I really like the food here at Urbane Cafe. I always get the club sandwich and my husband gets the so cal sandwich and they are both really good. I also like the side salad that comes with the sandwich's. I usually order online and then go pick it up. The people who work there are friendly and the restaurant isn't huge but it's still nice if you want to eat inside. Also they have really yummy chocolate chip cookies. First time I have ordered. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I ordered the miso salmon for myself and the farmers market salad for my friend because I knew she liked a similar salad from Panera. I added chicken to hers. She told me she likes it even more than the Panera one! Because I hadn't ordered from here before, I added extra salmon on my salad in case there wasn't enough. Whatever they normally would have put would have definitely been enough for a very solid meal that would fill me up. However, what I ended up with was enough salad for a meal and a half so I will be having the rest of my salad with my dinner tonight. The focaccia that comes with it is very good. Food is good, service not so much . I ordered a power veggie bowl and when my meal came out , I was missing the vinaigrette dressing and bread. I couldn't find anyone at the register to let them know so I went directly to the gal making food to let her know. She gives me chimichurri sauce and let's me know there is a charge for additional bread. So then I corrected her letting her know my meal never came with dressing or bread. I understand they are understaffed but they really need to get it together . I really wanted the vinaigrette for my salad but the 2 ladies making the meal looked annoyed when i went up to ask for bread so I just ate my salad without it. This review will feel like a good bye letter to an old friend. A friend that was good in the past but all the sudden became too cool for school and is now all about themselves. Let me explain. I started going to Urbane Cafe about 18 years ago in Ventura. They were an instant hit. Line out the door! We even scheduled meetings around it so we can get here early enough and avoid the long lines. Everything they made were absolutely great. I even learned a few things about the owners and was so surprised that they were painted in a negative light. Anyway, I moved and was no longer near an Urbane Cafe, but as I started seeing them popping up in other places I would happen to be, I always made it a point to go. Well now I just moved to an area where I'm a mile away from one. It's been 10 years since I've been to one and I was shocked at how much they changed. Does the food still taste good? Mostly. I understand prices have to go up and I'm ok with that. Charge more if you need to, but I'm bothered by the fact that they charge more but then give you less. Much less. They give you less of that delicious salad. They give you less of what's suppose to be in your sandwich. They've added fillers to fry and make the sandwich look more full but it has much less of what you actually ordered. You order a portobello sandwich and you'll find yourself wondering where the portobello went. Tri tip sandwich? There's probably 30% less tri tip and replaced with random fillers. You charge more but give less. Makes no sense. That's what you call a rip off. This place rips you off. Go take your money elsewhere. read more

So it was my 1st time trying this place out. I've been trying to go to this place for a while so I am glad my friend told me to meet her there. It was hard to choose but I ended up opting for a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich with a side salad. The location is nice and the employees are friendly. It was clean and had good music. You can sit outside or you can sit inside if you hate the sun like me lol. The restaurant has a nice modern feel to it. The menu primarily focuses on salads, sandwiches, and soup (from what I can remember). I definitely liked what I ordered and totally see myself coming back here. What a fantastic eating establishment. I just recently discovered Urbane Cafe and I honestly wish I discovered it sooner. The food is fantastic. The first time I came I got one of the bowls with salmon. It was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh and flavorful and the piece of salmon was a great size. I always hate paying extra for fish and then getting a tiny piece, and I'm glad that wasn't the case here. The second time I had the So Cal sandwich. This was tasty, and I love the ingredients in this sandwich. Their side salad and bread are also good. The service is great. Everyone is so friendly and more than happy to answer any questions you might have. I was greeted with a smile both times I came. It really does seem like the employees here like their jobs. I drove all the way from Oceanside to try this place it was fantastic well worth the drive. I have always wanted to try the San Diego locations but never