Absolute worst. Ordered food and coffee. The food came out first. We finished the food and the drinks were nowhere to be seen. We went up to the counter at least twice to see what was going on and both times they were "still working on it." It took more than 30 minutes from the time I paid until we finally got the drinks in our hands. At that point we were stuck with a cup and we wanted to leave. So we asked for a to go cup. You'd think it was that simple but the waiters were also extremely unreliable here. We had asked for something else previously while we were eating and did not get it. I use to live down in LB and came here all the time. Within the last year it's really gone downhill. It's not as I remembered it when I've come here previously. Came here for breakfast and ordered a waffle. They use to have a waffle with fruit, cream, etc. and now they're just plain. I noticed several other items in the menu that have changed. The line is always long, however there were MANY empty tables. After we got our meal, the service was sooooo slow. When we realized we had some issues of what we ordered, it took forever to get our items fixed. When a manager was walking by, we attempted to communicate with him, and he had no interest. I showed up in the morning around 8:40am with a few friends to enjoy a hopefully nice breakfast, however, this was not the case. For starters the line is long, moved extremely slowly, and confusing from the pickup and in person ordering. The staff when you order your food is just about the only pleasant experience you'll get here. All the the food is overpriced and not worth a cent of your money. When I got my overpriced muffin I went outside to search for seating to be greeted by several tables with open seats, but cluttered with dishes as nobody was bussing the tables, not to mention the birds feasting on all the leftovers everywhere. In fact I had to clean off a couple of tables for us to sit down. After we sat down I began to eat my muffin, which was very hard and been stale for most likely days at this point. Furthermore, the food they brought out to us was subpar to say the least to quote my friend, "The French toast tasted worse than the sand on the beach" and "There would be more flavor in a bag of rocks!" I have heard so much about Urth Caffé and how I absolutely HAD to try the blended green tea latte boba. I made my venture over to Laguna Beach, and prior to stopping at the beach, wanted to pick up this green goodness. The staff was super friendly and helpful in helping me venture through the menu. I loved the drink! It was super flavorful and had an earthy matcha taste. The boba added a great touch and made the perfect beach drink. I love coffees and teas at Urth, but my god the food is horrendous. $30 for arguably the worst breakfast I've had in 5 years. It wasn't particularly busy on a Thursday at 9:30am, but the food still all came out cold. The poached eggs were super runny on the outside, yolks were fully cooked and had a strange texture. Chicken sausage was hard and dry as can be, even my dog struggled to eat it, I couldn't do it myself. Potatoes were more like a mash, obviously old and reheated, but not well enough, because like everything else they were cold. Benedict was ordered with bacon, came with ham, EVERYTHING was cold. It was obvious pretty much everything was microwaved, dry and overcooked, mushy, yet cold. Pre-cooked and reheated, disgusting, especially for a company that brags they're "organic and fresh." Not a single thing we ordered was palatable, which is disappointing because we were starving. I still enjoy the drinks, but this is the third time I have come for food and been sorely disappointed. We had to wait to get our coffee .after I spoke to their unprofessional called manager Julia...they brought one item of the order first, after reminding the staff for couple times, I had to speak with their manager. I was very excited to go here as it was my only pick for coffee in Laguna beach. This place had a really long line but looked super cute and all their reviews showed incredible coffee art. The place is slammed and I waiting in line even though no one else in my party of 7 wanted coffee but I waited an hour in line to try this highly rated and seemingly incredible coffee art cafe. I was very disappointed when I was told that the large was the only size that had two shots of espresso in it but still got it anyhow for the coffee art. When my coffee came out, it did not have any design like was advertised on the menus or on any coffees in reviews. The taste was very chalky as well and not enjoyable. We just had stopped in for a latte on the way to Heisler Park and were blown away. We got a mocha and a green tea latte, half priced on Monday mornings, and a chocolate croissant. They were all delicious, hand crafted perfections. The green tea latte was sweetened just enough and the bird on top was a lovely touch. The mocha was rich and creamy. I love Urth caffe, and been buying from them for a while. The reason behind the negative review is that my recent visit uncovered some pretty obvious and blatant public health issues. During these times, it's imperative for such places to ensure staff wear masks and wear them properly. Several staff members I observed had their masks below their nose, just covering their mouths. Whatever anyone's beliefs are, those are respected. But this is not a matter of beliefs. It's a public health issue. However much our politicians want to make this a political issue, I'm a scientist by education and a businessman by training. I trust that when science says wearing masks is necessary, it's necessary... and as a businessman, if it makes my patrons feel more comfortable and safe and keep my doors open, it's a small price to pay to make sure I'm being respectful of all my patrons. read more

