Went here for dinner while waiting for a loved one to come out of surgery across the street. Hadn't tried this location - and was in the mood for something late. Restaurant was clean, friendly staff, and well put together. Staff was personable and helped us customize our bowl. The most amazing thing was when I went to pay for my bowl and my son's bowl and the cashier asked how my day was going - and I explained that I've had better days - she was so kind she pushed what was called a"love button." I really didn't understand what this was until I went to pay and realized that she had comped one of our meals. When I said to her, that was very generous and unnecessary she said well when we see somebody who needs a little bit of love or cheering up that is what we do. My experience at Cava was honestly one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I've had in a long time--and not because of the food. While waiting in line, I witnessed the general manager openly chastising employees in front of customers. Not a quick correction or quiet conversation--full-on public humiliation. It created an incredibly tense and awkward atmosphere that made it hard to even enjoy being there. Out of concern, I asked one of the staff members why no one spoke up, and what I heard was even worse. I was told that the last employee who pushed back ended up getting stuck with the worst shifts and eventually had their hours cut down to practically nothing until they quit. If that's true, it speaks volumes about the kind of environment this management team is creating. No one should feel intimidated or punished for standing up for themselves at work. It's disappointing to support a business where employees appear to be treated this way. Regardless of how the food tastes, I won't be returning knowing what's happening behind the counter. Cava is so fresh and delicious, I love the flavors and variety that they have. I always customize my bowl and feel comfortable to get adventurous with all the hummus, dressing and topping options. I can craft the perfect level of spiciness when I'm in the mood for it. Usually it's a long wait, sometimes when you order ahead, but it doesn't bother me because they're always busy. This location felt very different. The staff seemed disengaged, with little greeting or interaction, and the overall atmosphere felt cold. The food wasn't great either. My chicken was overcooked and slightly burned, which left a bitter taste throughout the bowl. Combined with the poor customer service, it made for a disappointing experience overall. I know the employees work hard, so this feels more like a training or management issue than an individual employee issue. First time trying this place and it did not disappoint! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I went around lunchtime, and even though it was busy, the line moved quickly. The restaurant was also very clean, which I really appreciated. My daughter enjoyed her plate with chicken, rice, and pita bread. I ordered a bowl and everything tasted fresh, and the chicken was perfectly seasoned. The pita chips were especially delicious! They also have a good variety of drinks to choose from. Second, the overall portion size was not sizable enough to cost $14. And third, the amount of my selected protein was extremely lacking. Several of the protein types (basically all of them aside from chicken) , cost $3-5 dollars extra (in addition to the $14, I got grilled chicken as my protein). Prices can seem high for fast casual, but their quality and fresh offerings are better than typical fast casual dining and the portions are huge. My husband and I split a bowl with hot harissa pita chips and a drink and we both were full. Sharing the bowl seems best too since the greens may wilt if you try to save for later. I am super excited to have a healthy fast food option walking distance from where we live. The eat in space is on the smaller side with a walk thru ordering line where servers make your build to order bowl, and a fountain drink station. It's very nice. There is also some outdoor seating, which really needs some umbrellas to make it more appealing to eat outside, especially during hot days. I ordered online for take out and it was super easy and seamless. I ordered for a 6pm pick up and I walked out the door with my to go order exactly at 6pm! Our meals were two grilled chicken bowls with all the fixings. While it was an okay meal, it was just that--just okay. The chicken didn't have that nicely flavored grilled taste or seasoning, it just didn't wow me. I think I was comparing the meal to what I get at Red Pine Cafe, which is a few blocks away. I have been a long-time fan of CAVA after trying it at La Jolla and Carmel Mountain locations, so I was excited to hear about the newest location opening up in Temecula. I got my usual bowl with 1/2 greens and rice, 3 choice sauces, grilled chicken protein with everything with toppings and my favorite date vinaigrette. Usually, they pack a lot more in a bowl where the lid has trouble closing but here, there was less food in a given bowl. The flavors were the same as always which was reassuring of their quality control. I really liked the options, and building my custom Greens & Grains bowl. The sauces were so flavorful. It was a delicious and filling meal. For counter service, perhaps it is a bit pricey, but at least I found it to be a satisfying meal! One note - if you are avoiding spicy, be sure to ask, as some things might be spicier than you'd expect just going off their description. This was not a problem for me - I love spice! What a disappointment! I've been to multiple CAVA locations, but this one wins first place for Slowest Service. Have you seen the movie Zootopia? Remember the DMV scene where the sloth takes FOREVER to do anything? That was the entire crew at CAVA yesterday. It was 3 p.m.--not even a peak meal time. Four employees were visible behind the counter. The line wrapped halfway around the restaurant. At first, I thought that was a good sign--they must be killin' it here! We got in line and began our wait... and waited... and waited. After about ten minutes of watching the most unmotivated-looking crew, we finally reached the glass counter area--only to wait more. One crew member acknowledged us, then said she'd be right back before heading to the front of the line to do something else. Of the other three employees, one was in the fridge area doing something, while the other two just stood around as the line kept growing. No manager was in sight, and if there was one, they weren't managing. We weren't in a rush, so we stayed--until we saw the flies. Standing there, looking at the food we were about to order, we watched three flies walking along the counter and right onto the food. They did their little dances, with their poopy little fly feet, all over the hummus and harissa steak for the customer in front of us, then moved on to the rice and other toppings. They had plenty of time because no one was moving fast enough to shoo them away. That was it. We left. No CAVA for us. The dining area itself looked clean--that's the only positive thing I can say about this visit. I hope they find a way to motivate their crew. You'd think $20 an hour would be enough... apparently not. We ended up at a nearby sit-down Greek restaurant, PANGAEA, and spent about the same as we would have at CAVA. They offered fountain drinks and a small selection of specialty beverages. The service was good. The employees were attentive and helpful. I ordered the Harissa Honey Chicken Bowl, which was extremely spicy--but unfortunately, it lacked depth of flavor. It felt like heat for the sake of heat. When I got home, I also noticed a strange, tough chunk of chicken that I couldn't even break apart. Not ideal. We also tried a Make-Your-Own Bowl with steak. The steak was bland and didn't stand out at all. The sides were equally underwhelming: the hummus tasted like basic store-bought hummus, and the tzatziki lacked the tang or seasoning you'd hope for. Both came in very small portions. While they had a decent variety of dressings to choose from, the two we picked were also lacking in flavor. Are cava opened up probably a little under six months ago we've been there multiple times but what we have noticed recently as of March 2026 is that their portions have gotten smaller that's right guys so we're paying the same price for less product but the great taste and flavor and qualities is still there. You're just not getting as much as when they began six months ago we give this place a seven out of 10 and reason it's not 10 out of 10 is due to the pricing it's a little pricey, especially if you go overboard on your meats and you don't don't go with the general basic chicken and beef but give it a try. We do enjoy it because it's healthy and I guess you're gonna pay for healthy quality products. Have a great day. read more
