Supposedly maps says they open at 8:30 I came into drop off a package and they didn't open until 9:15

These US post office staff are doing their best! It's the system that needs to be improved, but the staff are great here. Very kind friendly quick efficient. Their digital system is updated regularly. I come here multiple times a week as I am a drop shipper. I am grateful to see kind helpful staff each day. They are doing their best work. Please be patient and make sure you have everything you need by the time you are called in line so that you don't have to go back in line. All USPS are understaffed. That is the reality of our employment situation today. Just get in line and wait your turn. If the line is too long, come back when it's not. Or you can use the digital service in the lobby, which is very easy to use and you can do much more than you think. read more

I recognized the clerk, because he had worked at 'our' South Congress station for years. I told him that I missed seeing him, and he responded that he missed many of his regular customers but he did not miss what had become a 'crazy toxic environment' at the South Congress location. They were incredibly rude when I was just asking questions to figure out what to do since my package was signed for by them but missing but they got so defensive and rude to the point where I think they stole it. read more

Need help? Nobody will answer the phone' so good luck figuring out where your package was "delivered". Said it was delivered to a parcel box but I didn't get a key for one. I have no issues with this office, I'm there quite a bit. I think they are doing very well under the circumstances. It's obvious they're understaffed a lot of the time. In spite of that the employees are helpful. What I do have a a problem with is the information about their HOURS IS WRONG! It looks like you can access the self-serve machine in the lobby anytime, but that's not the case. I don't think they can leave it open becuz there are a number of homeless people in the area. Also, think it's amazing you can buy a postage stamp for less than $1 and send it anywhere in the US! read more

I arrived at 4:40 and waited in line until 5:40 before the only woman working the desk said that she would not be helping me because my package required a customs form and she would not take it. I asked if I could fill it out while she served the customers behind me and she said that even if I did, she would not take my package. Disgusting. Only post office in the country with zero post office boxes outside of the building. How that is possible for a post office is a mystery.

The employees at 3903 S. Congress P.O. show up for work when they feel like it. The opening hours for full service is 8:30. They consistently don't arrive until 9:00 a.m., or 9:30, or later. I went in this morning around 10. There was no line. There were three employees working at the front and there were only two customers including myself. I had my package and custom form ready and it took me less than 5 minutes to get out of the post office. Covid protocol in place and Charles who helped me was very efficient, professional and friendly. Another female employee next to him was helping another customer and I heard her talking to the customer in a nice and friendly manner, too. Very pleasant experience. There are many negative reviews for many post office visits on Yelp but I personally had a great experience this morning. read more

My wife had the clerk weigh, calculate fee, and print and attach their printed postage fee label to a small package. Package was returned to us three weeks later marked insufficient postage. The USPS worker was the one who did everything! It's not our first major problem with this office. They suck. I think they deliberately screw up and are rude in hopes that you don't use them anymore. read more

Wondering where my package is. It's been in Austin since 1:47AM. Now, they tell me I won't get it until Monday, maybe! This is far from the first time they've screwed with my packages, including a time where they "lost" a 6 foot tall, 14 inch by 14 inch package! And they just keep getting worse! I didn't read through all the reviews so I'm not sure why this location has such a low rating, but this is my favorite Austin USPS branch! I've been going a lot for a promotion, and there usually isn't much of a line, and when there is one the staff is quick to get through it. On top of that, I've heard them APOLOGIZE on several occasions for the wait. Never seen that at any other USPS. Staff is super friendly and helpful, and I've probably been to every clerk at least once at this point. Keep up the good work, guys! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would; came with a pre paid return label to return a pair of shorts. Self service machine was broken so I waited 30 min in line to finally be helped by Eddie. From the get go he told me my packaging was incorrect and they couldn't process it, ok no big deal I had a box with me. I pulled the box out and Eddie said "ok now you need to go buy an entire roll of tape to attach the label" I said "why would I pay to buy a roll of tape just to have you attach my pre paid label" his reply "times are tough, we have to make money..." fortunately the guy behind me had tape and let me borrow some just to attach my label. While I was waiting I noticed Eddie making every transaction extremely difficult for every customer. The guy behind me was told to purchase different packaging and to purchase an entirely different label just to be able to return his Apple Watch to Apple. I fully understand why people hate USPS so much; I'll stick to UPS or fedex moving forward. read more