Such a terrible experience at this cafe. We ordered 4 lattes and pumpkin pound cake. We got our lattes in a decent time, but all 4 lattes were cold. They didn't even bring out the cake, after an hour of waiting we went in and asked why we still didn't receive our cake and, the people who were working were so rude and didn't acknowledge us at all, just said "ok" waited another 10 min still nothing, went back inside to check on what's going on and got ignored until one of the servers told us he'll bring it out. Gotta say, I was a little disappointed coming here. I was really excited to try Urth Caffe after all the rave stories I hear about this place, but my expectations were crushed and I left wondering what went wrong. If you can't find parking up front by the main road, you can drive behind the store and you might be lucky. There are a few spots available and reserved exclusively for Urth Caffe guests. Setting is perfect because you are seated near the beach, and you can see the ocean if you sit by the patio. Me and my buddy decided to eat there early morning so it was cold but thankfully there are patio heaters outside. The place was empty and ordering was pretty simple, but service was meh. Person at the front wasn't too helpful or friendly to us, but thankfully our servers were pretty awesome. I love that Urth offers boba on their menu because not a whole lot of other places offer that besides your typical Taiwanese restaurant. And matcha flavor too? These guys sure know the way to my heart. I ordered the Poach di Parma, because I heard it was one of the more popular items on the menu. My buddy ordered the sausage and potato omelette. All of it looked gorgeous, but as a whole I wasn't satisfied with the meal. The matcha green tea was good at first, but halfway through my drink it has this sharp sour taste couple with bits and pieces of hard matcha powder. Poach di Parma was alright, but not mind-blowing enough for how expensive it was. Not to mention that the poached egg was cooked, and the yolk was not runny enough to drip all over the meal. My palette wasn't so used to the flavor either. I can see others liking this more, but this definitely wasn't for me. I tried some of my buddy's omelette and that was delicious. Sausages and potatoes tasted a little different and I liked it. For how much I paid for everything, the experience wasn't worth it to me. I can see why people like this place, but I just didn't feel the same way. The tiramisu tasted like goat (maybe thier marscapone was from goat? Is that a thing? ) and was just kinda... bad in my opinion. Im sure thier other pastries are fine but I would avoid the matcha tiramisu. The green rose drink was actually pretty bomb tho and i would recommend it. Anyways the reason im leaving low review is cause a couple of hours later i yarfed up both the tiramisu and drink (though im pretty sure the culprit was the tiramisu). I generally have a pretty strong stomach so i was VERY surprised, but i felt good immediately after ot all came back out. Finally a location in Orange County I came in for the first time to this location on a Saturday around 11:30pm for brunch with two other girls. The line to order food went out the door and almost to the front entrance gate. It went by fast though. Once we got to the register I ordered the Eggs Salmone with an Organic Green Tea Boba with soy. After we ordered we found a table nearest to PCH and had the servers clean it to sit. Our orders came out but a lot of it was wrong. For example, my girlfriend ordered a hot latte in a to-go cup but it arrived on ice. Then when we mention it was suppose to be hot in a to-go cup, they brought it out hot but in a restaurant cup. It was frustrating. My order came out fast and theirs took forever to come out. My "poached" egg was not runny inside. It was fully cooked. I was disappointed. Everything else though was good though and the presentation was beautiful. The smoked salmon was delicious and the fruit it came with was sweet and of good quality. My green tea boba was also good. It wasn't too sweet which I liked. The pricing is pretty cheap and reasonably. My green tea and egg salmone was $17. Other items for breakfast/brunch/lunch include other versions of egg benedict, omelets, scrambles, breakfast burritos, parfaits, oatmeals, yogurts, french toast, pancakes, and paninis. Their food and drink menus are extensive. You are bound to find something you like. As for service, the guys serving us was really nice and made sure we got everything we needed. The people at the register and whoever made the food though needs to get it together. There were just way too many mistakes. Since it is new maybe they need to work on their organization? I do like that this location is pretty large. There is plenty of outdoor patio seating. Parking can be hard. There is meter parking on PCH and neighborhood parking which is hard to find. read more

We waited in line for 30 minutes and once we had ordered and sat down, it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Staff gave us menus to read over while we were in line, which was smart. I tried the Curry Chicken sandwich. The curry chicken had good flavor and I liked the wheat bread. I opted to have fruit instead of salad with it for an extra $3. I was not crazy about the fruit. I also tried a Boba drink made with half and half. The drink was very good, but there weren't many bobas in it. Seating was bad for my husband. People kept bumping into his chair. Read later - here on Yelp - that previous customers had found a length of plastic straw in a salad and someone else found a latex glove finger in a sandwich. Words cannot fully express....... Although it is very well located in Laguna Beach, the place is really disappointing! I arrived at 12:35 and was welcomed by a nice lady who explained to me how to order, and then sit wherever I wanted. I placed my order at 12:47. Not too bad if you are in vacation. There were not many options so I sat outside in the heat, and waited for someone to come over and clean up the table that had not been cleared after previous customers had left. The wait lasted over 10 minutes before I got a cleared table. Waiting is the Master Word here. At 1:17pm, exactly 30 minutes after I placed my order (time being printed on my receipt), I finally got my drink! Still no food! The waiter dropped the straw, gave me another one, but did not even bother to pick up the one he had dropped... Another waiter finally arrived with my meal: a half soup and green salad combo. At that point, I was so hungry that I was happy, no matter how long the wait. As I started with my green salad, I found something that looked like a piece of wood in the middle of my plate. But after I took a closer look at it, I realized it actually was a piece of rotten straw. I like organic, but I don't need the straw and horse shit in my plate! After I had finished my soup (not the salad though, ew), a waiter came to clear my table, and I showed him the rotten straw in my plate. He sent a manager who nicely offered to refund the money for my lunch. Come on people! You have a wonderful location, you have a gazillions of workers there. Half of them are ok, the other half looks like they are lost and don't know what to do. I'm not sure about what's going on in the kitchen after I found that disgusting rotten piece of straw in the middle of my greens!
