I always get attended here kindly. It's very easy going. I have returned mail, picked up mail, done my passport and it all went very well! All these bad reviews are from people who expect their ass to be kissed or they are just being dramatic. No one should be forced to put on a fake smile for 8 hours straight. Would love to have great post office staff. It's not that they don't do their job, they are just rude and lack good customer service. I hear a lot of complaints from the Alpine community regarding the same issues. They will completely ignore you behind the wall when you need assistance but it's outside their "customer service" hours. Post master-I don't know if you are creating this negative, hostile environment but please prioritize people. You seem to close doors on people if things get stressful instead of hiring better staff that care. I can't help that other people have the same opinion as me. read more

I do live in a rural part of alpine but EVERY SINGLE mail carries other than USPS drops packages off to my door. that is annoying enough but what inspired this review is I am currently on deployment and ordered a gift for my daughter to be delivered in HER NAME. she said the usual slip was left in the mail box and when she went to collect it was already gone. their system said it was delivered to someone else!!! Not sure how that happened without identification. I avoid this place like the plague but Amazon apparently went through then this time. Avoid using them if you can. read more

Terrible customer service at Alpine Post Office! The gals at the counter never greet you, smile or ask how you are doing. They seem to hate their jobs and it is quite obvious. I watch how they treat other customers while I wait in line and it is just rude. On occasion, we have had to deal with the people in the back or called in to speak to them about stuck mail in the slot or lost packages and you get the same poor customer service. They could care less about your issues with their service or performance and they all seem to have the same bad attitude, but it starts from leadership at the top, so it must be the Postmaster not doing his job. I have been in Alpine just over 5 years now and it still has not changed, so I finally wanted to write this review. Very sad bunch of miserable people there. Life is too short! Go to Postal Annex on Alpine Blvd. just up the street...maybe a little pricier, but at least they are friendly! read more

They scanned my package. Sent me the notification it was delivered. Then they lost it. Promised to call me back before the end of the day. No call back. Now they have an hour wait time when I called in. Terrible service. Post Master said it was delivered to the Apartments behind the facility. When the postmaster returned the "Apartment" was vacant and the box was not there. I was told there is nothing they can do since it was "delivered"; even though they sent it to the wrong place. Two weeks later the packages is suddenly found. This office is completely unreliable! Returned for a UPS package marked Delivered. I gave the woman at the front desk the tracking number. She said she wouldn't look for it because it wasn't sent through USPS. The service remains terrible. Someone should look into this! read more

The mail in Alpine frequently gets delivered to the wrong addresses and/or mailboxes. We seldom will mail anything from the Alpine Post Office because you cannot know that it will reach its intended destination if you mail it from this post office...even if you walk it inside the post office. No one working there, including the postmaster, seems to care. read more