I had never been to this location. I went inside with my service dog and stood in line. I was having pleasant conversation with the customers in line when this woman from behind the registers screamed out across the room at me yelling that I am not allowed to have my dog inside with me. I told her she was a service dog and offered to show paperwork and said I would leave. She stopped talking but as I'm standing there I keep seeing her look over at me with these very ugly glares. I felt very very uncomfortable and embarrassed because of how loud rude she was. I finally approached the counter and she had nothing friendly to say to me what so ever and genuinely seemed to not like her job. If you don't like your job then maybe you should find a new one instead of taking it out on others. I felt profiled for having a bunch of tattoos and maybe looking young because I'm only 4'11. I walked out and sat in my car fighting back tears as I had never felt more discriminated. I have worked customer service for 30 years and this was the worst. They really need to fire her and hire someone whom enjoys what they do. Someone whom greets customers and politely tells them when dogs aren't allowed in the post office. She genuinely made this experience the worst and I won't be coming back here. Discriminating against those with disabilities is a bad look. read more

Most of the staff seems very helpful and nice. If you are sending mail its a fine post office. However, The MANAGER is a total jerk! Extremely rude and unhelpful in my opinion! This location has some of the worst basic service you'll find at a location. For some reason, they always have a line. They are chronically understaffed (or just not working quickly). One time the counter person and manager freaked out bc I needed to take a photo of my package before I mailed it out: maybe if they were as concerned about basic operations as they are about weird rules that have zero importance , this location would run semi-normally. Horrid! This post office breaks USPS policy to overcharge customers. I came in here to mail an item in a flat rate envelope with a pre-paid label I had. While I was in the lobby, not at the counter to be helped, a lady named Sheree or something very similar to that yelled out "You can't ship that like that and will have to purchase additional postage." She tried to tell me because the item was not flat it couldn't be mailed in a flat rate envelope and that only pieces of papers can be mailed there. This is completely AGAINST POSTAL POLICY that obviously they don't read or know. DMM Notice proper use of flat rate containers on USPS official site says: Q. What if the FRE is too thick? A. There is currently no maximum thickness for a FRE. "Flat" refers to the price, not to the shape. Q. What if the FRE is stuffed so full that it's shaped like a cylinder? A. As long as the FRE can close within its normal folds, and as long as the sides of the FRE haven't been reconstructed, for example by being slit and having a gusset inserted, it is fine. I tell them, you're just interrupting me and not allowing me to talk. I start again and Charles interrupts and says "Don't listen to this guy, call a supervisor." Supervisor comes out and listens and says "no you can't mail it." I said alright, if that's your stance I will call USPS and let them tell if your stance is right or wrong. What's your name to follow up? Supervisor refuses to tell his name to be accountable. I can't believe this, so I have to have my camera to document the story. He repeats how I can't ship items that aren't flat BLATANTLY against Postal Policy. Tells me he's not telling me his name and claims it's illegal to film in a post office so he's calling the cops. I said, that's fine, call them if you want I'm doing nothing wrong but trying to get information to resolve this. They called the cops. Cop shows up and the supervisor runs. It's only the employees that will talk to him. Says I have first amendment rights to film. Postmaster 7 document even gives me permission to film. Again, they don't read here. Cop reviews footage and says this was a giant waste of his time. I wasn't causing any disturbance and he doesn't have any dog in the fight. Says he as a gov employee. Has to tell people his name. So then I walk back inside filming and get all the employees names. They won't tell me supervisors name. They are literally ripping off customers here. Went to this location to send some documents for overnight delivery. I was given a receipt with my payment info and the tracking number and a small piece of paper with a sticker with the tracking number. My documents did not arrive next day, instead 2 day. I waited on the phone to speak to a USPS rep for answers for 30 minutes before learning that no, the package would not arrive on time and that i could get a refund since this was money back guaranteed. I went back to this location with my paper receipt with my payment info and tracking info. I was told that they could not give me money back because i did not have the small sticker with the tracking number- something that no one informed me I would need in order to get my money back. I spoke to the head clerk and also to the supervisor- absolutely no empathy or customer service. I was told that it is "policy" and that all the clerks there inform customers of this policy... yeah,no. So I'm out $26 AND my package didn't arrive as promised because I should just KNOW USPS policies. Never using their services for any type of priority shipments again!! read more

