I went here for a Yelp event on a recent Saturday afternoon. The staff is young and pleasant. My mom and I got a salad and sandwich, respectively, drinks, and I got an oatmeal raisin cookie (like a grandma). It was cool to see an employee rolling out and puncturing the dough! Our food was ready quickly, I picked it up at a counter with a buzzer, and we chose seats at one of the high tables. The craft soda and lemonade choices were a nice change from the usual, so I mixed the lemonades for my drink instead of just getting water. My SoCal sandwich was great! The bread, although missing herbs as is typical for focaccia, was warm and so were the melted cheese and chicken slices. I'm happy the chicken was sliced and not an entire breast as I've previously had. And it came with a side salad which was good too. My mom enjoyed her Moroccan salad. Came here for an elite Yelp event and this place was really great. Super clean interior and friendly staff to start. And handing out little cookies! We had the tri-tip and southwest sandwiches. Both excellent. Love the bread, it's just different than any standard sandwich. More baked in bottom to hold ingredients, soft on top, and all ingredients in between are top notch (you can taste it). The Baja Enchilada soup of the day very tasty as well. Ginger beer was insaaaaanely good, but that's what 40 grams of sugar in real sodas gets you! We would definite come back. Yum! We came here on a Thursday afternoon. The interior was spacious and quite hip if I do say so myself. They have a nice variety of sandwiches, salads, and soups for you to choose from. In regards to the food, we ordered the So-Cal Chicken and Turkey Brie sandwiches. Both of them were quite yummy actually, and it was very nice knowing that they bake their breads in house! I thought the sandwiches were yummy because how the meat was complimented (spread/toppings). The chicken itself was quite bland and dry. Both orders came with a salad w/ balsamic dressing. If you like balsamic you'll really like the salad! The last thing we got was the daily soup, Baja Enchilada. If you're craving soup I'd recommend - hearty and delicious! Driving home from SD to OC on a Sunday night. Needed something fairly quick but not fast food and something we could eat in our laps. This was perfect. Very clean. We ordered and sat outside to wait. Staff was friendly and helpful. I saw them run after someone that must have had an item missing. They wiped down seats and doors while we waited. I got the UC binh mi with the salad. My friend got the club and chips since he was driving. They are served in a large to go box so any items that fell from my sandwich missed my lap. My sandwich was delish! Spicy but you have the carrots and cucumbers to cool your mouth. The chicken was moist and plentiful. I have no idea how his sandwich was but it was gone pretty fast. This is a great place to go for a quick, healthy bite! It's order at the counter style and Sophia, the smiling, friendly cashier who took our order was super sweet! Hi Sophia! I ordered the cranberry Brie sandwich. It was really good! Lots of turkey and Brie. My husband ordered the BBQ Tri-tip sandwich. He said it was great. We also shared an order of focaccia bread. It didn't come with anything to dip it in, though. I think the bread would benefit from a side of balsamic and oil. But otherwise everything was delicious. I also really enjoyed my Shirley temple soda from the craft soda fountain. I definitely would go back and try a salad next time. Had a wonderful Quinoa Salad with chicken. Salad included avocado, corn, goat cheese and cilantro vinaigrette dressing. My friend had a chicken cilantro torta which he really enjoyed. We finished lunch off with 2 warm cookies: lemon with white chocolate chips and classic oatmeal raisin. I'm a cookie connoisseur and both were fantastic. Ordered salads: The Ahi and Cilantro Chicken We stopped in for dinner per recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed. The portion sizes were decent, all the produce was fresh with mixed greens as the base (no romaine ) like they were pulled from a garden. I really enjoyed both the service and the food. The salads were very well proportioned for both the price and the norm. Quality and flavor of food was excellent. They had wonderful drink selections all made with natural ingredients or no sugar at all. The lemon coconut cookie was to die for and their Cafe salad was spectacular. The only reason this lost a star is because when we walked in, there were no clean tables and we had to wipe down our own in order to sit. Holy BBQ Tri Tip that was good! Had an event here and I was very happy with my experience. Let's start with the friendly staff who welcomed me with a smile and a few samples. Clearly, I ordered the BBQ Tri Tip sandwich and it was absolutely delicious!!! I came for lunch and the small salad it came with was perfect. I only at half of my sandwich otherwise I would have