Of all the post offices I've been to; this one has to be the worst. They refuse to actually deliver my mail so I have to come pick everything up. To make matters worse, the only hours you can pick up packages are M-F 10-5 with the exception of 1230-1, where apparently the entire staff takes lunch at the same time. This review is for two reasons: 1) To tell the naysayers to stuff it, and 2) Because the USPS doesn't get a lot of love for all the amazing work they do. To the first point: If you are here to write a bad review of a US government employee, let me say THINK AGAIN. Are you really dumb enough to put your real name on that review, along with a picture of your face, and post it up here on the interwebs for everyone who works here to read? And then, are you dumber still to keep going into the same post office (or, frankly, ANY post office) and think you're going to get speedy, keen service that'll kiss your ass? Look, guys and gals, this ain't the private sector (go watch Ghostbusters if you need some clarification on that reference), it's the gov. They do not need, want, or give two sweet teas about your opinion, and they will get to whatever you want done in their own time, whether that pisses you off or not. You would be wise NOT to mess with government employees, in general, period. Because who has the power here? THEY DO. End of story. To address the second point, I frankly love the US Postal Service. They will deliver pretty much anything straight to my door on time, intact, through all weather and hardships, with zero thanks from you, me or anyone else. They don't get nearly the respect they deserve for this job, and if you think you're going to waltz into a small town branch and have the staff bow down to you for any reason, you are sorely mistaken. It is YOU who should be bowing down to THEM. Consider: Who delivers your Christmas packages, on time, every time? Who brings you all your Amazon packages full of nonsense, with a quickness? Who delivers your snail mail, all day every day? Who gives you the cheapest rates, to any destination on the globe? Oh, you get the wrong mail in your box "all the time"? Boohoo! It must be hard having such a life where you can't simply take the mail up the street to your neighbor and stick it in their box without complaining about this insignificant mistake on Yelp and giving the mail carrier 1 star for their efforts. Maybe your mail is being lost or incorrectly delivered because you posted a crappy review of the USPS employees on Yelp. Have any of you 1-star, 1-brain-cell folks ever considered THAT possibility? I am fed up with the negativity here. I am fed up with people dumping on postal workers. They are federal employees, and they put up with a lot of your crap, uncomplaining. The lady was very rude, I went to send out a poshmark package that was already paid for, I went to get the free box/bag that has never been an issue before and she informed me I would have to pay for it, despite the poshmark label saying otherwise. I got the pleaser of meeting the post master John. knowing that I would be traveling by the town on a certain day I had a package delivered general Delivery there. It's a smaller town than I realized for my 40' rv so when I pulled into the back lot PM John stepped out was happy to go back in and grab my package and was able to express his care for his town and post office. He even gave me some great tips for my traveling the local area. met several locals also that were extremely nice and helpful. read more

Over the past year I had multiple experiences that match some of the negative reviews others have posted. Some of the employees are very kind. The manager can be extremely rude some days, and other days he can be very nice. I'm not as stoked on this place as I was when I first moved here 3 years ago. I don't look forward to having to drop my mail off now, so I usually try to take it to a different location if I have time. The reality is that I have no clue what kind of stresses and injustices that the manager has to deal with in his own life that may cause some days to be harder for him. And while I don't think it justifies being rude to the customers, I hope he finds the peace and happiness in life that he deserves. read more

I had a mishap with a package that said delivered but didn't arrive to my house. I called this office and spoke with Jan, their new supervisor. She was seriously so helpful! She looked around and was able to call Ken and he came and dropped off my package within seriously like an hour! This post office is super friendly and helpful. Ken, our delivery man is also so cool, he brings treats for my dog and just a nice guy. Happy to have this place as our neighborhood post office!! read more

My girlfriend and i just left this post office and i have to say i've had bad customer service but this was next level. My girlfriend was getting her picture taken for a very important legal document. And we were not shown the photos until after they were payed for. The photo was TERRIBLE. for anyone that has gotten a passport you know your photo can not be flawed. Her eyes were almost completely closed and they said that it was perfect. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!... We talked to the manager and he was extremely rude. to both of us. And made comments that left my girlfriend in tears. I was alerted that my kids personalized Easter presents were being returned to sender (across the country) and she ran outside as the truck was leaving to intercept the package and send it to my change of address on file. Surprisingly not customer friendly at all. It's a cute little small town Post Office, but that's where it stops. We too get other people's mail and neighbors down the road get ours. We've gone to that program that tells you what mail you're supposed to get. That has helped a lot. It seems now our mail is delivered correctly. What a difference. We drop off most of our mail at the one on 2nd Street because if we put it in the mailbox or drop it at this location it seems to take an extra 2 days to get delivered. Not sure why that is, but it's pretty consistent, so we've stopped going to the Alpine location. How sad. Takes away from that little town feel. We love this little Alpine... read more

I've lived in the area for over 25 years and have always had pleasant interactions with the Alpine post office employees. They are polite, helpful and efficient. We get quite a few packages delivered and I can only think of one time over all these years that there was a problem. Sherry, Mychael, Ricardo...all of the employees do a great job! read more