Some extremally rude lady here by the name of Liz is running customers away. Had to take time out of my day to write this. Great overcast day, felt like going on a quick ride on my bike and ship 2 packages I've had to return, get to the counter, asked if I can have these shipped back to the sender, Immediately yells of the top of her lungs, "WE DON"T DO THAT HERE", I was like I'm sorry? She yells again, "WE DON'T DO 45", I was again super confused and asked what that mean, she yells again, "WE DON'T SHIP 78745", not sure why she's speaking in code, and still wasn't sure what she meant, only that she expected me to leave immediately after 20 minutes of being in line, immediately yells "IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT YOU CAN WAIT THERE FOR A SUPERVISOR" (I think she maybe looking to get fired), told her I can clarify once she calms down, and that I'm simply looking for to send these items back to the address specified on the labels and not sure how my location is relevant, She is immediately like "OHHH" then gets me the labels, throws them on the counter and tells me to fill them out on the side, meanwhile she changes her tone and is super nice with the next customer. When I go back I deal with another representative, turns out the labels she had gotten me were 3x the price of what I required to simply send a few inexpensive nuts and bolts back to a seller with $100+ insurances...etc. Meanwhile she had returned back to yelling in a condescending manner to the next customer. I asked the rep I was engaged with what her name was, She yells again from 15 feet across, "MY NAME IS LIZ". I wasn't even talking to her. I don't know how this PO got such low reviews. I go out of my way to mail parcels from here since the one on Manchaca Rd always has a long line which moves slowly. I never had to wait more than 5 min. at this one. And the staff are all extremely courteous and helpful. I'm sticking to this one. My experiences have all been great!! read more

A truly terrible situation was handled wonderfully by the supervisor but some of the employees working at this location are extremely flippant, incompetent, and completely uninterested in helping. I would first like to acknowledge the amazing customer service my wife and I got from Crystal the supervisor. She resolved an issue that was being worked on by three other employees in about 15 mins. She knows her stuff and was extremely efficient and helpful. I would also like to acknowledge the other employees involved in this. We spoke with two managers, one of which has short hair and glasses and is named Mary J. and an employee named Britany. Britany was immediately disrespectful and unhelpful and seemed to have no idea what she was talking about. Mary the manager gave us information that directly contradicted the information we received from another manager as well as Crystal the supervisor. Mary was extremely rude and dodged our questions repeatedly whether by choice or due to incompetence. She tripled down on the completely incorrect information she gave us. When my wife asked her how it would be possible for someone random to pickup a package without an ID and address and name or tracking number. She said she didn't know over and over and had no answer for us. It's really disheartening that Mary the manager has so little regard for the valuable items belonging to others. We ultimately had to start an investigation with the postal inspectors because of the value involved to see if we could get anywhere that way. This was the only option we had left to try after calling the branch and usps customer service and going to the post office repeatedly. Today we came up to get the information of the employees involved (Mary J and Britany) and when we arrived Britany told us that Mary wanted to speak with us but Mary was conveniently in a meeting when she was told it was us (we had been three times before) and was defensive when we asked for the information we were told to ask for by the postal inspectors. Britany basically disappeared into the back after not helping at all and making the situation more stressful for everyone involved, just like all of our previous visits. This is when Crystal the supervisor took over and got the job that defeated an incompetent manager and I guess what you could say is an employee done in about 15 minutes. We are forever grateful for her help. I hope Britany and Mary either go through training and onboarding again or find a profession where they aren't responsible for anything important or even remotely valuable or fragile and do not have any interaction with the public.
