AVOID AT ALL COST - DO NOT EAT HERE - FOOD IS HORRIBLE
I dont understand the positive reviews here. The food at this place is horrible. The only good thing about this place is the fresh chichi morada and the decor.
i always wanted to go here because of the reviews but because they do not serve sangria i always patronized other restaurants. so here i was on a work night looking for a quick bite with my Peruvian wife. We figured we would try it out.
The decor inside is very nice and cozy, made us think that we were in for a treat.
we ordered 2 apetizers papa la huancaina and a fish ceviche. The papa was tatsteless with runny sauce that was far from appetizing. the ceviche looked great but they ask you if you want mild or hot. we ordered hot we ALWAYS order hot anytime we get ceviche, unfortunately it was so damn hot that you couldnt taste anything except the sauce. no other flavors at all. they soaked it in this sauce and everything tasted the same. ok so we are still sitting there giving the place the benifit of the doubt and then the entree came. we orderred the parillada which is basically grilled meat with rice and beans. the rice and beans were average but the meat..OMG they bring you the dish on a grill plate and the meet is still sizzling...you would think that it would be delicious WRONG!!! it was sooo nasty. The half chicken was dry and actually tasted bad..it had flavor but it was just BAD. the small piece of Entrana was a bout 4 inches by 5 inches THIN, FLAT and RUBBERY as any steak i have ever eaten, there were also two shish kabobs with either liver or cow heart or something..i cant tell you because it just looked to nasty and dry to eat and last and definitely least there was a huge portion of tripe. now i dont eat tripe but i dont mind it being near my food. this stuff was such a big portion and it just looked sooo bad, just flat out nasty. the service was average and the waitress did not speak or understand 1 word of english. im caucasian but i am bilinguall, as is my wife who is peruvian. i always speak in english unless it makes things easier in spanish. i asked the waitress if they had sangria and she flat out ignored me and turned to me wife and told her in spanish that she doesnt understand english...i thought it was a bit ignorant and dissrespectful but it is what it is. my wife was also inquiring on how thier bottle service works and the waitress couldnt care to be bothered she just rushed away from us...there were only 3 other tables occupied...maybe she was cooking the slop too...who knows. all in all im very fair and take the bad with the good but this place doesnt even deserve a star...THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE. so the bill came and for 2 chichi's and 2 incas as well as 2 appetizers and a shared entreet it came out to $75.00, now people need to make a living no matter how bad thier service is so i threw the waitress a 10 on top of that, it kind of sucks paying for bad food and tipping for bad service on top of that but undertipping by 2 bucks may send a message but probably not..so for $85.00 i enjoyed a inca cola and a morada...i can only think of the poor souls who make 10 bucks an hour and then take a date here to spend more than a days pay on horrible food and bad service.
i welcome any questions on this review because i would hate for someone elses night to be ruined by this place. thank goodness it wasnt an occassion and it was just me and my wife...16 hours after eating there my stomach is still not right.
BAD BAD BAD..if you want good peruvian food you should try Pollo Inka, Tu Casa and even Pio Pio...but dont go here...the more i think about it the more my stomach turns and the more pissed i get...how can you screw up peruvian chicken in a peruvian restaurant. YUCK, just flat out DISGUSTING read more