been no bueno to work the rest of the afternoon. Lol Oh and can we talk about the cookies?! Yes THERE ARE COOKIES. Fresh baked. Several flavors but my favorite would have to be the double chocolate chip. Yumm-to-the-O! I'm very happy that I work right down the street from this fine establishment. I have been to several Urbane Cafes within San Diego but this was my first time in Encinitas. This location was larger than others. I got my usual club sandwich but I have to say this location wasn't up to my normal expectation. Don't get me wrong, it was still good but it needed more aioli and avocado because it was little dry. In general, I love Urbane Cafe. I love that they bake their own bread and I like the dressing they put on the salad. read more

We have been to this location of Urbane Cafe multiple times worth the first being a Yelp Elite event when they first opened. Great idea by them hosting an event as it's always in our mind as an option for a healthier option for soups, salads and sandwiches. For vegetarian options I recommend the Tuscan (great dressing and fresh veggies) or The Californian. The bread is super good and fresh as they are making it right in front of you all day. There are also good chicken and turkey options so the menu should definitely satisfy everyone's hunger! They also have a dog friendly patio which is always in our Yelp search these days! This is a good 5 star experience with cheap food, quick service and healthy options. There is a reason they average a star more than places like Panera Bread! read more

We were both flabbergasted that the food was bland that we truly thought we had a cold ( we don't! We had chocolate afterwards and could taste it fully). I've only had that experience one other time. Oh yes please! The salad was tasty with fresh English cucumbers and radishes atop of spicy arugula. The tuna was properly seared and the dressing complimented the flavors. The focaccia bread had a hint of a salt crust which was rather nice and the fresh lemon baked cookie was warm with an outside crispy crunch and a soft center. I come to urbane all the time, I love it! My favorite thing to order is the Mediterranean 5-grain bowl. Everything is so fresh and delicious and the bread is baked fresh out of the wood fire oven. The salad that came with it was garden-fresh and the dressing they put on it was light but so flavorful. I expected a crispy French roll with all the goodies inside. They make is with a soggy focaccia bread. The sauces make the bread drip. Kinda gross. Not much chicken inside. The chipotle sauce overwhelmed the sandwich.Chipotle sauce does not belong on a Banh Mi. For me anyway. They received a 2 because they have Kettle Chips and Craft Soda which are always yummy. Service was nice at the counter. Can't say the same for pick up. Rather abrupt. Thought I'd try this place. Won't be back. Banh Mi belongs on glorious French baguette not soggy Focaccia. I'll be honest, when I first looked at the photos from the place, I thought it was just another sandwich and salad spot: the kind that I only go to when I'm desperately in need of something fast and filling. While in line, the owner of the cafe explained this location is one of 17 throughout the San Diego area. Though there are multiple locations, the small scale of the business allow for the food they serve to be much more fresh (: which definitely showed. I shared a sandwich and salad with another yelp elite. We got their UC Banh Mi sandwich and their Santa Maria BBQ Salad. All of the sandwiches come with a side of salad and all of the salads come with a piece of fresh focacia bread so no matter what you get a well balanced meal (: The salad was delicious. The chicken was so well flavored and they had so many toppings that I didn't even need the dressing they added. Their sandwich was also packed with delicious pickled veggies and fresh cilantro. My daughter and I eat here almost every week when we do errands in the area. The food is consistently delicious and the service is exceptional. The ambiance is friendly and clean. We especially love the Keto Cobb Salad and the small portion of homemade bread. It's really special. The manager is wonderful - it warms my heart to see him interacting with his team. I was recently fortunate enough to be included in the celebration of Urbane Cafe's Healthcare Provider Appreciation Event. Our medical office received a personal invitation to order any entree of our choosing during their event! What a nice surprise! Our staff completed our orders via UC's online service, which is so simple to use and customize, BTW. All of our orders were ready at our requested time when we arrived to pick up. The G.M., Humberto and his friendly staff greeted us and assisted in identifying and packing our order. I chose the BBQ Salmon salad and it was fresh and delicious accompanied by the house foccaccia style bread and Chipotle dressing. Great menu selection and quick, friendly service.
