I visited this location a few days ago and was highly impressed with both the customer service and the food quality. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the cashier, I believe it was Leslie. I appreciated how attentive and patient she was as I was having trouble deciding what sandwich to order. She asked if I needed any recommendations and made some suggestions. I love this place! Although I wish it was called Urban Cafe instead of URBANE. It just sounds better. This location in Oxnard in my opinion is better than the one in Ventura in regards to the food. I like this place because it's a new complex and isn't run down. Urbane Cafe also has ample parking which is always nice as well.z I always get the roasted turkey sandwich because the sauce that they put on it is amazing! I've also tried the southwest chicken salad which is also very good. Both excellent choices. The side salads that are included are also very good with a balsamic vinaigrette and sliced mandarin oranges topped with small grated feta cheese. I come to this place every now and then when I'm craving for a nice gourmet sandwich. I usually get the rosemary chicken sandwich which comes with a salad on the side. The dressing they use for their salads compliment the sandwich which makes eating there better. They serve healthy sandwiches that pack a ton of taste because of the ingredients they use. Urban café makes very good food but they give me absolute nightmares and the nightmare is multiple times I've picked up food for myself friends or family to go and they refuse they absolutely refuse to provide your utensils they sell salads holy fuck can you provide a damn fork and some napkins but no they don't put that in your bag. You have to doublecheck realize they don't do that go to the back and grab it yourself. the challenge is people in a rush for lunch may only get 30 minutes for lunch so you have to be swift and that's one of the things that common courtesy restaurants like this provide at the counter when they had to do the bag not just dismissively allow you to just go without it now they could care less I've spoken to the manager to the employees even called their corporate and they just don't care unfortunately no this is not a huge deal but it can't be and it has been when you're in the middle of nowhere and you don't have your tonsils it just fucks everything up and that's a horrible experience therefore it's a nightmare waiting to happen going to urban Café. I had to give it one star today because today was the worst it's just such you up for horrible experience when you bring people food they are in need of food and they can't eat it without the damn utensil fork. I appreciate your message down below a great deal it shows me that somebody cares sadly now when I go to your location I'm frustrated and I almost don't even want to go however your food is incredibly well done it's just a poor experience I highly recommend you send somebody to test your locations I am only aware of the Camarillo and Oxnard location those are the two places I frequent and the same problem exists at both locations I highly recommend try sending somebody there under cover to purchase sandwiches that's what I bought I bought a socal and ahí salad. I come here often when ever I'm in the mood for a good casual lunch. This is not a sub place, the sandwiches here are served on a type of flat bread and each one is served with a pretty decent mixed green salad although I think you can substitute (Ive never asked). Ive tried many of their sandwiches each one with lots of flavor and each with its own unique sauce and ingredients. My favorite by far is the the "Californian" which is a vegetarian, it has avocado, mushrooms, artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes. Its very tasty and you don't miss eating meat which surprised me because I'm usually a meat and poultry kind of guy. The portions are pretty filling and the prices are fair, they'll run in the $9-$12 area depending on what you get. Good place to grab a quick bite. read more

My fave healthy dine in/ takeout close to home. All salads and sandwich are great and tasty. But i find myself always getting the same thing- rosemary sandwich, socal sandwich and protein salad. Excellent food and outstanding customer service. Love this place! I usually get the Californian sandwich and it is delicious. Love the little salad that comes with it also. I don't know of any other place in the area that serves food like this. The sandwiches come on this pita-like bread, so it perfect for people like me who don't like to eat much bread. The ingredients always seem to be fresh. They have a wide variety of sandwiches, salads and soups, and several vegetarian sandwiches. They're always very accommodating when I ask for easy sauce. They do get very busy around lunch time and parking can be a bit of a pain, but they're pretty quick with orders and it's worth it. One of my favorite lunch places! Highly recommend! read more

This was my favorite sandwich place when it opened, worthy of a 5 star review (for a sandwich place). The hot sandwiches were fantastic. This was a 5-star worthy restaurant, but the last couple of times I've gone to this one specifically, I've been somewhat disappointed. The salads weren't fresh and the quality seems to have dropped off. I'm hoping it was just a couple of bad days. Had my first experience with the chain been what I had the last time, I would have given it a 2-star; however, I went to the one on Telephone road and that one gave me the 5-star sandwich flavor I've come to expect from Urbane Cafe. read more

I LOVE this place. Yes, it is constantly busy and finding a table is hard. Yes, prices aren't cheap. But this place is great. I always get the mango jicama salad with mango miso dressing and have never had anything other than that. It is delicious, fresh and just never gets old. This is a casual cafe to get a good quality meal at a very reasonable price. The ingredients are fresh, everything is made to order and the staff is happy to make any changes to accommodate food preferences or allergies. The girl who took my order was so sweet and patient. It was my first time eating at the cafe, so she explained some of the specials and popular items. I got the pesto & sundried tomato chicken sandwich but without the bread (I'm gluten intolerant). All sandwiches come with a house salad. I asked for extra pesto on the side and also tried some of their cilantro vinaigrette. Everything was delicious. The pesto sauce wasn't oily or heavy, and the chicken actually tasted like chicken. The portions are generous too. It's a great place to go if you want a casual, quick, good quality meal. They also have a really cute patio area with plenty of tables and umbrellas. read more

This is the first time I have experienced any issues at Urbane and I come here a lot for lunch along with my co workers. Today I ordered a sandwich with no lettuce no tomato, got to work and it has lettuce and tomato! So I decided to call and I explained what happened, the girl said no problem we will put it another order in at no charge. I asked her, do I need to bring the incorrect sandwich back? She said no. I get there for the 2nd sandwich and she asks me, did you bring the sandwich? I had asked if I needed to bring it back! Now this was the same girl who took the first order. She says to me, I'll go ahead and do it this time, a lot of people call saying the same thing. Guess what? I can afford another sandwich but why should I pay for it when you screwed up my order. We've been to 2 locations now and are not impressed. The first left cheese on everything when asked twice not to. We're vegan and prefer our food without cheese and smothered sauce. At this location, the sandwiches and salads were tasteless and not fresh. The lettuce was wilted and appeared and tasted old, and on my husbands sandwich, there was still a sticker on the portobello mushroom. So he almost ate it. Clearly the food is not inspected or washed. After reading the comment about a customer getting sick, this isn't surprising now is it? We won't be back. read more

I am addicted to the cafe salad! It's something I crave when I am out of town and so thankful they have other locations now! There bread hooked me too! You taste the freshness and quality of all the foods that go into the meal and they don't skimp on the good stuff like avocado! There dressing is also pretty amazing!
