I'll make this short, I ordered the Salmon bowl and when it got to the table it was cold, so I brought it to one of the workers attention and I won't mention her name just out of respect for the individual but I will on a follow up review if I don't get a reply back. Back to the story so when I approached them and told them " the salmon is cold, she replied, " ok , I'll get another one warmed up instead of giving me a whole new bowl, so I replied with "NO, I want a whole new bowl just to make it right with the whole new "bowl". Anyway be cautious when you come here and I did not know they warm up their fish in the microwave well at least that's how she made it seem. Do not order any of those bowls until they get it right!!! I tried the banh mi...the sriracha aioli was great and a lot of cilantro for me please! Also split the bbq chicken salad with a fellow yelper. Great dressing with a hint of heat. Their chocolate chip cookie was possibly the best of it all! So dang good, I need to go back to try the other cookie options. I really like Urbane Cafe. I've been going since they opened. I like that the soups and sandwiches have real character. Their recipes are full of spices with some zing and unique flavor. The also have a good mix of outdoor and indoor seating. I am docking them one star however for an affliction that has become standard in the 21st century: Too loud music. In Urbane's case you can't escape it unless you take it home. It's definitely way too loud inside (unless you're dancing) but unfortunately you can barely find solace in their outdoor seating. Yep, there's outside speakers too. Even if it were music I liked, I would not enjoy it. I'm assuming I'm in the minority on this. Otherwise why would it have become ubiquitous for restaurants and many retail shops? The Grinch was right about one thing, "And then all the noise. All the noise, noise, noise, NOISE!" UPDATE: Though I appreciate the response from Caprice it really wasn't necessary. As I said I'm assuming (in fact I know) that I am in the minority on loud music in restaurants and retail shops. I have to assume that since it's become pervasive in this century. So please don't make changes because of one rant. Instead perhaps get a view from a number of your customers. I tried Urbane Cafe for the first time yesterday. I had the Mojo Chicken sandwich, which was listed on the Specials. It was fantastic! Also, the sandwiches are made with freshly baked foccacia bread, which was buttery and delicious. The salad dressing, a balsamic that came already tossed with the side salad was very fresh, the salad was not wilted at all. I was also happy to see that they have better fountain drinks than other places. They had a selection of higher end soft drinks (root beer, etc) and 3 different types of lemonade (original, mango and blueberry). Those were DELICIOUS. Thanks so much to Yelp and Urbane Cafe for having us in today! I know it made the lunch rush even more crazy but we much appreciated the hospitality you all showed us! I've never visited Urbane Cafe before, but it was DELISH! The traffic to stop by was terrible (thanks to lunch rush hour on the 5), but the food made it worth the drive. Too bad I had to be quick or else I would have enjoyed the party! I ordered a Gourmet Grilled Cheese and it was so good! I've never thought to put avocado on my grilled cheese, but it was a great addition! (I did get the salsa on the side because I wasn't sure I'd love it, but, sure enough it was an awesome combo!) The bread was scrum-didly-umptipus and I love that you can watch them make it right in front of you! Maybe I should have grabbed some extra for the hubby... It is easy to eat clean and delicious foods at Urbane Cafe. All of the food is prepared in a kitchen which is separated from the dining room only by glass. Guests watch the food being prepared with organic ingredients like spring greens, edamame, garbanzo beans and avocado. I am giving Urbane 5 stars because they have proven to operate in the top tier of the fast food universe. Everything that I have tasted is fresh and packed with flavor, and not diluted with fillers. Their salads, bursting with bright colors taste as good as they look. House-made, airy focaccia bread is a decadent indulgence and I cannot resist dipping it in their delicious dressings. I have tried the portabello sandwich and the ahi salad and both of them delivered intense flavors and left me satisfied but not weighted down. Don't get me wrong, not everything on the menu is healthy. One could easily order a bacon sandwich with a cookie, chips and soda trying to convince zirself that zie ate at a healthy restaurant. Urbane only offers healthy options, not healthy decisions and I encourage you to try one of their great salads. read more

