Just a short update: I'm not in the area much anymore, but when I am I've found the workers at the counter treating customers with respect. The office is fairly clean (customers leave mail trash around that gets cleaned at night). Also, the drive thru area for mail drops is very convenient off Far West. read more

Like any other post office, there are long lines. But I'm reviewing this spot because I really like the woman who processes the passports. She's easy, flexible, and helpful! I've visited with her 3 or 4 times now to get my family travel ready. She stays past the scheduled hours sometimes, and has genuine conversations. I've talked and laughed with her over the months and she's even recommended her hair stylist to me. This whole post office is very community oriented- & seems to be a hotspot for small business owners. Lots of people coming and going all day long- dropping off orders for their e-customers. Home based businesses FTW. I'm here way too often so I might as well pay my respects with an honest review. read more

Customer Service was awful. I was going to buy commemorative stamps and he said i would be disappointed and threw a notebook at me. Thank goodness i was nosey because they were all shoved into two protecter sheets. There were only 3 choices in the binder. All he had to do is answer my one question, if there were any Betty White stamps. Which he rudely replied look in the binder. Why is he even working there if he doesn't care. You think the public doesn't care about you and why should we when you have people like this working for the post office. Change your attitude!! I will share this with everyone now. read more

Getting customer service at a Post Office is a fool's errand. I have been ringing the bell at this office for 20 minutes now, with no response whatsoever. Desk help are no help. I add a ring every fine minutes. Any other ideas? Thought I would catch you up. After 25 minutes someone told me that the supervisor who could help me is on the phone and his ETA is unknown. Informed me I could do what I need to do online. Went home. Looked it up: you guessed it the website says I have to go to the post office. So, while I had a great experience getting my first time passport, unfortunately the picture that was taken was not acceptable. I just opened my email to find out that I have to resubmit the picture portion of my application. How is it that a person whose job is to process passport applications and take the pictures screwed this up! I am so mad!!! I paid extra to have my passport expedited, my trip is now 70 days away and now I'm stressing AND have to pay for another passport photo!!!! Also, I just can't email or drop off this picture. I have to send it snail mail!!! I called the post office to see if maybe they can redo my picture and the phone just rings off the hook!!!! So angry!!! read more

Once when I was in there the person asked for help from the back and they were ignored. I left! It also seemed like an inordinate amount of time to help someone with one package to mail. So here's my Rant: Oh my god..... what is wrong with this Post office???. I run a business that received checks regularly to stay in business. I would say that 30% of these checks never arrive, and who knows what other mail never shows up. What is going on with this post office ???? I've had to come up with other solutions to just avoid having anything mailed to us. I would say every 2 weeks my neighbor shows up with a handful of mail, including checks, because the mail was delivered to the wrong address. And... I get my neighbors mail all the time with clearly the wrong address. There is something seriously wrong with the people that work here.... it's either complete incompetence, or they just don't care anymore. This post office services our condominium's complex. The delivery personnel show up sporadically and at times neglect to lock back the cabinet doors exposing the mail boxes to whoever may wonder by. Typical lazy neglectful government employees. read more

Ever since the one lady retired, the guy who's been here the longest is left doing everything himself with little support. Just went today, only him working and no stamps until Wednesday! I think the management needs to be changed because Saturdays are super busy here and there's no excuse to have only one person handling a never-ending line. I just had the rudest man "help" me with my passport. I thought the folks before me were just unhappy people until I had to deal with that man. I left in a very escalated situation. He was zero help and 100% rude and condescending. I will go to a different post office moving forward. I can't believe how rude he was. He shouldn't work with the public. read more

Nice calm post office. Just please let us decide if we want print only, email or both. It was important that I keep records and I need to have email. The clerk reached over and tapped print only to hurry it up but that's not ok. It wasn't busy. So you upset one customer to hurry to another customer so that customer doesn't get upset? common sense... think about it. read more

This is my favorite USPS location. The facility does not look clean, the floors are dirty, but the employees are so fast. Even if there is a line, I am out in 10 minutes max! There is plenty of parking. They also have alot of pretty stamps available in stock for purchase. read more

The workers are kind and very helpful! A carrier delivered my package to the wrong mailbox, and the folks at the front desk were not only super patient in helping me, they followed up by calling me to make sure I eventually got my package (which I did, by some miracle). Never had an issue otherwise, lovely location. read more

Their lobby is supposed to be open until 6pm on Saturdays but it's 5:37pm and they closed early. If you're posted that you're open then stay open. If not, no worries but change the stickers on your door please. read more

Horrible experience after horrible experience at this location. Today I came and the end of my box had a small flap open I must've missed to finish taping and I couldn't get a three inch piece of tape to ensure my package arrived safely and I was offered a $4 measly roll of tape to purchase by an employee who was just giving me attitude about my partial open edge. Embarrassing. There wasn't much of a line but coming here today but twice I've come before and the line took me over 25 minutes on a weekday early afternoon. read more

I'm not gonna gripe about the post office in general, but the carriers do not want to take outgoing mail out of your mailbox. My mother is 86 years old and can't make it out there anymore to put it into the receptacles. She therefore puts it in her mailbox sticking out to be taken by the postal carrier. All he does is shove it back in. She is trying to get her property taxes paid and it keeps happening. The lady can't drive and I am disabled, so nor can I. My understanding is that if they pick up outgoing mail when they get back to the post office, they have to process it. Apparently this high-paying job with a lot of security and advantages. Does not encourage people to work any harder. I think somewhere it's written that it's against the law for you to use any other postal carrier i.e. UPS FedEx if you could use the post office. For such a cushy job, you would think that they would try harder. read more

