the package they are trying to deliver is a memory card that would easily fit in my mailbox. I am confounded as to why they cannot deliver it. I am thoroughly irritated that I am going to have to drive all the way out to the post office which is about 20 minutes from me to address their incompetence because they will not answer the phone. read more

HAHA! I'm reviewing the Post Office! this is just funny to me. These guys/ gals are fine. No real issues. It does take awhile, but that's the case with almost all PO's. I always try to use the computer in the lobby, makes it a little quicker, if you can use it. Other than that, just show up early in the day and NOT on a weekend. (super crazy). Also, the only real negative: the people in the back who come up to answer the door buzzer are not friendly. Not out right rude, but I think they've got a lot to deal with back there. I think someone told me they have the largest distribution warehouse in Austin? I have no idea, but I take it all in stride. They do a good job other than that little issue. I live and work less than a mile from the Congress Avenue station, but will find a way--ANY WAY--possible to not go there. It's not hell. Hell is not that horrible. They'd make the devil wait in line for 4 years and, then when it's finally his turn, they'd tell him he didn't fill something out correctly and send him back in line again. The Oak Hill Station, on the other hand, is actually a great place. For starters, you're not choking on the smog of 18-wheelers idling at Congress or the foul stench eminating from the McDonald's next door. Heck! You're almost out in the countryside of Oak Hill, Texas! Bonus points for fresh air! Once you're actually in the post office, though, you'll notice something bizarre--like short lines and friendly staff willing to help you out even if you didn't fill out one of the multiple confusing forms the post office requires of you correctly. Getting here can be a little confusing if you're coming here the first time, but trust me, it's worth getting a little bit lost in order to keep your sanity. read more

I mean it's a USPS for chrimmy sake. Yes, it is ok, since it does get the job done with out much of a fuss. Unfortunately, it is a throwback to a lost time. Whenever I do utilize the walk up windows, the postman/women are always pleasant and having a good time with customer and colleagues. It is obvious that they know their regulars and engage them in conversation while working away get the stamps out etc. What is a shame is the lobby area with very old, not utilized storage cabinets which makes the place feel a little soul-less. Yeah, I get it that it's a huge federally run business, but perhaps a little updating and removal of items which are no longer needed. On this recent visit, I really couldn't understand one archaic policy of only allowing $50 charge on a credit card when using the kiosk after hours. A fairly huge problem when you got 225 Christmas Cards to mail and you only can get 202 stamps and need two credit cards to even do that. Luckily I do carry two cards and a luckily had a few bucks on me as well. Not sure if this policy is the same for a debit card, I actually don't know if the kiosk accepts debit cards. But anyway, the kiosk is fairly useful overall and find myself utlizing more often than not.. if anything, it is convenient once you figure out how to use it. read more

I cannot believe I am writing a positive review for a post office. My historic experience with post offices have been terrible at best. But the staff at this location are phenomenal. We had passport appointments for our two young kids and our youngest was not on board with getting his picture taken and let everyone in the building know about it. So many staff members came by to help in any way they could. Donna ended up being the most helpful for us, first asking me if I thought candy would help and then scrounging up an assortment of candy for our kids to choose from. It did the trick and he ended up smiling for his picture. At the end of the appointment, he made sure to go find Donna to tell her bye. She was truly a lifesaver at this appointment. All of the staff were so kind and made it a point to engage with all of us. It was such a friendly, kind and warm environment. This location is not close to our home but I think it might be worth it to come here for our postal needs just to avoid the disgruntled employees at other locations. I used to think this that was a pretty great post office. The counter staff are very friendly and efficient. They go out of their way to make sure you get what you need and what is best for you. Nicest PO counter staff ever. This post office does not get more stars, however, because I didn't get mail since last Friday! No mail on Saturday. No mail on Monday. WTF? Christmas holidays ran long? I know they didn't come at all because I left mail to be picked up -- and it stayed there until today. Today, I open my box and -- lo and behold, I have mail. One piece of mail was postmarked December 12th. Really? It takes 14 days - 2 FRIGGIN weeks for a large envelope to get to me from Las Vegas, NV? This is a two hour plane flight. The rest of my mail was postmarked from the 12th to the 19th. I know we live in a rural location, but its really not that rural. The school bus gets here fine. The weather has been great. What is wrong with the post office these days?? Oh -- and I hate that they got rid of their number system and now you have to stand in line again. Sucks because now I can't check my PO box or shop for mailing equipment while I wait for my number to be called. So -- I get my tape and stuff at HEB now. Take that, USPS. Oh -- and it really sucks for all the old people who used to be able to sit down and wait with their packages until their number was called. This post office refuses to forward our mail!!!! We have filled out forms, stopped in and asked nicely and even put a note in our old mailbox. Still - nothing!!!! We are late on paying bills and will have to pay penalties. We nearly lost our insurance policies, if we hadn't go down there and asked for our mail. We live 2 hours away now and it isn't easy to go there and pick up our mail. We formally asked them to forward our mail at the end of September and they said they would start forwarding on October 1. Can you give negative stars? This is ABSURD!! My package never arrived so when I contacted the seller they said an attempt had been made and a notice left. Well, as I'm the only one that lives there, I can assure you no notice was left. Less then a week after this supposed attempt, and after I actually found out a supposed attempt had been made, I call and get put on hold for literally almost an hour and a half. Then when I finally talked to a human being they were confused as to where the package was sent, and filed a claim for it and gave me the number for my local USPS. I really want to like this post office as it's literally within walking distance of my house, but today's experience was pretty bad. I went in and there was a line of people waiting, as usual. There was a big overhead screen behind the counter that said the Internet there was not working and they're checking the router, etc. in an effort to fix the issue. When I saw that only one person was working behind the counter and there was a substantial line, I asked if any of the other post offices in the area were up and running. This tiny old postal worker with dyed red hair and a bad attitude said, "THIS post office is working" and continued to stare at me, clearly unhappy with my inquiry. My question was a valid one, given the Internet notice, the fact that only one station was open and, again, the line. Not convinced that granny and her cohorts were up and running themselves, I left and went to the S. Congress post office, where I was promptly served and the gentleman who helped me was courteous and professional. The Oak Hill post office is a good reason for why many folks have a poor opinion of the post office. read more