Ordered through door dash and LOVED it! Ordering a salad and sandwich for dinner seemed so basic, but it was anything but. I had the cilantro torta, which was an incredibly flavorful and saucy sandwich. I'd order it again for sure. It wasn't too spicy, just deliciously flavorful and the chicken was tender. We also ordered the Santa Maria bbq chicken salad with extra chicken. First, probably didn't need the nectar chicken because they are really generous with the meat! The Tuscan sandwich was pretty good! I was so hungry I took the first bite then the last without a photo. The bake their bread fresh so it was soft and tasty. All the roasted veggies were seasoned good. I also tried the half brownie and chocolate chip cookie which although was fresh with good ingredients became too sweet for my taste towards the end. My family and I stopped in Urbane Cafe for lunch during a Yelp Elite week event. We have been to Urbane Cafe before (Temecula) and were very excited to see them come to Carlsbad. They are located next to the Barnes & Noble bookstore. Plenty of parking out front, though you have to brave crossing the road directly in front of the restaurant which can get quite busy sometimes, especially weekends this close to Christmas. They have excellent sandwiches with a wide variety of choices, and they have nearly as many salads too. There is a kids menu with a few options, even a cheese pizza. It would be nice if they had a grilled chicken option but there is turkey if you want to stick to the healthier side. They have a boat-load of drink options (sorry, no booze) from bottled beverages to "craft" sodas. Our kids love mixing the sodas to invent their own recipes. They really get into and compete with each other on who can make the tastiest creation. When ordering, you will get a buzzer. I do wish they had trays, however. I had to pick up four sandwiches from the counter and had only two hands...so bring help if you have a larger order. read more

I ate here for lunch today after spending a few hours studying at the Starbucks next door for a couple hours. I've heard a lot of good press about this place and decided to try it out. I ordered the Santa Maria BBQ Sandwich; They made an error and gave me the Santa Maria BBQ Salad. I ate the salad anyways because I was too hungry to wait for another sandwich to be made. It was DELICIOUS! The bacon really complimented the ingredients of the salad, the lettuce was fresh and crisp, and the chipotle ranch dressing was tangy, flavorful and provided a nice kick to all the ingredients. The bread on the side was hot and moist, and really didn't need any butter or oil to accompany it (much better than at Urban Plates). I also drank the pomegranate lemonade, which I found very delicious and refreshing. My lunch was pricey at $12.47, but it was worth it, and I am definitely going to be a regular costumer here :) read more

What a great new place to eat in Encinitas. It is also Family Owned which I love! They started in Ventura which is a very cool town I feel similar to our beach towns here. They have the Craft Soda fountain as well as homemade lemonades. The Pomegranate was my favorite. They also have their version of a Arnold Palmer. As well as Sriacha! My favorite hot sauce. The Ahi salad was great, so fresh loaded with micro greens, radish, edamame, and some avocado with the best dressing. A tad spicy, if you know sushi you know the spicy mayo (secret sauce)? well, this is it. We also tried The Cafe Salad. Micro greens with avocado, pears, goat cheese and white meat chicken. Topped with pecans. Fantastic. It comes with a balsamic dressing. Very fresh and flavorful. The portions are nice too. Unless you are starving, you will have some to take home. Their foccicia bread that they serve with their salads is really soft. My son loved it. The manager was sweet, she told us about the Family and said she loved working for them and had for a very long time. They have a few in SD and LA which is cool. What fabulous food! I loved all the flavors. Marcella served us our food with a smile she was a joy to be around. I got the Fall Harvest Caesar Salad which contains: Roasted turkey, candied bacon, roasted butternut squash, pumpkin seeds, parmesan cheese, housemade spiced croutons, seasonal greens served with pumpkin spiced Caesar dressing and focaccia bread. That Pumpkin Spiced Caesar dressing was phenomenal and my favorite part My husband got the Cilantro Chicken Torta which contains: Roasted cilantro chicken, smashed avocado, corn & black bean salsa, pepper jack cheese, pickled Fresno chili's, pickled onions, tomato, green leaf lettuce, chipotle aioli, with smokey tomatillo salsa on the side.
