Old school country charm! Railroads are so aesthetic.
Rick Z.

My dad says back in his day, joints that doubled as convenience stores and post offices were common. It was so cool rolling up to this little piece of living history, right by the railroad crossing to boot! Felt like we'd gone back in time to the 1900s. It's off the main road a bit, through the entrance to the Austin Lime Company, so don't get weirded out or second-guess your GPS. It's tucked away by the railroads. Anyway, I had to mail a parcel, so I went in and rang the little bell on the counter for service. The employee was friendly and service was exactly the same as any other post office anywhere else; used my credit card for the transaction. One note, this location is only open half days: 8AM to noon. So if you need stamps or something in the afternoon, you'll have to seek out an alternate location. But good luck getting snacks and beer while mailing a letter anywhere else, lol!

At first I didn't know if this was really a post office. The building is in the middle of nowhere and it's a teeny old thing by the railroad tracks. But I took a chance and went in. It is indeed a post office. It felt like I suddenly went back in time to an old western film. Anyway, the associate there was pleasant and I was actually surprised they had the service I needed. I was there for money orders in a very large sum. She said it was the biggest she had ever been asked to do, so had to make a call to check and make sure she wasn't missing any steps, but we eventually got there. I liked the post office because of the fact it wasn't busy and the customer service was good. Plus, it was a novelty feeling like I had gone back in time a bit!

Can I review a place even though I never went inside, but I adore the concept and admire the property? If so, I want to salute the very existence of this place. I love the old time feel. I love the small town vibe. We arrived too late: Saturday hours only from 8-10. But someday I want to go inside. If only I had a bike, I'd bike here. A classic. Landmark!

This cool little post office reminds me of the one I had growing up before it was torn down - worth the drive for the nostalgia

I have to disagree with the previous reviewer. This place is not terrifying at all! It's so cool to see that the USPS has preserved some of the old timey post offices. This totally reminds me of the original post office in my hometown in the Midwest before they decided it was too close to the RR tracks and tore it down. This is a quaint little post office with a general store attached. The hours are terrible, but that's the only negative. This place has the best service of any post office hands down. It is a little hard to find, but worth the effort. There are signs guiding you to it on McNeil. There is rarely a wait and always service with a smile.

Second time had  A package from overseas shipped to me in a month  and was stolen by someone at  United States Postal Service. I got a note saying sorry we damaged your package what it really meant to say is we have some sorry as employees and they stole your shit. Sorry we damage your package and then they delivered an empty package. I'll be happy when these pice of shit go out of business.

So neat! I love going here, it's like going back in time. Never a long line like I'm used to at the other locations. So customer oriented.

It's USPS, okay, so there is a general level of suck that can be experienced at any government or…read morequasi-governmental agency office (dreary environs, draconian & nonsensical policies, an assault of directive signage, inflexible staff who do not exceed the parameters of their Standard Operating Procedures, etc.). With that very low expectation set, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the level of smart efficiency I experienced at 10 minutes before closing at this Metric & Braker Lane location on a Saturday afternoon. If you have used this location before, you may know that the window for picking up packages is a closed door placed outside of the "main" customer service counter / store part of the place. A common mistake folks make all the time is coming in to pick up a package, waiting in the long line at the main counter, and only once reaching the front, learning that they were supposed to go stand at that closed door and wait for someone to appear out of nowhere to acknowledge them. Been there, done that myself. On this day, I showed up to retrieve my "requires signature" item and found a line of about 15 customers ahead of me with just a few minutes until closing. I had my doubts about how this situation would end, but the postal worker handled it with professionalism and efficiency, calling us up to give our addresses & show ID, taking down our info, and then going away with a complete list to get all of the packages in bulk. This calmed everyone and assured us that we'd be able to get our stuff before the place closed for the day. One by one, each name was called, even those who had arrived after me, and soon only one person was left without a package - me. Turns out, my mail carrier had picked up my item and had it out with her for another delivery attempt, even though the order was specifically set to be held at the post office. Argh! Foiled again!

10 people waited in line. My turn, and I'd forgotten to tape my package. ‍ They have no tape, no…read morestaples to spare, friends. Don't ask for a manager. They will take out their budgetary frustrations on you. Do better, USPS.
