While the employees here are nicer than your average government workers, the self serve kiosk is never fully functional, it's always out of something or unable to perform certain tasks. Awful customer service. I was patronized for waiting in line to drop off prepaid postage. I do that because it will be scanned in and that affects eBay shipment tracking. When I just drop them off the tracking will show the "acceptance" as much later than when I dropped them off. This isn't USPS' fault, but I have every right to wait in line and personally drop my packages off. I don't need condescension for doing so. I was also berated for asking for a receipt. I was told that USPS absolutely doesn't do that. I said that's fine but I absolutely did get one last week from another USPS office. I wasn't trying to get the employee to give me a receipt after her explanation, but I was disputing her assertion that no USPS offices give them for prepaid packages. Hit or miss for the most part. When I first moved to the neighborhood several years ago, I would have given this a higher rating. The lines moved much more quickly and the staff was really friendly. I was so happy because other post offices were far worse. Going to the post office wasn't a bad experience and didn't take much time. There are a handful of people who work here who are nice and helpful. However, for the most part it just seems like they are overworked and despondent now. Regardless of when I go, there are always too few people at the counter and no one to answer the doorbell at the pick up window. I wish there was a way to give this place 0 stars. I have never had someone give me so much attitude who works in a customer service environment. The unnamed woman, who refused to give me her name, hung up on me twice while I was in the middle of a sentence and was rude throughout the entire conversation telling me things like "you're wrong" and "it is your fault" when I was trying to find a way to get ahold of a package that was delivered to my old address. I understand that they have a long day, but to be that rude to a customer trying to find a package is completely out of line. If there was ever a way to choose not to receive a package at a certain post office I would certainly be sure to eliminate this one from my options. read more

So all this and it turned out the package was sittung in the local branch. No delivery note ended up at our place (a locked mailbox so not a lost sticker on the the door). I love this post office and can't figure out what people are complaining about. No line, super nice staff. I bought a house that didn't have a mailbox (which I didn't notice during escrow). The supervisor was really helpful and talked to the mail carrier (they know the routes, the houses, the people) and had me hold my mail and figure out where to put the box. Why is there only one counter person assisting customers when it is evident that there is a long line snaking through the post office? I have been waiting for 15 minutes and the line has barely moved. There are other postal employees walking around, "pretending" to be busy, and I'm sure they are aware that we have other stuff to do besides wait in this damn line... I tried to get a passport renewal back in February and the post office closer to home tried pulling me in for April. Searching farther, I found the friendly postal people on Far West. Their passport services are above par, professional and very efficient. When a customer banged on the locked passport office door insistently, the postman calmly opened the door, spoke to her outside the office and gave her forms and an appointment on the spot. He was very patient and friendly which helped the woman calm down, take her appointment and leave quietly. Needless to say, the passport arrived alot faster than expected. I love people who have good work ethic and the very nice passport man (I think it's Brad, but I could be wrong) had it down to a science. I went back there today for a package mailing and the line moved quickly. I usually use the machine b/c I'm masochistic in that way, but if you feel like smiling, hit the line and you'll get friendly service at the counter. read more

I get home and grab our mail out of our mailbox. It's not our mail. It's our neighbors mail. They are neighbors somewhere on our street but I don't know them. I see the postal carrier walking fast down the street. Like he left his truck running somewhere. I run after him and tell him this is not my mail. He says, "oh, okay. I guess yours is down the street somewhere" and points behind me. He takes the "not my mail mail" and walks away. What the F***?! Does he really think I'll go door to door asking people for my mail? This is a simple post office. Nothing fancy. But, out of all the post offices I have been to in my life, the people here have always been friendly, and actually looked like they enjoy their jobs. I usually just by pass the line and use the self service kiosk to mail my packages. The self service kiosk is open 24/7 which makes it very convenient to use. read more

It you can save yourself the trouble of having some miserable pathetically rude human being process your passport application and talk down to you like you are a peasant, then do it. I cannot reiterate enough how unpleasant it was to deal with the employee they have working in the passport section. He has been there for YEARS and actually processed my first passport 7 years ago but it seems like the years have only made him more rude and proficient in horrendous customer service. His attitude is beyond snarky and downright disgusting. He treats you like you are below him and stupid even when you come beyond fully prepared to quickly and easily renew your passport. the people at the counter here are always helpful and pleasant. I would give them 5 stars. Sadly, the workers who deliver the mail are terrible. In our neighborhood, we all get the wrong mail and every afternoon, we visit our neighbors to deliver the mail. it happens every day! Today, I received 23 pieces of mail that went to the wrong house. They were away for a week, so my bills sat in their mailbox. When I went on vacation and put our mail on hold through the on-line system and received a confirmation, the mail was delivered anyway. When I reported this, the male person who answered the phone after 4 unanswered calls, said that the system often doesn't work (it works in the rest of the world) and it would be best to come into the post office and complete a hold mail form. I also received a notice that I needed to pick up my mail as the mailbox was full. About half of what was in the box was not our mail, of course. Packages are lost every week and never found anywhere. With the holiday coming, I am afraid to order anything on-line as the PO is often used as the default carrier by Fedex. read more

Okay, I'm going to be the good guy here and say a few things about this Post Office and the team working here. Today I had an appointment with Peter Alvarez in the passport office. My appointment was at 1:15 and I arrived at 10 minutes to 1:00 completely prepared with all the correct documents (except my checkbook, which is important to the story) and he was able to see me at 1:00. He is clearly very busy and has a line of people waiting to ask questions. It's almost impossible to call and get an answer because Peter is always with someone. The angry people waiting complained about the "no answer" phone calls but would be the very people to complain if he stopped to answer a phone during their appointment. He was fast, efficient, and friendly. My carelessness of forgetting my checkbook required that we get money orders from one of the desk people. A woman standing in line "barked" at Peter, "are you just asking a question or cutting in line?" He's an employee for crying out loud. He handled it very well much better than I would have. I was in and out of the place in less than 20 minutes. Great job! read more

