I was looking for somewhere new to eat in the Ventura area and I came across Hummus Republic. I've been to this plaza many times I've been to all the stores next to it and used to come here when it used to to be another business. To be totally honest, I was a little bit intimidated by how the process works. But I assume caught on that. It was almost like a chipotle kind of style place. I decided to go with a bowl. I was able to choose between three types of different bases, and I went with the basmati rice and the couscous was able to choose a couple of salad options as well. Luckily, we were able to mix and match since I can never make a decision on getting All three types of greens that they have. Then moved over to the hummus section and I was able to get the three most popular hummus flavors, which I actually don't remember what I got. I know one of them was an olive flavored one and another one was a little more spicy. Then over to the protein side of things, you can mix up to two different choices, and some of the other options there is an upgrade fee. Then removed over to the toppings and these are all unlimited and so I was able to get feta cheese, tomatoes, olives, purple cabbage, everything was so endless and amazing At the very end, you're able to choose two different kind of sauces and at the very end, my bowl was actually pretty heavy in weight but most importantly it was very delicious Thank you to the team member here that was very helpful and walked me through the process. I think I might've been too overwhelmed. Otherwise I might've just opted for the burger which I may still have to try next time. The sweet potato fries also look very good and I will have to try those next time for sure. There's a ton of parking spots right outside. I can't get a little bit busy here so she'll be so many different food options but generally, I haven't really had an issue with finding a spot. read more

I love it here! Friendly staff and the food is so good and so filling! You get a lot of food for what u pay for. The falafel burger is so freaking good. Also I'm chronically obsessed with the lemonades specifically the pomegranate lemonade like I fr went and got 4 of them at once bc I couldn't hold back lol read more

I hate telling everybody how great this place is, and how inexpensive it is compared to other places, but oh my goodness! The best! Had jury duty in Ventura and was looking for good places for lunch. This one popped up as number one. For good reason. The food was amazing, reasonably priced(something that is unheard of these days), and definitely more than one meal. I ordered their protein bowl which has 52 g of protein in it, I was so excited! But, it's way too much food to eat in one sitting so it took me three lunches to eat it. I had the spicy shawarma bowl and enjoyed all of the ingredients included. The chicken had good texture and the vegetables were all fresh. I'm so glad I checked this place out. My daughter and I walked into a completely empty restaurant. The restaurant inside was clean and well lit. All of the ingredients that they offer for your wraps and sandwiches were very fresh. The service was quick, and the servers even offered suggestions. The real star of the night was the Tahini Milkshake! I was very skeptical on trying it, but after one sip I WAS SOLD! I will definitely be back to order another one of these. read more

So many fresh ingredients and generous on the portion. It's around $15 but I generally get twoish meals out of it. The staff are always friendly and everything always appears and tastes fresh. I really like this place. It's new idea and type of food for Ventura. It's like if Chipotle and Luna Grill had a baby. You walk in and are able to build a bowl or a gyro with select options. They have different meats, hummus, add ons, and sauces to choose from. The staff has always been helpful and nice. I feel like it's 50/50 you've either never been in there and have no idea how to order or you're an old pro. You started with a base - greens, couscous, or garbanzos beans. Next is hummus and you can choose up to four types I believe. Personally I love the harissa. It's like a spicy hummus. Then there protein- falafel, gyro, mushroom or two kinds of chicken. I personally really like the chicken shawarma. There are so many toppings you can add but I'm basic so I just do feta cheese crumbles and artichoke hearts. Lastly is the sauce - my favorite is the tzatziki! The bowl is actually pretty massive and enough for me for two meals. I think it's a good deal for the cost. Hummus Republic is a Mediterranean restaurant that sells healthy, refreshing deliciousness in a form of a bowl, wrap, or pita. Since there is no CAVA in Ventura county, it's nice to know that hummus republic offers a similar take on food and it's also a cheaper option! I specifically got the chicken spinach wrap. I was able to mix and match two different proteins which were the lemon chicken and chicken shawarma. The chicken shawarma was a little dry, but the lemon chicken made up for it. You can choose up to 3 hummus. I decided to just stick with the harissa hummus and that had a good heat and flavor. You can also choose however much toppings you want. I really like how they pack the wrap! They are super generous. I had a good time eating here. I would come back again to try their bowl and try out their other options! read more