Shockingly bad. USPS is well known for being terrible, just take a look at their Yelp ratings all across every city in america. They do not conduct themselves professionally, which is the bare minimum to be an "okay" business. Every single employee is surly and rude. Package tracking often malfunctions, the lines are long at all times. Again, the employees are always rude to their customers. There's one thing, though, that really earns USPS the right to be one of the worst institutions in the country: their phone system. If you want to get an actual human on the phone, you should set an entire day aside to do it. You will have to navigate through a hundred different automated menus, yelling at the phone until eventually you somehow get ahold of someone. Every time I have to pick up a package after a slip is left on my door, it's an ordeal. Time after time it's never easy. Most recent example, I went and rang the bell 3 times and waited 10 minutes and no one came. The people behind the counter just sat there and didn't alert anyone. So I left and will come back and cross my fingers someone answers the bell. What is this? 1975? What kind of system is this? read more

I drive several miles past the Land of the Lost at Braker Lane just to get to this USPS facility where the people behind the counter know their jobs, do their work, and are friendly and super helpful. I had to mail a US passport application, and I wasn't sure how to send it, and the woman behind the counter took the extra time to go over the form and say, "Here are all the things we need to fix to make sure that it doesn't get kicked back out of the system." Everybody here is also trained on US passports, and we always check to make sure that the forms don't go to Irving and get sent right back because you used blue ink or taped your photo to the application instead of stapling it. Braker Lane was so bad when I was there, I had to contact my US Senator to complain. This place is sufficiently good that I'll probably write him again to say, "This is how a post office should work. Close Braker Lane, double the staff at Far West, and make the world a better place." read more

This post office always looks like someone let the air out of it. The store looks in disarray, the staff seem deflated, and the service seems exhausted. This is my local post office and over the years it has never changed. You want to give this place a xanax and a latte. It needs to chill out and perk up all at once. read more

Nothing but good things to say about this location, despite the other reviews. We came in to file paperwork for 3 new passports and the gentleman working with us was so pleasant and friendly. He made it so painless. One of the front counter postal workers was great too - she recommended that we wait to purchase money orders for the passports to avoid three fees. I was able to just write one check for all three processing fees for the acceptance center and avoided having to buy money orders altogether. We had arrived way too early for our appointment but watched the postal workers at the counter. They were all friendly and smiling and I was impressed with their speed and efficiency in taking care of customers. If I need to come into a post office, this is where I'll be coming in the future. The scheduled appointment for the passport is a great option for people who are busy and hate waiting or fighting for a place in line. We were delayed a few minutes after our appointment time due to a delay with a previous person getting their passports but made up for it in the speed with which the passport guy took care of us. About 20 minutes to get all 3 of us set up and on our way! read more

Time to update the review. It's absolutely convenient, but the drop boxes in the lobby are completely unreliable. I dropped off a package in the drop box on Wednesday evening. As of this morning (Tuesday), it still wasn't showing up in online tracking. I finally called the 800 number to find out the status. Amazingly, then the status is updated to show "accepted by the post office." The branch manager, Norman, explains to me that they only scan packages that are given to the counter staff. This goes against every experience I've had at other post office locations, but completely matches my family's previous experiences with dropping off packages in the drop box at this location. Sure, it's a convenient neighborhood location, but it's at the price of your packages being delayed nearly a week before going out. read more

The absolute worst customer service people here that are working our lazy nothing against the US post office because there are the locations that are really good but this one in particular is just complete and utter disappointment. They close at 5:30 but really they should put that they stop working at around four because when you show up at 5:25 or even 520 they say that they're already closed and the not helping anybody else very very lazy people I am just completely shocked at the way they just literally close the gate in my face instead of helping me prior to it being 530 if the time on Google and on yelp or incorrect you people need to fix it immediately because there still people arriving to the post office. read more

I usually have decent customer service experiences at my local post offices, but not this time. At the Far West location, 2 of 3 agents presented themselves with an angry vibe, were curt, rude, and unhelpful. One agent stated in front of several customers that she "couldn't wait to get the f*** out" and go home; then proceeded to verbally abuse a fellow employee, all out loud. When I asked her name she jerked around to hide her badge (Rach-something) and stated something like " I dont have to give you nothin." Finally a supervisor arrived and did a good job of listening to my complaint. A Federal governmental public institution has a responsibility to provide respectful and courteous customer service. Abusing customers is a travesty. Frankie, the supervisor said he would speak to them. Id say they need to be prevented from customer service! This post office has deeper issues Im afraid. I was treated so badly at this location today that I plan never to return. I arrived a little before 9, assuming they were open, since other locations open early (Northcross at 8:30). Anyway, I was ignored by the employees because it was before their opening time. When I asked the attendant what time they opened, she rudely directed me to a sign that I couldn't see. We weren't communicating well, and I apologized. She told me "I'm not gonna talk to you any more!" Terrible attitude and terrible customer service! It's not fun dealing with complex problems that both the customer and the postal service itself has created. But like it or not, you chose this as your job. And you should try to treat customers as you'd like to be treated. Walking into your post office with an issue is like walking to a mis matched fight. Horrible service. My private post office went out of business and was told I can pick up my mail here. When I went to pick up from post office they said they will not hold my mail and send back everything. No compassion. So heartless. They wouldn't even agree to hold my mail for 10 days so that I could get my mail and know which businesses to change. So frustrating. What customer service is that?! read more

I have mailed from here several times with no problems. These have been priority mail items and I would wait until I could hand it to a clerk and have it checked in. The lady behind the counter that I have dealt with each time has been friendly. I did have to wait quite a bit one time as someone new to the USA, who spoke no English was trying to mail something to Asia. As I have had to do this same thing, but in other countries, I just chilled. When I realized what she was trying to do I offered to help as the customer spoke some German. All in all, everything was taken care of, thanks all around, and a visitor went away with a positive memory of Austin.