I've been to at least 5 of Austin's post offices and I really wanted to take the time to comment on the best ones. This one has incredible service! The people who work there are kind, patient and devoid of sarcasm. I have watched while these "angels" have helped the most clueless senior citizens and foreign students with their needs without batting an eye. For the past nine months, I have been sending legal documents certified through Chimney Corners Post Office. So far it is a 50-50 chance that this mail service will loose your mail. Several Missing mail inquiries and even Complaints to Postal Inspector's Office and Inspector General's Office to no avail. Do not use this Post Office for returns because if third party service picks up you have no recourse to make claim. read more

I came in at exactly 2:27 on a saturday, just to pick up a package. The employee behind the desk said they were closed and he couldn't help me. No one else in line, not like I was making a huge request, just find my package, if normally takes about 2 minutes for the entire process. I work in retail and understand how frustrating it can be when a customer comes in right at close, but saying you can't help someone before business hours are over is pretty bad, in my opinion. read more

I just recently moved to the Westdale Pointe apartments about a month ago which is right down the street from this post office. I ordered first-class mail items twice from amazon so they should have been put in the mailbox. As I was tracking these items, both times I got an alert from USPS saying that they were "Unable to deliver item, problem with address". I checked the address 3 times to make sure it was correct with the correct apartment # and it absolutely was. Luckily the first time I got this notification, I was able to catch the mailman while he was delivering the mail and had to ask him for it directly. I checked the mailing address on the package itself and everything was correct, including my apartment #. This second time that it happened, I was still at work and was not able to ask him for it directly. I don't know why it was not delivered because it should have been and now I may have to wait weeks for a $100 refund. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Average wait time to pick up packages arrived: 10-15 minutes per person. Chance that your package will be found in the back room the first time: 50%, although I have never had them find my package the first time, I've seen others get theirs. While waiting 15 minutes at the door to get my package, I timed other customers attempting to mail their packages. Most customer takes at least 4 minutes, and the office rarely staffs more than 1 worker, although I have seen 2 workers there during peak hours and one time I saw 3. Unfortunately I live by this office for 5 years, but today was the final straw when I brought in my Form 3849 to pick up an important package for my business and they couldn't find it. To be fair, the staff has been friendly to me, which is why I'm giving one star. read more

At this substation on Far West remember you have to tell them you want to purchase "forever" stamps for $9.80 per sheet! The clerk must have had a field day with my purchase! I looked through her stamp book and said lions how cute not knowing they were $12.00 per sheet!!!!!! And had the value of $.60 each! What am I going to mail for $.60 ?????? Then the solar eclipse, haven't figured out what they are worth! These people have sooooooooooo much time on their hands! I can't wait for the drive through ! Rachel is incredibly rude. Didn't greet me at all except to blankly stare at me. Then Rachel couldn't be bothered to let me spend 20 seconds writing an address on a package that I had intended to mail at the self-service kiosk (which doesn't need the address written on it but was an even longer line and I didn't think the box would fit in the slot) while Rachel measured the box or otherwise began the mailing process. Turns out, Rachel wanted me to leave the counter so she could walk away and talk to a friend that had come in- never mind a half dozen people were still in line. After standing in line a second time with a large box and small child, I approached Rachel's male counterpart. Again, no greeting and incredibly curt. When the transaction was complete, nothing like, "Thank you," or "Have a nice day," completed the interaction- just a blank stare. The rudeness and inefficiency is exactly while I'll be joining the ranks of others and just paying more to use UPS or FedEx next time. It's no wonder USPS is struggling with employees like these. I mean, customer service doesn't cost anything. I get the holidays are busy, but get over yourselves and make it a better experience for everyone. read more

Package delivery is very unreliable. Sorry guys, I know you work hard but you've lost my confidence. Tracked Amazon package. Said it was was left in mailbox, it wasn't. Called Amazon, was told to wait three days. After three days, still no package. Went to post office on Far West to speak with the manager. She said she'd look into it and call me. She didn't. Called Amazon to ask about their delivery policy. They said they have no control over "last mile" services and replaced my order. Tracked it. Same thing, said it was left in mailbox, it wasn't. Called Amazon and requested a refund. Went back to post office and spoke with a man behind the double doors. He made a call to the postal carrier who said both packages were on the truck. He asked me to go home and wait. So I went home and waited, next to my mailbox. When the mailman arrived, Shane I believe his name is, said, "Oh, is this you?" and handed me our mail and both packages. I just smiled. This a solid little post office. The people are friendly, and they have a nice 24/7 self-serve kiosk. Apparently they've also added a card-only stand/line for priority mail, flat rate boxes, and stamps. They're also not stingy with donated materials. I will admit that I had issues with mail carriers in the pst, but lately they've really cleaned things up. I wish I could give 3.5 stars because it's solid but not phenomenal, but I'm going with 4 because of how nice they are. read more

I happen to find this post office fast and efficient and even moved my business mailbox here as a result. Surprisingly, I find there to hardly ever be any lines and when there are, they move fast. I already filed a complaint a month ago when 3 different pkg deliveries were NOT left at front door, but instead were in my driveway, to get run over. Ever since moving to this zipcode, USPS deliveries have become a pain. This location messes up deliveries all the time. I have had a few instances where they show the package as delivered and it's not delivered or they will leave a note in the mailbox - please pick up, instead of delivering the packages to the apartment leasing office. Took several phone calls to USPS customer service and this location to figure out where the packages are and finally get them delivered. Hopefully they improve their service in future. read more