The absolute lack of professionalism and customer care at this post office is astounding. Twice I attempted to pick up my package, and each time the pickup window was closed and I was told repeatedly (both days) that someone was "on their way" to open it, I never once saw it open, either day. When I got in the regular line after waiting a good chunk of time, on the first day I was told it had been returned to sender (it hadn't), and today, after being told twice someone was on their way (they weren't),I got in the regular line again and I was told they weren't allowed to retrieve it from that line! So what are we supposed to do, then?! And for the pièce de résistance, I finally asked to speak with the manager, and I was told I would need to wait in the pick up window line! The worst part is that no one is accountable! This is the reason the post office is becoming more and more obsolete, yielding the majority of their business to companies that actually DO hold their employees accountable and actually DO have a sense of responsibility to the customer and as such, they provide better customer service! I'm appalled at their response to me asking to speak with a manager. They're open til 2 on Saturdays, so I guess that earns them the one star they make you give to post anything, but otherwise I can't think of anything positive or productive about my experience with them at all. read more

The location itself has friendly folks but I have no idea wha is wrong with the people who actually deliver the mail! This year (2016) I have received notice of 5 packages having been delivered but I haven't received them! As I'm typing, one package was delivered at 10am today, but apparently not to me. I am showing 2 additional packages set to be delivered tomorrow so I will sit on my porch and wait for the mailman to arrive. There is one company that will no longer deliver to my home because they have had to resend pricey products, so I have them sent to my office address. I guess I will do this for ALL packages from now on, although I was holding out hope that I could continue to receive mail at the home I've lived at for 26 years. read more

One Star. Here's Why: 1) They don't answer their phones. EVER. One of the post men advised me today that they were told (not sure by whom) that they aren't allowed to answer their phones anymore. 2) They stopped processing Passport applications until March 2014. If only they answered their phones, they could have told me over the phone that they no longer process Passport applications and I could have saved myself the 20-minute drive plus the 15-minute wait in line. Ok. I get it. You made some decisions in your life that led you to a low paying job at a post office. That's on you not on me. You have plenty of time after your shift to be upset but during your work hours at least try not to be rude. USPS won't deliver packages to my apartment door, so I always get them via a pink slip. Sigh. This would be ok if my mail wasn't delivered AFTER the lobby closes. So, yes, I have to look online to when the package is at my local post office, go out of my way during the day to attempt to retrieve it, with only 50/50 success. When I do manage to get through the line to pick up my package I am usually greeted by a sassy or disgruntled employee. Yes, I understand that when I do have the opportunity to make a trip over that you may not have processed the mail yet, but I will still try. DON'T try to embarrass me in front of a line of people because you had to walk your fat body from behind the counter. DO your job. Caveat: There are some extremely nice employees there. I have been mailing registered letters for 30 years from this post office -- and I swear they change the procedure almost every time I go there. It seems they just make these up as they go along. Had to go to the Oak Hill Post Office branch this morning to buy some stamps and take care of some business and I dealt with Rob. I was astounded today when an irrational customer in line behind us started yelling at him because she had a busy day and this was going to delay her. I think this is one of the better post offices I've been to. Usually they are not that busy (of course don't go there Monday morning or the 2 weeks before Christmas...). I didn't have a bad experience there and when there is a wait it's usually due to the customer (who go there unprepared, don't know how they want to mail their stuff and have to fill out all the forms there or want special stamps). I never had anyone rude or not helpful there and they are especially nice to my kids. read more