Plus he gave me an extra side of dressing to try! I decided to go with a bowl. I added couscous for the base, kale, lemon chicken, beets, cucumbers, olives and dolmas ( those are extra 2 for $1). I love this place!!!! If you're looking for something quick, fresh, healthy, and well priced, this is it! I loooove doing the build your own bowl. I love the lemon chicken and chicken shawarma. I prefer the traditional hummus. I've had the harissa hummus before and just fair warning it's really spicy. I also looooove their sweet potato fries!! For $14, I feel like you get a lot of food in the bowl. Also you can't beat the quality - everything is ALWAYS fresh! I've been ordering pick up here when I'm running errands in Ventura. This spot is so FIRE and exactly the kind of healthier option that we needed on this side of Ventura. My friends and I had been eyeing this spot since it opened and finally a girlfriend and I were able to sneak in for a quick lunch on a cold rainy day. Because of the weather it was perfect and not too busy inside but still clearly popular seeing as they are a new businesses. There were a few people ahead of us in line and half of the tables were taken inside. Glad this place has already developed a following. The menu was self explanatory and really helpful to review before ordering. Also I appreciate that all of the ingredients are laid out and labeled as you navigate from start to finish at the counter so that made it easier too when putting together your food. I liked the ordering system and that everything is custom made and fresh. You can opt for a bow, sandwich, wrap, or salad. A lot of variety. For protein I went with the gyro meat which is a $3 up charge but it was delicious and I've just always loved that lamb/beef mix. My friend got a half and half of the chicken, one was plain and the other was a lemon chicken. She said that protein was delicious but next time she'd go with full lemon chicken as it was much more flavorful than the regular chicken. For my order I got a spinach wrap and the primary greens added were spinach. Then went with gyro meat and some tasty topping like onions, cucumber, beets, and sauces. They added two different hummus at the beginning and then I got their cucumber white sauce and tahini. A super flavorful and delicious healthy meal. This place will definitely become a new staple for me when looking for filling healthier options. The primary meal was a 5/5. For sides I'd personally skip the sweet potato fries. They aren't made fresh to order and were sitting up on the heater tray, so they were only lukewarm. Also I'm not a fan of the big cris cross fries so another reason I'd pass. The main meal is filling enough we realized we really didn't need a side. They have some tasty drinks and I went with one of their lemonades and that hit the spot. The staff here are extremely nice and friendly. I'd honestly come back again as the staff were super stellar here and clearly excited about the new business and guiding you through crafting your perfect plate. They never made me feel rushed as I navigated the new menu and they were super helpful with suggestions. They gave good portions and were accommodating when I asked if they could cut my wrap in half. They also went the extra mile to check on us throughout our meal to see if we were enjoying everything and would throw away our trash or get us items we needed. For a fast to go type of a restaurant I am impressed that the service was as good, if not better, than some restaurants are. Definitely A+ in the service department for sure. This location is easily accessible and has plenty of parking but I would recommend not coming during rush hours because I can see this spot is already growing in popularity. The inside was super clean and comfortable for dining in. All in all hummus republic is a solid yelp 5-stars from me all day long and I hope you'll check them out. read more

My only reason I'm knocking off a star is the consistency. I went a second time and ordered the same thing but the second time they loaded the fire bowl with the hot sauce instead of on the side and it was way too spicey. First time it was great because I was able to add just enough for a nice kick. But this place is delicious!! read more

I have tried severalndifferent items here on three different occasions and been disappointed I like flavored hummus, but the choices did not appeal to me and the spicy one was way too spicy. I tried the vegetarian Shawarma, which was shredded mushroom, but it had a very strange flavor. The falafel wrap I had would have been good if the falafel were fresh, but they tasted old . I was hoping for a nice vegetarian plate, but you have to buy everything à la carte read more

Great portions. I don't like that there's a few items you have to pay extra for like mushrooms and a hot pepper . Unlike Cava, they are more generous here . After trying Hummus Republic a few times I do find myself coming back again. Firstly, it's like a chipotle for Mediterranean food. You get to pick your base, protein and toppings. I usually get a bowl because I don't like to use my hands to eat. I got the couscous and chickpeas for the base, and all the salad greens as well. I usually get the lemon chicken. I've tried the chicken schwarma before but it wasn't for me because I tend to like things lighter in flavor, but others may like it though. I've also tried the falafels dipped in tzatziki sauce, and it tasted really good. After they scoop all the toppings in, the amount of food you get is quite a lot, I was very full after finishing it. Now for the not so great part. As the employee was scooping the food into my bowl, anything that fell on to the counter they either scooped it into my bowl or just back into whatever container it belongs to. Although the employee wore gloves I'm not sure how clean the counter is. This has happened twice before. Even so, I did eat all of it and was ok afterwards. So I will still go back because the food is pretty good and prices are reasonable. read more

I wanted to like it here. Although, the service was rushed for some reason and the store was empty? I picked the falafel bowl and they were good. Although, the sauces and the hummus were all very salty. The dolmas tastes like they were mayo coated and the grape leaf was tough with the rice. I paid extra for that. I wanted artichokes and they were extra too. The bowl ran me over $16. The only vegetarian option was falafel unless you wanted to pay a up charge again for mushrooms. Pretty pricey. read more
