I've passed by this place many times and thought it was a Mexican food restaurant. Eden says, hey it's Mediterranean food! Perfect. I love that cuisine and Luna Grill did not disappoint! The food was prepared fresh. The salads, hummus, the grilled meats were all perfectly done. The prices were reasonable, the selection and variety quite impressive and the waiting time for even grilled dishes was short. Delicious meal enjoyed outside under a covered patio, with ample seating inside. I always feel healthier after enjoying this cuisine. Looking forward to going back to try some of their delicious offerings! One small gripe: the baklava was kept in a refrigerated case. Baklava is best served at room temp with hot mint tea. I've always maintained that one of the most important aspects of a restaurant aside from taste should be consistency. The ability to visit an establishment multiple times and receive the same quality you have always come to expect is very important in customer retention. I don't think concept this works very well in franchises because they vary so much. Today, that point was further proven when I ordered the same exact dish that I had yesterday in the Oxnard Luna location and today at the Ventura location. Yesterday I had a great Keto bowl with a balanced variety of ingredients that cohesively gave it its delicious flavor. Today in the Ventura location I had a dry bowl of lettuce with some stuff on top that tasted like if I was eating fresh cut grass from a football field. I visit often since its close to my work and they have amazing vegetarian options. I usually get the falafel Cali wrap but today I tried their Vida bowl and it was just as good, but lighter. Service is always pretty quick and customer service has never been an issue for me. Also, if you love hummus, their hummus and pita is absolutely delicious. The chicken was seasoned well and the tsiziki sauce was very good that helped with chicken. They use kale as the greens. The salad was under the meat skewer. The only food on the plate, meat skewer, I rate a 6 out of 10 being best. . Also, the cook was so slow and seemed to do one thing at a time. Plenty of parking as this establishment is located in an already big shopping and dining center. This location is off the main road so easy to find. Once instead you order at a counter and if taking your food to go they call out your name. The menu was fairly large with a great selection of proteins and different options, such as plate, pita wraps, salads and more. The prices also seemed reasonable for the portion size. For example a large plate with rice, meat, pita, and hummus or salad will run you $15. Didn't seem bad when I saw how much food they provide. Service was friendly and efficient. They had two registers open which I appreciated as I was trying to get in and out quickly on my lunch break. Also impressed that I barley had to wait 5 minutes before my order was called out. The gentlemen taking my order was very polite and friendly, all good vibes. The food is a solid 3.5/5 when assessing that this is take out quick Mediterranean food. The flavors were hit and Miss, but definitely more good items then bad. Here's what I loved: -Gyro Meat was super flavorful and a good portion. Appreciated the flavors and right amount of spice. The white rice was the perfect base for the meat. - Pita was also soft and light, only wished it came with one more piece as they give a good portion of hummus. Items that were just okay: -Hummus wasn't for me. Edible but the flavor just wasn't up to par. Next time I'll get the side salad instead. If your not a huge hummus eater I'm sure you'll find this one fine. I just love hummus and get picky so this wasn't my favorite. - Tahini sauce was a little on the watery side and just "mid". Next time I'll try their chimichuri looking sauce or classic yogurt sauce. Overall, this spot is perfect for an on the go, healthier meal.