Went to my P.O. Box to pick up a package and I was informed by the postmaster that they put the key to retrieve my package in the wrong P. O. Box AGAIN. He told me to file a claim like it was no big deal. This isn't the first time. I receive other people's mail at my P.O. Box and at home and we return it to the post office. I pay to get make sure I get my mail safely and I'm not getting the service by the USPS that hey promise. So now I'm out of a package that was desperately need for a celebration. So now I need to file a claim and wait who knows how long to hopefully get my money back. They will probably send the check and deliver that to the wrong P O Box as well and then tell me they sent me a check! I was also told they don't even know which box they put the key in or who retrieved they key and took my package. Postmaster didn't care that HE lost my package!! Sure it's old, run down, has lines that take days to go through, but disgruntled workers are far and few between. This perfectly sized post office sits just off the main drive in Alpine filtering locals in and keeping tourists at bay. With the surrounding community living mainly out of the main town there are post office boxes galore and take over two-thirds of the customer lobby. Rates are fair for box rentals and the attitudes behind the counter (most of the time) are pleasant and filled with true small town cheerfulness. As you stand in line you realize that many of your fellow customers have a relationship with the postal workers asking about the kids, goats, and local happenings. Perhaps this will put you out of place for the time being until you walk up to the counter and receive the same friendly conversation. They instantly make you feel like you are part of the community and are truly interested in the joys of your life. The drive way is a bit tricky if youve never been. Small and hidden unless you are looking for it, it is easy to drive by. Located right next to a school bus stop, be prepared to wait for a bus to load/unload our young citizens just near the parking lot exit. read more

I totally agree that there have been a few duds working at the counter over the twenty five years I have dealt with the Alpine Post Office BUT that doesn't seem to be true any longer. I now find the staff to be friendly and courteous.. Once in a while we receive a letter that is addressed to someone else but I simply return it to our mailbox and it's taken care of. Most unfriendly and unhelpful staff I've ever dealt with at a post office. Period. Not open on Saturdays, closed from 12-1pm everyday... Sounds pretty good to me. Try smiling and not being upset and/or irritated with the customer when you don't know how to void a transaction. Had to get a PO BOX a year ago after being the VICTIM of domestic violence. I had never had one before. I WASN'T told that the zip code was 91903 instead of Alpine's 91901. Didn't get my mail AND they acted as if it were MY FAULT. Went in today, 2 weeks late to pay for my PO BOX because I work Monday thru Friday. Rude girl working was irritated that I had a check for the wrong amount because I wasn't notified that the cost went up as of January from $32 to $35... That okay, I'll pay the difference in cash. Then she says, It's $57.00.. Because there's a $25 LATE FEE. No thanks. Then she acted irritated because she couldn't figure out how to void the transaction. Went home and forwarded my mail. This review is for the USPS in general. I am posting here because the certified mail was sent from this office. On 12/9/20 I sent two pieces of certified mail. I sent these letters, which were time sensitive for legal reasons, via certified mail to a business in Florissant, MO and the other to the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC. The post office should issue a warning that mail is taking over two months (yes, TWO MONTHS) to arrive. The piece sent to Missouri is still in St. Louis, where it has been since December 18, 2020. The letter sent to Washington, DC was just delivered 1/25/2021! It appears I will no longer be sending anything important via USPS. I will spend the extra money and send anything via FedEx or UPS. I realize they are probably short employees due to the pandemic, but they need to hire temps, (yes they have and can) have employees work overtime, and call back laid off and retired employees. read more

I have done business with this Post Office for in excess of 20 years without so much as a single complaint...I've had the same mailman for at least 10 of those years, and know just about everyone at the Post Office at least by face, if not by name...Never have I encountered such a worker as "Brian", who is a newcomer to the staff, and about as nasty of a human being; using the term loosely, as you could ever regret to encounter...Deal directly with UPS or Fed Ex, both of which provide awesome package service without any lip service involved; especially since options are very limited in this town, it would appear they take advantage of that...I have already complained about this individual once, and I am now complaining again; from what I know it is highly illegal to withhold someone's mail from them...I guess I'm about to find out... read more
