Ok, I have lived in Alpine for 3 years now, and prior I used to go to the El Cajon Post Office. The Alpine post office has the worst Managert/Postmaster I have ever seen. He has created an atmosphere where the customers are always wrong, and everything they have to do that is considered "their Job" is a major problem. I wont go into details here, but I would drive to Pacific Beach to the post office to avoid going to the Alpine branch if I had to. The Alpine branch doesn't have "bankers" hours, they have NO hours basically. There is no package drop off, which would make the fact that they are NEVER open more tolerable, but even though you can get into the PO Box area, you can't leave a package as they have NO package drop. The customer service hours for the lobby are supposed to be 10-12, then 1-5pm, and almost every time I go there during supposed business hours, the lobby doors are locked, and nobody answers the 1950's buzzer they have for help. Let me put it this way, if the post office conducted surveys like every other "civilian" company is doing now (The post office is govenment subsidized regardless of what the employees are brainwashed into thinking, if not they would have gone out of business years ago...) they would close the doors PERMANENTLY due to the incredibly poor customer service. If the Alpine post office closed for good, they would be doing the city of Alpine a favor by letting a legitimate business take over this prime property. Not sure what kind of "Tenure" the manager of the Alpine post office has managed to obtain, but apparently he couldn't be fired even if he told every customer who walked in the lobby how stupid, dumb, ignorant, and worthless they are, BECAUSE HE DOES, EVERYDAY!!! If I could give this post office a negative 5 stars, I would, thats how bad the customer service is at the Alpine branch 90% of the time. In the defense of a couple counter employees that have worked there in the last couple years, they can be OK, and at times even helpful- but the MANAGER wouldn't make it a regular company for more than an hour before he was fired for having the worst customer service and social skills an employee could possibly have. Ok, enough of my rant, I petition to the have the manger removed, or close the Alpine post office all together. Going to the Alpine post office is worse than going to the DMV, at least at the DMV they don't criticize or scold you like a child when you actually make them do what they get paid to, help the general public... read more