got around to it. The atmosphere: This place is chill and inviting. It's bright and modern with a bit of a rustic flare. The kitchen is exposed so you can even see them make your food. The food: The bread is so good you can taste how fresh it is! I had the tri tip bahn mi and it was a delicious fusion item. For minimal wait, healthful made to order fresh food, Urbane Cafe is the place to go! Even the bread here is made fresh every hour, and if it sits more than 45 minutes, it is no longer served! We had an Ahi salad (Sashimi grade Ahi Tuna, Asian Greens, Edamame, Avocado, Cucumbers, Red Radish, Grape Tomatoes, Feta Cheese and Sesame Seeds, Served with Japanese Chili Garlic Dressing), a Rustic Rosemary sandwich (Roasted Rosemary Chicken, Julienned Mix of Heirloom Carrots, Apples & Beets, Arugula, Mozzarella Cheese, Chutney Aioli) which includes a garden mixed herbs salad, a bowl of the soup of the day, which was a sort of tomato bisque, along with some of their cookies - especially liked the oatmeal ones, chewy, not too sweet, and warm out of the oven! All the food was very fresh, very good. I could really taste the rosemary in the chicken! What also really added to the place was manager Christi's warm service - she made sure that our order and everyone else's in the place was handled correctly, and even handed out some free oatmeal cookies to us and another customer. We also enjoyed their iced tea, mixed with some regular or mango lemonade, to make our own Arnold Palmers. Urbane Cafe is a family owned operation, with their first store opening in 2003, in Venture. This one in Temecula has been there two years and looks freshly new. The Encinitas location opened in November 2017, and later in 2018, one will open in Pasadena. After having their food, I can see why this chain is expanding! Now, you have to accept that after drinks, food for two will be around $25. perhaps even a tad more, but you are getting very freshly prepared healthful food. Eliminate the drinks and you can get in around ten dollars per person. It is a shame that healthful foods can set you back 2 - 3 times more than a fried burger, but your body will appreciate the lack of fat and higher nutrition and increased fiber, and the food at Urbane Cafe is served up pretty quickly, almost as fast as the wait at a burger chain - with a cool wireless pager buzzing away to notify you that it is ready. We intended to enjoy our lunch indoors since it was very hot outside. As we waited for our lunch, we started to realize how incredibly hot it was indoors. I noticed the employees behind the counter sweating, I overheard an elderly couple say how hot it was. I walked up spoke to a gentleman who seemed or looked like a manager. I asked if he could please turn on the AC? He replied that it was already on, I turned to the employees behind the counter as they were whipping the sweat from their forehead. I immediately asked to please change my order to go. I understand it's hot outside but if your going to be open for business and not have AC please apologize to customers in advance or close. I'm super pleased with my salad, the ingredients were fresh and crisp. It was a good blend of different greens, edamame, radish, sprouts, cucumber, tomato, mandarin orange, and cheese. I have bookmarked to come to urban Café for a while but I just got the chance to go today and I'm so glad I did. I looked at a few pictures before going into the restaurant and things looked great so I decided to go with the cilantro chicken salad. From the pictures I saw online, it looked great and the employee recommended it. My sister-in-law end up getting the Mediterranean bowl, and we also got the kids cheese pizza. The cilantro chicken salad was absolutely delicious and I had extra of the vinaigrette sauce because it was so good. For the Mediterranean bowl, I think it was okay, I liked the chicken for my salad more than the Mediterranean bowl. I highly recommend them to everyone. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and it was empty. We had great customer service from the friendly staff behind the counter. It's mainly salads and sandwiches that they offer. I also saw some cookies that looked pretty tasty. I got a sandwich and one of their housemade lemonades. It was very good. It tasted fresh and the portion was a nice size. The Focaccia Bread served with the salads is delicious and somehow I can eat it and stay in ketosis when I'm on a keto diet. My favorite salads are The Cafe salad, The Keto salad and The Crunchy Peanut salad. The salads are big enough to be a whole meal. The artichokes, mushrooms, avocado, brie cheese, and sundried tomatoes on this sandwich were the exact blending of flavors I was craving. Also, I didn't know the sandwich was going to be so big. If I had known, I might not have ordered the cup of soup. I tried their chicken spaetzl soup which tastes just like your regular chicken noodle soup but with mini dumplings instead of noodles.
